  • The cottage is a well-thought out renovation that maximises the amenity of the 3 bedrooms - each with its own ensuite. Wishing we had more time to explore the local area, there its quite a bit of history, with Roman bridges and fields with lots of pheasants wondering around.

The Loft is close to the amenities of Blairgowrie but very quiet and isolated on a hill top with spectacular views. It is also a midge free place with lots of swallows and house martins.
Zip and Link double/twin beds in bedroom and double sofa bed in large open plan living/dining room/ kitchen. All linen and towels provided. There is a log burning stove with a good supply of logs.
We love living on a working farm right on the edge of the Highlands, with mountains, rivers, lochs, stunning views, rich history, peace and quiet but very accessible.
  • Had a great few days at the Loft. Lovely accommodation and very cosy with the fire lit. We enjoyed local walks, and had plenty of opportunity to read and escape! Thank you very much for having us.

  • Wow this place is amazing. Bette than in the pics and I thought the pics looked good. It's so cozy and unique. The view and surrounding area stunning. The facilities are great. The kitchen is so well equipped and there are lots of nice homely features. The log burner is great. So easy to use and there is ample wood supplied. The shower is great, powerful and hot. The bed is sooooooo comfy and the bedroom was heated with just an electric heater but it was so warm and cozy even when it was below freezing outside. It's also in a great location , just 5 minutes from a good size town , but also far out enough to hit some great walks and countryside from your doorstep. Lachlan took the time to show us around too and is very friendly. I would definitely reccomend this place to anyone

  • Lovely, peaceful place to stay, ideal for the Cairngorms and Glenshee, or just relaxing in the comfort of the loft. Our family of 4 visited in winter and it was very cozy once the wood stove was up and running. Great facilities throughout.

  • A home away from home with all the necessary amenities. Close enough to town to get supplies but far enough away that you feel like you are getting away from it all. The wood heater was great for warmth and atmosphere. Can’t wait to stay again.

Situated on a working farm in an elevated position above the Vale of Strathmore, Ardormie Farm Cottage is an ideal base to relax and explore this wonderful area of Scotland. The cottage is light and airy with open views over the countryside.
A cottage in the countryside with wide open views. Ardormie Farm Cottage is cosy in the winter and has a great little patio for sitting outside in the summer. Everything you need is right here; a double bedroom, bathroom with bath and shower overhead, cosy sitting/dining room and a little kitchen fully equipped with cooker, fridge, microwave and all you need to make your stay just perfect. We have just installed a new biomass boiler so the heating is provided from an entirely renewable energy source. Radiators have been fitted throughout and there is a thermostatic temperature control so you can set the temperature to suit. There is a washer/drier and outside in the steading the wood pellet boiler is heating a drying room which you are welcome to use for any wet outdoor gear. The cottage is on a working farm. There are sheep, cattle and working sheep dogs.. The surrounding countryside is what you would expect of rural Perthshire - mountains, lochs, stunning views, rich history, peace and quiet. This is a great place to be based as there is much to explore. The place is yours to enjoy. I live next door and I'm really happy to help with any questions you may have, there is also lots of local information available in the cottage. Although, sometimes I'm not at home, maybe I'm off staying in an Airbnb somewhere else!
We are fortunate enough to live in a beautiful little corner of North East Perthshire. This is very much a rural community with farms, friendly neighbours and a sense of openness. There are often local events in nearby Kilry Village Hall from the annual fete to the regular pop up T-Junction cafe. The Isla Parishes Church is just up the road and visitors are always made to feel welcome at the weekly service at 10am on Sundays.
  • Beautiful cottage with lovely farm views. Comfortably appointed with lots of stylish touches. Great place to escape from the bustle.

Balintore Castle has been extending her magical hospitality to guests since 1860. The building is located in a remote Angus Glen: offering direct access to hill walking, mountain biking, bird-watching and shooting. The kitchen wing accommodation has been lovingly and newly restored in keeping with the high Victorian character of the building. Professional catering for evening meal and/or breakfast is available: see menus in the photos. Tea & coffee making supplies and facilities are available.
The holiday accommodation is located in the kitchen wing of the castle. This is the first area that has been brought to full habitability in the initial phase of a restoration program that started in 2007. Accommodation costs will be entirely directed towards further restoration of the castle.
Glamis Castle is 10 miles away. The Glenshee skiing resort is 25 miles away.
  • The best time we get in this castle! Thank you David! Everything was amazing!

    Анна2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • I can't recommend Balintore Castle enough. It is one of the most incredible places to stay. It is in the middle of nowhere in the Scottish highlands overlooking some of the most beautiful landscapes imaginable. The castle is incredible with a host to match. When you stay there you truly feel as though you stepped back in time yet still retain all the modern conveniences of an airbnb. The rooms were spacious and well furnished. The floors were heated and the bathroom had a gigantic tub. The food was delicious and there was even wifi out in the middle of nowhere. David the host went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of and even gave us an in depth tour of what he was working on in the unfinished portion of the house. If you're visiting Scotland and want to see its more rugged wild side, book your stay at Balintore. You won't regret it.

    Jason2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful experience! Such a treat to stay in Balintore Castle and David was a wonderful host. Felt welcome right away and so fortunate to be living the life of a real Scottish Laird and Lady for two nights. The castle and views are just magical. A truly great experience all around.

    Amanda2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful castle to discover absolutely! David is an excellent host, he has discovered us his universe and has managed to project us in a life of Chatelain. I'm recommending 100%!

    Marion2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • My husband, friend, and I stayed at Balintore for 2 nights in February. We had an absolutely terrific time! The restored kitchen wing has everything you could need - three well-appointed bedrooms, a large bathroom, a kitchenette, and a large dining room/sitting room. It was very clean and thoughtfully decorated. The tour of the derelict portion of the castle that the owner is restoring was fascinating and highly recommended. We also did both the dinner and breakfast catering and found both to be excellent (Viv the chef's chewy pavlova dessert was particularly delicious!). David was very responsive to all of our inquiries. The castle is very remote and definitely isn't your typical AirBnB, but the listing and reviews are incredibly accurate so if you like what you read, don't hesitate to book it!

    Richard2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • I thank David for his excellent welcome, his castle is simply magnificent. Our best time in Scotland since our arrival. We even preferred a visit to his castle to a visit to Edinburgh Castle. Our arrival with the snow was epic and will be remembered for a long time. The rooms are perfect, the dinner excellent. David renovates this castle with taste and we will do everything to return to see the progress of this one. An exciting enthusiast! Looking forward to seeing him again

    Cathy2020-02-13T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding place to stay - what a magical experience. This was the highlight of our trip to Scotland. David was an exemplary host with a passion and commitment to restoring the castle to its former glory. The castle was beautiful and the insights into its restoration was a highlight. We loved our stay. There were 6 adults in our group and there was plenty of room Would highly recommend to everyone!

    Shona2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • This was a really unique experience! Learned a lot from David about the restoration process and we really enjoyed staying in the beautiful kitchen wing

This beautifully appointed, spacious cottage is light and airy yet delightfully snug in winter. Explore the lovely surrounding Perthshire countryside or simply relax and enjoy the space. Lose yourself in the gorgeous scenery, hills, lochs and so much more...and hire our new electric bikes for fun local day trips or enjoy skiing at Glenshee in the winter, only 45mins away. Shorter stays of 3/4 nights are available. Sorry no children or dogs.
This is a great place to relax in for your holiday - the cottage is in a lovely rural location in the counrtyside yet you are 5 minutes from the small town of Blairgowrie and on the edge of the beautiful Scottish Highlands. The cottage has everything you could wish for and is well appointed and extremely comfortable. There is a double bedroom up a small flight of stairs. A large double height kitchen & living space means you have plenty of space to spread out and relax and a generous shower room with underfloor heating and rain shower completes your comfort. Please note there is no bathtub. Please note that we are in a very rural location, 300m down a bumpy farm track. Take extra care for the bottom of your car and drive slow....and do not expect the high life! The cottage does have the feel of a romantic get away though and we have had engagements and honeymooners as testament to this. We now also have two electric assist bicycles available to hire. The electric battery helps you power up the hills which is a joy. There are lots of places for amazing day trips and we provide helmets, instructions and insurance at a cost per day of £40 for two bikes.
This area of Perthshire is stunningly pretty. We are nestled in the foothills of the Highlands and just up from the cottage there are great views south towards the Dundee hills and beyond. We are well placed for some lovely day trips - Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews are all between 1-1 1/2hrs from us, accessible by car and train. There are lots of outdoor pursuits on the doorstep from walking to kayaking, fishing, golf (we are 40mins from world famous Gleneagles Hotel and 5 minutes from Rosemount in Blairgowrie) and cycling to name a few. Blairgowrie is 5 minutes away and is an old market town with all local amenities including a large Tescos for groceries but also 2 good butchers, a fishmonger and several restaurants.
  • We stood for 4 nights in the amazing comfy Rose cottage to relax and use it as starting point for hikings and day Trips. We really want to come back!

  • Rose Cottage was our perfect idea of a 'getaway' for Christmas. Located in an ideal location where you are both out in the country but also near a town if you may need anything. With fantastic scenic walks in the local area we didn't need to travel far, and the gas fire and cosy sofa were fantastic to come back to. Claire was a great host adding little touches for when we arrived and giving us all the info we may need prior to our arrival. We will definitely be returning in the future!

    Matthew2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • The place is perfect for a peaceful and comfortable getaway. We spent 4 nights in this wonderful cottage and greeted with a warm host, with amenities that exceeded our expectation. It even has a washing machine and diswasher. The gas-heated fireplace was an additional bous, perfect for this cold weather.

    Rhea2019-11-15T00:00:00Z
  • Rose cottage is a beautiful cottage in gorgeous surroundings and our host Claire, couldn’t have been more helpful. The cottage is fully equipped with everything you’ll need. It heats up very quickly with the heaters and the cosy fire, so great when you’ve been out fishing/walking all day. We were delighted to hear owls at night and see red squirrels playing in the trees. All in all, a wonderful cottage with a very helpful host. Will definitely stay again.

    Julia2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time at Rose Cottage. Claire and Alex were such thoughtful hosts and made us feel very welcome and at home. We don't have a car and did almost everything by foot (with a few trips done via local taxi). This worked perfectly and the walk into Blairgowrie is easy enough and very scenic (45 mins). The immediate surroundings are really beautiful and we didn't feel like we were missing out on anything by staying in the nearby area. Would highly recommend the cottage even if you don't have a car. The cottage itself is super cosy and warm, perfect for days in. Overall a great stay and incredibly relaxing, couldn't recommend it enough!

    David2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Fairy Tale Cottage Exceeds Our Expectations - the photos don’t do this cottage justice. An absolutely beautiful yet cozy cottage surrounded by stunning landscape. A short drive from numerous attractions yet secluded enough that you feel like you’ve really gotten away from it all. Claire was a thoughtful and considerate host, checking in, yet giving us plenty of privacy. Any questions we had, before our stay and during, were promptly addressed. So much thought was put into making this a wonderful holiday stay. A large wall map of the local area plus 2 drawers full of maps and brochures made it easy to plan each day’s outing. We loved the decor and all of the modern conveniences. Heated floors, a cozy gas fireplace and deep sofa to sink into almost made leaving the cottage for sightseeing a chore. :-) And the cottage is so aptly named; we could see roses from every window! We hope to one day return to Scotland and Rose Cottage is a must stay for us!

    Adele2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Rose Cottage is a cosy, homely cottage where you can really enjoy your stay in Perthshire. It’s quietly situated for a relaxing away from it all stay but well also well placed to explore the surrounding area. Highly recommended.

We are a very friendly couple and love to welcome people to our home. You can join us for a chat in the kitchen but if you prefer to relax privately, that's fine too.

A cosy, charming house that is welcoming and comfortable. There is a lovely rural feel to the house whilst it is situated in a small town and handy to amenities. Tastefully furnished living areas include a spacious new fitted kitchen/dining room with modern appliances. The small garden provides a sheltered and private outdoor space. The view from the east facing windows is straight onto the Alyth Burn and childrens' play park, and the local shops are easily accessed in minutes.
The house is full of vintage charm. It is over 200 years old and we have tried to keep much of the original charm whilst updating it to be comfortable for 21st century relaxing. There is space for 9 people as long as you are happy to occasionally queue for access to the single bathroom. The kitchen is perfect for sociable evenings and the living room has ample space for stretching out after a long walk. We have recently fitted a wood burning stove in the sitting room, which adds an extra element of comfort and cosiness. The ambience in the house is peaceful and it works its charming personality on all who stay. There are shabby chic elements. The bedroom floors are uneven with various surfaces. Slippers are recommended. Please note that Endrigg is situated in a quiet residential area. It is not a party venue, and we request that guests refrain from making excessive noise outside after 10:00 PM
The house is sited in the centre of Alyth which is a busy and traditional Perthshire village. The play park is at the rear of the house. There are butcher's, baker's and small supermarkets within walking distance as well as pubs serving good food. The situation gives you the best of village convenience with rural hills and gorgeous walks just outside the village.
  • Our time in Alyth was definitely a high point of our trip. We enjoyed the location of the home and the quietness of the town. The local pub was a recommendation and the Sunday night live music was a treat! The park across the burn was entertaining, as the people were constantly changing - from little kids to teens and dog walkers. LOVED IT! This is a big home with plenty of space to relax. The wood stove took the September chill out of the air and made for a relaxing way to wind down from a busy day. Being able to do laundry was an unexpected bonus. This property has everything a large group would require. A perfect "home base" as you explore. Jim & Lisa September 2019

  • This is a great house for a family holiday with nice comfortable accommodation, a big well equipped kitchen and lovely comfy sitting room. The beds are all comfy, it’s clean and not too perfect which makes it relaxing - the slightly shabby but charming decor makes it a nice easy place to be. It’s also in a great location with shops, chip shop and pubs round the corner - but it’s down a side street with a burn running behind it so very peaceful too. Alyth and the surrounding area are lovely - lots to do in the region including mountain bike hire and a great network of off road routes to explore. Would thoroughly recommend this place!

  • Karen and John are terribly kind, if you visit them, you will enjoy your best time in your live. You will have all the atention of the family in your stay, you are going to be as a king. I have been in hundreds of airbnb houses or hotels and, by far, this is the best place I have never been in my live. All is perfect, you do not miss anything. The city is also very nice and you have some good places to go to eat or take some drinks. Thanks for the recomendations and I will visit you again as soon as possible! You are in my list of the best things in Scotland ;)

  • It was an outstanding experience and an amazing hospitality. The breakfast was delicious and Karen and John are very helpful. Definitely a good place to stay!

  • Being hosted by Karen and John is like visiting family, even for one night, and rushing on the morning as we were! We felt immediately at ease, and we were very glad that they accepted to share their warm home with us. The house is newly renovated, lovely decoration, simple and subtile at the same time. The room was just perfect, enormous and comfy bed, small thoughtful details like fresh fruits, tea, and travel kit, view on the garden and the countryside. The breakfast was one of the best we tasted in Scotland, the hospitality of them both is remarquable. We can’t wait coming back and take more time at Braeburn! We wish them a lot of success in their project! More than recommended address, worth making a detour!

  • It would be impossible to overstate Karen and John's hospitality, kindness and generosity. We truly enjoyed chatting with them in their charming dining room. The room and breakfast were impeccable. If you're visiting Perthshire or walking the cateran trail, there is no better place to stay!

This is a beautiful traditional cottage with modern facilities situated in the heart of Perthshire. You will enjoy the private use of a bedroom and bathroom - both bedrooms offer privacy, comfort, and charm. Within easy access are a host of incredible places to visit including many top visitor attractions. Walkers, climbers, skiers, cyclists, golfers, fishers, those interested in exploring and those who just want to "chill" will be well catered for and made most welcome.
Glenkilrie Cottage has rural charm and privacy and yet is very centrally located. In summer enjoy the sun trap patio in the evening, in winter enjoy the cosiness of the wood burning stove. Rural walks, history, magnificent golf courses, historic buildings, rivers to fish, lanes to cycle... so much to do. A great base for events such as the Scottish Game Fair, Rewind Festival Perth, Perth Festival of the Arts, various Highland Games, the Enchanted Forest experience, and the British Open when it comes to St Andrews.
Glenkilrie is a part of Woodside, a tiny village on the edge of Burrelton. This area abounds with fruit growing fields in the summer where strawberries and raspberries can be purchased at the roadside freshly picked from the adjacent fields. It is known for its rivers, beautiful golf courses, and cycling and walking routes. In winter, it is only a short drive from the ski slopes of Glenshee.

  • We had a pleasant room with an en-suite. Robin was unable to be there for much of our stay but he had everything available and set out for us. We were in want for nothing. He left us a personal message that was very comprehensive and had we stayed longer we would have had endless topics of conversation. A very nice gentleman who is a very generous host. Would stay again

  • We were looking for a wee place within easy reach of Glenshee to take our son on a birthday trip to the snow. The Neuk was much bigger than we expected and furnished to a very comfortable standard with lovely wee touches all over to make it extra special! Loved the tea, coffee, milk and juice waiting our arrival. The place was spotless and we all loved it! Had the weather been better we would have made more use of the fabulous enclosed back garden. Highly recommend and Elaine is a fab host.

    Chiara2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine is a great host and the house is amazing. Elaine was very responsive when needed and the house was very clean with great amenities. I went with my children and they loved it. We would definitely comeback

    Maher2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Had a very comfortable two nights at Elaine's place with my family. Booked last minute the night before we travelled and we weren't disappointed with anything. The weather was pretty bad so it was great to have such a nice base for a couple of relaxing days. We made good use of the fire to keep us warm from the storm outside. Everything we needed was provided, and it was helpful that there was practical things like a high chair and a few games/books for our son to use. We weren't in the garden much due to the weather but it was pleasant and in summertime will be another plus for the house. The surrounding area is nice with a good amount of stuff to do within a short drive. Peel Farm just up the road from the house was nice for brunch.

  • Great place. Immaculately clean, super host with added touches. Very nice biscuits

    Sharon2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Elaine's place was perfect, a very short walk away from a stunning waterfall which allowed us to get out and about very easily on our short break. The cottage was absolutely stunning as well. Really high quality and it was so clean that it felt like we were the first people to stay there. We did geta little lost when trying to find the place as the Sat nav took us to Kilry hall and it meant that we kept missing the sign marked out in the instructions. If this happens to you you turn right after the hall and it is at the end of the road next to the t junction with a sign to Alyth.

Outside of the house is a two car parking spot and a large garden.
The bedroom can be set with either one king size bed or two single beds. In the living room is a comfy sofa bed for two guests.

The Hideaway is an off-grid wooden cabin at the edge of a mature woodland, 100 metres from private road and parking place, overlooking two beaver ponds. Ecoshower in separate hut, (decommissioned in cold weather) and composting loo in woods behind. Wood stove (with an inital supply) and two ring gas camping stove with grill. Simple cooking and eating equipment provided. Comfortable 4 poster bed made with wood cut by beavers!. Z bed and hammock. Linen and towels provided.
There is a small dining table with wooden chairs and also two small but comfortable arm chairs for sitting by the fireside. The z-bed converts to a high table which you can sit at to look out over the beaver dams. A composting loo is available just a short walk away and is clean and comfortable.
Bamff is a lovely quiet and peaceful spot, safe for children and great for watching wildlife, hiking, cycling or just chilling out away from the stress of everyday life. If you want to go further afield, Alyth is only 3 miles away and has supermarkets, cafes, hotels, pubs, takeaways. There are several playparks and recreational spaces including golf courses, walks and mountain bike tracks.
  • Highly recommend Louise's place, it's a stunning, peaceful location, really wild and great place to get away to. Love the spot next to the beavers and we found it really cosy with the stove and hot water bottles :)

    Tierney2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely quiet spot in the forest next to amazing beaver pools. Great to chat to Louis and Paul about their re wilding project. Such a great space to support as well as a great space to enjoy some time out in! Thank you for the quick last minute check in too!

  • What an amazing experience - everything you want and more! Despite the fact it rained from start to finish we felt right at home :) We will be returning! What a fabulous weekend away with no phone reception surrounded by wilderness :)

    Naomi2019-12-09T00:00:00Z
  • An absolute must for silence and wildlife lovers. There is everything you need in there and the shower is incredible. Will definitely go back !

    Sébastien2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Although the accommodation in Hideaway is very basic that is part of it's charm. The separate shower worked very well with plenty of hot water, and the composting toilet although a little walk from the cottage was also fine. We needed to use the log burner but had no trouble lighting it as a starter kit was provided. We came to the hideaway to see the beavers, and we did , so we went away happy. It was very rainy during our stay, and quite muddy underfoot in places, so a good pair of wellies was essential. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return next summer.

    Briony2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ideal for an off-grid escape, lovely hosts and beavers just down from the cabin 🤩

    Elsa2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed. The beauty is all around you and you feel immersed in it. Tucked away on the edge of woodland and next to water, it simply is habitat heaven. The hideaway is spacious, comfortable but also it's simplicity is just perfect. We really did not want to leave.

    Laura2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is just as advertised, with its back to woods and facing north onto the river. The outdoor rainwater shower is really impressive - good flow and actually had to turn it cooler. And our first use of a compost loo without any problems - no smell, no flies! The cabin is basic as expected, but has all we needed for a relaxing break, with a very comfy bed. Enjoyed spotting the beavers - very interesting to see the impact of their efforts on the land. Good to chat with the hosts as well, who have embraced rewilding with a passion!

I have two pods to let, in the beautiful Glen Isla. Nearby is Alyth and Blairgowrie. You can enjoy walking the Cateran trail, as I am right on this trail, kayaking, mountain biking in the Alyth bike park. The place is stunning, peaceful and tranquil. A place to relax and unwind. There are also golf courses nearby in Alyth and Blairgowrie. The pods are about 6 miles from nearest town. For walkers Of the Cateran trail, I’d be happy to arrange transport. I’d love to welcome you to Eco pods Kilry.
The glamping pods are cosy and fully equipped with small kitchen area and bathrooms. All towels and bedding are supplied. Well behaved dogs are welcome too. Maximum of two. Perhaps additional upon request. Each pod has a bar b que area and fire pit, with individual picnic tables.
Lovely places to eat during the day are Bear cafe, Lintrathen and Peel farm. There is also a lovely gift shop at Peel farm. There are many distillery’s around the area for gin, whisky, and also golf courses. Some beautiful walks at Back water reservoir, Cateran trail and Alyth den, which also has a mountain biking park, as well as play parks for children.
  • Very cosy, brand new eco pod. Perfect for couples, there were three of us and we managed with extra bedding. It’s a beautiful place, however quite far from any shops/amenities restaurants. There is also no WiFi or network coverage in a pod. If you want to relax, recharge and disconnect, it’s a perfect place- we loved it! Kay is a great and friendly host.

The cottage has just been completely refurbished and is great for couples or families. It has a double room and a comfortable bunk room and enclosed garden. It is heated by a wood burning stove/electricity system with back boiler. All logs for this property are included in the price to encourage greener heating
The Gate Lodge is in a peaceful spot at the entrance to our environmentally managed Perthshire estate - next to the best beaver wetlands in the UK. Wildlife is abundant and the Cateran Trail runs through. Alyth Bike Park and Alyth'golf courses are all nearby. Our Lodge has just been completely refurbished so is wonderfully clean and up to date whilst being decorated in a style that suits a gate house to an estate. It is ideal for relaxing after a day exploring, either in the garden or on the sofa by the wood burning stove.
The Bamff Estate in itself is unusual especially in having a large area of beaver wetlands with many dams and pools where you may see beavers, otters, herons and many other species of wildlife. It is on the Cateran Trail, a 6 day walk which goes up into Glenshee and Glenisla. Bamff has its own little hill you can climb - it takes about 1 hour to get to the top and the view is well worth it, (on a clear day). Here you are on the Highland edge and can go either way - to play golf at Alyth or Blairgowrie - or even venture to St. Andrews or Carnoustie (both around one hour's drive) - or east to the Angus Glens, or north and west to the highlands for hill walking, kayaking etc. If whisky is your fancy then this is a good place from which to explore several distilleries. If birdlife is your bag then both Loch of the Lowes and Kinnordy are a wingbeat away. Or if its castles you crave, then we have them in quantities - Glamis, Scone, Balmoral and Blair Atholl are all under and hour by car. Craigievar and Crathes are a little further but well worth the trip. If the sun shines and you want a day on the beach then Lunan Bay to the north east is a lovely place and Tentsmuir forest or St. Andrews to the south east are both great beach destinations too. St Andrews East Sands are famous for featuring in Chariots of Fire and of course St.Andrews university is famous for being the meeting place of Prince William and the Duchess of Cambridge. For those of an archaeological bent we have Pictish stones in nearby Meigle museum and a Bronze Age fortress at Barry Hill, by Alyth. From the very local to the day trip Bamff is a perfect destination for all sorts of holiday-makers. Dundee and Perth are both close (45 minutes by car), and Stirling isn't too far (1 hr. 15 mins). Even Edinburgh is only 1 hr 45 minutes, and Aberdeen and Glasgow are not much more. There are good places to eat in Alyth and Blairgowrie - the Lands of Loyal Hotel and the Losset Inn in Alyth and Cargills and Littles in Blairgowrie are all very good. The Dome cafe in Blairgowrie is quaint and charming and the Alyth Fish and Chip shop is famed for its excellent fare. The Glenisla Hotel is a good place to eat and serves real ale. There are also some serious gourmet restaurants in the wider area which you will find in the Good Food Guide.

  • Bamff Estate is a very special place to be - peaceful, romantic and in the middle of nature. The people living there found remarkable ways of respecting nature and its resources. The Gate Lodge is a tasteful equipped small cottage. From there you can start wonderful hikes through the woods and over lovely medows. Fascinating - a guided tour with Paul to see beavors! You will never forget it!

    Irene2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • Enjoyable stay at this quirky cottage in the peaceful Perthshire countryside. The log burner was great for the cool nights. Paul already had it burning for our arrival and we purchased a couple of starter packs for £1.50 from the honesty shop for the next couple of nights. It was also great having a large enclosed garden so our dog could enjoy getting out and the relaxed attitude to our dog so she could walk about off the lead on the estate. We also enjoyed the walk to Alyth. Took us about 1 hour 15 minutes over the hill, some great views and a welcome with our dog at the Alyth Hotel for a couple of refreshments before heading back to the cottage. Also have to mention the double bed which was very comfortable and the wifi was good and kept our teenage daughter happy. Thanks again for the stay and would be happy to return in the future.

  • If you’re looking for a rustic rural get away then this is the place to go! A cosy gem with wonderful walks from the cottage.

    Hollie2019-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Gate Lodge was an amazing escape from our busy city life. I love the countryside and this lodge felt like it was in the middle of nowhere surrounded by trees. It was a beautiful space for us to relax for a couple days, there was also a large garden that in summer time would great to use! Louise was a fantastic host, quick to respond to messages.. the hosts popped down to introduce themselves and tell us how to get in touch if there was any issues, after that we were left to our own devices, which for us was ideal. We didn’t manage to spot any beavers but we almost had more fun out searching for them and there were lots of evidence that they had been busy at work! I would definitely return to stay at the lodge or one of the other accommodations they have to offer on the estate.

    Ailie2019-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Gate Lodge is a wonderful cosy cottage with everything you would expect in a home away from home. Location is perfect to allow guests to enjoy some lovely walking on the Cateran Trail. I particularly loved being able to walk over in to and back from Alyth. Lots of signs of beavers but no sightings sadly and will certainly be back for a longer stay next time. Recommend very highly

Blairgowrie is a year round holiday destination boasting arguably the finest golf course in Scotland with hunting, shooting, fishing, walking, cycling, climbing, all manner of water-sports and seasonal skiing all easily accessible. • Beautiful setting and exactly what we needed for a weekend skiing in Glenshee as its only 35 mins to the Ski Centre. Gordon and Katie were so lovely and accommodating and look us out for a walk with their dogs on Sunday. Would highly recommend for a Scottish countryside break!

Welcome to Sunnyhall Cottage Bothy! The Bothy is a small, but perfectly formed, newly renovated residence. Set in the beautiful area of Lundie, this little dwelling is full of charm and personality. It sits alongside our own cottage so as well as having the privacy of your own self catering living space, there is usually someone about should you have any questions or require any assistance. The setting is tranquil, with beautiful walks but it is also within easy reach of Dundee and Perth.
The Bothy is at the end of a private road so there is no passing traffic and plenty car parking space. We do have dogs and they are often just out and about working away with us. We have three Cocker Spaniels (very friendly) and two Pyrenean Sheepdogs (fairly timid but they can bark at strangers). We welcome dogs but as this is a very small house, we would prefer you to provide us with details prior to booking. The Bothy has a comfortable living space/kitchen area, complete with a wood burner, TV, cooker/microwave and fridge freezer. There is a large shower area and the bedroom has a comfortable king size bed. There is a small storage room, perfect for boots and jackets and next to the central heating boiler, just in case you need to dry anything off. There is no washing machine but our own machine can be used on request. WiFi is now available in The Bothy.
This is a very special area, close to town yet off the beaten track. Wildlife is literally on our doorstep. We regularly see roe deer, red squirrels and ospreys in the fields, woodland and loch areas. In this area there is something for all. Go walking in the surrounding area or the beautiful Angus Glens. Glamis Castle and grounds are a short drive away. Visit attractions in Dundee such as the V & A, the RRS Discovery or Verdant Works. Visit Broughty Ferry and enjoy traditional music at The Fisherman’s Tavern on a Thursday evening, enjoy one of the many restaurants or indulge in fish and chips or ice cream sitting by the beach. For the golfing enthusiast, there are many courses in the area. The championship courses at Carnoustie, St Andrews and Gleneagles are all within reach by car. Auchterhouse Country sports is a five minute drive away and offers Clay Pigeon Shooting, Quad Bike Trecks and Archery. Information on local attractions and amenities will be in The Bothy.
  • Great location, amazing bothy which is fully equipped. We loved the wood burning fire.. made the bothy so cosy. Great walks in surrounding areas and ideal area for doggies.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bothy. We were welcomed by a roaring fire, and a stunning home. It’s not often you can find a dog friendly property decorated to such a high standard. The property is incredibly beautiful. The surroundings were beautiful and our dog loved the walks available from the door step. Sandy and Sheona were incredibly helpful and welcoming. And we loved the little touches such as milk, teas and coffees etc. Thank you so much.

    Lisa2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the Bothy. Sheona and Sandy are friendly and welcoming, the surrounding area is beautiful and peaceful, and the Bothy itself was impeccably tidy and finished to a high standard.

  • Amazing little hideaway where you can sit in peace and read a book or go for a walk around the nearby loch and let your worries and stress dissipate! Fantastic host, and great little touches in the bothy that made it feel like home for our couple of nights away!

Fordyce is right next to a fine old church with magnificent spire. The room is large with comfortable double bed, wardrobes, wifi, table and chairs, bookcases, local info and tea/coffee making facilities. Blair is an attractive central location for golfers, walkers, cyclists and skiers, with complex landscape, archaeology and culture. It is also a handy stopping off place on the way between Edinburgh Airport and Skye, Aberdeen, Inverness and the Highlands.
As I'm a writer, the house is full of books, which visitors are welcome to browse. One of the things I write about is contemporary art and this is reflected in the decor of the house. A peregrine falcon used to perch on top of the neighbouring church spire, but hasn't been seen lately. However, a couple of bats emerge from the spire at dusk and a hedgehog is a regular visitor to the garden. Everyone is welcome, whether it's for local work, touring Scotland, getting away from it all, or exploring the local area.
Blairgowrie is a bustling, traditional Scottish town, with a population of 10,000, nestling on the banks of the River Ericht. People used to work in waterside mills. Now 'Castle Water' is the town's principle employer. Blair has a range of independent shops (butcher's, fish, deli, antiques), as well as a range of cafés, pubs and restaurants. Wetherspoon's operates from what used to be a branch of Woolworths. Little's is a superb fish restaurant in a converted church. Other fine dining options include the Meiklour Arms (with shooting and fishing associations) and Ballathie House Hotel on the Tay. Getting back to basics, Sainsbury's is one minute walk away, while a large Tesco is a 5-minute stroll. This part of Perthshire is a great place for hiking, cycling, and touring by car. The surrounding landscape contains lovely walks (the Cateran Trail), incorporating woods, farmland, lochs, hills, rivers, stone circles, museums (several with unique collections of Pictish stones) and castles. Some of the richest people in the UK have property in Perthshire, often in large estates. Thankfully, the Right to Roam legislation means that these estates (and land in general) can be walked through by the public. The River Tay and its branches, (Ericht and Isla) contain dramatic gorges as well as meandering plains where the river is flanked by floodbanks made centuries ago by monks from Coupar Angus (5 miles away). Blairgowrie is particularly proud of its landscaped golf course, Rosemount, one of the finest inland courses in the UK. There are quaint towns nearby, including Kirriemuir, birthplace of JM Barrie, creator of 'Peter Pan'; and Dunkeld, with its old cathedral, rolling River Tay and a museum dedicated to Beatrix Potter, who used to holiday there. The 20-minute drive to Dunkeld is studded with lovely lochs, including Loch of the Lowes where ospreys nest. Glamis Castle, birthplace of the Queen Mother, is also a relatively short drive.

Everything you need is right here; 2 double bedrooms, bathroom with bath and shower overhead, cosy sitting/dining room with wood burning stove and a little kitchen fully equipped with cooker, fridge, microwave and all you need to make your stay just perfect. We breed sheep and cows and in the winter the cattle are housed in near by sheds. The cottage has a one bedroom bothy attached to the end with separate access. The surrounding countryside is what you would expect of rural Perthshire - mountains, lochs, stunning views, rich history, peace and quiet. This is a great place to be based as there is much to explore. The place is yours to enjoy. We live and work on the farm and are happy for farming tours / questions ect.
Situated on a working farm in the Glenisla valley, Incheoch Farm Cottage is an ideal base to relax and explore this wonderful area of Scotland. The cottage is light and airy with open views over the countryside.
  • Lovely place to stay

    Dean2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely stay in the cottage, it is clean, cosy, well equipped and very charming. We were able to have a look around the farm, our young son loved looking out for the cows each morning. There were lots of facilities in the cottage for him (travel cot, highchair, books and toys) which made our stay much easier. We were visiting family in Alyth which is about 10 minutes away, so the location is great, and is very quiet with lovely scenery. We will definitely come to stay again!

  • We spent a few days with four plus two little babies in Debbies Cottage and really enjoyed the time! The cottage is super comfortable, the kitchen is very well equipped and even made firewood for the fireplace. The cottage is located right on a road but is completely enclosed by a hedge and a fence and after a few meters on the road you can turn on dirt roads between the sheep and cow meadows. Also, the Cateran Trail goes for hiking right past the farm and just a mile away along the road leads to a great waterfall. The communication with Debbie was great! Great host, great cottage, gladly again!

  • Wonderfully located for access to many beautiful walks and visits. We enjoyed easy access to Glenshee, Scone Palace, Dundee and Broughty Ferry beach. The weather was warm and the cottage retained a comfortable coolness through the night. We were very comfortable in the lounge area and the Kitchen is well set up for all your cooking needs. With two bedrooms available, the one we used had a very comfortable bed in which we slept extremely well. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the cottage and were genuinely saddened to leave.

    Kristiyan2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Tatiana was very welcoming and lovely. Her house is a real family house so it really felt like home. She didn't checked us in personally but it was due to personal circumstances and her friend let us into the house which was ok. It was a bit tricky to find her house in the first place cuz we didn't have a house number and Google maps showed us a house at a street which wasn't Tatiana's. But we just had to walk up the street a bit more and finally found the house straight across a car park. The bed we slept in was quite squeaky but the room was dark and quiet at night so we still could sleep. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking. Tatiana gave us some great tips for hiking but unfortunately we already had other plans and couldn't explore them. I would recommend. Thank you, Tatiana!

The kitchen is brilliant and the view whilst dining is magnificent. The beds were very comfy and there is a pool table and a table tennis outfit to keep you fit. I would definitely recommend this place and Moira asa kind and unobtrusive hostess. She left us the basic foodstuffs you need for the first day. We would stay here again. Brilliant.

  • We had an amazing time at Murray’s cottage. The cottage is very cosy, and everything is provided. The grounds are beautiful and we enjoyed walking our dog around the grounds and around the golf course which is right next door. Murray is very helpful and friendly.

  • The house is really cute and cosy, really clean, and close to Glenshee ski resort. Nb no wifi and also really low roof in the bedroom, I hit my head twice (but I am really clumsy) but apart from this a really lovely stay and I would definitely come again once this pandemic is over!

    Julia2020-03-20T00:00:00Z

New Alyth, near Blairgowrie, United Kingdom

The South Yurt is a cosy glamping space for two with a comfortable double bed, wood-burning stove with tea making facilities and decking area with small barbecue. The fairy lights, led lanterns and reading lights over the bed are all solar powered. There is car parking space approximately 10 metres away and it is a short stroll of approx. 30 metres to the yurt facilities in Bamff House where there is a kitchenette, dining area, toilet, wet-room shower shared with the North Yurt.
Bamff Estate is a relatively small organic sheep farm and conservation estate. It is home to a large variety of wildlife including its own beaver colony which has been established since 2002. The two Mongolian yurts were set up near to the house in 2016 and are open to guests throughout the year. They have been adapted for the Scottish climate and are raised on circular decking platforms. The flooring is coconut matting with kilim scatter rugs and is warm and cosy. The South Yurt has a king size bed and the North Yurt has a specially made bed which can be fitted together to make a super king size bed or used separately as twin beds. The solar panel which powers the ambient lighting and telephone charging sockets was added in 2018 and is a popular addition.
Alyth has a decent sized Co-op, and also a Scot-mid supermarket, there is a butcher, newsagent, ironmongers, camping and caravan store, several excellent cafes, pubs and inns and a chinese takeaway and an award winning fish and chip shop. There are three public playparks, the one next to the burn is locally referred to as the "wee park" , the larger playpark in Victoria park along the Losset Road and there is also a playpark at the Alyth Den along the Bamff road.
  • What a wonderful place to stay! The yurt was wonderful with some lovely little touches inside to make it homely and cosy, we especially loved the wood burning stove! The beavers were another fantastic feature, such a tranquil place to stay. Would very much recommend to anyone and I sincerely hope we will make a return one day. Thanks so much to our welcoming hosts!

  • Yurt very clean and comfortable. Additional spaces in main house for cooking, shower and tv/relaxing a real bonus. Great location for walks/ exploring and really enjoyed our stay

    Roy2019-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • The location is beautiful and serene. Not too difficult a place to get to but off the grid if you want to zone out and relax. It is very fascinating to observe the beavers and they way they change the landscape. Overall a really good place to visit.

    Marianna2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing space to get away from things. On Christmas Eve the woodland was covered in ice and the full moon lit it up like a Christmas card. I heard the beavers splashing about enjoying it too. The yurt is a magical space to retreat into alongside the other facilities, it is a lovely space to be. The family are really great and hospitable. I enjoyed my 40th and Christmas in this space and am most happy with my choice. I might be back....

    Lou2018-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • Louise and Paul have created a really special place at Bamff. We loved our stay - the highlight was the beaver walk (although we just missed out on seeing the beavers). The yurt was very cosy and the hosts were able to provide a cot for our son too.

This is a well thought out location The location is beautiful, within easy distance of visiting place such as Glamis castle etc Our thanx to Paul and Louise for their hospitality Well worth a visit

    Pauline2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Incredibly welcoming hosts! The yurt is very comfortable and has a cute wood stove that really heats things up. The beavers are fun to watch, for a patient observer.
