This cabin can be your home during your travels. Cabin is located on the same property as main house. Equipped with a full kitchen, outdoor charcoal grill, electric and gas heat, (fireplace is gas), AC, WIFI and a Roku for streaming to watch television. With so many beautiful outdoor hiking or walking areas located nearby, or just a short drive to the city for a night out this cabin does have the best of both worlds.
  • This is a great place. It’s just the right size. It’s quiet and out of the way. There are some great nature preserves and hiking locations near by. I highly recommend this place.

  • Great little cabin for taking some time off the city during the winter. I definitely recommend it and would love to go there in the summer!

  • Had an excellent time staying at Chelsi’s place. It was the perfect getaway. Everything was very neat and cozy. Would definitely go back.

  • I have had the most amazing time and will definitely be returning very very soon. It was so clean and cozy and had everything we could possibly need for our stay. I can't say much more other than that Chelsi is amazing and her instructions are so simple and pretty straight forward so that you know what to expect when arriving, how you can access all that is available during your stay and what you need to do when leaving. I would definitely recommend this cabin to anyone.

  • It was an amazing experience to stay in The Knox Cabin! We were first greeted by a friendly hen and walked us to the door. The hen knows the path to the cabin, so you just have to follow her, she knows better! We loved the homey and comfy ambiance of the cabin. We instantly fell in love with it! Once the fireplace lights up, it warms the entire cabin. Cooking utensils can be found in the kitchen. There's a wine and liquor store nearby to grab a bottle or two of red and white wine. A perfect place to give yourself a break from your busy and chaotic life. Thanks so much to Chelsi for giving us more than enough space to park our long truck and for making us feel welcomed! Highly recommendable vacation place! We will surely come back in Spring or Summer!

  • This cabin is the perfect place for a quiet weekend away! Our hosts offered many suggestions for things to do in the area but our favorite activity was cosying up next to the fireplace and watching a movie. The space was clean and well-equipped with enough cookware and dishware for us to make our meals. This was an amazing space for our vacation and we will gladly be back!

    Ash2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • The space was absolutely wonderful! Chelsi's responses were quick and easy, the space was absolutely stunning in the winter time (the snow!!), and it was the perfect cozy getaway for the weekend. I would definitely go back!

  • Chelsi's cabin was wonderful and we had a great weekend there. The cabin was cozy and private and Chelsi gave us some great tips on some hiking spots.

PLEASE READ ENTIRE LISTING BEFORE BOOKING OR INQUIRING. Enjoy spectacular sunrises year round in the outdoor hot-tub. Near Thacher Park. In warm months, swimming, kayaking, paddle-boating, and paddle-boarding are all available. Our wildlife includes beaver, herons, bald eagles, and ospreys. We pride ourselves on being a well-looked after camp. If you require AC, luxuries, the hub-bub of the town, or a spotlessly professional cleaning to grant five stars, please consider a lovely local hotel. :)
NOISE: The lake community tends to be very quiet. Please keep music indoors. To respect our neighbors’ peace, please adhere to quiet hours between 10pm and 9am. DISTANCE: We are a ways up into the hills. Please either bring along your groceries or be prepared to drive at least 20 minutes to the grocery store or restaurants. WATERFRONT: The dock is seasonal. We do our best to get in it by May. It usually comes out by October. TV: Please note: There is a tv downstairs, though we only have the most basic of channels.
Aside from the 4th of July or the occasional party across the lake, our neighborhood tends to be very peaceful. Daytime fun and laughter is to be expected and encouraged, but please use hushed voices outside at night. Please keep music indoors at all times.
  • We could find almost all possible amenities that we needed. It was more than my expectations.

  • This was absolutely INCREDIBLE.

  • Amazing weekend getaway, just outside the Capital Region. Liesl was so attentive to special touches and any possible amenities a guest may need. The photos offered a decent first look at the property. However, upon arrival, they didn’t do the home justice. The views were gorgeous; home was wonderful cosy and clean, and the hot tub was the cherry on top during the wintery weekend. Despite being millennials, we didn’t need the tv with the many games and books provided to us. Would highly recommend to both locals and out of town folks.

    Nicole2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This cozy cabin is a real gem! Liesl is one of the most gracious hosts I’ve had and always checked in on us. The views are spectacular and the cabin is picturesque cozy. We had such a wonderful stay and hope to do it again some time! Thank you again!

    Jenn2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • We loved it. Fit our needs well for our niece’s Wedding. Would definitely go back.

  • The cottage was lovely with a beautiful view of the lake and we enjoyed using the hot tub. The host met us when we arrived and was very friendly the cottage was very clean and spacious and when we were leaving the host gave us a bag of pears and they were great for our next part if our road trip

  • This is the perfect getaway from the craziness of the work week. Whether you are travelling from 5 or 500 miles away to get a breath of fresh air, this is a peaceful and beautiful location to do it. The lake house has the coziness of camp but with all the amenities of home. Step out on the back deck and your cares disappear. The view of the lake and surrounding hills is so calming. Having access to the kayaks and paddle boat are an added bonus. Liesl and Stu have created a great home away from home for a couples get-away or a family weekend at your "summer home" without any of the responsibilities after you leave.

    Brian2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • We can't thank you enough for the hospitality you shared with good friends and family during our wedding weekend. They were more than thrilled with the beautiful, picturesque accommodations at your lovely home. The lake was beautiful for swimming, paddle boarding, and kayaking. The outdoor decking and hot tub were the icing on the cake! We look forward to recommending your home in the future to our friends and family and renting it ourselves for a close by getaway. Or very convenient for travelers just passing through! Close to I-88, I-90, and I-87! Doing some shopping? Crossgates mall is an 18 minute drive. In addition, one hour from Cooperstown and 48 minutes from SPAC.
A quant bedroom space with a closet, dresser, desk and chair. And a window overlooking a beautiful backyard and woods.
Church across the street. My home is right off of Route 20, easy to find!
  • Lydia is an excellent host! So friendly and kind and welcoming. The bed is super comfy and everything lovely and clean. Beautiful personal touches with her own original artwork. Plus, there are two totally charming four-legged hosts included as a special bonus-- Maxine (dog) and Chandler (cat)! Hoping to have the opportunity to stay at Lydia's again!

    Gretchen2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • I've traveled across the globe on AirBnB and this was one of my favorites. Everything from this hostess is highly thoughtful. She has a sparkling personality with 5 star type hospitality. Her house is well decorated, clean and equipped for a night or even a year stay. Her dog is super friendly and cat is cute as can be. She has space outside for a fire, seating on a porch or throwing a frisbee. The room had a Keruig, complimentary water, towels and a nice closet. Wi-Fi included. And a bathroom to yourself. Shes a great person and I highly recommend her.

    Kat2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house in a small town. Easy to get into and the mattress is to die for. Although it was raining and gloomy, the space was warm and cozy. I didn't get to meet Lydia though, so I'll have to make a special trip to do so.

    Danielle2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Large room, soft carpet, clean place, tables, two cats and one dog, quiet area, warm.

    Jason2019-12-17T00:00:00Z
  • Very friendly host and pets. Nice quiet stay.

    Brad2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely amazing place to stay, Lydia is thoughtful and kind, Maxine(her dog) is so cuddly and fun I loved playing catch with her. All of the amenities from the bathroom to the bed were very clean, with freshly washed sheets on a super comfortable bed.

    Sean2019-06-30T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommended. As advertised, this is a clean, simple room, with a very comfortable bed at a modest price. Lydia was very friendly and helpful. Communication was simple before we got there and during our stay. Water pressure in the shower was outstanding! Just what we were looking for!

  • This was a stylish place in a very scenic area. Ann was very responsive and the stay was enjoyable.

    Bill2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Ann is a lovely host and this apartment has everything you need. My girlfriend and I stayed here while snowboarding at Windham; it was only 30 minutes away and a great price. The town is very small, but really is beautiful and quiet in the winter. The waterfall right across the street was a nice touch! There are a few convenience stores about 15 minutes away, but if you plan to do a big shopping I would stop at Walmart on the way there (about 30 min away). Would definitely stay here again next time we venture to Windham.

    Joe2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • The apartment is beautiful and located in a lovely scenic area, we really loved our stay.

    Cailene2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Ann's apartment was the perfect escape from NYC, it's clean warm and thoughtfully decorated. I took an awesome hot shower and cooked a yummy dinner in the very cute small kitchen space. Even though we visited in late December, the drive was beautiful and it was really awesome to listen to the waterfall just across the street. We'll be back in the spring and ready to hike in the area :)

    Ashley2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place in the center of town, next to hiking trails and has a great view of the waterfall. Ann is wonderful and very responsive. Looking forward to booking again in the future!

A lovely private room with a double bed and an attached bathroom with shower. Quiet country setting amid farms and woodland. Deck overlooks pond and wetland, great for birdwatching. You are welcome in the sitting room with fireplace and beautiful view over the pond.
Private room with double bed and attached bathroom in country home. Breakfast items available: cereal, toast, coffee, tea, orange juice, plain yogurt, skim milk.
We are just a mile away from John Boyd Thacher State Park, with its many hiking trails and spectacular views of the Helderberg Escarpment. Around us are farms and a wetland; the birding is great. We are only about 30 to 45 minutes from the many cultural attractions of Albany, Schenectady, and Troy.
  • This pond house was in a perfect location for any trip to Thacher Park. Melanie and Paul were both so thoughtful and courtious, and their home was very clean and organized.

  • Great location!

    Andrew2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely home and generously shared by our hosts. It is just outside a state park so is quiet. The bedroom and private bath are clean and comfortable. The great room faces the deck overlooking the pond and is a lovely place to relax. The kitchen was at our disposal for breakfast. Our hosts made sure we had everything we needed and offered just the right amount of attention.

  • A peaceful little retreat with a clean, cozy room. I enjoyed the wraparound deck with a beautiful view of the pond and marsh. A perfect stop just a step away from the beautiful State park and lake!

    Bria2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this beautiful home and took advantage of the close proximity to both Albany and the local state park! Melanie and Paul’s thoughtful touches made our stay fantastic. Perfect for a quiet getaway on the way north to the Adirondacks.

    Laura2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Melanie and Paul were incredibly accommodating and flexible. The guest room is very neat and homey, with its own dedicated full bathroom - I felt very comfortable and that my privacy was respected. They provided me with the autonomy I needed for the day (I had to come-and-go, as I was attending a wedding). The basket of toiletries on the bureau is a fabulous touch. Thanks so much, Melanie and Paul!

A mixture of early attic and cool re-purposed treasures, this quiet, quaint Cabin overlooks our 8 acre lake. Skylights & starshine reconnect you to the natural world. Wonderful for relaxation, peaceful exploration, fishing, artist or writers retreat
This cabin has a glassed in porch overlooking the lake, complete with rocking chairs. Loft, open living area and half bath. Bathroom has a composting/camping toilet, full bath is in main building, a short walk from the cabin. Water containers with pumps provide fresh well water in the kitchen and the bathroom for drinking and washing. The cabin is also equipped with a small refrigerator, a toaster oven, electric kettle, a double burner cooktop and French press. This cabin is cute and funky with lots of charm! We are a plant, wildlife, and butterfly sanctuary! We grow a lot of plants to maintain and support a variety species. Our property is not highly manicured - if that won't work for you, then another location may be more appropriate. There is a path around the 8 acre lake, and although we have an abundance of wildflowers, there many areas to swim. We have puzzles, games, cards etc for those that like to play and a large library of books in our main building that you can borrow during your stay. Wi-Fi is also available in the main building, for checking email, getting directions etc. We are constantly upgrading and improving our cabin -- new artwork, bedding, general coziness and fun stuff! Please note, this is a cabin in the woods and there are wild creatures that live here. There is always a chance that one of these small beings can find their way into the cabin, if this is a problem for you please do not book the cabin. We have other listings that may be better suited to your needs. Please contact us about them. We do suggest that you put all food and drink away as leaving these items out can attract creatures to the building. 90 acre Holistic Retreat Center and Organic Farm (Garden of One). Full bath and other amenities in main building, a short walk from the cabin. The cabin is available year round, it has a rocket stove mass heater. Please note: We provide wood for heating the cabin, but it must be chopped down to kindling size for use in the rocket stove. We have a special tool for this that we leave for our guests. Be sure to bring whatever gear you need to be comfortable outside while using it. Cabin can accommodate up to 5 people, there’s a queen bed, beanbag bed in the loft and a single futon bed. A cot can be set up in the living room area ($20 additional per nite/per extra person over 2) Also, please consider your pet as another person and add $20 per nite for your fur baby! We are working farm, and sometimes have animals that need short term special care. So you may find a baby chicken, turkey, duck, pig or rabbit nestled in a box or tub inside the main building. Most often you will be able to interact with them but please ask first! We use all organic and natural cleaning products and methods in all of our rentals, private and public space. Lovely swim-able private lake, forest & gardens. Canoeing, fishing (catch and release), and hiking available on our property. Also nearby (2 miles up the road) is a 2500 acre hiking/nature preserve. Full organic meal plans offered separately (and we are happy to pack a lunch for you if you're going to be out and about) -- can accommodate gluten & dairy free and most specialized diets. Please make arrangements ahead of your stay for any meals you would like us to provide. We also offer picnics (with a real basket and everything!) that you can have on site or take on your travels (again, by prior arrangement). Sauna, Ionizing Foot Bath and private sessions (massage, reiki, ear coning, health consults and more) also usually available, please ask for our fee schedule and plan ahead.
Very rural, even though we are only 25 miles from Albany, NY the capital of NYS. Quiet and peaceful, in fact you will probably not see any neighbors at all. Near Albany, Berne, Cobleskill, Greenville, Oak Hill, Middleburgh, Schoharie, Westerlo, Windham
  • This was my second trip to the cabin, about 3 years after my first. It was even cuter than I remembered, and Rachel and Brian added some more touches and features. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful weekend away from city life. Make sure to go out at night and just look up at the stars! We were looking forward to the lack of cell reception and loved how quiet it was here. We also loved the game cabinet. The cabin was very cozy and we were able to keep it warm in February by using the fireplace as directed. Thanks for a great trip and we hope to be back someday!

    Ramya2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We spent the weekend in this snowy cabin and we had the most memorable time. Bryan was so helpful anytime we needed him and the location is so beautiful. We hope to come back!

    Nicole2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful place, very clean.

    Alana2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Great little getaway! The area’s quite rural, as you’d hope (bring groceries) and the property is lovely, with a large preserve a few minutes down the road for woods walks. Rachel was out of town during our two-night stay, but Brian was very friendly and accommodating, and readily available in case anything came up. Our winter stay was just what we’d hoped for — we’d been planning on enjoying a quiet few days feeding the fire and relaxing without WiFi or cell service, and this did the trick. Cozy, appealing space for those who are looking to (lightly) rough it for a spell. Thanks Rachel and Brian — we’ll be back!

    Hunter2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is absolutely perfect for travelers looking for a getaway out in nature! Photos and description are all accurate. It was so much fun to chop your own wood to keep the cabin warm, drink tea overlooking the lake, cook meals, play board games and hike around! This was exactly the kind of trip we wanted. Cozy, fun and relaxing!

    Alyssa2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time getting off the grid for a few days! The space was perfect, clean, and lots of special touches. We look forward to visiting again!

    Rachel2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem, a wonderful place that becomes rarer and rarer in our populated space. Back to nature state would be a good definition to a weekend in this cabin. The rocker stove works great even if it did struggle this weekend when it was 4 degrees F outside. Rachel and Brian are wonderful hosts, highly recommend their place and hospitality.

Our homestead, Misty Isle Acres, is our little imperfect oasis, nestled within the beautiful Helderberg hilltowns of Albany county. Our in-law apartment contains a bedroom, full bathroom, and living room with TV, DVD player, and a futon. There is also an enclosed porch and deck, complete with tables, chairs, hammock chair, and grill. We also have a large pond and woods to explore. Please note, this is a working homestead; the grass isn't always mowed and sometimes there are animal smells.
Depending on the year and season, we will have various animals, which may include chickens, turkeys, lambs, and a rabbit. Fresh eggs will be provided when available. Please note, there is no Internet access and certain cell phone providers have spotty service at our location.
Our secluded property is within a short driving distance of parks, hiking trails, lakes, and restaurants. Only 10 minutes from the quaint village of Altamont and 30 minutes to Howe Caverns, Secret Caverns, and Albany attractions.
  • This place is a hidden gem. Very much off the beaten path you will find the gorgeous place with a cute little pond and many animals. Jonathan was a great host and the place was perfect.

    Emmett2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is a perfect half-way stop for us traveling between family in Boston and Ithaca, and we hope to make it one we return to! Jonathan was very accommodating for us traveling with a small toddler, and his farm was such a beautiful and peaceful place to break up our drive for the night we stayed there. Like everyone else has mentioned, the farm-fresh eggs were a delight, but so was getting to go and show our daughter the chickens they came from!

    Gregory2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This stay was absolutely amazing! The amenities were so thoughtful, down to the farm fresh eggs we ate for breakfast. It was sparkling clean and we would definitely recommend staying here for the night whether it’s an extended stay or just passing through for the night.

    Veda2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was the perfect weekend getaway and we’ll definitely be back in the future!

    Kristen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was such a great little getaway. Jonathan was very warm and welcoming and the space was idyllic. I highly recommend a stay at their Misty Acres; I know have it bookmarked for future visits to the area.

  • We had a great time during our stay at Jonathan’s place. We had everything we needed during our weekend stay. Fresh farm eggs left for us were delicious. The house is not far from the shopping centers and great little restaurants. We got lucky that it snowed during our stay, so it was pretty awesome seeing everything covered in white.

    Alex2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay!! Jonathan was very accommodating- let us check in early and left us some fresh eggs to enjoy! Very quiet place to relax - it was perfect for us!!

Solar lanterns will light your way through the forest to this cozy electricity-free yurt with a view of our swim-able lake and a groovy clear dome for your star gazing pleasure. If you want to reconnect with nature, then this yurt's for you!
Cozy Yurt or Mongolian Round House is a short walk from our 8 acre lake. The 12 foot diameter yurt can accommodate 3-4 people, if you like being snug! This electricity-free space has two amazing beanbag beds, dresser, shelves and strings of fairy lights make for a fun & funky stay There is an outdoor privacy tent with composting toilet right by the yurt. Also a stone patio with bistro seating and a chiminea! Shower and other amenities are in the main building, a short walk from the yurt. Lovely swim-able private lake, forest & gardens. Canoeing, fishing and hiking available on our property. Please talk with us first before bringing pets. Also, please consider your pet as another person and add $20 per nite for your fur baby! We use all organic and natural cleaning products and methods in all of our rentals, private and public space. Please note, this is a yurt in the woods and there are wild creatures that live here. There is always a chance that one of these small beings can find their way into the yurt, if this is a problem for you please do not book the yurt. We have other listings that may be better suited to your needs. Please contact us about them. Our 90 acre Holistic Retreat Center and Organic Farm (Garden of One) is open all year. The yurt is available spring, summer and fall, it should be winterized by this fall. However if you like winter camping the Yurt would be a perfect glamping spot We are working farm, and sometimes have animals that need short term special care. So you may find a baby chicken, turkey, duck, pig or rabbit nestled in a box or tub inside the main building. Most often you will be able to interact with them but please ask first!
Near Albany, Berne, Catskill, Cairo, Cobleskill, East Durham, Greenville, Hunter, Knox, Medusa, Oak Hill, Middleburgh, Schoharie, Westerlo, Windham.
  • Rachel was so informative and helpful. She provided directions and lists of things to do in the area, as well as quick replies to my inquiries. Brian is a gem of a human who showed us around the gorgeous property and made us feel very welcome. We got to spend time with the goats, which we loved, we canoed out on the private pond, walked the labyrinth, toured the fairie gardens. Roosters in the morning, owls at night. The complete darkness is such a welcome sight ;) coming from a heavy light polluted area. We were given tons of extra blankets which kept us snug and warm all night. The property itself, as well as the surrounding area, is so beautiful I imagine we will be making this a regular trip.

  • If you are looking to completely unplug from the stress and anxiety of the city, this is the place for you. This electricity-free and service-free yurt will help you quiet your mind and give you a chance to reflect with nature. Rachel and Bryan are lovely hosts, who are very kind and will give you space if you need it or genuine conversations about life, nature, and well-being. Don't be afraid of their dogs -- they are big, but they are gentle giants and just want to cuddle and play all the time. The property is beautiful and definitely reminds you of the simpler things in life!

  • My granddaughters and I loved the YURT at GARDEN OF ONE! The girls thought the beanbag beds were awesome, and Brian accommodated me with a nicely padded floormat for my own sleeping bag. Excellent outdoor kitchen for breakfasts after a great home-cooked breakfast at Rachel and Brian's the first morning: fresh eggs and savory chickpea cakes. ----The girls loved the Pond while I read and relaxed on the hammock, plus fun tours of the Faerie Garden, the Meditation Labyrinth, and treks on the pond path. Rachel was very busy which took her away during our stay, but husband Brian was absolutely super with my g'kids: they thoroughly enjoyed the farm, all the animals -- especially treating the ponies to carrots and brushing Houston while Brian explained hoof care to my girls as he trimmed them. They even named a baby goat! Great location for exploring the area, including one of the only drive-in movie theatres left in America, and Howe Caverns. ----Please don't stay in the yurt unless you are open to being in the midst of nature!! There are no amenities other than your own sense of peace, contemplation, writing, reading… It was exactly what we wanted, away from electronics, listening to the bullfrogs at night -- roosters, goats, chickens by day… Other than the camping kitchen, the only amenity was the outdoor compostable “toilet” with wood shavings. You are truly in nature! ----And please recognize this is a working farm and their home!! There are no spotless grounds neatly manicured for guests like a hotel – There’s no housekeeping staff: there are exuberant dogs, noisy farm critters, plants and plantings, manure, mud, dust, clutter, repair work, tools, rough roads, the works! A really nice couple making their farm life a reality. There’s no real community space either, other than at a pre-arranged time, Brian and Rachel make their house available: They have a dining nook available when you pre-order meals (with a great Roman-style heating bench system we learned about from Brian) and have a spotless bathroom with shower for guests to use at an agreeable time. -- I was also happy to purchase some of their lovely products: Brian suggested their magnesium-boron Mineral Liniment for my achy joints, which I tried and liked and bought and USE! As well as an insect repellent/after-bite that they make and market under their Garden of One label, smells heavenly and the girls loved it for the inevitable mosquito bites. Available online. -- Next time, the girls want to try the cabin… So we will be sure to book again next year! A really terrific experience, one that this grandmother and her two granddaughters will treasure forever.

  • This is an ideal spot to unplug, unhook, and reconnect with the serenity of the woods. The accouterments are rustic but your needs will be met: a sturdy yurt, fresh water, an outdoor cooking area, a composting toilet, a chiminea for fires, a pond for a dip, plenty of space, and bear bags... because you are indeed in the woods. Bryan and Rachel are wonderful hosts. They are accessible but respectful of your privacy, available even though fairly busy working on their farm, and genuinely kind hearted people.

  • My partner and I stayed here for a couple nights and it was exactly what we needed! Beautiful night skies, farm animals, a lake, canoe, hiking close by. Definitely surrounded by nature. We booked last minute and Brian was very responsive and accommodating! We arrived late, around 11pm, and Brian met us and showed us around like it was the middle of the day. He was made us feel comfortable and at ease as soon as we got out of the car. The farm is wonderful, and I love that it is off-grid. We unfortunately booked too late to get meals included, but there is an outdoor kitchen so we had no problems making our own meals. Everything was very clean and the bean bags are surprisingly comfortable! We brought our pup and she was able to be off leash. The yurt has multiple heavy curtains instead of doors, so we did keep our pup on leash at night and fastened to the inside of the yurt. This was not a problem for us, but might be important to others thinking about bringing pets along! She was still able to have full range of the yurt with her long leash. Also, definitely bring bug spray/sleep in long johns and socks. All in all a perfect weekend in the woods and would come back any time! I definitely recommend! Thank you so much!

  • A perfect low-key long weekend away! The yurt is extremely cozy, and we had a great time cooking great outdoor dinners in their little camping kitchen, stargazing by the lake, and warming up by a fire on our last night. And we held newborn baby goats delivered on the premises! Brian was a kind, thoughtful host who cooked us a mean breakfast our first morning. Thank you!

  • A whole lot of WONDERFUL!! If you are seeking a unique, relaxing and beautiful experience this is a place to find it!! We (my husband and 4.5 yr old son) enjoyed EVERY part of our stay at Rachel and Brian's: "yurting", canoeing, visiting farm animals, hiking, lake swimming, wandering around the fairy forrest and labyrinth walking. We took the 3 meal/day food plan and had amazingly delicious and varied farm fresh healthy meals which included homemade breads, including gluten free options (I have Celiac disease). Moreover, they were able to deal with our son's somewhat picky eating habits ... they even got him to try fresh cooked red beets and he loved them!! Thank you, Rachel and Brian, for being such gracious and thoughtful hosts. Side note: If you want a change up to your idyllic days at Brian and Rachel's there are many terrific places to visit around the Rensselaerville (a lovely little hamlet) area. Brian and Rachel were super knowledgeable and helpful on this front as well.

Charming beautiful timber frame farmhouse. Private and quiet winter home retreat. Ideal for families, artists, and remote workers. Close by we have hiking, skiing, yoga, Ayurvedic health classes, shooting sports (hunting, trap, target, and safety courses), snow shoeing, and camping, just to name a few. We also have waterfalls around the corner, The Egg Performance center in Albany, a waterpark called Zoom Flume only 20 minutes away, and that's just a partial list!
Rustic 1830s farmhouse with original tin ceilings, wood floors, and hardware. AC units and space heaters available. Wood for the exterior fire-pit. Beautiful garden (assuming the season). Apple trees, black raspberry bushes, fresh air and the sound of the running stream in the yard. Roses, lilac, and apple blossoms scent the air when blooming. Wonderful, delicious well water.
The house is flanked by forest with an ephemeral stream and has 2 apple trees, a pear tree, a wild blackberry bush, a vegetable garden and patio with fire pit, BBQ, table chairs, a bench, and a swing + slide playset. There is a park with a large field, tennis court, and kid's playground just down the road (2 minute walk).
  • What a welcoming home. My family only stayed for one night, but this was such a comfortable place. It's also quite spacious for anyone who might have a larger group. The bedrooms hiding up in the attic are fantastic. We brought our two dogs with us and this was a great place from to run around as well--both in the yard and at the Hyuck preserve that's a 10 minute walk away. I hope we can come back in warmer weather to get to enjoy the area even more.

  • JR is an excellent host. His communication is very prompt. We had a brief problem with the heating system and it was resolved seamlessly and quickly. The house is very charming--it is an early 19th c home, and while it is not renovated, it has been kept up and is very spacious. The hosts provide many more necessities than are customary, including a well-stocked kitchen and toiletries. The linens are lovely. Our stay was cozy and welcoming. Thank you, JR.

This room is one of four available at Hickory Hill, a working family farm set in the rolling Catskills upstate New York, 40 minutes west of Albany. There are sweeping lawns, walking trails over 200 acres of woodland, a pond for lazy boating and a clay tennis court.
Our "Base Price" for this listing is for a room with two single beds in the guest wing, that has a private entrance. There are also separate listings for three other individual rooms, as well as for the entire guest wing, which can be rented as a whole. Additional rooms are sometimes available in the family wing. Pets welcome by special arrangement. Hosts fluent in German and French.
The farm is just outside the hamlet of Rensselaerville, founded in 1787, with two churches and a well stocked library and reading room (the center of village life) a fire house and a performance venue, Conkling Hall. Just five minutes drive time is the post office with a diner (The Hilltown Cafe), open from early breakfast through lunch and a farm-to-table shop and caterer (Kuhar Family Farm). There are art shows and openings at the Way Out Gallery, the R-ville Historical Society's Grist Mill and the Guggenheim Pavilion at the Carey Institute, which also the High Peaks Music Festival each summer and the Logan Non-Fiction Writers Retreat each winter. There is also a pleasant "road house" (The Shell Inn) on Rt. 85 just outside of town, and the highly regarded Palmer House Cafe, expected to re-open under new ownership in the near future.
  • Very private and peaceful surroundings, which made it easy to get a good night's sleep. And the layout of the home affords each guest privacy. The rooms are separated nicely; we couldn't even hear anything from the living room and kitchen. Everything was clean & tidy. The bedrooms are all good sized, roomy and have extra chairs. The bed was comfortable, and the sheets, blankets, and bedspread were (I believe) 100% cotton. VERY comfy! The private entrance in the guest wing was convenient. We didn't feel at all as if we were disrupting anyone. Simon & Dardis were communicative and helpful.

Mid-Century motif blends with incredible views, country quiet and relaxed luxury. Breathtaking fall colors arriving in just a couple of months!
I was told that this place has the most amazing view in the Capitol Region with gigantic deck, pool (in season), two person jacuzzi tub. Minutes from Albany. Pool season depends on the weather but is at least Memorial Day through Labor Day. THE POOL IS CURRENT CLOSED UNTIL MAY 15, 2020 (Planned) Coronavirus Notice: It is the responsibility of guests to take reasonable precautions to prevent contracting or spreading the coronavirus.
Quiet, exclusive seclusion. Guests are expected to keep it that way. My neighbors have asked that impacts be as limited as possible. They didn't move to the country to have a hotel set up shop across the street.
  • Aaron has a beautiful and unique place and was a great host and really flexible and accommodating when we had to make some last minute changes. He also got us breakfast, which was a really thoughtful touch. And he has the cutest little dogs. We had a nice and relaxing long weekend.

  • Looking for a peaceful, incredibly scenic, luxurious getaway...look no further! Aaron's property is an unusual tri-circular structure, nestled between beautiful greenery, water and mountains! The pool is well-maintained, the spacious, artsy and clean inside includes all the amenities one could wish for...and then some! The views from all around - including the bedroom - are truly spectacular and the property is less than a half an hour's drive of many scenic trails and also the attractions of Albany. After many years of vacationing, this is honestly the first time we'd consider a repeat!

  • We rented this fabulous home for some of our family for our wedding weekend. My elderly parents, 3 siblings, and a few nieces and nephews loved Christopher’s home. There was plenty of comfortable space for sleeping and enjoying time together. The location was beautifully wooded and private and a short distance from the wedding at Indian Ladder Farm (btw a must go to in the area). Would definitely return again in the future!! Thanks Christopher!! The Ginn, Tine, and Pockoski families

It is cozy (the pictures are very accurate) and well stocked with all the amenities one expects in the kitchen and bathroom. We were also happy to find plenty of supplies to make an outdoor fire. The cabin is located about 12 minutes from Main St, Middleburgh with plenty eateries, shops and a market. There are some nice hikes within about 30 minutes drive. • Mindy’s place was perfect for a couples trip to the mountains. Very close to the local diner and lots of cool nature things. Check out Vernon’s Nose if you’re into hiking. Bed was super comfy for a good nights rest. Would def stay again!

  • Mindy's home offered the perfect escape! Nestled in a remote area several miles from town, I enjoyed the sounds of the birds, crickets, and the sight of the stars at night. It was a pleasure to relax to sounds of nature and the sight of greenery out the window. I felt like I truly got away from it all! I was pleasantly surprised by the comfort of the bed and pillows and the soft texture of the sheets. At 6 months pregnant, it can be difficult for me to sleep well, but I was perfectly comfortable. Mindy was helpful, communicative, and accommodating. I found exactly the experience I was looking for and plan on returning the next time I need a little escape from the city.

Hickory Hill is a working family farm set in the rolling Catskills upstate New York, 40 minutes west of Albany. There are sweeping lawns, walking trails over 200 acres of woodland, a pond for lazy boating and a clay tennis court. Guests stay in the new wing with four rooms available, the family lives in the old wing. Kitchen and use of kitchen is shared space in between the two wings.
Our "Base Price" for this listing is for the entire guest wing, with a private entrance. The space accommodates up to 8 adults plus two children (in a second old-fashioned, short double bed). Individual rooms can also be rented singly, on separate airbnb listings. Additional rooms for up to six are sometimes available in the family wing. Pets welcome by special arrangement. Hosts fluent in German and French.
The farm is just outside the hamlet of Rensselaerville, founded in 1787, with two churches and a well stocked library and reading room (the center of village life) a fire house and a performance venue, Conkling Hall. There are art shows and openings at the Way Out Gallery, the Rensselaerville Historical Society's Grist Mill and the Guggenheim Pavilion at the Carey Institute, which also the High Peaks Music Festival each summer and the Logan Non-Fiction Writers Retreat each winter. There is also a pleasant "road house" (The Shell Inn) on Rt. 85 just outside of town.
  • Simon and Dardis have a lovely home on beautiful grounds. There were some lovely touches (fresh coffee and breads in the communal kitchen) and some great local history. We woke up each morning to the sound of horses in the paddock on beautiful fall days. The bedrooms were clean, huge and the beds were exceedingly comfortable! I got married locally the weekend we stayed there, and Dardis even lent me a beautiful wrap to combat a seasonably chilly night after I forgot mine. It's a great spot to spend a weekend in a beautiful upstate location.

    Jessica2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Simon and Dardis are the best hosts I’ve encountered on this platform. Thank you so much for making our reunion magical!

    Zoë2019-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • When we were scheduling our rooms, the hosts told us the rooms were rather big. This isn't an exaggeration--the rooms are incredibly large, and the seating areas are lovely. After a little bit of a communication issue, we stayed in the private wing. In three of our four rooms, we had views of the horses. To small children, this is better than almost anything! The beds were comfortable, and although we didn't need it, our hosts made sure we knew where spare towels and other accoutrements were. Speaking of children and hosts, I thought our hosts were exceptional with the children. Not only did they tolerate the children (that's all I ask!), but they were welcoming. They found little things for them to do, read them books, and overall treated the children like very welcomed guests. It is a peaceful farm. There are horses and bulls, and someone clearly has a green thumb. There are lots of spots to steal away for a little peace and quiet. The hosts are very friendly, and they made us feel like welcomed friends instead of clients. If we went back to the Catskills, we would certainly consider staying there again.

    Kate2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time at this beautiful house. The rooms were big an beautifully decorated, Simon and Dardis were wonderful hosts and made us all feel very comfortable. They even took time to let our children feed and ride on their horses.

  • Beautiful and fun farmhouse with tons of space and lots of outdoor spots to explore and enjoy. We had a great mini-vacation!

  • Simon and Dardis are great hosts. They made sure my guests and I had everything we needed for a enjoyable stay. The bedrooms are very well maintained and comfortable. It was nice to see the horses out and about. Great conversation with the hosts. The accommodations were very comfortable, I would recommend Hickory Hill to others who want to have a good time in the Catskills mountains.

  • My friends and I stayed at Hickory Hill for a wedding nearby. The home was so relaxing and comfortable. • This beautiful farm property perfectly matches the posted description. The "AirBnB" wing of the house includes four bedrooms, three of which were empty during my off-season stay. Everything was clean, comfortable and homey. It's not really a work destination, but I did have space (and electrical outlets, and decent WiFi) to spread out with my laptop for a few hours, as well. Simon and his wife were speedy with all responses and cheerfully accomodated a somewhat late arrival when I ran into travel issues. it was a short stay, but they were gracious and helpful hosts in every way.

  • The drive up to Hickory Hill is a scenic and peaceful one, and staying there for a weekend is the same. We enjoyed the clean and comfy room, as well as taking a hike around the property. Sunset and sunrise are gorgeous here. Simon was a delight to chat with regarding logistics and local recommendations for food and nature. Would recommend to anyone wanting to find respite from the city.

  • Hickory Hill Farm is like a little corner of heaven in this part of New York State. Dardis and Simon were welcoming and accommodating hosts, offering us their kitchen to cook in and a choice of places to eat al fresco on the beautiful grounds. I hadn't realized just how special Hickory Hill Farm would be--with a hammock, a gazebo, horses grazing in a paddock, a small table and lounge chair just outside our guest quarters. It was hard to leave the property; I would like to come back just to lounge there and write! Nearby is the Huyck Preserve, and we were able to hike there and swim in Lake Myosotis. Simon and Dardis also offered excellent suggestions for where to go and how best to enjoy the surrounding area. We hope to return.

Todd and his wife were the most gracious of hosts, and just to walk around and take in the furnishings and decor of their home would make a visit there worthwhile.

55 pristine acres, 3 porches, views from every room, large wood-burning pizza oven. A cook's paradise. 5 min from Carey Center and Huyck Preserve with its miles of trails and waterfall. Relaxation nooks everywhere. The town is the most adorable thing ever: no stoplight. Giant nature preserve - hiking, trail running, waterfalls, and swimming in a quiet no-motorboat lake. NOTE: we have NO INTERNET in the house and there is no AT&T cell service on our hill. (Verizon, Sprint, T-Mobile all work.)
Built in 1890, our house sleeps nine in four bedrooms, each with a spectacular view of the land. There are two bathrooms, both with tubs, one claw-foot. There is an open kitchen with a vintage six-burner stove, wrap-around window seat overlooking the garden, wood burning stove, and a large sitting area. You'll eat well: our kitchen is tricked out with great cookware and knives, and we have a wood-fired pizza oven in the back yard. The formal dining room seats eight to ten comfortably with a napping bench to the side for sleepy kids. Outside there are three porches attached to the house for lounging. Prefer a hammock? We have two big ones under a grove of Cottonwood trees. There is a large mown field with croquet, Adirondack chairs, and views of the rolling fields where cows graze and geese come in for dramatic landings. With two ponds, four barns, and 55 acres of pristine pasture, woods, and creeks, you can wander the mown paths for hours. There is abundant wildlife, but not a neighbor in sight. There is a large vegetable garden, contained by a ring of sunflowers; in the summer it is full of tomatoes and greens. One mile away is the cutest little town you've ever seen plus 2,000 acre nature preserve with endless hiking trails, the magical Rensselaerville Falls, and Lake Myositis where you can swim or kayak without the put-put of motorized boats.
  • We had an incredible weekend. If you're hoping to unplug, relax, explore, and have a passion for cooking — this is the place for you. Planning our return trip as we speak.

  • Sara Kate's house is absolutely beautiful. It's a rare old house that has been renovated gorgeously, with simple taste and consideration for comfort. The house is around a curve on a road with almost no traffic at all and all you can see around it are the hills and stream and farm buildings. There are cozy spots and a wide open kitchen and dining room for big meals. The bathrooms are spotless and lovely. The house has everything you could want, the best kitchen supplies, beautiful ceramics and rugs, soft linens, warm blankets, great novels and children's books, an airtight wood stove with plenty of clean, aged wood, and absolutely none of the personal clutter that would normally be in someones house. Sara Kate was the ideal combination of flexible and responsive. She had thought of everything and was immediately available to answer questions. She even left us fresh baked bread! Our trip far exceeded our expectations, and we are truly grateful.

  • Sara Kate's home was a lovely weekend escape for us. The kitchen is fully stocked with every tool, spice, ingredient, and cookbook available. The pizza oven became the focal point of our cooking adventures. Sara Kate provided us with information on local landmarks, restaurants, and fun family activities. Sara Kate was also very available via cell phone when we had a couple questions about the house. It was a lovely adventure!

  • This is one of the most exquisite homes I've ever stayed in. Everything is of the highest quality-the towels, the cooking utenstils, even the handmade ceramics. The house itself is beautiful-secluded and peaceful and with every creature comfort you can imagine. There are plenty of cozy nooks and crannies to read any of the numerous (color coded!) books that line the many bookshelves. I loved staying here and can't wait for my next trip.

  • The house is fantastic and extremely well decorated. The lounge and dining areas made our stay special and everyone had a great time. The kitchen has everything you could ever want and the layout of the house is perfect for families. The rooms are very large and there was plenty of space. We had a great time and cant wait to go back.
