My experience at the Beaton-Powell House was fantastic! Lisa was so accommodating, we truly felt like family. This was by far the best b&b experience I have ever had. We will be returning next year for a longer stay. A 5 star rating is not a high enough rating for the Beaton-Powell House experience.

Everything about my stay was lovely! Lisa left a note on the entrance door greeting me by name, I received a warm welcome, and found the beautiful spacious historical room had absolutely everything a traveler could possibly need (she thought of everything, from Q-tips to new toothbrushes, along with wine and snacks for the evening and breakfast. The bed was super comfortable and the linens were lovely. Absolutely beautiful historic home - a once-in-a-lifetime kind of sleepover! Fabulous!

I tried to arrive in daylight but traffic held me up. I felt at home as soon as I turned the key and found my way easily with Lisa's signage in her absence. Lisa had provided me with fine dinner ideas so I could eat before arriving late. Had a great meal at her suggestions. I eagerly anticipated the claw foot tub awaiting me, as described and pictured in the listing. A cold beer or glass of wine and soft drinks, plus snacks were in the suite for guests. The accommodations were very clean, imaginative. Along with very comfortable mattress. I enjoyed coffee on the porch outside. Breakfast yogurt was available. I had a great morning rendezvous with Lisa as she toured me through the house. It is as enchanting a set for a movie as you might find, and so is Lisa! Ellie, Willy and Paula all had supporting roles if you are lucky enough to catch them. Willy even offered to check my tire pressure before I got back on the Interstate!.

Wow! Couldn't have asked for anything better. Lisa is great. The home has all kinds of antiques and collectibles. Wish I'd had more time to look at everything. It's amazing how much of the restoration has been accomplished. Can't wait to see the next phase. And clean, ALL of the bedding is washed after every guest. The town is like going back 50 years in time. Great vibes!

Lisa's home was (URL HIDDEN) was beautifully decorated and she was a gracious and helpful host - even when the door locked defeated me! She was sweet enough to even share some yummy pumpkin bread for breakfast. The room had amenities to spare. My only regret was not taking a long bath in the beautiful old tub!

Lisa was a wonderful host! Although we arrived late she welcomed us, making us feel totally at home. The lovely room we slept in was incomparable--spacious, spotless, had a super-comfy bed, was well-appointed, lacked nothing. The room and house were out of another era--high, high ceilings, old floor coverings, antiques and colorful artifacts everywhere. Terrific! Thank you Lisa

At Lisa's place everything is amazing and going beyond of what we can expect from an airbnb night! Lisa is a great host and make us feel at home. The house is like in the picture : big, welcoming and incredibly beautiful. The room is huge, the bed is awesome, the private bathroom is fantastic... In a word, we really enjoyed our stay of one night in Boykins and highly recommend Lisa's place.

The home is truly unique and wonderfully decorated. The room is spacious and the bed comfortable and Lisa and her sister are wonderful hostesses. I was met with welcome signs and instructions for making the most of my stay. The room and adjoining bathroom were spotlessly clean, which is truly appreciated. I'm an Airbnb host myself so I recognize many of the fine touches applied to this historic home. The pets were friendly and lively. Thank you for being so gracious and accommodating.

Scott and Donald were wonderful hosts and made me feel welcome in their beautiful home. The house is convenient to get to from I-95, and the bed was very comfortable after a long drive. I felt like I was staying in a gorgeously renovated bed and breakfast because they also offered me a great breakfast spread. Truly sweet, wonderful people and a relaxing stay!

Scott and Ronald were outstanding hosts and were very hospitable. All accommodations were clean and comfortable. The highlight of my overnight stay was the homemade breakfast that Scott made before my departure the next morning. This Airbnb is worth the short drive from I-95 or if you're visiting the area.

Scott and Ron were amazing hosts who not only catered to our comfort, but were extremely accommodating to our dog, Gili. We shared an enjoyable stay trading stories, playing card games, and being treated to an amazing homemade pineapple, coconut pie. Scott's delicious blueberry muffins, fresh fruit tray, and free range scrambled eggs breakfast was a most satisfying end to a most pleasant stay.

Scott has a very old home filled with amazing antiques. It's about 15 miles off 95, in a quiet village. Scott suggested we have dinner before checking in since there isn't any restaurants close by. We had the upstairs of the home to ourselves since there weren't any other guest. Our room was very clean and the bed comfortable. There is no tv so if you want to unplug a while it is perfect. Breakfast in the dining room with Scott and Ronald was lovely, cloth napkins, coffee, juice , fruit, muffins and yogurt. They also welcomed my dog which made me comfortable. Communication prior to the stay was great. Thank you Scott and Ronald

The only thing that exudes more Southern charm than this well-appointed, lovingly restored historic home is the hospitality of its hosts.  Set in a quiet village right off of I-95, the house with its eclectic collection of antiques was a surprisingly delightful break from hours of highway driving. The rooms were large with comfortable beds. We thoroughly enjoyed hearing about the hosts' family ties to the house. Our hosts were very responsive to our requests and provided everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Scott was a very welcoming and kind host. We arrived late and he prepared some food for us after a long day of driving. A beautiful historical home that makes for a great overnight just off of I-95. Very quiet and comfortable as well!

My husband and I, visiting from Niagara Falls, stayed almost a week in this lovely house. It was clean, nicely decorated, and was well supplied with everything we needed. It was a great meeting place for nearby family to gather for meals, hanging out and monopoly games. The outside space was wonderful. Loved using the swing and table and chairs were perfect for morning coffee. If it had been alittle cooler, we certainly would have had a cookout and used the grill. The location was very convenient. In the future we will check the house's availability, before visiting family in the Ahoskie area. We have stayed at Jernigan House and Flanagan House and Hardison House in Edenton on previous visits. All were wonderful!! But at this house, we had a special place for everyone to gather and have a great visit. Thanks to Debbie for helping make this visit a pleasure.

This is a beautiful old home with a great front porch, really friendly hosts, comfortable room and bed. I had a great stay.

All rooms are on the second floor separate from the master suite which is downstairs. The room and house are beautifully decorated as shown in the pictures. This is a great old house that has been very well maintained and Scott was a great host.

We loved our stay "on the farm!" Everything was as promised. We were cool with the air-conditioning, enjoyed the coffee and treats, and slept like a baby! My kids loved the novelty of the RV! Great experience!

Cindy and her family are super nice! We loved the rv and how remote and quiet it was. Our 5 and 6 year old had an amazing time playing with bugs and mud and feeding the horses and doves! We would definitely stay there again.

Modern, comfortable and quiet trailer in a charming country setting. We were grateful to be able to come back to this place each night over the course of our visit. Supermarket, restaurants close by. A nice, private alternative to local hotels.

Cindy is very helpful, friendly and she was patient with my questions. The RV is really comfortable. The location is great, close to the charming town of Suffolk and Norfolk. Great for relaxing at the farm. Thanks for the cake!

We enjoyed the unique experience staying at RV in a farmland. Three of my children liked to meet horses and a cat.

It was great! We had everything we needed and loved spending time with the horses.

Cindy and her family are very good hostes. They are helpful and nice persons. The caravane was perfect for us! Everything you can need in. The farm is in a quite area but near the town. We had a beatiful time there!

This cottage is truly a gem! We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay here and wished we could have stayed longer. The décor is beautifully done, and the furniture & beds are very comfortable. The towels are plentiful and wonderfully thick. Denise has a great eye for design, and she keeps the guest house amazingly clean. This little cottage has quite an interesting history which was fun to learn about. We also enjoyed exploring the nearby Merchants Millpond State Park, a truly unique place! If you are looking for accommodations in this northeast quadrant of the state, you couldn't find a better place to stay!

This is a very cozy,clean, and comfortable home. I was impressed with the decor and furnishings. The one thing that generally never meets my expectations is the beds but they were great here. They came very close to surpassing my tempurpedic at home. The host had some awesome banana nut bread waiting on us when we arrived.

This is a beautifully restored spacious property in the tiny town of Gatesville. A walk in neighborhoods nearby is a walk back in history with many homes built in the 1890's. Both bedrooms are roomy, the bathroom large and well equipped, and the kitchen and supplies adequate for our stay. One thing not mentioned in other reviews was the property location on a busy state highway frequented by multi-axle industrial farming trucks and other loud vehicles. Two of three of us in our party were awakened by the loud traffic even though we usually can sleep through any noise. The noise was significant enough that I gave this property only 4 stars instead of 5. It will be 5 star worthy with white noise machines in bedrooms. We visited Merchants Millpond on our visit and highly recommend staying at Bennett Creek Guesthouse if that's your destination.

Cosy and very clean house, wonderful hospitality!

The cottage is so lovely and beautifully appointed with all the necessities. Beds are very comfy and the cottage has all the quaintness of an older home. Denise is always available to help you with anything you need. I love it so much that I've decided to stay the 3 months of my work contract!

This is a really nice place! Very nicely appointed, simple, and well provisioned. Highly recommended.
