VERY BASIC VERY REMOTE BEAUTIFUL BUT NOT LUXURIOUS bothy in an idyllic situation - exposed stonework and wood. Bring own bedding and cooking stove. Basic pots crockery cutlery etc provided. Shared outdoor toilet, indoor bath heated by solid fuel stove. Coal can be bought for £12 a bucket available if requested well in in advance from Rhoda's shop on Gometra's official website. Suits kayakers, experienced hillwalkers and island baggers. Please see reviews for more feedback.
This is a VERY BASIC NO LUXE bothy - do not expect modernised comfort. Gometra is off-grid - that means no mains electricity. You will need to bring bedding, food, cooking appliances and fuel (coal can be bought £12 a bucket in advance - contact details on Gometra's official website). We do not have a cleaner and ask people to leave as they expect to find it. This is reflected in the low price.
Gometra is the most beautiful island in the world but very remote.
  • A unique and wonderful place full of rustic charm and character.

  • A very special place on a very special island. Be prepared to be buffeted by the weather but the gorgeous scenery, heather and wild flowers, sheep, horses, deer and eagles make it all worth while! And the turquoise sea when the sun came out was stunning! The bothy is cosy and has all you need. The beds are very comfortable and the bath a real treat after a day’s exploring! Thank you Rhoda for your warm welcome and tips in walks. An experience not to be missed by those who love nature, walking and islands!

  • This is a fantastic place to stay if you are looking for somewhere away from it all. It took us under three hours to walk from Ulvaferry to JaneAnnes Bothy. It is not a hard walk as it is along a track and is well signposted. We were happily surprised that the Bothy is only a mile from the bridge onto Gometra. It shares s loo with the shop/gallery and has a stunning view. The shop had all sorts of goodies both edible and arty to buy, uht milk, biscuits, chocolate, a bit of fruit and vegetables etc. But I think it is good to take your own food generally as you can't guarantee what will be back in stock. The Bothy was clean and tidy and comfortable. The first night we did not light the fire early enough and so the water was not warm enough for a hot bath..it needs a good 3 hours to be piping hot. We were so glad we ordered coal and found that the bucket lasted three nights easily. We used head torches and not candles but you can buy candles in the shop if you need them. Our gas cooker was small but quick and adequate. We ate well but simply. Both days we were there the weather was fine in the morning and not so good in the afternoon. We walked extensively around the island climbing to the trig point behind Gometra house and also to our favourite Tor Mor opposite the bothy. We saw deer but sadly no otters or seals. The beds were comfy and we slept well. We loved being away from 4g and phone signal (but did find we had both at the tops of the islands hills), and living very simply. We met the other island inhabitants on our various walks. Both Andy and Roc gave us great advice about what to do etc. The walk out was fine and we had a lovely lunch at the Boat Cafe on Ulva before catching the ferry. We would highly recommend this as a lovely holiday destination especially if you want to feel you've been away for ages.

  • Magic of this remote dwelling is special!

    Kati2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • we loved it very much, it is very exceptional! we did not meet Roc unfortunately, but Rhoda is amazing! Thank you both for everything

    Notburga2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a place that I will be returning to again and again. It’s not for everyone but the pay off you get from a long and sometimes arduous walk from Ulva ferry is well worth it. The addition of duvets and sleeping bags really helped do next time I won’t have the bulk of carrying mine. This place is everything I need to get away from The rat race and ground myself. We are planning on kayaking next time. Looking forward to a time I can share the experience with my three boys. Cheers Roc and Andy !!

    Ben2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • A very special place , beautifull , amazing views , funny black face sheeps , horses , eagles and silence , a very cosy bothy , all together offer an unforgetable holliday

    Dinu2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • A place to reconnnect and disolve the gap between self and nature. This is a unique place to be treasured and savioured. It provides a retreat with everything you need and nothing you do not. Thoroughly recommended.

  • Comfy pod on a farm next to highland coos. If you are looking for an unique experience and don’t mind all sorts of weather, you’ll enjoy it big time. Apart, Andrew was a very friendly host. Will go back there, when I visit Iona again.

    Tanja2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, great space, and a great hub from which to explore Iona. The pod was warm, more roomy than I expected, and in a beautiful setting. Highly recommend

    Keith2019-10-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time at Andrew's. The pod conforms to what is described on the ad. The location is beautiful like the island of Iona elsewhere. We had a lot of wind and rain but the pod was very cozy to warm us up and have tea. Note that on the island, there is a small Spar to refuel but it closes at 16h30. If you want to dine just a possibility at this time of year: the Columba Hotel but you have to think about reserving your table. Thanks Andrew for this stay. We were seduced by this island and we think we come back!

    Brigitte2019-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy little pod ideal for 2 people. Views of sunrise and sunset over Iona were impeccable. Lovely quiet and secluded area with a 10 min walk to the town down a little farm track. Lovely bit of respite from modern society with a beautiful view. Till next time.

    Melanie2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • What an excellent find this was, exactly as described and a warm welcome from the hosts, certainly a bit different but all in a good way, many thanks.

    Stuart2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Super cosy and warm, Andrew was very accommodating to my needs. I had a great stay 😊

    Tania2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • The pod had a great view and is in a good location for seeing the north and south of the island. Andrew is a very kind host who has well stocked the pod with tea, coffee and hot chocolate for when you need to heat up after a nice walk! Perfect for escaping busy life and getting some island bliss.

    Ruby2019-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • The pod is cosy and warm, we were blessed with great weather and Iona is a beautiful island to explore. We loved collecting treasures from the beach- the pebbles on Iona are beautiful and some of the best beaches we have been blessed to put our toes on. Thanks for a great stay in the pod!

Our double room is modern and quiet, you will get a good night's sleep!
We have a quiet, friendly neighbourhood. There is one shop and one pub/restaurant a minute's walk away. There are plenty of lovely walks to take around here. We are a stone's throw from Fionnphort Bay and it's just 3 or 4 minutes to walk down to the ferry.
  • Zoe’s place is very close to the ferry and most importantly the local pub :). Place was very tidy and roomy, and her breakfast was superb!

    Chris2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Zoë runs a very homey B & B that can be easily reached both by car and by bus with some patience. The property is perfectly located for exploring Mull, Iona and Staffa. Valuable tips are available from the warm hostess. The successful package is rounded off by a delicious breakfast.

    Kevin2019-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • We sent our Swiss friends to stay with Zoe. She was excellent to deal with and efficient to respond, making booking easy.

  • Peace, harmony in the environment and decoration. Cleaning. And a nice and quiet hostess

    Anele2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • A comfortable, clean and homely place, just what we wanted.

    Jane2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely b&b in the small Town of Fionnphort. We chose to stay here for the strategic position since we planned a trip to Staffa e One to Iona both departing there. The b&b Is just few meters away from both the ferry terminal and the only pub in Town. Zoe and Andy helped us finding a table for dinner, not an Easy task. They were very welcoming hosts. Breakfast, in particular, was delicious.

    Marco2019-07-30T00:00:00Z
  • Zoe and Andy are very friendly and kind. We arrived too late to get anything to eat at the local pub, so they made us a small, but very welcome, dinner! If we’re in this area again we will definitly come back to this place :)

    Sanne2019-07-22T00:00:00Z

The Ferry Shop sells groceries, crafts and souvenirs, books and hardware. The Keel Row has a bar & the restaurant is open from 6pm - 9pm. It's often busy so arrive early if you can!
  • The perfect location for a stop while visiting the Inner Hebrides! Zoë was a great support when CalMac cancelled our Ferry and made sure we were welcomed with open arms the day after. A few tips: Head over to Iona later in the day if you want to stay clear of the bus loads (!) of tourists! Remember some notes when visiting the local pub - doesn’t take bank card for the water of life! Thanks for a great stay, Zoe! Clean, comfortable and great communication. We hope to be back.

  • Zoe's place in Fionnphort is ideal for visiting Iona or just relaxing in a remote and beautiful part of Mull. Our room was modern, clean and spacious with all amenities including en suite. Zoe provides a superb cooked breakfast which would be hard to beat anywhere. Highly recommended for a touring couple.

    Michael2019-08-13T00:00:00Z

  • We had a great stay at Zoé, in her lovely house near the port (ideal starting point for excursions to the islands). The room was spacious and very clean. Zoe was very caring with us and recommended walks in the area. She cooked us a delicious breakfast (suitable for our vegetarian diet). We highly recommend this place!

    Steeven2019-08-01T00:00:00Z

  • Everything was in line with the announcement, no complaints.

    Alexandre2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • The pod is so clean, cosy and well-equipped. There is underfloor heating, a fridge, stove and essentials such as tea and coffee! The shower rooms and toilets are just a few metres away and very clean. The surroundings are beautiful! It’s a very short walk from Fionnphort where you can get the ferry to Iona. Thank you!

    Chantalle2019-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a must! A beautiful place that felt so homey. Its simple and magical and has everything you need, especially if you can't get a place on Iona. Hot Chocolate and Tea were provided with some maple candies. The host was totally flexible with me when I messed up on my booking. The town people are so sweet and hospitable. When my friend and I were walking up hill to the pods a lady came and picked us up because it was storming outside even though we weren't even that far away. We only stayed one night but we couldn't ask for a better setting. Sheep were roaming around as we made our walk to the ferry and bus stop. I would bring some waterproof shoes if you are going during the rainy season because the grass around gets puddly and muddy.

    Felicia2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • The pods are easy to find, in a great location near the Iona ferry, and very cozy. The little kitchen area was well outfitted and the shower/dishes/bathroom area had lots of hot water and was very clean. We really enjoyed our time there.

    Margaret2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay for a few nights, close enough to the village and great hospitality

    Ashleigh2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • On such a beautiful island, a bed is all you really need for accommodation and that is exactly what the pods offer. In a peaceful location the pod was the perfect bed for the night and has facilities close by. Your private little space in nature- idyllic.

    Corrie2019-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent accommodation, location and great hosts. We loved the pod and it slept the four of us easily. Highly recommend a stay here. Great food in the town as well.

Our cosy larch grass roofed cabin on the Ross of Mull is the perfect place for a relaxing getaway. With views across Staffa & the Treshnish Isles, you can watch the sun rise over Ben More and set over Lunga from the comfort of the sofa. For the ultimate tech detox, we’ve ditched the mod cons like TV, wifi and phone signal and replaced them with good old fashioned boardgames, a great stack of books and selection of old and new vinyl for the record player.
Outside you can dine al fresco in all weathers on the veranda, while watching sea eagles, seals, dolphins and basking sharks in the bay. From the cabin, you are a short distance from lots of beautiful sandy beaches, walks and boat trips, including Staffa, Iona, Lunga and private charters with Alternative Boat Hire.
  • Beautiful, stylish and cozy cabin. Brilliant location with a breathtaking view. Everything you need is provided, including a great selection of records, board games and books. Wonderful hideaway, we will definitely return!

    Claire2020-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is an idyllic spot. The view from the sofa is unbeatable! It is very easy to get warm and settle in for the evening with Hannah’s record player and a good book. This is a simple cabin but stylishly down, and we will definitely go back next time we are on Mull.

    Louise2020-02-28T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful cosy cabin in a great location on a beautiful island. Nice hospitality and Hannah and Frank were very friendly. There is a record player, so if you have any vinyl - take some with you! :)

    Ryan2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Can’t recommend Hannah and Soreens cabin enough; fantastic hospitality, beautifully decorated and perfect location! I don’t think there’s anywhere else like it on Mull and whenever we return we will be sure to book this place again.

    Lynsey2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay in Fairwinds Cabin exceeded all expectations. It was truly magical! We had Storm Ciara and 70mph winds to contend with but nothing was going to stop us having a special weekend on the Isle of Mull. The welcome from Frank and support from Hannah and Sorren throughout the weekend ensured our time on Mull was worry free. The cabin itself totally suited our needs and who couldn’t fall in love with a log fire and a great record collection! We will definitely be back. Don’t hesitate... book your break away here. It is the business!

    Gerard2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is absolutely beautiful and had everything we needed for a relaxing and comfortable stay. The view is stunning and the spot is very secluded apart from a couple of caravans at the bottom which you cannot see from inside the property. Hannah was exceptionally helpful and answered any questions immediately. We would highly recommend a stay here and the Isle of Mull is a great place to explore

    Fiona2020-01-04T00:00:00Z

The Snug is a modern day take on the traditional barn conversion. With stunning views and a large open deck space The Snug combines a super cosy indoor space with great outdoor living. The open plan living room and kitchen has large glass sliders which open onto a generous covered deck area. There is seating and BBQ on the deck as well as stunning views over to The Burg. The deck also leads to the king size bedroom with ensuite.
The snug is super well insulated but if you need more heat then just fire up the Morso Owl stove. There are plenty of dry logs included in your rental. The snug is definitely a place to switch off and relax. There are great cooking facilities - we can direct you to loads of places to get fantastic local food including home grown veg, freshly baked bread, local seafood and local organic meat. We sell croft procured lamb and pork right on site. If you do want to stay connected then there is internet which we ask you to use on a fair use policy. Definitely plenty for a movie or two but we ask you not to let your devices go mad with updates. There is also free-view satellite TV. And the snug has a great sound system which you can hook into via bluetooth. A NOTE RE COVID 19 I want to assure people who are already booked and those thinking of booking that I will be taking extra precautions due to COVID 19. These range from maintaining distance from guests inc. not shaking hands to undertaking deep cleans between guest stays.
The Ross of Mull is absolutely stunning. This particular location is off the beaten track and enjoys spectacular views of both mountains and sea. You can walk to the village of Bunessan in about twenty minutes. There's a small Spar shop and a pub for drinks or simple pub grub. Fionnphort is about 15 minutes drive away. From there you can get the ferry to Iona or go on a boat trip to Staffa to see Fingal's Cave and the puffins. For the more adventurous have a look at Alternative Boat Hire - sail aboard the beautiful Birthe Marie. There are lots of wildlife tours available - a chance to see dolphins, whales, basking sharks, puffins, adders and eagles, as well as numerous other birds. Stunning beaches abound! Ardalanish and Uisken are two of the better know ones but there are lots of other ones which The Snug folder will tell you all about. And there is also fantastic walking in the area. Again, The Snug folder will tell you all about walks you can do right from the van or within a short drive. For eating out there are pubs in both Bunessan and Fionnphort. Or there is The Creel seafood bar at the top of the jetty - some of the best fish and chips you'll get. If you want something a bit posher then have a look at Ninth Wave Restaurant which is about ten minutes drive from the croft. Book ahead if you want to try it out. Getting around It is possible to get to the croft via public transport so long as you are willing to walk / cycle from Bunessan. (About a mile.) Bike hire is available at Iona Craft Shop.

  • Clean, comfortable, great hosts, and convenient location for exploring Iona and the Ross of Mull.

    Moritz2019-09-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay here and would highly recommend for anyone visiting Iona and the Ross of Mull. The cottage is super clean, comfortable and really well equipped - including large mugs and sharp knives! The location is quiet, with good views to the surrounding moorland and frequent sheep and highland cow visitors. Cathy was a helpful host when we needed to call a vet for our daft dog (who is fine) which was hugely appreciated. We'll definitely be back.

A home away from home! Carol and Peter have over a decade in the hospitality business on the Island, and this superbly situated, restored farm house is an ideal spot for a layover or a short break. Located just four miles from Fionnphort and the white beaches of the Isle of Iona.
Private double room away from the main house with king size bed. Shared large bathroom with other guests. Light breakfast request including: toast, cereal and fruit. • We had a lovely stay at Carol's B&B on Mull - the house was warm and welcoming, and Carol's hospitality was outstanding. Lots of wonderful tips for the surrounding area, a great location to head to Iona and such a comfy bed! thank you Carol, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend your lovely B&B

  • Such a wonderful stay! It’s a beautiful island and staying here epitomized the beauty of the place. Our room was excellent and extremely comfortable. The dining room is well stocked and lovely spot to enjoy a meal. Carol is so welcoming and kind, thanks again!

  • Carol is helpful and very responsive in case of problems. Carol is generous Breakfast is hearty.

    Myrtille2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Carol's place for only one night. She made sure that we felt at home from the moment we arrived. We had everything we needed during our stay (including an extensive DVD collection which was perfect for our relaxing night in). Carol was so kind and did our laundry for us. We had our own (very nice) private area in the house that was fully stocked with breakfast food, a fridge, a microwave, a coffee/tea station and a dining area where dishes and silverware were provided for us. The bedroom was comfortable and so cozy with a nice view... We saw deer outside in the field across the road from our bedroom window! We quite enjoyed our stay at Carol and Peter's place and would not hesitate to stay again!

  • I chose this place based on proximity to the ferry to Iona, and it served that purpose admirably. Quiet, clean, and generously provisioned. I would absolutely stay here again. It was great fun to meet fellow guests over breakfast, and the pub down the road has good food and great company.

    Kurt2019-09-18T00:00:00Z
  • Carol and her husband are lovely people. There was everything you needed for breakfast and much more! We felt like at home. In need of help, we were also happy to meet Melly. The location was ideal for a peaceful night and a trip to Iona. Thank you again for your warm welcome.

    Cindy2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • We were very kindly welcomed by Peter and Carol. They tried everything to make our stay as nice as possible. Although the furnishings are not the latest, they have a certain cosy charm. We felt very comfortable. Clear plus points are the large DVD collection that can be used and the great breakfast that leaves nothing to be desired.

Welcome to Achamore Croft, I have one lovely room with two single beds available, with a new private shower room & toilet. Breakfast is included and ingredients are laid and reared on the island. My home is a cozy cottage in a quiet location and handy for visits to Iona and Staffa. The local village of Bunessan is an easy walk away where you can go to eat or have a drink. The stunning beaches of Uisken and Ardalanish are nearby.
You'll be staying in my home and will meet my cat Bracken and new kitten Woody (who are not allowed in the bedroom) Your room has a kettle and a variety of hot drinks available, also a hair dryer and extra blankets. I have WIFI but no mobile signal. Right next door to your room is a newly installed walk in shower room which includes a toilet & sink, this will be just for guests to use. There is parking space for a car in the drive. Seating in the garden which surrounds my house. I also have 'living willow' fences, bower and archways in the garden which you can sit under on a sunny day. The location is remote, quiet and surrounded by green fields and woods. The local bus stops at the top of the road on it's way between Iona and Craignure ferry.
Beautiful countryside views, quiet location and just off the 'main' road which is handy for visitors using the public transport. Easy access to lots of beaches. Friendly locals. Easy walk to the village of Bunessan which has a shop, small Bistro & Pub which also serves food. Fionnphort is only 4 miles away where you can get the boat to the Isle of Iona and Staffa
  • Alex was very accommodating, personable and helpful. It’s a perfect place to stay if you want to visit Iona and also experience the beauty of Mull. Alex is also a wonderful cook-lovely breakfast in the morning. She also found gluten-free biscuits for me when she found I couldn’t eat regular biscuits.

    Lareina2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Alexandra was lovely. Great tips on commuting to local sites and eating. She makes a delicious breakfast too. When you drive in, park in front of the house door where she leaves a space. - I almost destroyed her lovely garden by not doing so and would hate for that to happen!

    Dillon2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Alexandra's house is lovely, quiet, well located, easy to find and extra clean! Alexandra is such a friendly host, both my friend and I felt warmly welcomed. A lot of cafés and restaurants are shut this time of year but Alexandra was able to direct us to a few places that served dinner, which was very helpful. Thank you for this lovely stay!

  • A very nice, warm, & cosy room and house ... but more than that a nice « meet » with Alexandra. She is definitely a super host that will take care of you from before your arrival to the end, will prepare a great breakfast and will give you adapted tips to enjoy your stay at Mull ! A beautiful experience !

She was super helpful with information about getting around the island. Also, breakfast was such a wonderful touch to the whole stay. I look forward to coming back again!

  • Excellent location for day trips to Iona and Staffa. A knowledgeable local host and a great breakfast complete with a fruit salad option. Our room was small (think typical NYC hotel room size) but comfortable and clean. Convenient parking right in front of the house.

  • We had an absolutely wonderful stay. There are so many thoughtful touches. We really appreciated all the choice of teas in the room and the hot chocolate sachets! Breakfast was incredible and there is a great selection for all dietary requirements. We got to try veggie haggis and loved it! John gave us a lot of local tips, suggestions and knew the ferry times to Iona for us. We would highly recommend. Thanks for everything.

Maolbhuidhe Bed and Breakfast offers traditional hospitality and accommodation with modern facilities. Free parking, Free superfast WifI.
Maolbhuidhe (pronounced 'mull-voo-ee') is a former croft house, standing in the centre of 24 acres of croft land on a side road about a mile from the village of Fionnphort (Iona Ferry). We have panoramic views in all directions including Iona, the Treshnish Isles and Ben More.
The Ross of Mull is famed for its wide and largely empty sandy beaches. Excellent for walking, bird-watching and generally relaxing. Fionnphort (on the tip) is the ferry port for Iona.
  • great place to stay. everything we needed. Linda was a very friendly hospitable host with information of the local area. We explored Iona and loved the area. the house is great with everything we needed.

    Rachael2019-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Linda and her husband were very kind and helpful. My mother and I enjoyed our visit. We felt as if we were staying with relatives rather than in a b&b. Thank you very much for the lovely hospitality.

    Cassidy2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Such a pleasure to experience an actual "bed and breakfast" again. Linda and Tim were wonderful hosts - attentive, helpful, and available at all times. Linda served us a delicious, hot breakfast in the morning from our selections, using local Mull foods. We also had fresh toast with jams, coffee, and OJ. So nice to talk with Linda during breakfast and get information about the area, talk travel and tips, and just get to know each other. Our beds were comfortable, with plenty of room to move around. We had a separate sitting room for reading, relaxing, or watching tv. The private bathroom was sparkling clean and we had oversize towels which I appreciated. Close enough to Fionnphort for a walk, although we took the 2 minute drive. We had sheep to welcome us on arrival (and departure) and there are wild birds all around. Quiet and restful. I use about 8-12 Airbnb accommodations a year, and hitting upon a traditional B&B was such a treat, and particularly with such amazing hosts. We highly recommend Airbnb guests stay at Linda and Tims, enjoy the country, and be pampered a little.

    Vincent2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Linda was extremely helpful from providing information about the Oban and Iona ferries and rearranging a tour for us. Her breakfast was hearty, hot and delicious, just what you need for day on the Scottish Islands. We stayed two nights (3 adults) so we enjoyed two mornings around the table chatting with Linda while she made breakfast. The space is very private with access to a large bedroom with tea/coffee available, a comfortable sitting room with television and a private 3-piece bath. Scenery was lovely; we enjoyed watching the birds, cows, sheep, ducks and chickens. A stag even ran through the yard one morning - how magical!

    Kim2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here with our daugther for two nights. We had a good time. Beds are splendid, breakfast was nice. We did a great hiking from Kintra to Fionnphort. And Linda is a very good and friendly host. We can recommend this accommodation to anyone. Peter

    Peter2019-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Maolbhuidhe is a lovely B&B in a beautiful location. The room was spacious and comfortable, we appreciated the private bathroom and sitting room (particularly on a rainy day). We did not have a car but the one mile walk to Fionnphort was very pleasant along a nice footpath. And also, the fact that Tim picked us up with our luggage at the bus and drove us to the bus when we left facilitated everything. Linda was very welcoming and gave us lots of advice for exploring the region. It was very pleasant to exchange with her at breakfast time. We loved our stay there.

Am Fuaran Isle of Iona Am Fuaran is situated in Iona Village, beside the Argyll Hotel. Long ago Islanders had Summer houses where people stayed during the holiday season to allow guests to stay in their main residence. Am Fuaran was such a building which has had various tenants over the last few decades. It makes an ideal Summer Bothy. It is a tin building with a concrete floor and although not luxurious it is cosy. It is the perfect private space for a single person or couple.
Am Fuaran has an open plan living/kitchen area. There is one bedroom, a utility room with washing facilities and a shower room. It is ideal as a base for a single person or a couple giving easy access to all amenities on Iona and close to the ferry. There is a small garden area and the house is sheltered and private. Access is through the back garden at Tigh-na-Traigh and there are steps leading up to the front door. It has no disabled access and is not suitable for pets. No smoking allowed.
The Island of Iona is famous for its Abbey and Staffa is a short boat ride away. Daily trips run from just below the house to go and see Fingal's Cave. The Island of Iona has an abundance of sandy white beaches to visit as well as many places to explore like the Hermit's Cell, Dun I, Port Ban, St Columba's Bay and The Well of Eternal Youth. As well as these attractions there are good eating places and also interesting craft and gift shops.
  • This is such an amazing and peaceful island. Carol’s place was beyond perfect for my stay.

  • A lovely cottage, a real home from home with an emerald green lawn in front where we sat out on our first day. A cosy space with all you need and with the warmest welcome you could ask for! A special place on the special island of Iona!

    Nina2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Am Fauran. The space was cozy, clean, and had everything we could've asked for – including a washer/dryer! Carol met us upon arrival and shared great local tips. She also checked in with us whenever she saw us out and about to make sure everything was going well. We couldn't have asked for better hosts and will be back for sure!

    Nathan2019-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • We had a warm welcome from Carol to this comfortable and cosy base from which to explore this lovely island. More spacious than the photos suggest so perfect for a couple and well located for the sites and facilities of Iona. Beautiful garden from which you can use produce and superb views. 100% recommended.

    Paul2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • Am Fuaran is a simple cabin, but everything a couple might need is there: bed, sitting area, kitchen, shower, fridge, even clothes washing facilities. It's a great location, very close to the ferry jetty but also in easy distance of the Abbey & shops. Carol was at all times most welcoming and friendly and helpful.

    Francis2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Carols place on Iona. It was a lovely place in a great location and had everything we needed for our stay. Carol was a wonderful host and was quick to answer any questions we had and give us tips for our stay. Despite the bad weather we still managed to see the island and had a wonderful holiday. We would definitely stay here again next time we vist the island.

    Bethany2019-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • A superb accommodation to enjoy the tranquility and the magical atmosphere of the island of Iona. Carol has paid a lot of attention to welcome us. Small apartment very well equipped and cute like everything. We were able to enjoy the vegetables from the garden: kale, pine nuts and arugula ... a delight!

This is a touring caravan like no other! During the summer of 2019 the van was completely stripped and re-built by Neil Harvey of Wild Campers Scotland. It sits in a croft field with stunning views of the ocean, of the magnificent Burg and of Ben More. The space is open plan with a king size bed and a wood burning stove. Designed to be comfortable for two, the space can accommodate four if necessary. It's a space made with old-school relaxation in mind — there's no internet and no TV.
The caravan is nestled in the corner of a croft field. You can park your car in the main yard from where you'll walk about three minutes to get to the caravan. Or, if you are coming by public transport either walk from Bunessan (about a mile) or let us know and we will come and get you. Children are welcome but please remember that the croft caravan has been designed to be comfortable for two. The space is open plan — there is a king size bed and a bed settee. If you plan to bring small children then you should be aware that the deck is not railed — there is a drop of around 3 feet. You'll need to be comfortable with sheep — you share the field with 20 Hebrideans. We sell croft procured lamb, pork and eggs right on site. The van is off-grid. Power comes from roof-mounted solar panels — there's a small fridge, plenty of lights and USB sockets from which you can charge things like phones and iPads. If you want to charge larger items (240v) you can do so at the workshop which is near where you park. There's a Salamader Hobbit stove to keep you cosy at night. You have your own private shower / toilet right next to the caravan. This is accessed via the deck. There's a small portable speaker, which you can connect to your phone or iPod. Remember — there is no internet or TV! If you have a BT or EE phone you will get a couple of bars of 4G. If you have O2 you'll get phone reception but no internet. For cooking there is a twin gas hob as well as an outside BBQ. There is no oven, grill or microwave.
Ardalanish and Uisken are two of the better know ones but there are lots of other ones which the caravan folder will tell you all about. And there is also fantastic walking in the area. Again, the caravan folder will tell you all about walks you can do right from the van or within a short drive.
  • We had a great time staying in the caravan, which had everything we needed and lots of thoughtful touches. The hobbit stove was super efficient and warmed up the cabin nice and cosy on cold evenings. We especially loved waking up to stunning views, stargazing in the evenings and the quiet of the area. Neil was possibly the nicest Airbnb host we’ve had — a really kind and generous person with lots of local tips. We traveled by bus, and had no problems, the bus stop in Bunessan is only a 20min walk to the caravan, and a beautiful walk by the sea at that. We’d love to come back one day.

    Erin2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • I spent two very pleasant weeks in Neil's caravan which is spacious and comfortable (the en-suite shower is nice!). The landscape is beautiful and the place is very quiet (the neighbors, ie the sheep, are very discreet!). Wood heating is very efficient. In short, that happiness. The fact of not having a car is not a problem: the village with its shops is close and the bus makes it easy to get away, especially to go to Iona. Thank you for the warm welcome.

    Philippe2019-11-01T00:00:00Z
  • A unique experience. Stunning views. The perfect place if you want to unwind and unplug from the technological world.

    Julia2019-10-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy retreat with great views, warmth from the wood burning stove and comfortable to lounge around and to sleep. Great cooking facilities and living space.

    Richard2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful host and beautiful place to stay in most lovely area. I loved it

    Michael2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • This space was absolutely fantastic. From the photos it might seem a bit plain, but the views and the overall setting are really spectacular. Neil is awesome and makes checking in easy, and it’s obvious he’s really proud of the space. The caravan has everything you need and the atmosphere is great. I would trek out to Mull again just to stay here.

    Chelsea2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Neil was a friendly and accommodating host. The caravan was very well appointed with lots of neat little touches and a great view. We loved sharing the field with a small flock of sheep and watching the sun set with them. Great location, perfect for visiting Staffa and Iona, and as a base to visit the rest of Mull, thoroughly recommended.

    Paul2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • Such a cool space with the most incredible views. The caravan has a few extra touches that make it that bit more comfortable like a log burner and a large shower room! Neil was there to Check us in and was so helpful with all of our bags and tips on where to go etc. We will definitely be back!

Cala Fearnadh is a brand new, unique, off-grid cottage in a quiet village, with stunning views of Staffa and the Treshnish Isles, and beyond. There is nothing quite like it anywhere on the island! Electric power is 12 volt, generated by a combination of solar and wind energy. Water comes from the tranquil Loch Assapol, which supplies much of the area.
There are 2 bedrooms: one with a king bed; the other a double, which can convert to 2 singles. There are 2 bathrooms, each with shower and toilet - one is en-suite with the king bedroom. There is a small, well-equipped kitchen, and a living area with a cosy wood stove. The wood stove heats the whole building, and in winter it is essential to keep it maintained. Please make sure someone in your party is competent and confident with wood stoves!
Bunessan is a quiet, peaceful village, with a small grocery shop, and a pub/hotel which hosts lively music nights. 10 minutes west lies the village of Fionnphort, where the ferry leaves for the spiritual island of Iona.
  • A great place to stay on the beautiful island of Mull

    Catherine2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views you can just stare at all day and so cosy being there in the evening with the fire on! Sadly no restaurants were open nearby to Cala fearnadh but I think that is due to it being March and not summertime. Overall a great stay!

    Alice2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • What a treat to stay at Dick and Zoe's! The views are amazing. During the day you look over the bay, and at night we enjoyed sitting by the fire and stargazing. The house is very cleverly put together, stylish, and comfortable. We were there in February, and the wood stove was more than adequate to keep us toasty as we listened to the rain and wind outside. Also great to have two bathrooms, complete with rain shower. One of my favorite Airbnb experiences ever!

    Michele2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first visit to Mull and after this experience it won't be our last. The property is immaculate, communication spot on, views stunning, accessibility not a problem, super clean and today, loving the log burner and watching the views over the bay.....we will definitely be back

    Alistair2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is amazing, beautiful location, every detail so well thought out. Highly recommended, I would book again.

    Gemma2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful place to sit by the fire and watch the islands weather crash, splash and shine over the landscape. Would highly reccomend to anyone trying to escape something. We loved our stay here. :)

    Ella2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • What a gorgeous and cosy stay! We had a wonderful time and the log burner was perfect in the evening. The views were beautiful and huge windows to watch the stars above at night. Great hot showers too! Thank you both so much.

    Ana2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This place is incredible. We were lucky enough to spend our Christmas here. The fire place is amazing and warms the whole house up. The house itself is stunning and even better than the photos. It’s in a relatively remote village so takes time to get around the island from there (not that that’s a bad thing. The drive was enjoyable). I found the master bed firmer than I am used to. The communication with the host was great and there’s an extensive manual to answer most questions. Overall this place is great and I would love to stay again if I’m ever back on Mull.

Sparkling clean and has everything you need, from a coffee maker to great broadband to a first aid kit. Comfy bed with lovely linen. • Very clean and comfortable. Pillows and bedding were so soft and comfortable - had an excellent nights sleep. Breakfast is beautiful and the dining room has a wonderful view across the bay to Iona, wish I’d stayed longer!

  • I highly recommend staying here! John and Jane was incredible hosts and every last detail was thought out, from the amazing breakfast to the hot water bottle and extra amenities in the room. I can’t wait to go back!

    Chelsea2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful location at the end of the road. The house is beautifully maintained and decorated. My room had a wonderful view of the little bay and over to Iona. John is warm and inviting and offered outstanding tips on visiting Iona. He also generously offered to let me park by his house when I visited Iona even though I was checking out. Otherwise, there is somewhat expensive public parking near the ferry. The cooked-to-order breakfast was simply superb, and the time to visit with other guests was very pleasant. The Seaside BnB is a reason to return to the far end of Mull.

Staying in a Yurt is pure relaxation! Mull Yurts is on a working croft on the stunning Isle of Mull. Amazing views, lovely walks, incredible sandy beaches to find and explore. Boat trips head off daily to the Puffin isles of Staffa and Lunga. One of Scotland's top tourist attractions - the Isle of Iona and its Abbey is a few miles away. The Yurt is cosy and wood burner warm. Lovely for a couples getaway or a family space surrounded by fields to play in and wild places to explore.
The yurt comfortably accommodates 4 guests with a double bed and two single chair beds. There is also space on the sofa for another wee one. There's a wardrobe to store clothes and belongings. The yurts are lit by candles and solar lanterns. We provide a torch or two to make sure you can find your way to your composting loo at night that is just next to your yurt. A two ring gas hob is provided for cooking on, a solar powered fridge is available to keep your food fresh, a hot gas shower in a wooden shed just next to your yurt and a cosy woodburner to keep you warm during the Scottish summer. It is still glamping of course so do remember to bring your wellies and warm clothes. We'll provide a bag of wood on arrival and more wood is available on site for £5 per bag.
  • Staying in the yurt was a fabulous experience. Lovely comfortable bed, cosy log fire, excellent cooking facilities, superb shower, friendly sheep, home-produced bacon and sausages to buy, eggs and tomatoes from the neighbours farm ‘shop’, and amazing stars and Milky Way on clear nights. We’ll be back!

    Rosanna2019-09-28T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fun experience. The space is well thought-out and has everything you need. We loved being surrounded by sheep and geese in the middle of nowhere. There’s a good fire and plenty of firewood was provided (which was needed at the time we were there). Definitely more glamping than camping, but a really nice place to be.

    Graham2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a wonderful place to stay on Mull. Idyllic location and the yurt is so well equipped. Helpful and lovely hosts, very easy to get to Iona or elsewhere on the island. We’d absolutely recommend!

    Katie2019-09-09T00:00:00Z
  • We’ve had a very pleasant stay in the Yurt on the beautiful island of Mull! Even though we are not very keen campers the yurt provided a very comfortable stay. Would return without any hesitation!

    Chiel2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place was truly lovely. It was totally private and isolated with amazing views. The yurt is exceptionally well set up. There wasn’t a single thing we needed that wasn’t in there and ready to be used. We had some torrential rain that lasted many hours and yet it remained cosy inside with no leaks. The log fire is was really romantic and even had dinner outside one of the evenings with the fire pit to keep us warm. John and Wendy were great hosts. I really can’t rate this place highly enough and can’t wait to go back.

    Sophie2019-08-18T00:00:00Z

The Bothy can be a relaxed romantic hideaway for two open 12 months of the yearwith a king size bed which can also be divided to provide twin beds for two friends . The inside of The Bothy which is a converted blackhouse gives a spacious open plan vaulted kitchen/diner living area and a separate bedroom with ensuite comprising of a large shower wc and wash hand basin. We are dog friendly and would welcome one well behaved dog. Saorphin is a 650-ace farm on the stunning gateway to Iona
We also have 2 other larger properties at Saorphin - Tigh Beag and Tigh Mhor. Erica and Chris who look after the properties live nearby and can help with questions, and Erica is a great cook !
The local village is Bunessan, a stunning small harbour where to can purchase fish direct from the boat, the famous shell fish, also seas bass, cod and haddock. Or for the more adventurous catch your own trout, salmon in our loch or go sea fishing on one of the many trips.
  • My stay was outstanding. Erica and Chris are brilliant hosts who really care about their guests. From first checking things ahead of going, through to superb accommodation and wonderful cooking, they ensured that my five nights with them were a delight. The Bothy, which they restored to very a high standard, is such a good space to be in, and the location is superb, with a beautiful walk down to the beach and great views out across the loch. I could not have wished for a better place to be. Thank you so much.

    Tom2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • Ericas hospitality cannot be beaten. Freshly cooked meals every night if you want them, free logs for our entire stay, very cosy log burner, loads of hot water, super comfy bed, all in a luxuriously converted blackhouse. When we return to Mull we will definitely look to book again

  • We had an amazing time at the bothy, Erica and Chris were extremely welcoming, the place was lovely and exactly what we were looking for. The seafood platter that Erica prepared for us was absolutely delicious and very generous. We saw deer in the garden, eagles from the window, all round we had a fantastic time.

    Tony2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing!! This place is so cosy and comfortable! We sat out a couple of windy days tucked up with a book, wine and brownies! Heaven!! This place has everything you need. The bed was so comfortable. Soft towels, really good wood burner that heats the whole place. Erica is a great host! Excellent cook. Brownies to die for! The plate of mull was perfect. She really doted on us during our short stay. We wanted to stay longer but the unpredictable weather meant we had to leave. We will be back!!

    Hannah & Toby2020-02-24T00:00:00Z
  • Superb hosts. Brilliant location for Loch and sea. The bothy was perfect for 2 people. Cosy with everything you would need and I’m sure if you didn’t have it, Erica would get it. She’s a mind of information and lovely as well. Don’t think about booking, just do it!

    Chris2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • The bothy is a beautiful location and Erica is the perfect host. She went above and beyond expectations to make sure we were comfortable and well fed (considering we came to the island out of season). The bothy was warm and inviting, and a big highlight was the food. Erica is a talented chef and gave us the best seafood platter we had ever seen. As a mull native, I can assure that this is a great place to stay on the island. We couldn’t have asked for more and we will be back!

    Ruby2020-01-29T00:00:00Z
  • Wow wow and wow. What more can I say. Erica and Chris are the perfect hosts. The bothy is lovely. Having turned up in the dark, waking to see the most amazing view from the lounge window had me outside with my cuppa at 8am in December. It was stunning. Take the walk down to the beach, there's no better place away from it all. Perfectly recharged and a wonderful birthday treat, above and beyond. So much gratitude and love x

Iona Cottage is one of the oldest dwellings on the island but has been lovingly renovated to create a beautiful space. It's centrally located, with breathtaking views over St. Ronan's Bay towards the Isle of Mull. With oil fired heating and an open coal fire, it is a cosy haven on a magical island. It is only minutes away from all local amenities, the ferry port, stunning beaches and the Iona Abbey. It is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the tranquility of the Isle of Iona.
Iona Cottage’s accommodation compromises of a choice of two double bedrooms, a small single room and two twin bedrooms. All of the bedrooms apart from one double room are situated upstairs. There are two family bathrooms in Iona Cottage, one upstairs and one downstairs. Each has a bath with an overhead shower. The sitting room is the ideal place to sit, relax and enjoy your holidays. Whether you want to enjoy the peacefulness of the house or sharing time with friends, it’s the perfect space. With breathtaking views over the Sound of Iona, the sun lounge is a beautiful place to sit and enjoy your dinner. As soon as you enter the Cottage you will feel the warmth radiating from the Esse Range in the kitchen. The kitchen is a great place to sit with a cuppa and watch the world go by. The kitchen was hand crafted and includes all the essential equipment that you will need for your stay. There is a large garden at the back of the house and although in the middle of the village it is a private space. If you prefer to observe the buzz of the island there are benches in the front garden.
There are a few establishments that serve food throughout the day and evening. There is also a local grocery store next door and gift shops situated in various locations throughout the island.
  • Very peaceful environment. Catrina and her mum are lovely. We will come again for sure.

  • We loved our stay in iona cottage, the prime location on the island and great place to see all the people arriving and leaving on the boats. The house is very comfortable and well equipped. We were self catering, and it was easy to buy food from the spar supermarket next door and prepare it at home.

    John2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • The Iona cottage was a delightful place to stay. We were met at the ferry by Carol, the owner's mum, who showed us around the place and gave us wonderful advice for exploring the island. My only regret is that we could not stay longer.

    Jeanne2019-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • This property is in a stunning location literally a stones throw from the beach. Iona is a magical island and has more to do than we could manage in a week. Fantastic sea food delivered to the door by local fisherman! The property is very well equipped and had everything we needed and more. The hosts couldn’t have been more welcoming and helpful and we had an amazing holiday.

  • Wow! Great stay!!! Fionnphort on the Isle of Mull is definitely off the beaten tourist track and it took a bit more effort to get there as we were going by public transport, but it was so worth it!! It’s a pretty, quiet little village and Iona (also incredibly beautiful and interesting) is just 10 minutes across from it by ferry. We had a lovely time and could definitely have stayed longer. Rachel is a warm and friendly host with lots of great local tips, her place is cozy, clean and well-equipped, and it’s just a 15-minute walk down the footpath to town. We highly recommend a stay in this lovely area!

    Lesley2019-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely place to stay! Everything is clean and Rachel is always happy to help or give tips on what to do on Mull and Iona! We enjoyed our stay a lot and would definitely come back!

    Maria2019-08-21T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. What a fantastic find! As a family of 4, we stayed in a bunk room for 3 nights and explored the local beaches and Iona, both of which were beautiful. Rachel was an extremely friendly and welcoming host and the facilities were absolutely outstanding - a great kitchen and a superbly cosy and child-friendly lounge area, well stocked with books and games (and no TV!). The kitchen, with separate fridges, was ideal, and the bathrooms spotless. The property has a really nice outside space from which to watch the sun rise and set. If (when?) we come back to Mull, this is the first place we will look to stay. A real gem.

The apartment is very clean and spacious, with extensive views over the West end of the island out to the Atlantic coast with everything you need for an inviting and comfortable, home away from home stay. This is an excellent location on the island with easy walking access and offering beautiful views out of every window. Jim kindly picked us up and took us back to the ferry to make arrival and departure seamless. We would definitely hope to return and thank the Hosts for a wonderful stay.

  • The apartment is like an Iona marble, you need to be lucky to find one. This apartment is one of the best self catering places we have visited. It is fantastically located, close to the golf and the beach while not too far from the boat landing. It is stylish and comfortable. A great place to stay on Iona.

  • Very comfortable, modern, spacious, clean and private apartment (whole upper floor) with a wonderful view and sheep, cows and birds as friendly neighbours. Just 5 minutes to walk to the sea shore with golf course and 15 minutes to the ferry and island centre. Extremely well equipped kitchen with all kinds of food offered by the hosts. Very friendly and helpful family that even offered private transport to and from the ferry. Whatever the weather conditions are- you will most certainly enjoy this quiet and beautiful place! Thank you Fiona and family

  • The apartment is great! It was not a problem to get an extra bed for our little one! We were picked up by the ferry and brought back. In between, we were picked up when it was necessary! Very friendly landlord! The apartment is sparkling clean and has great facilities. The view is great. In about 20 minutes walk you are in town or in 10 minutes on the beach.

  • Fiona and Jim’s house is in an amazing location. It’s a large and roomy place. Easy to cook; snuggly warm beds; lots of room to stretch out. The view from both sides - sunset and sunrise - is a worth a million. But what makes it worth a billion is Fiona and Jim. They are so kind and generous. Very responsive to any request. They even checked that we were okay on a rainy and blustery day, and made sure we got to and from the ferry on time. We were there for four nights which felt so brief. A very special place on a very special island.

  • Fiona was a gracious host. We loved the flat, in particular the view. Everything was extremely clean, lots of nice, thoughtful touches that went beyond the average AirBnB experience. Will stay again!

  • You can be wowed with a beautiful seaview from the living room window. It's a modern spacious flat with every amenity. The hosts are amazingly thoughtful and most welcoming. It was the little touches and extra attention that made it a 5 Star accommodation for us. The hosts are really friendly and incredibly helpful, providing you with info. on local shops, beaches and walks. Would be back in a breath! Loved it totally!

Newly renovated cottage, with miles of open countryside, with access to shoreline, to watch otters, and various sea birds. Ideal for getting away from it all, with 2 bedrooms (super king-size bed, and 1 single,) wood-burning stove for cosy nights in.
  • Woke up to sheep grazing the grass , cows and chickens meandering. We looked out at geese in the field from the kitchen window before they spooked and flew south. Another morning four deer stared back from the distance before heading to the trees at their leisure. We visited in autumn and found the cottage cosy with thick walls. It has wood burning stove which we enjoyed as well as background central heating. It has WiFi, though not at the speed you would get in more populated areas. We used it as a base to explore the whole island. Recommend for a rural holiday.

  • We had a great time! Newly refurbished cottage in the middle of it all: you’ll be surrounded by sheeps, cows and the beautiful nature of the isle. We were lucky enough to have great weather to be able to enjoy our time on the island which made it a great memory.

  • Beautifully secluded authentic cottage surrounded by sheep and cattle. Very handy for Iona ferry. Highly recommended

  • This is a well equipped and very comfortable cottage. It is quite remote and there are limited shopping facilities nearble (a small Spar shop at Bunessan and similar at Fionnphort) so would recommend bringing things with you. A beautiful spot , perfectly located for trips to Iona, Staffa and other small islands off the coast, and really peaceful. A perfect getway. The owner lives nearby and is friendly and helpful. Definitely recommend.

  • Great location on the Ross of Mull. We found a book of walks in a drawer and had a great time exploring the island. Handy for Bunessan and Fionnphort. Mull is stunning and the views from the from window are ever changing with the weather.

    Julie2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time in this cottage. Perfect for 3 people. Perfect to go on Iona and Staffa islands. Perfect to escape from stressful cities... Gillian the host is very friendly and of good advice. This part of the island is beautiful and wild. But consider you need 1h15 - 1h30 to drive to Tobermory.

  • Gillian's place was a wonderful place to stay on a trip to visit the Isle of Iona. It had everything we needed and was wonderfully rural and peaceful. The internet/wifi connection was admittedly slow, but we knew this going in and this was part of our "get away from it all and go to Iona" experience. In all, a great place to stay!

Bearnus Bothy has been lovingly renovated using our principle of ecological design to repair, repurpose and use what has been washed-up by the sea. It is one of the last old residences outside of the main dwellings around the Manse on Ulva. As such there are no neighbours until you reach the tiny community on Gometra, another three miles down the track. Seasonal magic: Bluebells, Primroses, nesting eagles, long summer days, heather-carpeted hills, rutting red deer, curious seals on the rocks.
Bearnus Bothy sits alone in a bay on the coast of the Isle of Ulva. It is reached by walking 5 miles along the rough track from Ulva Ferry, and it is another mile to reach the Isle of Gometra. The cottage is off-grid and offers the chance for living simply among a rich diversity of wildlife: White-tailed Eagles, Otters, Seals, and Red Deer are but a few examples of local residents. Please be aware that Bearnus Bothy is in a remote location, and the accommodation reflects the challenging nature of living on the island. Therefore, the provisions are basic and require a level of skill and experience of self-sufficiency.
The bothy is located next to the lively Bearnus Burn, running down from the summit of Ulva, with expansive views of Loch Tuath and beyond to the Treshnish Wilderness. The bothy is nestled above Bearnus Bay, only a few minutes’ walk down the wooded hillside. Gometra Gallery and honesty shop is a two mile walk along the track and supplies a range of food and local craft. It is perhaps the remotest shop and gallery you can find in the U.K.

Enter through the porch and into the cosy livingroom complete with leather sofa, tv with freesat and woodburning stove. The adjoining kitchen is fully equipped with washing machine, fridge freezer and microwave and to rear of the livingroom the french doors open out onto the enclosed garden. On the patio you can sit back and relax in the magical setting and absorb the countryside views. The bedroom has a double bed with white, crisp cotton bed linen and also boasts french doors opening out into the garden. The separate shower room is complete with WC and bath towels are provided for your comfort and convenience. The Wee House has very efficient insulation and in addition to the woodburning stove there are easily adjustable electric panel heaters in all rooms.
  • This is an exceptional property both for its location and the quality of accommodation itself. The Wee House is perfectly located for getting away from it all. A burn runs behind the house and you have beautiful Loch Ba and Ben More on your doorstep. As it is in the centre of Mull, everywhere on the island is within easy reach. Nearby Salen has restaurants and a good shop. The house itself furnished and equipped to a very high standard. Wi Fi and freesat TV work well.

The single room is one of 6 rooms in Achaban House. It is comfortable with its own ensuite and an east facing view. Achaban House is less than a mile from Fionnphort for beaches, trips to Staffa and Iona, eateries and shop. The area has outstanding scenery, with many glorious beaches and is great for walking, wildlife watching and other outdoor activities. We provide a breakfast of cereals, freshly-baked bread, fruit juices and tea/coffee.
  • More than gratefully not only for the fast response to my last minute booking, but for their hospitality as well. Lovely and cozy house, newly remodalated. Wonderful family ambient and hosting... Only 5 minutes by car to Fionnphort Bay, with a local pub with great local food, even with the catch of the day! Less than two hours away to Tobermory and 1h to Craignure ferry (it depends on traffic, because of the one way road where you can't go further than 50mph (80 km/h)... Next to the bay where boats to Iona and Staffa leave and where you can find a little white sand beach to do some sunbathing if the weather helps. Highly recommended for one traveler and families too!

  • Rachel's and Matthews BnB is very tastefully furnished and warmly led. You will find very tasty freshly baked bread and hosts who are interested in you having a great time on mull. I enjoyed every minute in this gem of a BnB. Highly, highly recommended. :)

  • Top location, top people, great tips. Here you are well accommodated. There is a huge kitchen if you like something to cook. Everything is optimal. 1000 thanks!

  • Overlooking a picturesque loch, Achaban House was a great place to stay; comfortable facilities, very friendly and helpful hosts in Matthew and Rachel, and a lovely tranquil and easy walk into the village and ferry terminal. A perfect base for visiting Iona.

  • Fabulous place, kind, generous and chatty hosts, felt like a home from home.

    Claire2019-05-17T00:00:00Z
  • Ample facilities, helpful and courteous hosts, clean and well run, homemade bread as good as it gets!

    David2018-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • I cannot recommend Matthew and Rachel's place highly enough. The room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and with a wonderful rural view. However, what really made my trip was the welcome I received and the relaxed, communal breakfast. Chatting with Matt and Rachel as well as with other guests was great, especially for a solo traveller. However, you can take your stay as you want. Breakfast was great, with freshly baked bread and a large selection of preserves and cereals. A freshly made pot of coffee was also made. I was also told to make myself at home with teas, coffees etc as and when I wanted. This was a great touch and made me feel I wasn't just staying in a b & b. The kitchen and comfortable lounge are open areas and I must say Achaean house has been beautifully renovated. The information provided by Matt on booking was second to none, including how to drive the long single carriageway road from Craignure. This was easy by the way after taking Matt's instructions. In terms of location, at first it may seem a way out of the villiage but you can leave the car in the driveway and easily walk. There is a wide grass verge which makes it perfectly safe to walk the 15mins to the village. I didn't manage to get into the Ninth Wave restaurant but the village's sole pub, the Keel Row, has a dining room and does tasty food. Try the Creel seafood shack as well. Anyway, Achaban House makes a great base to explore the Ross and Iona and is highly recommended.

    Stefan2018-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely, quiet place to relax. Just a short walk from the town and a short walk from some beautiful views. The breakfast was wonderful each morning, it was great to have access to the kitchen, the other guests were lovely, and the hosts were very kind and hospitable. Note: shopping is limited and the cash box in Fionnphort was testy. I recommend that guests bring extra cash and groceries purchased ahead of time.
