  • My husband, 4 year old son and I stayed at Chiara's for just under a week. The cottage is in a fantastic location with many beautiful beaches and walks nearby. The cottage itself is warm, well equipped and clean. I would definitely stay here again.

    Suzie2020-03-18T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay! Chiara leaves a booklet out including lovely little tips and tricks regarding the surroundings. Pennan is close enough to all the distilleries, if you're into it, has a stunning scenery on its own and you feel remote even though nothing's really far away. Pretty much all is as advertised. You can either watch the sea and waves for hours or do dozens of little tours along the coastline or inwards into the countryside. Rough weather didn't sour our trip and maybe someday we'll be there during the summer months which would probably knock our socks off

    David2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Cosy and quiet with no sound other than the crashing of the waves. Decoration is very warm and homely and the view from the front window out to sea is truly amazing especially when paired with a cup of tea on the couch or if you don’t mind the fresh air, a nice walk along the beach. We look forward to booking sometime in the future during the warmer months.

  • A beautiful cottage in a gorgeous town - perfect to get away from it all

    Jacques2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for a great few days. The location was truelly beautiful.

    Rebecca2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • This house is so lovely and in the most amazing location! Finding the house and checking in was so easy and Chiara was so quick at responding and was lovely when we got ourselves locked out woops! I would recommend this amazing place to anyone and hope to come back one day, so so nice to sit in the cosy living room and watch the amazing waves! Thanks for a lovely weekend!

    Megan2020-02-10T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a lovely stay in Chiara's cottage - it felt like a real privilege to be able to stay in an old fisherman's cottage right on the harbour. The cottage was lovely and warm all the time. The kitchen was really well stocked with all the pans/casserole dishes you could need for cooking for yourself, which was great as it looks like Pennan inn will no longer be a restaurant. We enjoyed visiting all the towns and villages around, and some of the little bays along the coast, and in particular would recommend the lighthouse museum in Fraserburgh and the antiques shop in the church in Cullen. We hope to be back to stay again sometime and have already recommended the place to family and friends!

This 18th century cottage sits atop this stunning coastal peninsular that once formed the thriving fishing community of Old Castle Slains. Nestled in the shadow of the 13th century castle ruin this is the seascape-lovers paradise.
The cottage adjoins our house but has its own private entrance and garden area. It comprises 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a small self-catering kitchenette (complete with a 2-ring cooker/mini oven, fridge, microwave, electric kettle, dishes, pans, cutlery, cooking utensils, etc.). There is also a washing-machine and dryer. There is a breakfast bar nook, but please note that there is no separate dining-room or lounge. The sea views on all sides are stunning! Puffins nest on Blind Man's Rock just off the peninsula and are clearly visible in the spring and summer. This is a bird/nature/sea-lovers paradise, and also a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
Old Castle Slains sits on a remote and stunning cliff top peninsula about 35 minutes north of the city of Aberdeen. Surrounded by sea on three sides, our house is built on the grounds of the 15th century ruined Castle, the ancestral seat of the Hay family, the Earls of Erroll. With its own beach, and Blind Man's Rock just behind the house to which puffins flock to nest and raise their young each year, this Site of Special Scientific Interest is breath taking. The surrounding area with its rugged cliffs and secluded bays offers days of hiking, exploring, wild swimming, birding and ocean kayaking.
  • Perfect spot for amazing photos of the Scottish coastline. It has a perfect little private beach that is accessible close to the cottage. The views are better than pictures could ever provide. Vishnu was so kind and welcoming and very easy to communicate with. We will be back!

    Chris2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Location is absolutely breathtaking! Vishnu and his wife are great hosts! Would definately recommend to everyone.

  • An amazing location after an exciting drive. A perfect vegan retreat.

    Karina &Amp; Ewan2019-12-28T00:00:00Z
  • I wish I could give more than five stars for the locations. Like it was amazing. A little scary to drive to in the pitch black night but amazing. The hosts were fantastic, provided us with history books on the area, and didn’t seem to mind that we arrive fairly late. The place is old and quirky. My sister and I got a fright the first time we flushed the old Victorian toilet and it was like a water. We were worried we were going to flood the house. We didn’t. It was fun. The one suggestion I have for fellow people staying here is that if you need a nice big pillow to sleep with bring your own. I had to fold mine to get to the proper height for my head. But that is just a comment. I can’t tell you how amazing the place is.

    Rachel2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • This place was truly amazing. Excellent hosts, amazing view and location. Perfect coastal Scotland experience.

    John2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning location full if wonder and awe! Basic amenities but more then sufficient. Drive down 250 metre cottage road was quite something but our small rental car took it like a champ....drive slow in low cars

  • The location was outstanding, on a cliff with a crazy view over the sea. Perfect place for a peaceful night

  • This place is 10/10 outstanding. It's a wonderful location, it's STUPID CUTE, the caravan has all sorts of weird and wonderful decorations and Katherine - we didn't meet Arthur - is lovely. Seriously, my bf and I want to live there!! We can't fault the place. Great brekkie options, great location and wonderful hosts. Stop reading this, just book it!!!! And FYI Peterhead prison museum and the Fraserburgh lighthouse museum are excellent and the Chinese - Umi - in Cruden Bay is great but doesn't do deliveries. We will definitely be looking to head back up to the Lily Pod at some point 😍

    Deon2020-03-19T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully presented, plenty of Information at hand from both Marie herself and the many leaflets available inside the property which allow a better understanding of the things to do around the area, would highly recommend!! Will be going back definitely, my partner and I had a great relaxed weekend especially with the huge hot tub it was a brilliant addition.

  • Lovely, clean, spacious accommodation together with a really on the ball host - would highly recommend a stay here.

  • Great place very clean

    Sean2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • Ruby house was a golden find! Our host has done a brilliant job of kitting out the house with everything you need for a stay. The couches were extremely comfortable as were the beds. It should be noted that the beds are actually both XL double beds which can be split into twin rooms as before arrival we had thought one couple would have to sleep in a twin room - This was obviously a bonus! The hot tub was very clean and we wanted for nothing. Our host Marie lives next door however we never saw her and we never felt our privacy was compromised. She was even so kind as to lend us an onion when we forgot one for our Spaghetti Bolognese. It is only a five minute walk to Newmachar where there are two pubs. The accommodation was very clean. We would definitely book again!

    Gemma2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is lovely, Marie added a number of nice touches including a number of welcome items (e.g. milk, orange juice, cereals, tea, eggs, bread, butter etc) that make an Airbnb stay great and meant we didn’t need to go straight to a shop on arrival. The hot tub is amazing, the bed is comfortable and spacious and the lounge chairs / sofa are very cosy. Overall we had a great stay and would recommend this Airbnb to anyone. Marie also provided a number of recommends on things to do / places to visit that was helpful.

    Mathew2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful home and sparkling clean. We got a wee bit lost on the way there and Marie was a quick to respond and help. Every kitchen amenity you could think of was there too. Excellent hot tub too 🙌🏻

Located in the beautiful quiet seaside village of Pennan near Fraserburgh Aberdeenshire. Which has had a little fame with being the location of 1983 movie Local Hero. Positioned close to great views, the beach, harbor, a nice restaurant/pub and close to many golf courses. You’ll love our place because of the light, the comfy bed, the fireplace, the cosiness and the stunning location.. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, business travelers, families, and your furry friends.
    - Fully equipped kitchen - Television - DVD/Blu ray player - Free WiFi - log burner in lounge - Bathroom with walk in shower - Master bedroom with double bed - Attic room with double bed - Oil filled radiators in bedrooms and bathroom - Far infra-red heating in lounge
Pennan is a quaint 18th century fishing village with a small harbour and spectacular coastline, famous as the setting of the 1983 film "Local Hero” where the infamous red telephone box is a draw for many a tourist. Pennan is approximately 40 miles north of Aberdeen. The fantastic location makes this an ideal base to explore the Banffshire coast. There is a hotel in the village with shops, amenities and sporting facilities at nearby towns such as Fraserburgh, Macduff and Banff.
  • Lovely little town on the coast! Cottage is nice and the stove made it cosy!

    Murray2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • Pennan is a special place

    Elizabeth2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • This is a great place to stay. Pennan is beautiful and lots to see in the area. Could easily have spent a week exploring. Take matches, kindling and firelighters for the stove, as well as logs.

  • Great little cottage with everything you need. We had a nice relaxing stay and the log burner kept us very cosy. Hosts are fantastic and easy to deal with, more than happy to provide tips and recommendations on places to visit. Pennan is beautiful and I would highly recommend a stay at Spindrift Cottage.

    Debs2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • We have stayed at Spindrift several times now while visiting family. It never fails our expectations. The cottage is lovely, and the stove makes it so cosy and homely. Andrea and Robert are always very thoughtful and this time we were visiting to meet my new nephew and they left a lovely gift for my sister. Would have no doubt about recommending Spindrift and staying again. My family and I love "the beach house".

    Kirsty2020-01-05T00:00:00Z

    Wendy2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Great accommodation and perfect for our short stay

    Perry2019-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • This is out 3rd stay at Spindrift and our 'go to' location for visiting family. We stayed for a week this time and had an amazing stay. Pennan is magical and the kids and dogs love it. Spindrift is super clean with all the amenities you would expect as well as some extra lovely touches. Andrea left some crafty things for the kids and a box of chocolates for the big kids. A lovely extra surprise for the start of our holiday that the kids were delighted with and a lovely extra touch. Beds are clean and comfortable and shower room and kitchen well equipped. We were able to make 2 pots of soup and 2 batches of scones during our trip. The fire in the living space is wonderful and amazing to watch on a cold evening. We will definitely be back again.

  • We had the most lovely time at the Neuk. It's a romantic hideaway with what feels like your own private beach & hearing the waves as you go to sleep is instantly relaxing. Hidden away in lovely farmland there's even a chance to see the Northern lights or at least the stars on a clear night night. Lynn & Bill are the perfect hosts and were extremely accommodating & friendly throughout our stay. My partner is disabled & they have though of everything, which made the stay even more relaxing - the walk in shower is lush and the bed is super comfy! We've already planned our return! Thank you both! Clare & Robbie

  • We met Ann's husband who was really sympathic and welcoming. We found easily with the instructions. This is like a pretty little appartement with everything needed inside, bed, tv, desk, everything to eat, sink, a fridge. The toilet and the shower just a few meters away. There s place to park and a very beautiful garden! We hardly recommand.

  • Loved staying with Ann. Lots of thoughtful touches. Appreciated local restaurant recommendations, we enjoyed dinner at BrewDog in Ellon.

This room is quiet upstairs room with a very comfortable bed. It's ensuite and has a seaview window looking onto the harbour.
The house is in Fraserburgh town centre. It's very close to the beautiful beach, the leisure centre, running track and shops. Ideal for anyone working temporarily in the area, solo or couples travelling. I'm happy to answer questions and will usually be able to accommodate at short notice.
The beach here is amazing, there's bowling nearby in the leisure centre and a pool with a gym, sauna and steamroom. As well as the house being in the town so the shops are pretty close.
  • Amazing sunrises, friendly people, and very friendly dogs.

    James2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed here for 5 weeks for work in Fraserburgh. Lovely big room, ensuite and one of the comfiest beds I've ever slept in! Couldn't be in a better location in Fraserburgh either. Thank you Aled for having me to stay, I couldn't fault it :)

    Rebecca2020-02-14T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely space. We felt right at home and were free to come and go as we please. It was very relaxed and we loved having the company of Lily and Bluebell. Aled was happy to chat and answer questions and it was great having a chance to meet him and learn more about the area and about himself. Thank you very much!

  • If you search a wonderful place near the center and the beach and a nice apartment, you‘ll should book here. (Ps: And the Dogs are very lovely)

  • A pleasant room in a good location with a friendly and helpful host.

    Paul2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • The house of Aled is located just in the town center, very well communicated. The house is a typical town pintoresque house, wide, confortable, with a fantastic terrace, superb rooms with a private bathroom. If you are looking for a true scottish fish town experience, far from classical touristic spot, this is your choice. Don't miss the visit to the Lighthouse Museum and a walk to the sandy beach.

Puffin Cottage is a cosy former fisherman's cottage full of original features and character, with open fire, original wood panel walls and ceiling beams. The cottage it is nestled rests at the foot of grass-covered cliffs with the sea just yards away in the village of Pennan, made famous by the film Local Hero.
The cottage is bursting with character, and is particularly homely with numerous paintings, historical artifacts, overflowing book shelves and various games and DVDs The accommodation comprises an open plan living, dining and kitchen area with open fire on the ground floor. The kitchen is small but functional with everything you should need (no dishwasher) For the fire we have left fuel to get you started. If needed additional Logs and coal are available to buy from local petrol stations in Fraserburgh, Banff or Macduff. There is also a shower room and toilet on the ground floor. Upstairs, the main double bedroom has an electric stove, wood panel walls and TV, and is made complete with a chandelier! There is also a single bedroom. There are further stairs up to a loft space, however we currently use this space for storage. There is wifi and the TV has netflix. In the shed outside there is a washing machine and tumble dryer, there is also a second outside toilet. There is a table and chairs outside in the alley and a further table and chairs on the sea front in the summer (although we store this in the winter to stop it getting washed away!) There is plenty parking on the street
The village is situated half way between Fraserburgh and Banff, both have good supermarkets, and Tesco delivers! The closest small shop is New Aberdour (3 miles). There is an Inn in the village which serves great evening meals (hours vary seasonally) and in the summer there is the coastal cuppie tea shed for coffee, cake, sausage rolls etc. The cottage is only a few feet from the sea, where we often see a variety of seabirds, seals and dolphins with occasional sightings of minke whale. There are lovely walks all around with a path from the village over the cliffs to New Aberdour. Other key attractions include: Troop Head RSPB reserve (the only UK mainland nesting gannet colony (incredible in the summer months) Cullykhan Bay - lovely for swimming Millshore - can walk from Pennan at low tide over the rocks - pottery, coffee and ice cream Crovie and Gardenstown - fishing villages with a lovely sea walk between the two Fraserburgh Beach - sandy and good surfing Banff Beach and Sandend Beach offering surf and SUP lessons Macduff - marine aquarium Portsoy - lovely harbour and famous ice cream shop Findlater Castle and Sunnyside beach Cullen - full of quirky shops and lovely beach Bow fiddle rock - meant to be a great spot for wild swimming (when the weather is good!)

  • Beautiful little village and very cozy cottage. If you are looking for rest, this is the place for you. Very cute decor and good facilities. Only the kitchen and the dishes could have been a little better equipped and cleaner. Otherwise great.

  • Amazing location and cosy cottage - thanks!

    Anna2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our 3 night stay in Gayle's lovely fisherman's cottage in Pennan. The house is compact but cosy (with the log fire), extremely comfortable and beautifully decorated and furnished. The space was perfect for a couple but, because of the additional single bedroom, would work just as well for a family of three or two single adults. The kitchen is amazingly well equipped (one of the best we have stayed in) and with plenty of salt, pepper, herbs, tea-bags etc to use or borrow and replenish. The pub hadn't yet opened for the summer when we stayed (opens end April I think) but we were very happy to put the fire on, cook and read. Despite Storm Dennis, the sun shone every day in this corner of Scotland and so we got lots of walks in and even ate our sandwiches on the beach. I particularly recommend walking to the caves at New Aberdour, and also taking the Stagecoach bus from Portsoy to Portknockie (about 15 mins, every 2 hours) and walking back along the beautiful coast path via Cullen and Sandend (about 9 miles). The booking arrangements and check-in were all straightforward and Gayle has left loads of useful information in the house. I would definitely recommend staying in this house.

    Wendy2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • To spend some short vacation in Pennan, this cottage is the best choice. For me, it was great place to concentrate my work. Peaceful, quiet, beautiful atmosphere. Especially, fireplace was fantastic. Thanks to it, I was able to feel warm in the cottage. All equipted for staying as well. I will definitely come back someday. Thanks!

    Fanny2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Gayle's cottage for a quiet peaceful Christmas and that's exactly what we had! It is a very characterful place and felt very homely. The setting is incredible right by the waves and we would definitely recommend it to others in need of a break from busy life!

Once a simple old stone cottage dating back to the 1700s, Crossgates has been lovingly refurbished to become a charming characterful holiday home. Inside the small yet perfectly formed cottage is a welcoming sitting room with a wood burning stove that leads through to two lovely bedrooms. There is a well equipped kitchen where tasty meals can be prepared with ease. Completing the property is a toilet/shower room, a porch with seating and a large mature garden which wraps around the house.
This delightful detached cottage is totally private and ideal for couples, friends or a small family who want to explore this beautiful part of the North East of Scotland. Ideally situated for walkers, cyclists, anglers or those in search of a rural getaway, Crossgates sits quietly, without being overlooked in beautiful Aberdeenshire countryside, 40 miles North of Aberdeen.
The scenery provided by the breathtaking coastline and rolling landscape attracts many visitors. Walkers, artists, photographers and outdoor enthusiasts are all drawn to this wonderful unspoilt area. Although some guests never want to leave the cottage, you will find much of interest in North Aberdeenshire. We are always on hand to give local tips on where to go and how to discover special places. We have endless beach and cliff walks with opportunities to see a range of wildlife, with New Aberdour beach being the closest at just 2 miles away and Cullykhan beach being of special interest as home of the remarkable ‘Hells Lum’ Heading inland slightly you will find many castles, all within easy driving distance from the cottage. Fyvie and Delgatie are our favourites, but a visit to Slains is a must too, especially if you are intrigued by the theory that Bram Stoker conceived the idea for his infamous creation Dracula here. This ruin, perched on the cliff tops, with only the sound of crashing waves on the rocks below and the cry of seagulls, can easily become eery and is not for the faint hearted. The Moray Firth is home to a population of around 130 dolphins, one of only two pods in the UK. If you are lucky, you may spot them. Also for your pleasure on our stretch of the Moray Firth is fishing, scuba diving, boat trips and watersports. Macduff Marine Aquarium, Troup Head Gannet Collony, the RSPB Nature Reserve at Loch of Strathbeg and WCDS diving centre in spey bay are also available to show you the diverse activity in these amazing waters. On dry land but still keeping close to the seafront, you will marvel at The Bullers of Buchan, and Fraserburgh Lighthouse Museum. Famous ports like Buckie, Fraserburgh and Peterhead, and smaller villages like Crovie or Pennan where ‘Local Hero’ was filmed give this region its character. The Banffshire Coast has been voted one of the top Coastline destinations in the World. With stunning cliff top paths and sprawling sandy beaches stretching from Cullen in the west to Pennan in the East, it’s just waiting to be explored. Our closest access point to this coastline is just 2 miles away at the charming, non commercial pebble beach at New Aberdour. Step back and take things at a slower pace, take time to appreciate the world around you, maybe even see the local fishermen landing their catch. The Banffshire Coast is also home to festivals if you care to plan your trip to our cottage for some celebrations; Speyside Festival, Coast Festival, Portsoy Boat Festival and Fishing Festival. We are within close proximity to some of Scotlands best distilleries and you may want to follow the whisky trail. Stray just a little further afield, Speyside Cooperage gives a fascinating insight into how barrels/casks are made. This cooperage (the only working one in the UK) takes you on a journey through the lifecycle of the cask and even allows you to see the skilled coopers at work. Learning about the ancient art of coopering is effortless given the interactive nature of the visit. Only a short drive away, there are 9 golf courses varying from links, heath and parkland. Aberdeenshire has an amazing selection of courses (70 no less). Whatever your handicap there will be one to suit you. Peterhead Prison Museum, Aden Country Park, Duff House, Baxters Highland Village and Story Book Glen are popular visitor attractions while Aberdeen, Europe’s oil capital, is an ancient city with a rich cultural heritage with much to see.
  • My husband, myself and our four year old granddaughter had a fabulous five day stay at Crossgates over the festive period. The cottage was well equipped, cosy and extremely homely. The peaceful location was perfect, situated in the countryside but close to Aberdeen and numerous fishing villages. Carole was a great host, her quick communication was excellent, prior to and during our stay, she impressingly provided us with bags of additional logs, for the wood burning stove, within 10 minutes of receiving our text. We would highly recommend this host and her beautiful cottage.

  • Fabulous cottage. At a very reasonable price. Very clean and cosy. The log burner was great to sit in front of at night. Powerful shower, comfy bed tv was easy to operate and the owner was very quick to respond to my correspondence. What more could we ask for. Will definitely go back.

  • We absolutely loved our stay. Cottage was immaculate. The wee dog box with blankets, towels and treats for our furry friends was very sweet. Our toddler loved the garden and playing outside. Nearby beaches and wildlife spots were just beautiful. A fantastic wee break for us all.

The cabin is located at the bottom of our unique garden. Our property is special as we have created lots of eco friendly areas where we have reused many elements inculding the cabin itself. There is a private shower room and toilet less than 100m away as well as a small sun room to the side with cooking facilities. We have 2 Collies, 3 cats and 3 hens. Well behaved pets are welcomed.
A room in the garden is a small bright cabin with country charm and a separate cooking area, as well as a shower room / toilet a short walk through the garden.
  • A very unusual and interesting place to stay. The cabin is beautifully decorated in apple green with a very comfy bed. The garden is very imaginative using recycled materials to make ornaments which we found fascinating. The fresh eggs from the resident hens were lovely. Rachel’s family were very friendly and welcoming. Highly recommend

The property is conveniently located to the city centre, train station, retail park, pubs and restaurants. The property is within a four flat tenement block where residents can make use of a communal garden. The street is very quiet and is at the opposite end of the Main Street.
The property boasts a large modern integrated kitchen with plenty room for up to 4 guests to comfortably move around. Both bedrooms have double door wardrobes with extra bedding and towels. The lounge has a wall mounted TV with NowTv so guests can login to their netflix, sky or Amazon prime (etc) accounts and pick up from where they last left off. The bathroom is all fully aqua panelled for ease of hygiene, complimentary soaps provided to covert the first few days of guests stay. Superfast Wifi is complementary.
The street is one of Inverurie’s oldest streets, situated next to the historic former Inverurie Loco Works where the locomotives of a number of Steam Engines were made including the Gordon Highlander which our local Wetherspoons is named after. The train station is only a 10 minute walk away to access both North and South Journeys to Inverness or Aberdeen and afar.

'High Tide' is a traditional fisherman's cottage overlooking the golden sands of Cruden Bay within the conservation area of Port Erroll. Recently refurbished to a high standard the cottage with its bright interior serves as an ideal base for exploring the many delights of the Banff & Buchan area.
Cruden Bay and its immediate environs has much to offer whether simply as an escape from the stresses and strains of city life or for a more structured holiday focusing on your favourite hobby or pastime. Whether it's kitesurfing, sea kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, angling, walking, bird watching, or golfing, High Tide Cottage is the ideal base for all these activities. Directly across the road from the cottage follow the path down through the newly laid garden to a seated viewpoint situated upon the sand dunes themselves and take in the wonderful panoramic views over the golden sands that stretch for over two miles before you. A paradise for bird watchers and dog walkers alike, artists and writers may also find the inspiration they seek amidst the beauty and energy Cruden Bay offers. Whatever the traveller is looking for - Cruden Bay delivers !
Take a short walk from High Tide Cottage - 10 to 15 minutes - and you will find the ruin of Slains Castle perching ominously upon the craggy coastal cliffs. The author Bram Stoker stayed there on occasion during the late 1890s, the "octagonal room" within Slains Castle featuring in his most famous novel 'Dracula'. During his regular visits to Cruden Bay the celebrated author also stayed at the Kilmarnock Arms Hotel where many a traveller has found a warm welcome. To this day the hotel offers excellent fayre and great service. Cruden Bay Golf Course - currently Ranked 71st in the World - lies directly across the Waters of Cruden with the 4th hole visible from High Tide Cottage garden. Described as both a unique and an unforgettable experience the course itself was originally designed in 1899 by Tom Morris of St. Andrews and Archie Simpson and then subsequently re-designed by Tom Simpson and Herbert Fowler during the 1920's. Alternative golf courses abound within the immediate area with Royal Aberdeen 25 miles away - ranked 57th - and a short ten minute drive will take you to Trump International Golf Links - ranked 60th globally. Birdwatchers are also exceptionally well catered for with Forvie National Nature Reserve 7 miles to the south and Loch of Strathbeg Nature Reserve 17 miles north. Closer still - 2 miles along the coast - you will find "The Bullers of Buchan", an almost circular chasm - "the pot" - over 100 feet deep, formed when a sea cave collapsed. Through this natural archway the ocean ebbs and flows to the sound of Kittiwake, Razorbills, Guillemots and Puffins. Wild orchid, campion and heather add colour to the already spectacular scenery. N.B. These cliffs are wild and sometimes dangerous places, great care should be taken when visiting them. Children MUST be closely supervised and dogs should be kept on leads at all times ! As well as Slains Castle the Aberdeenshire area is well served by many other historic castles - Tolquhon Castle, 18 miles away - Fyvie Castle, 28 miles - Castle Fraser, 34 miles - Drum Castle, 38 miles - Crathes Castle, 43 miles - Huntly Castle, 44 miles - Dunottar Castle, 46 miles - Craigievar Castle, 52 miles - Huntly Castle, 44 miles - Balmoral Castle, 74 miles - Braemar Castle 81 miles.

The house has everything you need , is cosy and beautifully furnished. Mandy and Gary are wonderful hosts, always willing to have a chat and provide you with local information, whilst respecting your privacy. The enclosed garden just across the road is a great place to sit and watch the activity on the beach, whilst providing a safe space for the dog to run around. We will definitely be back.

  • Within sight and sound of the shoreline, a haven. Refurbished to a high standard of quality and taste it is mile from the humble residence it once was but respect is given the origins with old photos of cotters and cottages. It shows how far we have come in a short time and makes me wonder how we would fare in their times and conditions and what they would make of their living space now

    Jj2020-01-20T00:00:00Z

  • Our visit to Aberdeenshire and the Moray areas of Scotland have left us with fond memories thanks to Lynn and Bill's hospitality and knowledge of the area. The many walks along the varied coastline, through farmer's fields, and into the "tor" were largely facilitated because of our hosts' knowledge of the area. The technology (speakers and Netflix!) was great and the bed surprisingly comfy. Don’t look past this one - just book it. You won’t be disappointed, a truly unique experience.

  • Megan and Dave are really lovely people! The let was very clean, tidy, and had everything we needed for a short stay. The area is very quiet (don't be put off by it being a working farm) and has dark skies. Megan and Dave were very hospitable and were full of fabulous information to help with our trip. Highly recommended.

  • Lovely place for a group stay! 9 of us across the lodge and chalet for 2 nights while we were up for a wedding. Very pleasant while we were there (admittedly, not a lot over the 2 days!), very pleasant place to relax and recharge! By far the best value and best quality of anything we found while searching and would definitely recommend and revisit!

Award of Excellence - "Cottage Accommodation of the Year 2017 ", Living in the Shires Magazine. My place is located directly on the seashore with spectacular views and is walking distance to the village convenience store. It has a large, secure, shorefront garden, great for families with kids, solo adventurers and business travelers. It can sleep 4 people but ideally suited for couples. Quiet and peaceful.
Pew with a view is 5 meters from the seashore and has fabulous views of the sea through floor to ceiling windows. This location is renowned for Aurora borealis and meteor showers and is peaceful and quiet. The cottage is a small fishermans cottage and ideally suited for 2 people , but it can sleep 4 in 1 double bed and 1 sofa bed. If traveling with lots of luggage you can store cases in the boathouse below.
Pitullie is a small hamlet dating back to the 1400's, 2 miles from Fraserburgh. It's a quiet and beautiful location to relax, yet still within a easy commute to Fraserburgh town center. There are several local artists who live in the village and private craft workshops can be organized on request. There is a small convenience store with a post office about 5 minutes walk from the cottage in sandhaven. Great for last minute groceries or bottle of wine if you don't wish to travel into town.
  • This is an exceptional place to stay in - stylish, comfortable and spotlessly clean, with fantastic sea views in a great location. I couldn't recommend it highly enough!

    Martin2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect. The location, the home, the outdoor deck. We had beautiful weather and decided to spend all day on the deck. It had very nice furniture and did the house. And this is a plus since many do not. I only wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for sharing your lovely home with us!❤

    Marcy2019-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • There are few words to describe this lovely location. You will find yourself mesmerized and intoxicated by the view. The accommodations are perfect for a family of 4. The pull out couch was a bit small for us 2 adults while on the bed frame. We simply moved the mattress to the floor and it was perfect. Talk about a view while falling asleep. Thank you!

    Stetson2018-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had the best time at Pew with a view. The cottage is just perfect and there isn't one thing we would change. I loved that everything we would want to lay our hands on was there - even down to doggy poo bags and emergency dog food if we needed it, I could write a list but it would go on and on and on. We had our very own 'movie night' in the garden (we brought our projector and sheet :) ) watching a movie with the sound of the waves, life couldn't get much better but then whoa we only got to see a shooting star - I made a wish (I'm not telling what it was!) We got the most beautiful sunrises, I was up every morning waiting for it, no way was I going to miss this opportunity. It was lovely to meet Isobel, such a beautiful lady, with no end of local knowledge/stories. We bought books to read but we didn't pick them up because just sitting looking out at the ever-changing sea was the best story we could ask for - the huge window is fab. We had a cheeky sneak peek at your door to shore accommodation, every bit of space is utilised to the max and is fitted out amazingly.

  • It is a very nice place to stay

    Taranveer2018-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing, and I mean amazing. My neighbor stayed here and when he and his wife found out my wife and I were touring Scotland he told us we had to spend at least one day and night here. We would have liked to spend another day there but schedule wouldn’t allow it. It is a phenomenal place in a nice little town.

    Jeffrey2018-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • The views from a pew with a view are stunning! We loved our short stay here and couldn't have got any closer to the see. Our stay was so relaxing, it's a lovely cottage with lots of nice touches, I especially enjoyed looking out to see using the telescope! We were very lucky with the weather and stayed there during the British 'heatwave'! So pleased a pew with a view was dog friendly as we like to take our pups everywhere and they enjoyed exploring the garden and it's ornaments and I was extremely grateful it had a secure fence and gate so didn't need to worry about the dogs escaping. A good base to explore the local areas and the beach at fraserburgh is gorgeous. Highly recommended, wish we could have stayed longer!

We are a happy, easy going couple who arrived at Andrewsford ten years ago when it was undoubtedly a large traditional farmhouse which are renowned for being cold, draughty and expensive to run. Not any more! We have stripped the property internally to re-plumb, re-wire, insulate and upgrade the heating system to Underfloor Heating in most rooms downstairs. The result is a warm, cosy and characterful home. Since the kids have flown the nest it is a very large house for two people to rattle around in so we welcome you with open arms. The house retains a lot of its original character, with open fireplaces in the lounge and entertainment room and we enjoy amazing sunrise and sunsets. The house is surrounded by wild Rabbits, Pheasant, Partridge, Ducks, Deer and Wild Geese in autumn to winter. A joy to watch from a distance. There is a wee dinghy also available on the pond with oars for the more adventurous to get into the nature side. We keep Chickens and Pigs for pets. The Chickens provide us with free-range eggs and the pigs, namely "Salt & Pepper" are the best ground clearance machines known to mankind. NONE of the pets are edible!! Bedrooms - The bedrooms vary from large to sufficient and are all equipped with a comfortable double bed and pillows, new carpets, bedside tables and lamps. Wardrobe and Chest of drawer complete the room. The largest room has views of the main garden where the other three have views of the morning sunrise. We have a TV licence so if you wish to log onto Netflix or TV by Wi-Fi while cuddled up in bed, feel free! Note - Double bed rooms can be re-arranged for single beds if required by prior request. Bathroom - (John and Alison have a separate bathroom facility so to cut down the traffic the 1st floor bathroom is solely for the use of our guests) The Bathroom is equipped with heating radiator, Fan Heater for the cold blooded, sink, loo and cast iron bath with hi-flow power shower above. Downstairs conceals another lavatory under the stairs to save running up and down the stairs in cases of emergency! Car parking - This is no problem with more than sufficient spaces near the front door. Laundry & Drying - All Linen and towels are provided and you can use the Washing Machine and Tumble Drier for stays more than 5 days. Note - we do not request a "Cleaning Charge" for bedsheet change each Friday and replacement towels every 3rd day unless requested otherwise. If you should require more than this please advise prior to booking as there would be an additional charge. Wet clothes can be placed in the laundry overnight to dry out and wet boots can be left in the warm back porch to dry overnight BBQ's - Should you wish to have a BBQ in the evening or at weekends we can provide you with the BBQ or Smoker units and simply request that you provide the charcoal, tidy up and clean out the units on completion. Early Check-in can be accommodated by prior arrangement but otherwise must be after 3pm. • Lovely clean flat, just make sure to let the host know that you are going to use the sofa bed so that a second quilt is there for you. Also be aware that the living room and kitchen are open plan. I had not realized until I got there, it is only an issue if you are a light sleeper and are on the sofa bed as the fridge can be annoying.

The cottage is situated in a small ancient quiet Fishing Village, 50 yards from the harbour and is only a few minutes from Fraserburgh, Aberdeenshire,. Recently refurbished and extended to a high standard, it's an old fishermans cottage, which has been totally renovated, with modern interior. The Royal Burgh of Rosehearty is situated 4 miles west of Fraserburgh, with a population of approx 1250.
We bought No 5 Mid Street, Rosehearty, on 20th January 2006. It had been empty for 12 years prior to that. Kenny then carried out a full renovation of the property, including removing all the inside of the house except the midway timbers and the stairs. The roof was all re tiled and walls reinsulated & sheeted, windows and doors replaced. The extension was built on to the back for the kitchen and bathroom. Central Heating was installed. It was completed 11th September 2009. We now have a fantastic old, Aberdeen Granite house dating back to 1839 with a first class modern interior situated 60 yards from the harbour. The rooms are spacious and has a lovely enclosed gardens to the rear. The Royal Burgh of Rosehearty is situated 4 miles west of Fraserburgh, with a population of approx 1250. It has one shop (50 yards away), two pubs, Butchers/Post Office and a 9 hole Golf Club, Pitsligo Castle built in 1424. Rosehearty is one of the oldest sea ports in Scotland dating back to the 14th Century. During the nineteenth century herring boom, there were 12 curing houses and its fishing fleet supported 600 people. • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Creel cottage. It was spotlessly clean, very homely & had absolutely everything we needed. It was so well appointed & very spacious. A lovely area to explore & nice hotel for eating out just a short walk away. Perfect for a relaxing break. Would highly recommend.

    Lucy2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Kenny is an excellent host. The Creel was clean and neat with good amenities. I would stay here again.

  • We stayed as a family with 4 adults and 2 children, great accommodation, had everything you needed and nice location right near the water.

    Rebecca2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • House was great for the family. Really easy to check in, great communication, cosy and welcoming. Lovely, well thought out interior and kids were able to play safely in the garden while we kept an eye from the kitchen. Plenty of space upstairs and down. The kitchen was great for sitting round the table and the house was lovely and warm after a cold walk on the beach. The only downside was the noise from upstairs when the kids were playing. However, the family enjoyed a wonderful break in this fantastic rental and I would definitely recommend to friends.

  • Kenny's place was an outstanding experience. The house was beautiful and clean. The location was perfect for a quiet get away. Check-in and communication were easy and quick. We would suggest this house to anyone looking for a comfortable and peaceful stay on the North Sea!

The double ensuite is in the fisherman's cottage which sits atop this stunning coastal peninsula. Built on the grounds of the ruined castle, and surrounded by sea on 3 sides, the cottage boasts a secluded beach and a nesting puffin colony.
The double room is in the old fisherman's cottage which adjoins our house but it has its own private entrance and garden area for your use. There is small, self-catering kitchenette for your use (complete with a 2-ring cooker/mini oven, fridge, microwave, electric kettle, dishes, pans, cutlery, cooking utensils, etc.). Ensuite bathroom with separate toilet room. There is also a washing-machine and dryer. There is a breakfast bar nook, but please note that there is no separate dining-room or lounge, though by booking the entire cottage, the family room can be a small lounge with sofa, futon chair, bunkbed and desk. The sea views on all sides are stunning! Puffins nest on Blind Man's Rock just off the peninsula and are clearly visible in the spring and summer. This is a bird/nature/sea-lovers paradise, and also a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The surrounding area with its rugged cliffs and secluded bays offers days of hiking, exploring, wild swimming, birding and ocean kayaking.
  • We had a wonderful time in this beautiful cottage! It's one of the most beautiful places we've ever been and we'd love to come back! The view is just amazing and it's the perfect place to relax some days and enjoy the spectacular nature around.

    Lea2019-11-14T00:00:00Z
  • If you like the nature and you like to travel on a very special, peaceful and beautiful place, you‘ll should book this. The host are wonderful and very helpful. (I became a nice taxi service very cheep from Ellon to the house and on the next day from the house to Aberdeen) Thank You!

    Sina2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • One of the best places in my entire life! Amazing view and very friendly and helpful host! It's a little adventure walking around the cliffs.

    Simon2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Location, location, location is the key word here. Wish we had been able to stay long and walk around and seen more of the rugged coastline. The WiFi wasn't working but but that wasn't an issue. One of the highlights of our trip.

    Megan2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • A magical place, cut off from the world with a magnificent view, the road is a little rough to go but at the end of the road it's paradise: on the other hand not to hesitate to enter the airlock of their house and knock at the door of the living room to find the hosts ...;)

    Veronique2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • I enjoyed a fantastic night at the cottage - what a location! Per the listing, it takes a little trust driving down some country roads to get to, but it's well worth it, a true spot of paradise. I stayed a night in the cottage, and enjoyed an amazing evening cliffside stroll and morning beach view. The room & amenities are as described. This is a true gem!

    Ayumi2019-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • This place is so unique. We were overwhelmed by the site. Try it you will not regretted.

    Richard2019-06-24T00:00:00Z
  • Vishnu was a great host, whereby he was fast to respond and kindly assisted us with various queries. The location is literally at the old slain castle, which makes for an interesting location. Do note that it's an unpaved road in to the house, so cars with low bottoms may have a more bumpy ride in.

  • Absolutely lovely! When we first looked at the bothy on Airbnb we saw a lot of great reviews however, we didn't want to get our hopes up. But when we arrived we were honestly so surprised at how clean and stylish the bothy was. It was extremely cosy, facilities were plentiful and the location was stunning. We travelled via bus from Aberdeen and were once again surprised at how easy it was to get to the bothy. Would 100% recommend.

  • Fantastic. Would go again and have recommended to friends. Just a little bit different to the norm.

  • This cozy bothy is located in a beautiful location. It’s only a few minutes walk to seal beach where we saw hundreds of seals around sunset. Gail added great little touches to make our stay that much better, would highly recommend staying here!

  • Perfect getaway. Thanks Gail.

    Hollie2020-03-08T00:00:00Z

  • We had a lovely time spent in this cute little home, it had everything we needed and more to make our stay comfortable.

    Katherine2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • If you're looking for a great value place in a nice location, look no further! Myself and my 2 children were looking for a base to explore the local area. Rosehearty is a nice quiet little village with a Sparthat sells everything. For a "big shop" there is Tesco, Asda and Aldi etc in Fraserburgh, 10 minutes away. The house is small and cozy with a comfortable lounge. The kitchen has 4 electric hotplates, a small oven and a microwave as well as a washing machine and dryer. The hot water is incredibly hot! Upstairs is a bedroom with a double bed and sofa bed. The bathroom has a bath and electric shower. Stairs are a bit steep so not too many "wee drams" before bed! The TV downstairs has good reception. All in all a great little place which we would happily return to. Keys were handed over by Kay, who lives next door. She met us and showed us what was what. Very pleasant lady.

The Hobbit is in the quaint village of Cairnbulg, which is just 4 miles from the busy fishing town of Fraserburgh. The twin villages of Inverallochy and Cairnbulg together form a wonderfully atmospheric location with narrow streets and alleys, which remind you of times past when the area was home to fishermen and every cottage had its own boat pulled up outside. Today the locals still make use of the washing lines on the shore to dry their laundry in the sea breeze.
This unique cottage is just a stones throw from the North Sea, it is fully renovated to a high standard, although keeping its traditional charm. On the ground floor there is one double and one single bedroom along with kitchen, living and bathroom. Up the traditional stair you will find the attic room which is very cosy with another double bed, comfy couch and TV. There is a small enclosed garden with seating area and bike shed, with a selection of bikes provided free of charge. Free parking for two cars right outside the gate.
Just a stones throw from the coastline of the North Sea, you can walk right along the Beautiful Beach to Fraserburgh. Things to see locally are: Fraserburgh Heritage Centre and Lighthouse Museum, Strathbeg Nature Reserve. Peterhead Prison Museum, Aden Country Park and Heritage Centre. Macduff Sea Aquarium
