Places to stay in Hampton
We offer a two-story in-law apartment with a private entrance that is attached to our 1850 Poultney Village home. We are located a block away from Main Street with shops, books, and eateries. We are in the lakes region of Vermont, close to both Lake St. Catherine and Lake Bomoseen. Killington is 35 miles away. We are also located a mile from the NY border and the entrance to Lake George and the Adirondacks.
Our apartment is suitable for up to two adults. The bedroom and bath are upstairs. Linens and bedding for our queen-sized bed will be supplied. The bath contains a porcelain bathtub shower. Downstairs has a kitchen and a sitting room that has a small futon and a couple of chairs. The kitchen area contains a small refrigerator with freezer, a sink, and an apartment-sized stove. You can find our cast-away cookery there, as well as dishes and utensils. Our guests are letting us know that our Internet connection is spotty. Our house is old and our walls are thick. We also do not have a television in the apartment. We have placed our iPod and its base station on the bookshelves. It is loaded with its 1,947 songs, so if you so choose, we hope that you find a few selections for your listening pleasure!
Poultney Village is small-town Vermont. We boast seasonal events like an outdoor farmers market in Poultney on Thursday mornings and in Rutland on Saturdays, a walkable town (and we live in the middle of it!) with a community library, a used bookstore, a diner, a tavern with music many nights, a rail trail, and Slate Valley Trail System and literally miles of trails and dirt roads, all accessible from our neighborhood.
  • Thoughtful, clean and cozy! Couldn’t have asked for more. Anne and Brad put so much thought into every detail and created a cozy small space to make you feel at home

  • Anne and Brad have such a coast place with very neat style. You can tell how much thought goes into their guests stays from all the tiny touches that create an amazing experience. They have also put together a thorough guide on local eats, trails, and activities if you find yourself with spare time! Anne and Brad definitely deserve the term "super hosts."

We invite you to come stay at the Lake House and experience all of the beauty that Vermont has to offer here at Lake St. Catherine. Located on the west side of the lake off a quiet private drive, you can escape the noise and traffic from the busy tourist season. With almost 100ft of lake frontage, there are few spots with a better view. Watch the sun rise each morning from either of the private decks. Explore the lake by canoe or kayak; both available for our guests to use at any time.
From inside the home you can see the lake from every room. There's lots of natural light from the large windows and two sliding glass doors. The 55" TV has netflix, prime and many other apps through the fire stick. We also have an Echo Dot if you ask Alexa to play something. There's a large bookshelf with lots of interesting titles and some fun board games. Outside, there are two private decks. The lower deck has steps down to the dock where you can take out the kayaks or canoe. No diving from the dock! The water is shallow.
Otto's at Cone's Point has some incredible soft serve ice cream. Ask for Maple Creamy and you won't be disappointed. We get one every time we're at the lake!
  • The best location and hospitality!

    Jennifer2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew’s place is amazing! A really nice getaway location to take a break from everything and get into nature. Everything you need inside a house is there: cookware, towels, hd tv with Alexa, fire pellets for camp fires and the indoor fire stove, and just other small things that make a cabin super cozy. For one of the nights, you have turn light off, go outside to the deck and just look up at the stars. Tip: you need a car to get around + be attentive when you’re arriving the first time or else you might pass the house without realizing. Andrew was quick to respond and super friendly in general. Loved this trip.

    Alina2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • Quality family time-- Andrew's house was warm and cozy. Located on a quaint lake, it was very peaceful. My husband and I brought our 4 kids (14,16,28,30). They all loved it!

    Holly2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Andrew was a great host! The location of the house and the views were incredible. Andrew was very responsive and made us feel very comfortable - even after we were snowed in during a storm! Would recommend and stay here again.

    Kristen2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • This was a lovely place to stay for the weekend! Very cozy. Beautiful views waking up in the morning! Andrew was so helpful.

    Diana2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • This house is breathtaking in every way! The view left everyone so speechless and in awe. Man, you can never go wrong with this place! The mountain fresh air aided our late night sleep in those very comfy big beds. The kitchen was immaculate and included everything we needed to cook home for three days in a row! My girlfriend and my friends were amazed and tbh I took some credits for it :). Last quite not least, Andrew was always in touch with us! He even brought fresh coffee in the very morning which we found very impressive. And of course the cherry on the top was the morning snow the day we had to leave! So beautiful! It gave us emotions so we decided we will come back here during summer! Thankful!

    Leotrim2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Amazing views. Great hikes in VT national forests not too far. Just might be our new favorite spot in VT, and we have a lot of them. If you are looking for a peaceful spot, this is it. Local spots for dining as snacks were great. Thank you!

    Sandra2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • First time using air bnb and Andrew was absolutely the best host. His home was super clean and so pretty. The views were amazing. The beds were so comfortable. Clean, great smelling sheets. He was always there to help me with what seemed to be to me the silliest questions. I loved the fact that he gave me ideas on what to do in the area. My family and I hardly ever have a chance to get together and I’m so glad that we were able to do it in such a magical place. We had an amazing time. Thank you Andrew for being such an outstanding host! We are looking forward to visiting again during the summer of 2020!

  • Amazing home! Everything was so beautiful and thoughtful, from the Bluetooth speakers in the bathroom to the painted table. The pictures don’t do the place justice. We had such a mice time and would definitely stay again.

    Shannon2020-01-13T00:00:00Z
  • We spent a wonderful weekend in this cute, quirky cottage. We fell in love with the funky decor the moment we stepped in. We had everything we needed. The home was clean and welcoming.

  • Such an amazing house, I went skiing at killington with a few of my friends and we all couldn’t of asked for a better experience

    Michael2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures do not do it justice! The bungalow is a wonderful place for your group, included with a nice sitting area where we played games to celebrate the new year and a great cooking space. We found everything we could have asked for and enjoyed a cozy stay.

  • Don't forget the Birdseye Diner!

    Doug2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Gina was a very helpful and flexible host. We communicated with her numerous times before our stay as our plans changed, and she worked with us to make our stay fit our family’s needs. While this made extra work for her, she was cheerful and helpful throughout our interactions. Gina’s cottage is cute and quirky. From the funky chicken dining table to the handcrafted bathroom sink faucets, everything in the house has a unique touch. We cooked Christmas dinner in the house, and found the kitchen to be clean and very well stocked. Beds were comfortable. Clean new towels were provided. We were warm and comfy. The bathroom was clean and really pretty. There were lots of little touches that show the host put lots of care into providing an interesting and enjoyable experience.

This is one of the nicest units I rent. The space is in an historic renovated building in downtown Fair Haven, VT. The space was originally used to manufacture shirts. I have divided the 1600 square feet into a two bedroom loft. It has very high ceiling and windows. It is very spacious and has been completed updated. The loft has it's own kitchen (not shared) and it's own lock and key. Since it is on the top floor of the building, it is very quiet and secure.
Very large kitchen area with appliances including a wine refrigerator. Washer/Dryer available in laundromat located on the ground floor of the building next door. The loft is accessed by tenant's own password or key. The kitchen is in the loft and not shared with others.
Downtown location. Coffee shop, Diner, Pizza House, Laundromat with Tanning Salon, Greek Restaurant, VT State package store, wine and beer shop, Barber Shop, Beauty Salon, new Brew Pub coming soon. Very close to Lake Bomoseen , Lake Dunmore, Castleton University, and Green Mountain College. Twenty minutes to Rutland. Thirty five minutes to Killington Ski Area. Thirty minutes to Pico Ski Area.
  • Great place with everything you need for a great stay. Comfortable beds, clean space and a great little town with charm!

    Tiana2020-02-25T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here during a ski trip to Killington. It’s a bit farther (around 35 min) than some of the other options, but definitely worth it. The apartment was spacious, with two full bedrooms, living room, foyer, etc. and had a fully stocked kitchen and bathroom. It was a a tad difficult to find, but the hosts gave us detailed check in instructions and were generally friendly and quick to respond. Highly recommend!

    Vikram2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • David's place was a great spot for me and my friends to stay while enjoying a long weekend skiing. The place was an easy 40 minutes to Killington. The condo was spacious, very comfortable, and clean. The hosts were accommodating and communicative. Would definitely recommend a stay here.

    Leslie2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was the nicest Air BnB we have ever stayed at! It was sparkling clean and everything; towels, bedding, furniture, appliances were of the highest quality. We did not want to leave! We happened to arrive as Robyn was in the parking lot and she took the time to go up with us and show us around. Such a beautiful and comfortable apartment. Loved the historic preservation and renovations that they have done. Robyn was the best hostess, very accommodating and immediately responded to any questions we had. She also followed up multiple times to make sure there were no issues and we were enjoying our stay. She went above and beyond our expectations. We highly recommend this Air Bnb and are looking forward to staying there again!

  • It’s a beautiful open space!

  • Had a great family trip to Vermont for skiing. The apartment was one of the nicest Airbnb we have stayed at with plenty of room for a family and a full kitchen for making meals. This is on our list for places to stay when we return to Vermont.

    Robert2019-12-31T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful, huge, open space in downtown Fair Haven. Super clean. Great amenities. Big comfortable beds. Thoughtful touches throughout the loft including a Christmas tree! for the holidays and two bins of toys for our children. By far, the best airbnb experience. Thank you David and Robin!

    Gibbs2019-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • The pictures of this place are nice, but do not do it justice. It is a huge space, sparkling clean, quiet and safe, with extremely comfortable beds and all the extra pillows, blankets, towels, etc., you will ever need. It's as if they had a Wayfair designer come in and furnish the place. We had absolutely no issues the entire 8 days we were there. There are two sets of stairs, and floor to ceiling windows on the third floor that do open, so not an appropriate space for little ones or individuals with issues climbing stairs ... but they tell you that in the description. We will be back!

Unique centrally located, peaceful country chalet between the Adirondack and Green Mountains on 60 acres. Near Lk George, Lk Champlain, Saratoga, Manchester & Rutland, VT. Hiking, fishing, swimming, leaf-peeping, or just relaxing. An air conditioner is on the main floor for the summer months. Our 9120 watt solar array powers our property. We have a spacious deck with table and chairs by the pool, a pergola, and a shady deck with table and chairs by the stream.
A renovated 150 year-old, Dutch built, post & beam building which stands alone on our property. Building and interior space largely made with re-purposed pine, hemlock, and southern yellow pine. Augmented by solar heat and sun-room. Pets are welcome as long as they are not left unattended in the space. Please ask for instructions if you choose to use the wood stove.
Basically, neighbors are very limited (1/4 mile away). However, the quaint town of Granville is a quick 5 minute drive away.
  • Incredible guest house. Better than what we could have imagined. Beautiful and comfortable. I can’t wait to return when the weather is warm.

    Dave2020-03-14T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice spot--charming, cozy, and comfortable. The great room with woodstove is amazing. This place is the perfect spot for those with dogs as there is a private entrance and plenty of space. Heating by woodstove was great. We'll plan to return. Thanks!

    Danielle2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • The barn brought us warmth and wholesome memories. You will enjoy the area, the comfort of the barn and Ben (thier dog). Everything you could ask for was provided. Enjoy your stay and relax!

    Joshua2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We only stayed for one night, but this place far exceeded our expectations. The refurbished barn was beautiful, clean, and homey, and Loraine was a very kind and helpful host.

    Kelly2020-03-06T00:00:00Z
  • As our first BNB experience, this will be the place we compare all the future BnB stays to, and this has set the bar pretty high. I can say that this is most definitely a great place to stay during the winter, and I’m looking forward to coming back as a regular, during the winter and summer. The reconstructed barn was wonderfully built and delightfully decorated. Everything was tasteful and up-kept with no neglect. With your first step in, you feel comfortable enough to take your shoes off and walk around as if you were home. Many places to hike, a lot of nature to take in, close by fishing areas, and areas for a snowmobile, it doesn’t fall short of things to do outside. Even inside, the house was equipped with multiple things to do, the last night we spent reading a joke book and just laughing until we fell asleep in front of the fire. The hosts were amazing. Friendly and the hospitality was great. It was really nice seeing them and talking to them a lot, getting to know new people. They will definitely be getting a Christmas card from me. The dog and chickens were one of my favorite parts of being there as well. Overall A+

    Tara2020-03-04T00:00:00Z
  • There are not enough positive words we could tell about Lorraine, Dean and their son Luke. The house is absolutely wonderful, huge, cozy and super clean. It is a perfect spot to relax. Our car broke down when we got there and Dean and Luke spent basically the whole weekend fixing it (they have all the tools you can imagine and they can fix anything!), helping us to get the new parts etc. while Lorraine was providing us with fresh eggs and amazing homemade food. They really went above and beyond and we will never forget their hospitality. A huge thank you to the whole family for having us and sorry for ruining your weekend.

    Jon2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great space, a wonderful secluded spot. If you’re looking for a getaway with plenty of outdoor space, this is it!

    Mike2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Loraine's place is the perfect cozy getaway! It was wonderful to unplug and sit by the woodstove, wake up in the loft to the sun bathing the gorgeous wood and glass-blown baubles, and wander the trails around the property! We had a great stay!

  • The cabin and location are simply out of this world. The cabin is very well equiped and nicely decorated, very cosy yet spacious enough to host a whole family/group. It is perfectly located on the lake and very private. We couldn't falt it and look forward to going back as often as possible. A real little piece of heaven. Furthermore Christina and Dan were great hosts and were quick to answer any queries.

  • Splendid housing very comfortable and very clean. The beds are very good. And we found everything we needed to cook. The region is very interesting. The accommodation is at the edge of a beautiful little lake. We did not find on this lake any boat to rent to be able to fish. We then went to Lake George to rent a boat.

  • The place is wonderful and the view from the deck is absolutely amazing. The house has everything one might need to lake vacation. We had a great time on the lake - swimming, fishing, kayaking and simply just wanting the lake with the cups of coffee.

There’s so much to do- kayaking, fishing (so many fish!), paddle boarding, swimming, hiking, biking!! We took our kids there for a long weekend right before school and it was 100% worth it! We hope to return next year!

    Jen2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Lake was AWESOME. Super clear water, can see the bottom. Had a great time trying the stand up paddle board and the kayaks. Great location and wonderful hosts. Hope to come back in the fall!

  • We had a great time staying here! The house was wonderful - very clean, nicely built, and with beautiful views of the lake. We had lots of fun boating; there were 2 kayaks, a paddle boat and a paddle board that we could use and we really enjoyed our time in the water! The water did get deep pretty quickly, but that was great for boating. Also, we really enjoyed exploring the surrounding areas. We went up to Lake George where there was also lots to do. All in all, we had a great trip and really enjoyed this house!

    Ann2019-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely lovely lakeside house that was a blast to stay at. Very clean and cozy. We spent a ton of time outside fishing and exploring the lakes with the kayaks/paddleboat/paddle board. Really awesome getaway spot.

    Tyler2019-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Christina and Dan's place was just as advertised. Situated on a private road on the quietest lake is their beautiful A-frame home. The interior is so homey, I especially loved the kitchen and loft areas. The fact that they have kayaks, paddle board, and paddle boat to use at your leisure makes for a super fun stay. We spent all day on the lake and evenings around their fire pit. And no worries if you have one rainy day like we did, because Lake George and other cities are a quick trip with lots of other things to do. We enjoyed our stay very much!

  • Great house, great views, great hot tub, we had a great winter getaway weekend. House is very relaxing, well appointed, the lake is beautiful, can't wait to come back to visit in the summer.

  • Went up here for skiing weekend - very comfortable, clean, everything worked great (including hot tub). Craig very responsive and helpful. Highly recommend

  • Had a wonderful time at Craig’s house. Very nice house, very spacious, and super comfortable.

  • We couldn't have asked for much else or a nicer property. Quiet, remote, peaceful, clean, comfy, spacious. Bedrooms large, and comfortable beds, plenty of living space, all clean. Wonderful indoor wood burning fireplace. Plenty of Kitchen stuff to cook. We didn't use the TV, as the R&R in front of the fireplace was too commanding of our attention. The TV is in another room away from the Kitchen and Living Rooms, so if that's what you want to watch, it wouldn't be distraction to others in front of the fireplace. Large deck and yard to play in and on. The Hot Tub was wonderful with the brisk winter breeze, and clear starry night. Being the winter time, we didn't use the outdoor fire pit or dock area, but enjoyed watching the neighbors ice fish in the afternoon. Very quiet road to take walks on without the concern of traffic. This is a very easy to find place and in under 15- 20 minutes drive, you have everything you need in the towns of Poultney, and Granville and Whitehall. We had a Fabulous Prime Rib Dinner at the West Main Grille in Granville. And many enjoyable conversations about Bigfoot in Whitehall. Stop by Mr. G's Pub, and chat with the locals . Book here and you won't be disappointed, as we're looking to return.

Spent the weekend walking the local trails and the evening sitting in front of the fire watching one of the many DVDs to choose from (Sopranos was our choice for the weekend). If you need a weekend getaway to leave the hustle and bustle of everyday life behind you, check this place out you’ll be glad you did :)

  • Kiki’s place is absolutely amazing! Honestly, this has been one of our best Airbnb experiences in Vermont. It was extremely clean and very comfortable. It seemed like every little detail in her cabin is thought through and the owner have gone above and beyond to make this a healthy, cozy home. Also, great location with a short drive to major ski resorts. We couldn’t have been more pleased with our stay in Kiki’s place!

    Denis2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This is a nice quiet escape from the too busy lifestyle most of us live. This cabin kept us warm and cozy with no problem when it was -2 degrees. The location is perfect, in a quiet place but close to stores and restaurants. We enjoyed the board games that were available to play. There are books to read, movies and coloring books. The lights around the fireplace are a beautiful touch. We were lucky that there was tea (I forgot to bring some) and coffee with a french press. There also was a basket full of items in case you had forgotten to pack certain items. The place was clean and cozy. This is a great place that we would like to visit again as a get away place. Thank you Kiki for being an amazing host!

  • Gatsby's Getaway was exactly what I needed to get me away from my hectic life and towards more zen. It's cozy, comfy and has a beautiful view. I would highly recommend staying here and in any of Kiki's other properties

  • My boyfriend and I wanted a quiet and simple get away weekend and this place was EXACTLY what we were looking for... and then some!!! The location is perfect, away from everything but also a short drive (5 mins) to grocery store and some fast food places. We drove about 15 mins to the town and restaurants. We ate at The Barn for dinner... highly recommend!!! Pat and Dick were great. I had asked if there was an outdoor fire pit available. (THERE IS!!!) They left a crate of paper, kindling, lighter, and saw for us. Because of the snow and cold, we opted out of the campfire this time- but we will be back to try again!! They even stopped by to make sure we were warm enough. Which we were, when we arrived the place was warm and toasty. There are plenty of towels and blankets. The bed was SO comfy and the space was just so homey and cute. Perfect for 2. All BASIC necessities are included. Can easily cook any meal here. We loved the simplicity. (Note there is no wifi or good cell service... which made our experience even better.) Bring DVDs if you want to watch a movie! Outside was so peaceful and quiet we loved sitting on the front porch swing. We could see so many stars!! An overall wonderful experience. We just felt so happy and cozy the entire time. Didn’t want to leave! We will be back!!

Enjoy easy year round living within a 5 minute walk of Lake Bomoseen, the largest natural lake in Vermont. Although not directly on the lake, you will have access to our personal dock space, the private homeowners boat ramp, grassy park area, and small private beach. Bring your boat, or rent one from the local marina. Bomoseen is known for its fishing. The Lakes Region of the Green Mountains is known for its beauty and history. The biking, skiing and hiking are excellent. Come and enjoy!
This house used to be our home, and it is very clean and well kept. It is simple, yet fully equipped and comfortable. The deck is great for morning coffee or just relaxing in the sun. It sits on 1/2 acre and has pretty good privacy and a great back yard for frisbee, whiffle ball, etc. The fire pit in the yard makes for a great way to spend the evening. On the 4th of July, you can watch the fireworks from the back yard while enjoying a BBQ!
Our house is on a quiet dead end street with almost no traffic, and feels fairly private. It is about a 5 minute walk to Crystal Beach Park. The Lakehouse Pub is 1/4 mile away. The new Lake Bomoseen Taproom, and The Palms restaurant are about a mile. Castleton is 3 miles and has a variety of eating options, inluding delivery pizza and some limited groceries. Fair Haven is 10 minutes for the closest full grocery store. It is 20 minutes to the bright lights of Rutland, which has all amenities. It is quick, easy access to Castleton University (5 minutes), Green Mountain College (15 minutes), College of Saint Joseph (20 minutes), and Middlebury College (25 minutes).

  • An awesome place to stay we did a snowboarding trip to killington for the day and this was just the perfect place to stay ! Sean was a great host as well answered any questions we had . An awesome place right on the lake and not to far from any place you want to go

    Zachary2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot, as advertised, owner very responsive and the driveway/road/parking areas are well plowed in the winter time. We got 3" of snow during the day when we were skiing and they promptly cleared it by the time we were home.

    Glyn2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Sean's place is great. Really easy to get to, feels like your way out in the boonies but your only a few short miles away from Dunkin, gas and small stores in Castleton. We went for the weekend to ski Kilington. It was an easy drive to the mountain and we stayed away from the craziness of being close to the resort. His place is clean and neat. Lots of paintings and the best is the vinyl record player. Plenty of albums to choose from. Our son and daughter (16 & 20) were so enthralled they dug through his vast collection and played at least 3 of them. Sean was very quick to respond to my emails and was so accommodating that he was willing to allow our daughter to arrive early. The view over the lake is great, even in the winter. We were fortunate enough to view a full moon setting over the mountains from the deck on Sat morning. You don't see that all the time! We would highly recommend Sean's place and would love to come back in the fall - the lake must be beautiful at that time of year. Chris, Melanie, Amanda and Andrew

    Chris2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • My friends and I used the house while skiing at Killington. The place is the perfect size for 4 that need a small get away. With a beautiful view of a frozen lake, the mornings and evenings were calm. The record collection is also the perfect mood setter, chock full of unknown gems. Sean was also a real great host, quick to respond.

    Dev2020-02-02T00:00:00Z
  • Sean was very good at answering any and all crazy questions we had, the cottage was super cute with a great view! We would have no problems staying there again if back in the area

    Briana2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • I know this street and general location very well because I've been going there for about 8 years. It is spectacular. And, when we ran into issues that were outside of Sean's control he made sure to take care of them as quickly as humanly possible. His kindness and assistance were greatly appreciated. I'm sure we will see him again.

    Stephen2019-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • Sean’s cabin in Castleton is a spacious yet cozy retreat from the powdery cold slopes of killington . We enjoyed our evenings listening to inner city’s “big fun” on vinyl while sipping the finest craft brew Vermont has to offer . Twas a fantastic getaway from the hustle and bustle of city life for us . Would definitely recommend . Cheers !

    Jono2019-12-23T00:00:00Z

Ken is an ambassador at Killington and will give tips and recommendations to make the most of your trip. Highly recommend!!

  • Much better than what I expected. Beds are so comfy and the dogs and cat are friendly. Great location if you're looking for a spot to stay the night before going to Killington or the other ski resorts. And the hosts are so nice!

  • Staying at this house doesn’t mean renting an airbnb but sharing moments with your hosts. I now find it really rare to find places like this where you actually get to meet your hosts and discover a little bit of their culture for a short (or longer moment). I really appreciated staying at this place, where we felt really welcomed. Bonus : enjoy the spa, the love of one cutie cat, two dogs, and a nice breakfast in the morning :)

  • You won’t be disappointed if you stay at Stephen’s house! He has everything you need to make your vacation perfect! His house is located in a beautiful area not far from any of the ski resorts and right off of a huge lake. The lake was frozen so we walked on it and some of us even ice skated. The views from the house were phenomenal and the presence of snow just made it that more beautiful. We were very warm and cozy in his house even when the temperatures dropped to -7°. The fireplace was a huge plus as that was the room we gravitated to in the evening. The house is huge and there was plenty of room for all 8 of us. We’ll most certainly be back if he’ll have us.

  • Wonderful place. My family came to visit from Toronto and Venezuela and they felt like home. So many details for a comfy and american home. The host was really diligent and helpful in each request. We also enjoy the view, the lake is incredible in winter.

    Miguel2020-01-03T00:00:00Z
  • The lake house is perfect. It's a great place to get away from every day stress. The area is very tranquil and friendly. The yard is huge , you can throw a ball around or some old fashion frisbee games. The grill is perfect cooking burgers and watching the water. I highly recommends the lake house. I would certainly consider coming back.

  • Great house for family vacation

    Lynnette2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • I live in Wells and I rented for my family to stay when they were in town for my daughter's graduation. The location is great, but so is Wells! A great little lake town with our famous Wells Country Store. Unfortunately my family didn't have enough time to relax on the back deck with a view of the lake and cliffs, but it is setup with a table and plenty of chairs to do so. Check-in was super easy and Stephen was quick to respond if I had a question. It is also nice that he provides linens and towels. Usually we have to bring our own. I would definitely recommend, and my family would also.

    Christine2019-06-09T00:00:00Z
  • Stephen is a great host. He provided responses to questions very quickly and was extremely flexible with check in and check out times. The house is very spacious and quite comfortable and you can't beat the calming view of the lake!

    Meghan2019-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • The house was so cozy and welcoming. An awesome fireplace, and deck overlooking the lake. Plenty if space and everything in the kitchen that you need to cook meals. It snowed quite a bit while we were there, and the driveway was plowed for us in the morning. The wifi worked well. Easy check in and Stephen was very quick to respond to any questions we had. Highly recommend!

"Glamping" is a combination of camping and comforts. This is a "dry cabin" (no running water). We provide plenty of potable water for drinking, cooking and outdoor showers. The cabin has cathedral ceilings, open floor plan, full kitchen, ceiling fans, carpeted sleeping loft with linens, outdoor portable restroom, and an outdoor shower. It is a short walk to Glen Lake and Lake Bomoseen beach and camp grounds.
Enjoy an authentic rustic woodland camping experience with a few luxuries: comfy beds, ceiling fans, Wifi, and a kitchen, in a spacious area. Although there is no running water, plenty of water for showers, drinking, and cooking is provided in containers. The kitchen includes a full size refrigerator/freezer, a full size stove, a sink with a drain, as well as a Keurig coffee maker, toaster, microwave, dishes, pots and pans, and cooking utensils. There is an outdoor portable toilet and an outdoor enclosed shower. Hot water heated on the stove can be added to cool buckets of water provided in the outside shower. A battery operated pump provides a nice 3 minute shower. If its chilly, a wood burning stove heats the cabin very well. There is a charcoal grill, charcoal, a portable fire pit, and plenty of firewood provided. This cabin was built in 2008 as a hunting lodge and has been well maintained and used minimally. The cathedral ceilings and pine interior create an impressive open space. Mounted deer heads add to the atmosphere.
Glen Lake is uniquely special in that it is pristine and natural, surrounded by Bomoseen State Park lands rather than private homes. Hiking trails are close by taking you along the lake and beyond. There is a Kayak boat launch at the bottom of the hill; 1/2 mile, and many private areas for bathing at this very clean lake. You may hear the sounds of loons or owls, Eagles are occasionally sighted. We will provide you with a list of local restaurants, shopping, recreation and places that we recommend. A stained glass studio is located in our home.
  • Beautiful location in the woods, yet close to town. Karen and Bill were great hosts, provided for our needs and welcoming. Highly recommend.

    Sandy2019-10-28T00:00:00Z
  • The owners tell it like it is. Glamping means that there's no running water but the wifi works great. There was plenty of water stored in the cabin for showering, washing dishes, drinking, but you have to heat water on the stove. This is a beautiful spot in the world; the lake, visible from the cabin and a short walk away, is gorgeous in the autumn, with trails all around. We parked the car and didn't move for the weekend. Bill is a gracious and attentive host.

    Efrem2019-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our little stay at this cabin. It was very cozy and the wood stove was great at filling the open concept with warmth - upstairs too. We spent some time reading the engraved names on the table and looking through the folder of the camp’s own little history, which adds a lot to the ambience. Karen and Bill were great hosts and we’re hoping we can return in the future!

    Riley2019-10-15T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place. Karen was very helpful.

    Craig2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Karen and Bill were very friendly and welcoming. They communicated everything clearly, they had the wood stove burning and ready for us upon arrival and had beer, local creamer, and maple syrup for us in the refrigerator. Super thoughtful. Our family absolutely adored the cabin and the lake. It was hard for us to leave!! We highly recommend these two and their cabin!

    hailey2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • It was a very cozy stay! It was raining throughout our stay and it being surrounded by nature, it was fairly quiet. Sometimes you can hear the cars passing but it’s not so bad. I had the best sleep ever for two days straight! The toughest part would be having to go outside in the middle of the night to use the porta potty. It’s quite a walk from the bed to downstairs to around the porch. The outdoor shower seems interesting. I unfortunately couldn’t use it because it was rainy and cold during our stay. Regardless, it was a great getaway. The surrounding areas were very quaint.

    Charisse2019-10-03T00:00:00Z
  • Location in Bomoseen State Park is truly beautiful. Outdoor shower was nicer than anticipated. If you're down to "rough it," this is a great place.

Nestled on the Northwest shore of Lake Bomoseen, this quaint summer cottage provides the perfect spot for fishing, swimming and enjoying lakeshore life in the beautiful green mountains of Vermont. Knotty pine and lofted ceilings present a bright and airy space in this 825 square foot cabin on the waters edge of the lake. This property is not suitable for children under the age of 12. The kitchen is a small space.
This cottage was built by my dad over 65 years ago. Lake Bomoseen has quite an interesting history as the largest lake entirely within Vermont's borders. It was once home to several large hotels and the railroad brought thousands of travelers to the lake resort area. Looking off the deck to the southeast, Neshobe Island is clearly in view and was home to Alexander Woollcott and his AlgonquinRound Table friends from the 1920s to the early 1940s. Neshobe was a common visiting spot for Harpo Marx, Helen Hayes, Irving Berlin and Walt Disney.
Lake Bomoseen is in close proximity to many great Vermont treasures including Middlebury and Ben & Jerry's to the north, Manchester/Dorset shopping/antiquing to the south, Rutland, Killington, Pico to the east and Lake George, New York is a 45 minute country drive to the west. There is a golf course and several restaurants that offer lake access and great views that are very close by. A drive south on Route 30 to Manchester is a "must do" experience for out of state visitors who want to enjoy the scenic Vermont countryside.
  • This cottage has a perfect view of the lake. It’s a quiet, peaceful location with comfortable beds and cozy surroundings.

  • This is a wonderful place and great home to kick back in. The best way to end the summer!

    Pearl2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • This little house is so charming and the location is absolute heaven! You have to go out the front door and walk around the house to get to the deck, but once there it's like you're floating above the lake. Couldn't get any closer to the water without being in it. And the swimming dock for being in the lake is lovely too! It got gorgeous warm afternoon and evening sun and we swam every day. Sunsets and mountain views are STUNNING. Location is so quiet and remote. The inside of the house is so wonderful. It's small but the living room combines with the sun room area in a lovely open floor plan that makes you feel like you're inside and out on the porch at the same time. The trees surrounding the house offer wonderful shade and make it feel like a little treehouse perched above the lake. The gazebo and fire pit are really nice touches. We had a fire on our last night and it was wonderful. Host provided wood, kindling, and even a fire starter! Perfect. No AC but there are fans provided and the lake breeze kept things comfortable. Only complaint is that the garbage handling instructions were a little fussy and we didn't realize this until too late. There's one garbage can for the living space and you can't put food garbage into it. Be prepared to put food garbage into a separate smaller bag that you bring with you and keep tied up in the freezer. At checkout you will take any recycling home with you, and you can only put garbage that doesn't smell bad into the garbage can in the yard for pick up. Any fish, fruit, or other smelly waste has to fit into the freezer. We didn't catch those instructions on the information sheet that was in the house until after we had used the garbage can. Not wanting to disregard the rules nor dig through the trash, we ended up taking it home with us.

  • Sweet cottage, eclectic & quaint, beautiful views, location & attentive host. Tranquil nights filled with stars & days of water & sun. Right on the water. Perfect!

  • We had a great stay, loved the house and the lake.

    Casey2018-09-10T00:00:00Z
  • We were a group of four friends staying at the cottage for four nights. We were looking for something quiet and relaxing to lounge around and enjoy the lake, and this absolutely hit the spot. It’s got a lot of charm, much sunnier than it looks in the photos, and Lake Bomoseen was absolutely beautiful and easy to enjoy from this spot. The dock and gazebo were heavily used by us for reading, swimming, getting some sun, and watching boats go by. The interior of the cottage, while a bit cozy for four adults, suited our needs just fine, and had a lot of fun and quirky personal touches like vintage lamps and artwork. The only cons were that we did a lot of cooking and the kitchen is super tight, and you have to walk through it to go in or out of the house, so we did have some traffic jams in the entryway around meal times. I also wish the main bedroom had a door or at least a curtain for privacy, but it didn’t wind up being a big issue for us. We all talked about how we had such a great vacation here, and would love to return next summer!

  • I rarely participate in leaving a review for anything but have to write about this stay at Joe's place. The host, Joe, was super friendly and gave me lots of tips for my trip to the area. The whole place was really clean and quiet. Looking at the sun setting over the colorful mountains with a beer in the backyard was the best. This place was the one I wanted to come back at the end of the day after checkout.

    Matt2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • I had a very comfortable 3 night stay at this beautifully renovated farmhouse. It's located on a lovely country road. I stayed in the Barn View room - it's a nice size, with a comfortable bed and private bathroom right next door (small shower with so-so water pressure but to be expected in such a rural environment). The shared breakfast room features a nice sized fridge with yogurt and bottled water for guests; a well stocked keurig machine; fresh fruit (apples/bananas), bagels with choice of cream cheese, butter and jelly; and some pastries as well. There are good places nearby for a full breakfast (Sunrise Diner) and I highly recommend Iron Lantern, which is at the end of the road on the right, for dinner. Nice rail trail that starts from the parking lot of Castleton University nearby. Joe made me feel right at home and was available if needed - otherwise, I had plenty of privacy. Enjoy!

  • A terrific location and spotless house. We met the house manager who was terrific. It’s no news to anyone that Lake Bomoseen has a major milfoil issue but it didn’t dampen our stay at all. Highly recommend renting a boat from Woodard marine. We had an 18 foot ski boat at the home’s dock for most of our stay from then and it was a highlight!

A truly unique space close to Lake Bomoseen. What was once an old horse barn has been lovingly converted into a charming Vermont home. The original sliding stall doors serve as the entryway to each of the downstairs bedrooms. There is a full basement with ping-pong & laundry. Set on 3 Acres with no visible neighbors and just moments from Swimming in the Lake, Horseback-riding @ Pond Hill Ranch, Skiing at Killington/Pico, day trips to Fort Ticonderoga, Shelburne Museum, Manchester & more!
  • Great place to stay for ski trips. Alison’s house is very clean with fully equipped kitchen. Will definitely stay again!

  • The property was truly charming with a rustic style. Everything was available that we needed to enjoy our stay including supplies to make a cozy fire. The central ac and heating was also top of the line equipment. The property is surrounded by beautiful pine. You will love this visit.

  • This house exceeded our expectations for what we normally find in this area for the price. It was so warm and cozy with a ton of space and everything we needed to make our stay a breeze. We rent condos and houses many times a year in the Killington VT area and beyond— they all start to look the same after a while but not this one. It is so unique! This particular trip is an annual tradition of ours and we can definitely see ourselves staying here again! Alison is a great host who provided a ton of information and had quick responses for all of our questions. The drive to Killington is a very quick 40 minutes through a part of Rutland many people probably aren’t familiar with. We found many new places to try on our trips back and forth to the mountain.

    Katie2020-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Alison's place! There was more than enough space for my family and pup and the house felt so cozy. It was a bit far from Killington where we were skiing all weekend but it didn't bother us so much as we looked forward to coming back and just hanging out at the house. Can't wait to come back.

  • Such a wonderful getaway for the weekend with a beautiful view of the lake! The cabin was very clean and cozy with a fully equipped kitchen. The WiFi was spotty but fine for a weekend spent unplugged.

  • Mary and Joe's place is cozy and warm, on a truly beautiful lake. There is an outstanding guidebook they put together that answers any questions a traveler might have. Also a great selection of movies to watch. They were extremely accommodating and friendly.

  • The place was great. Canoes, kayaks, paddle boats and boards to use. A beautiful quiet lake and a lovely cottage as well. Couldn't of asked for anything more. Joe and Mary were excellent hosts too.

  • We travel to Vermont nearly every summer, and usually book a lakefront rental. This was hands down, the absolute best experience ever. The owners provide a wonderful range of lakefront amenities in a house that is very nice, in a spectacular setting. Everything is as promised, with many nice small touches. We could not give a higher recommendation! Thank you Joe & Mary.

  • We had an excellent 3 day stay. The unit is perfectly situated on the lake and is nicely updated compared to other lakeside houses I've rented. Highly recommend!
