Places to stay in Holmbridge
A lovely double room overlooking woods half a mile from the centre of the market town of Holmfirth. English breakfast included and access to a private lounge with woodburner and door straight out into the garden.
This is a cosy double room with a wooden floor and original cast iron fireplace dating back to the 1880s. The window overlooks the garden, woods and stream beyond and still has the original wooden shutters. The room is quiet and dark at night (no ambient street light). There are old wooden beams, one of which is carved by local artist Mick Kirkby Geddes. Antique, but comfortable double bed with feather topper, chair, chest of drawers, wardrobe and dressing table. The room is part of our house so you will be sharing the main house bathroom, which includes a bath and drencher shower. (We do have other toilet facilities downstairs if there is a logjam!)
Holmfirth is a small market town, tucked into the foothills of the Pennines and about 5 miles from the centre of Huddersfield. The town is well known as the location for the popular TV series ‘Last of the Summer Wine’ and visitors take advantage of the classic Summer Wine tours around the area in a vintage bus. There are many excellent restaurants in Holmfirth (Indian, tapas, Italian, French) and the fabulous Picturedrome (www.picturedrome.net) – home to a range of concerts and tribute bands. Throughout the year there are many festivals - including Holmfirth Festival of Folk (early May); Holmfirth Film Festival (late May); Holmfirth Arts Festival (mid-June); Holmfirth Artweek (early July) and the Festival of Food in September. We are also 30 minutes drive from the award winning Yorkshire Sculpture Park ( www.ysp.co.uk) and 40 minutes from the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield (www.hepworthwakefield.org). The walking is varied and beautiful and it is possible to walk out of the door of our house and straight up into the hills.
  • Lovely stay, you won’t find better for the price.

  • I couldn’t ask for friendlier hosts. In my short stay I was made to feel very welcome and had everything I needed. The house is a very short walk to all the local amenities, and the view from my bedroom is lovely and peaceful.

  • We really enjoyed our short stay at Andy’s place! The house was well-located, the room comfortable and the breakfast lovely. Andy and Sally were very helpful and hospitable from beginning to end, even kindly letting us leave our bags in the house the next day so we could do some more walking. Thank you!

  • Staying at Andys place is lovely.. Great couple and a very warm welcome and great for visiting Holmfirth as just a short walk down to town. Cosy room is very very comfortable, so comfortable that we overslept for breakfast!! It didn’t matter as nothing was too much trouble and breakfast was resurrected!! Thanks Andy and Sally x

    Lizzie2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Really lovely place to stay and a very well equipped apartment. The combination microwave was a life safe saver as we struggled to keep the wood burning stove hot enough to cook in but that was probably due to our inexperience! We stayed here after a very informative tour of the vineyard and a tasting session of the wine...both of which we really enjoyed.

    Karen2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • At the bottom of the vineyard overlooking the valley, the apartment was in the perfect location. It was finished to a high standard with everything you needed for a short stay. We’ve already started planning a return visit!

    Melanie2019-12-21T00:00:00Z
  • The apartments are at the bottom of the vineyard just off the road. They are managed by the vineyard so check in etc was easy. The space is stunning inside and we had everything we needed. The restaurant at the vineyard made me a delicious afternoon tea and we also took a tour which was a little odd and cold but interesting. The restaurant and accommodation are impeccable and worth a visit! A log burner was an added extra and gave a real cosy feel to the place, felt very special. Our apartment had a huge bath too! Only minor issue was we couldn't access the Wifi but I am sure this will be rectified for future visits and it did not impact my stay. It does not include breakfast but you can access the restaurant first thing. I would highly recommend the accommodation and imagine they will be booked out in the future as its an absolute gem. Tom was fast in responding and a great host.

There is a private garden at the front with wonderful views of the valley, a large living area with a log burning stove and a large, fully equipped kitchen. On the first floor are two bedrooms, the first with a king size bed and the second bedroom has two single beds. There is a large bathroom with bath and shower. Just in case you don't want to venture out the whole of the top floor is a light and airy library with huge book cases full of books and two big comfy chairs in which to read them!
The cottage is a mid 18th century weavers dwelling with original features and quirky corners!
This cottage is located in the village of Holmbridge (1.9 miles from the centre of the busy tourist hub of Holmfirth) on the beginning of the infamous climb up Holme Moss - a well known goal for all keen cyclists! It has close proximity to beautiful reservoir walks and woodland areas.
  • Beautiful house, brilliant location for all Peak District walks and landmarks, excellent communication with host, absolutely faultless. Five stars

    Jake2020-03-20T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely cottage, beautifully furnished and very warm and comfortable. It was spacious enough to accommodate 2 adults and 2 teenage boys, plus the dog .It is very well located, close to 2 good pubs for food and drink and multiple places to walk, either from the front door or just a short drive. Kate met us soon after we arrived and provided excellent information about places to visit, eat etc. Sadly we didn't have great weather so missed out on the opportunity to explore the area as much as we hoped during our 4 day stay, but we are determined to return before the end of the year. Would have no hesitation recommending- feel we've discovered a gem of a place to stay.

    Lisa2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • A very cosy cottage in lovely countryside and a lot of very good walks nearby. You can do 20 minutes or 3 hours and we did both. Beautiful countryside. Kate was brilliant - really welcoming and so helpful. We have family nearby and know the area but if you don't, Kate is full of information. I highly recommend this cottage. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We thought the cottage looked great and we were not disappointed.

  • Kate met us on arrival and made us feel so welcome We had such a lovely stay; the cottage is so cosy and location is excellent. The locals are really friendly too which is a bonus! I would definitely stay again

  • Two adults, two kids and one dog had a marvellous stay at The Other Place. Kate was a great host and gave some good insights into the local amenities. Little touches like fresh bread, butter and milk were very nice. We will be definitely staying again! Thank you!

  • Very dog friendly cottage and relaxed helpful hosts. Beautiful area with plenty of options for eating out (even with dogs) as well as deliver in.

    Bridget2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at the cottage The other place was the most wonderful stay of our 3 weeks trip to England and Scotland. The cottage is wonderful and very cosy. It is more beautyful than in the pictures and with al lot of space and decorated with englisch taste. Kate is most welcoming and gave us - besides the welcoming details - very good advice on walks and things to do like the Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Thanks very much, Kate!

    Wilma2019-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fantastic, quirky little cottage with everything we needed for our short stay. The children loved exploring the library space, in fact I wish our stay had been longer so I could indulge in the books some more! The cottage was very well equipped indeed and nothing was too much trouble for Kate. Every suggestion she made (places to eat out, routes to go walking etc) enhanced our visit. Would love to go back! Thank you Kate, for your hospitality! 🙂

  • Absolutely lovely cottage in a fantastic location just a couple of minutes walk from local pubs. The cottage was lovely and warm when we arrived and had tea, coffee, bread, cereal, milk etc which was much appreciated. Parking is very easy outside the house and the beds were comfy and water was hot. Jeff was very quick to respond to any messages and was very helpful in ensuring we had everything we needed for our stay. We will definitely stay again!

Millpond Cottage is a beautiful, two bedroom holiday cottage located in the picturesque Holme Valley, in the village of Hinchliffe Mill just outside Holmfirth. Renowned for it’s rich heritage and breathtaking scenery, Holmfirth is a popular holiday location and perfect for anyone looking for an idyllic getaway.
Millpond Cottage is a original stone built mill worker's property that can be dated back to the early 1850s and is small but perfectly formed! There are two bedrooms, one double, one single, a bath/shower room and large living area, a log burning stove and a fully equipped kitchen, dining table and chairs. Our new river balcony gives you a great opportunity to sit quietly by the river and watch the local wildlife which include kingfishers and brown trout.
The cottage is close to Holmfirth centre (10 minutes walk) and only a few minutes drive from the Peak district. The area is great for walkers, cyclists and people to enjoy the great outdoors. We welcome dogs at this property - with such amazing dog walking country right from the front door it would have been a shame not to!
  • Amazing little cottage with everything u need ! Kate is so lovely and thoughtful , always taking one extra step to make sure we were having a nice time. Perfect for walks along the river our dog loved it :) The cottage is located just 5 minutes by car from Holmfirth this lovely little town that offers anything you need . We had a wonderful mini break and will be definitely coming back.

  • We had a lovely time. The house was great - snug and comfortable and ideal for taking the dog. Loads of great walks from the front door. Kate is a great host and made us feel very welcome.

  • We stayed at millpond cottage for 4 lovely nights in October as a base for exploring the Peak District. It was me, my husband and our 4 month old daughter. Kate texted me when I reserved to confirm details and arranged to meet us at the cottage when we arrived at 2pm. She was absolutely lovely and gave us lots of tips of things to do in the area including what walks were baby friendly and what pubs had good Sunday roasts etc. The cottage has a safe reserved parking spot for the car. The cottage itself is so cozy and sweet, every amenity you could need such as hair dryer, shower gel, logs for the fire, complimentary tea coffee milk bread and marmalade. The bedding was all really nice and lovely thick fluffy towels. Kate has set up the cot for the baby and turned the heat up so the cottage (which could have been cold in November) was lovely and warm. We found the bed really comfy and the curtains were nice and thick so we slept well. We walked into town with the baby in the buggy twice which takes about 25 mins, but there’s also a bus which takes around 6-7 mins to get you into holmfirth. We can’t wait to come back!

    Sarah2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Perfect place for a short getaway.

    Peter2019-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • What a gorgeous place! Kate to greet us on arrival was a lovely touch and we really appreciated it and her top tips for eating & walking! The cottage is adorable and so cosy and relaxing, the river below with ducks and brown trout is just lovely. Lots to see and do, plenty within walking distance! Very dog friendly - would recommend eating at The Catch (15 min walk up river path) gorgeous seafood there! The pickled pheasant is a v welcome drop in on the walk back from Digley reservoir - v nice wine & sandwiches ! Holmfirth winery is beaut views - but not the best food. And loads to see and do in Holmfirth, including the Carding Shed a mile or so out - vintage place for clothes, cars, bikes & other bits! Would love to come back xxx

    Karl2019-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • This is a lovely little cottage, with everything one could want for a wonderful stay. There were lots of nice little touches, especially the Christmas tree and decorations, as well as the welcome basket with delicious local marmelade, bread, milk and butter. Communication with the host was very good, and everything was done to ensure our stay was as comfortable as possible! We will definitely recommend this cottage, and hopefully we will be back again sometime soon!

Set in a picturesque village, overlooking the river Holme, surrounded by beautiful countryside, 5 reservoirs, an endless number of walks from the door, 2 local dog friendly pubs, a village shop, tearoom & vineyard with restaurant only 5 to 10 minutes walk away, numerous pubs & eateries within a 5 minute drive or 30 minute walk and an array of shops, takeaways, pubs, bars, restaurants & cafes in the centre of the market town of Holmfirth - most dog friendly & only a short, flat, 1 mile walk away.
The Old Wash Kitchen is a cosy, quirky cottage, so called because the lower floor started out as the wash kitchens and cellars of the two 3 storey weavers cottages which were later converted to form 2 cottages, one above the other. With original beams, exposed stonework & vaulted ceilings, it nestles in the picturesque village of Hinchliffe Mill with glorious views of hills, the river Holme, which can be heard babbling by, and the old mill pond. It's perfect for exploring the open countryside and locations seen on The Last of the Summer Wine on foot, with Holmfirth centre being a short walk away, or by car and is an ideal base for touring the whole of Yorkshire, the pennines and Peak district. With a spacious, well equipped kitchen with dining table and chairs, a small stone flagged area to the front with bistro set for 2, large lounge featuring an Esse gas stove, original beams and stunning view, 2 downstairs bedrooms, one with 2 full size single beds and the other featuring an exposed stone wall, a beautiful, intricately carved wood, antique double bed, a door opening out onto the lane beside the river Holme and a quirky vaulted cellar bathroom. Located at the foot of Holme Moss with numerous reservoirs, woodland and riverside walks and a dam only a 2 minute walk away where we offer the free use of a fishing permit for up to 2, this cottage has all you need for a Yorkshire countryside break. Holmfirth centre, with it's array of shops, cafe's, pubs, bars and restaurants is a short, flat 1 mile stroll away or, if you prefer, the bus stop to Holmfirth, outlying villages and Huddersfield (8 miles away) to connect with train services, is less than 100 yds away, the local minibus stops on the lane at the rear of the cottage to take you to Holmfirth centre and local villages, and local taxis are competitively priced and readily available. The close proximity to Holmfirth centre and it's transport links makes this an ideal base for guests wishing to visit events at the Picturedrome, The Holmfirth Festival of Folk, Holmfirth Food Festival, The Art Festival, Film Festival and other local events and we offer a minimum 2 night stay instead of 3 out of peak season so you can stay over without breaking the bank. A small selection of board games and dvd's are provided if you prefer a quiet night in and xbox games for the kids. There is a picnic basket, picnic blanket and ice packs available if you would like to dine out in the beautiful surrounding countryside and there is a small, secluded, stone flagged area to the front with seating for 2 where you can enjoy a morning coffee or a glass of wine (or 3!) in the evening. A high chair, safety gate, travel cot and fireguard can be provided by arrangement. Please mention if you'd like to make use of the free fishing permit on your booking request. ***PLEASE BE AWARE*** *The bathroom is situated within a vaulted cellar and although inside the room is full height the doorway is less than 5ft in height and may not be suitable for those less mobile. *This cottage is, what is known locally as an 'underdwelling', therefore, everyday noise from the cottage above is possible. *Although we do not offer private parking there is easy on street parking available. * We allow up to 2 dogs to accompany you free of charge. We do have some basic dog rules which we need you to adhere to which allows us to keep offering this. Please mention on booking if you intend to bring your dogs and how many will be accompanying you.
Located in a very beautiful, peaceful village but with the benefit of a local shop, pub and good transport services so there's plenty to see and do locally and throughout Yorkshire.

  • Great instructions and such a lovely place to stay. The accommodation was warm and welcoming when we arrived. Close to the river and felt so cosy on a horribly wet night. The welcome tray was a fab, locally made butter and marmalade were particularly good. Beds were super comfortable. And bathroom has a great feature entrance. House had everything we needed and more with games and DVDs Wonderful stay would recommend Claire as a host and the house too. Thank you

We just off the main road so access to the town centre is very easy. Holmfirth is a really busy little village and hosts lots of great events. • At Claire cute annex, you can expect nothing but perfection. Claire is a great host and nothing was too much trouble. It was exactly where we wanted to be.The place was spotlessly clean, cosy and the views were wonderful. We will return. Highly recommended

    Jane2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • The annex is so beautiful and amazing furnished! Claire is such a thoughtful host, alongside her husband - there was chocolate buttons left for us along side crumpets, milk, pastries ect. The annex was lovely a private, so we could have our alone time. I cannot not emphasise how lovely this was! We was also able to stay longer as there was no one staying there the next night which allowed us to look around Holmfirth. Would 1000% recommend this lovely place to anyone! Thank you so much - chloe and reef x

  • A great place for a stay in Holmfirth and the surrounding area. A fantastic view across the fields of the Holme valley. We only had a short stay but would happily go back for longer. Claire was a great host, she welcomed us and responded quickly to queries, but otherwise left us to our own devices.

    Chris2020-03-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great place just 5 min walk from central Holmfirth. Amazing views, as well!

    Elizabeth2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice stay Lovely apartment

    Ian2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • Claire is an excellent host! She was incredibly friendly and helped us with all our requests. Communication was superb! This gorgeous place is a lot more spacious than you think. Claire is so generous and left out pastries, cereal bars, cereal boxes, a small smoothie for our young one and much more! We loved our stay and we'd definitely come back, next time we're in Holmfirth. Thank you so much for having us. Top tip: If you're not an experienced driver / Parker, you're best to park road side, but, if you can handle it, the drive is very convenient and so close to the entrance! Thanks again Claire. This really was one of our best Airbnb stays.

    Magnus2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Claire is an exceptional host and the space is wonderful. Warm, clean and with everything you need including more than enough for a breakfast in the morning. The view from the windows is great and it's a 5 minute walk down the hill into the town. Thoroughly recommended.

Millrace Cottage is a beautiful, one bedroom holiday cottage in the village of Hinchliffe Mill, just 1 mile away from the busy centre of Holmfirth. The cottage sits on the River Holme directly opposite the original millpond and stone stepped outfall. Our new river balcony gives you a great opportunity to sit quietly by the river and watch the local wildlife which include kingfishers and brown trout.
This place is great for couples for a romantic break away from it all.
Within easy walking distance you can find the village store, local pubs, tearooms and The Vineyard. Renowned for it’s rich heritage and breath-taking scenery, Holmfirth is a popular holiday location and perfect for anyone looking for an idyllic getaway, peaceful break or for those just wanting to enjoy the countryside from their doorstep.
  • Above and beyond in quality, hospitality, and amenities!!!! We came to Yorkshire for a friend's wedding and can't wait to return to visit them so we can stay at Millrace again. Arriving to fresh bread on the side and milk in the fridge was fab after a four hour drive. Kate popped by to say hello on arrival and recommended some places locally, just fab. The cottage it self was sublime!!! Clean, well presented and the homely place we hoped it would be. We will be back for sure xx

    Lorna2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • I was looking, for a step away from a hectic and stressful work life. Somewhere to unwind, chill and be peaceful. Millrace provided all that and the recommended walks by Kate, just what I needed. Kate is an amazing host and the cottage is like a best friend who welcomes you. The ducks, over the balcony became my therapy. I found a pet shop in Holmfirth provided food to keep them happy at £1.50 for a massive bag. I will most definitely be back and have no hesitation in highly recommending.

    Annie2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage, with everything you could possibly need. The little balcony over the stream is a delight. Easy walk into Holmfirth, with its 'Last of the Summer wine' locations but easy to get to places like York and Harrogate. We had great weather but loads to do even if not the case. Kate was a terrific host ensuring we had everything we needed. Would thoroughly recommend.

    Annette2019-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • A lovely little cottage backing on to a stream with great views of surrounding countryside. A balcony allows you to relax to the sound of the stream and if you like feeding ducks there are many grateful customers ! The cottage is well furnished and has log fire for cosy nights. All amenities for a self-catered stay are included. It's about 20 min walk into Holmfirth which means you don't have to use the car. The host Kate is very welcoming and a great source of local knowledge.

    Alison2019-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • This lovely little cottage is the perfect pied-a-terrestrial for visiting the many places in the area. The small balcony is a lovely addition where you have your own tiny nature reserve on your doorstep....Fish, ducks, waders, and lots of bird species I didn't know. Quite a sun trap too. Everything you require for a break from life. Thankyou.

    Sharon2018-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely, cosy cottage, great location with lots of thoughtful touches. Great communication and Kate was very welcoming and helpful. We hope to visit again.

    Susan2018-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • Millrace is a wonderful cottage - cosy, clean, stylish and in a great location. Local walks are made easy with the laminated maps of popular routes that are so kindly provided. And if you just want to stay indoors, the cottage itself has everything you need for a very comfortable stay. I highly recommend this place!

    Lucille2018-04-02T00:00:00Z
  • If you want the most peaceful cottage imaginable in a beautiful part of the country, full of thoughtful touches then this is the place for you. Would be a perfect romantic retreat but was also a perfect solo retreat. Everything you needed for a relaxing stay. I am missing the sound of the river and the ducks already

  • For the experience of a wonderfully maintained old-style Yorkshire cottage surrounded by stunning scenery, everything you could hope for is here. Between the knowledgeable host and friendly farm animals, we were made to feel right at home and provided with everything that we needed. There are plenty of activities in and around the property, and tons of gorgeous public footpaths to explore. Heath was incredibly helpful whenever we needed him and always quick to communicate. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend to anybody. A perfect trip guaranteed!

    Patrick2020-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • We found Heath’s place so comfortable and relaxing. It was just what we needed when all around was in turmoil. Highly recommended. We really want to go back soon.

  • The most charming house in a picturesque location!

    Chris2020-03-16T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is quirky with lots of character and history in a beautiful location. I had a wonderful stay here. Heath is fantastic and very helpful, I’d highly recommend this cottage

    Lizzie2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Heath was a fantastic host! From the moment of booking we were contacted within the hour with details of checking in and directions etc. Heath kept in contact each step of the way, this was our first airbnb stay, so didn't know what to expect, but Heath pulled out all the stops to make our night away a pleasure. The cottage is a little hidden gem and ultra cosy! We had just the one nights stay and felt like it was a home away from home, everything clean and sparkling. We specifically loved the artwork throughout the house, along with an array of books and games that kept us entertained on a dark winters night. Everything was perfect, a testament to a good host. We hope to stay again in the future! Ashley and Katie

    Ashley2020-03-10T00:00:00Z
  • What a find. A very quirky, rustic place of tranquility. A very warm and cosy place in spite of the wind and some rain. Everything you need ( in fact more than enough Dvds, games and books ) . Some great walks locally and 2 great pubs. I ate at the Red Lion which was cosy, friendly and good pub food.

    Jan2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • A great place to stay and Heath is a brilliant host, with excellent local knowledge. We loved our stay here and would love to come back again

    Mark2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Only had one night at heaths but I loved it! The cottage is full of interesting bits and pieces. Lots of interesting books to browse and a well equipped kitchen. Heath is only round the corner for any questions and you might be lucky and get his cat as a visitor! The place is so quaint and charming. There is a pub literally down the lane but I did not get chance to check it out. If you like a walk/run I did a great 10k loop round digley reservoir which is only 10mins drive away. I will definitely be back with more time to explore.

Welcome to "The Lodge", a charming converted Victorian washroom near the centre of Holmfirth - home of “Last of The Summer Wine” and The Picturedrome. Location: Across from our house, by the park. A 2 minute walk down the hill to central Holmfirth. Inside: Private and self-contained. Gas central-heating. Comfortable double bed. Wifi, TV, DAB radio. Fridge. Tea and coffee. Hairdryer. Shower room with toiletries and towels. Outside: Terrace with table and chairs. Reserved parking on our drive.
Our lovely mini-cottage was once the washroom to the main house. It was built from local stone c 1900 and originally contained white glazed tiles, a coal-fired range and a stone wash tub. On the side of the building is a face carved in stone, which we have been told is that of the man who had the houses built for his 2 daughters. We converted "The Lodge" into a spare bedroom about 10 years ago. It is well insulated and heated by a radiator and towel rail from a gas boiler located in our garage. On fine days you will be able to enjoy breakfast in the sunshine on the small terrace where there are garden chairs and a table.
We are located literally a stone's throw from the centre of the lively and friendly town of Holmfirth, adjacent to Victoria Park. All the local amenities are conveniently available within walking distance. Whether you are here for shopping and sight-seeing; the food, music or art festivals; a live-music gig at the Picturedrome; or to enjoy a night out in one of the many pubs and restuarants, you will be able to leave the car safely parked and set off into town on foot. There are also several cafes in the town to choose from for breakfast and lunch. Please note that Cooper Lane is steep with a cobbled pavement on one side only. Holmfirth is an ideal base or stop-over point for walking, cycling and touring holidays. It lies in the picturesque Holme Valley and is close to the Peak District National Park. The Tour de France route came through here before attacking the formidable climb up Holme Moss in 2014. The council-run gym and swimming pool, and a recreation ground, are only half a mile away by the river.
  • Absolutely outstanding lodge and amazing value. The bed was by far the comfiest bed I’ve ever stayed in. Throughout the lodge there was little touches that made a big difference to our stay and made it more enjoyable. We will definitely be returning to the lodge in the future. It’s an absolute credit to the owners!! Thank You 😊

  • A wonderful place to stay in the heart of picturesque Holmfirth. Cathy and George go the extra mile to make sure your stay is a happy one. The Lodge is clean, comfy and oh so relaxing. A joy from start to finish.

  • Cathy and George have made their bijou lodge a wonderful place to stay, with their imagination and attention to detail. I do believe they have thought of everything a traveller might possibly need!

    Alison2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • The place was very well situated right near the middle of Holmfirth, all the amenities were great and there were some nice touches such as orange juice and milk in the fridge as well as coffee and tea available. We very much enjoyed our stay and would come again in future.

    Simeon2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was my 3rd visit to the Lodge. It is a lovely space to relax and I always enjoy staying there as a base for visiting friends and taking walks from the door into the nearby countryside. It is very comfortable with lots of thoughtful touches. Also, it is conveniently located in the middle of Holmfirth but feels a little hidden away and is quiet (you can’t hear any traffic noise from the main road, for example.). I would recommend, and I hope to be back to stay again soon. Thank you for creating this lovely space, and for being such lovely hosts.

    Marie2020-01-04T00:00:00Z

Beautiful one bed cottage with private garden looking out on to the beautiful countryside and parking ( a must for Holmfirth ). Brand new furnishings and fittings throughout. Wifi, TV and a quirky Space Invaders machine, what more could you ask for? A very easy, pleasant 20 minute stroll brings you into the centre of Holmfirth. Village pub and convenience store literally across the road from the cottage.
  • Cracking location. Brilliant Communication. Incredibly generous and flexible regarding checking in and out, making our stay there much more relaxing and enjoyable. Would and do definitely recommend to anyone.

  • Great little place, good location, would definitely stay again.

    Andrew2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • The flat may be small, however, it is perfect for a couple (and for our 2 dogs). It’s really well equipped, lovely and warm, great location with a pub across the road and Holmfirth a short walk away. The garden is secure and there are great walks from the door. We used it as a get away from our home in Holmfirth whilst we had some building work done, which proved so useful, and Duncan was the perfect host throughout.

    Phil2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Far better than we expected. Ultra Cosy inside and with everything you could need. Hosts very responsive to messages. We will certainly be staying again when back in Huddersfield visiting family.

  • Clean, cosy, modern flat with great views across the valley. Access is by a shared footpath through the neighbouring gardens. There’s a table and chairs so you can sit out and enjoy the views. Ideal base for a visit to Holmbridge and Holmfirth.

  • My 4th visit. Duncan’s place never disappoints, it’s sparkling clean & very cosy. I shall definitely return.

A beautiful house, immaculately presented and great hosts The weather was awful which was a shame, but this meant we stayed in the house more which was fine, lots of room for us to spread out. We will stay again

  • We very much enjoyed our stay. Mandy was kind enough to meet us at the house and show us round. The house is large and with two full living rooms, large dining room and kitchen, there is plenty of space. Loved cooking on the Aga (best roast potatoes ever). The area is beautiful with walks and hikes right out of the front door, but not too far from the shops if need be. The family all enjoyed our stay and I would happily stay again.

  • Catch up for group of friends. Everything we imagined - house is beautiful, we had a chilled relaxed few days just hanging out (pretty much in the house!). Bedrooms were all great and dining room great space for us all. Spent most of our evening time in the lounge areas upstairs. Mandy was a great host - brilliant communication and welcoming. We will be back!

Our cosy little cottage is located in the tranquil village of Hepworth, on the edge of the Peak District and perfect for those wanting to take a break in the countryside. Surrounded by great views, scenic walks and many biking trails. The cottage is ideal for couples, solo adventurers, business travellers and biking/hiking enthusiasts.

Two miles from Holmfirth centre, home to many bars and restaurants, as well as the popular Picturedrome venue which attracts an array of musical and sporting events. • I can’t recommend this house enough. It was one of the best Stay ever. The house is super clean and very cosy. It has everything you need for a perfect stay. The indoor fire place is so nice that we didn’t want to leave the house. It’s in a very quiet area, but there are some local pubs nearby and it’s not far from a lot of attractions. It’s a very safe place to stay. Alexes and Jonathan are perfect hosts and very friendly. I definitely recommend this place.

  • This cottage is very comfortable, well thought out with many thoughtful little touches. We enjoyed a two night stay and felt so at ease here. Eating one night in Holmfirth and the other delicious fish and chips from scholes in the cottage. It was a relaxing time and would certainly recommend. Very comfortable bed and a beautiful view when pulling back the curtains in the mornings! Absolutely fabulous!

    Rosie2020-03-03T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely cosy little cottage with a fantastic wood burning stove. Very comfy bed and an amazing bath room! Lovely little touches include DVD's, Sky, umbrellas and shampoo and conditioner. The hosts even left us milk so we could have a cupper when we arrived.

  • Really nice place to stay not a long drive to amazing walks in the Peak District and a few great pubs in walking distance from the cottage

  • Very nice cottage in a super location.

    Steve2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is beautiful and the local town has a lot of restaurants and bars around. There are a few car parks in town so no need to be too careful about taking the car. If you are a dog owner, you will love that there are a lot of pubs and cafes that allow dogs inside. Not all, just a word of warning before you walk in. Our favourite pub (Butchers Arms) which is literally five minutes walk up the hill will allow dogs and has fireplaces to give that cosy feel. We were very lucky to be allowed to check in early and we were greeted by Alexes the owner. We are appreciative that they were accommodating to the last detail. The fireplace was ready for use and there was milk, shortbread, and two beers in the fridge. Unlike most hosts, they will allow you to get settled and leave you to enjoy your holiday to you despite living next door. If you are looking for a place to stay, my fiance and I would very much recommend here. We look forward to returning as soon as possible.

We only ask that pooches don’t venture into the master bedroom:) We do have clean dog beds available to you if you need them, though; just let us know:) If you’re cyclists, then there is also the option of a secure storage space downstairs for bikes.
Sitting in the heart of the breath-taking Holme Valley, this picture-postcard town is popular with walkers, cyclists and wildlife lovers alike. Holmfirth is the renowned location of the TV classic Last of the Summer Wine, and the acclaimed live music venue, The Picturedrome, a century-old picture house that stages touring bands throughout the year.
  • Nice space in good location at great value. Try the farm shop next door; far more than just a butcher.

  • Wonderful hosts and location!

  • This was a well equipped, clean and tidy apartment. The heating was excellent (especially welcome as there was a storm outside) and we enjoyed our two days there. Plenty of places for dog walking when the rain stopped!

Our lovely Bunker is situated 3 minutes walk to the centre of Holmfirth and the Picturedrome. Built in our garden, this hideaway serves as accommodation for our large family to use when visiting. It has a large open plan kitchen/lounge diner with a sofa bed, one double bedroom, an office area, bathroom and a utility room housing the laundry facilities. It has underfloor heating and is double glazed. There is a dedicated parking space on our drive and a deck to sit on, in good weather.
The Bunker is delightfully private and self contained but only a stones throw from the centre of Holmfirth. Equally it is just a few minutes walk to the hills that made Holmfirth popular in "The Last of the Summer Wine" tv show.
We are located close to the centre of the lively and friendly town of Holmfirth. All the local amenities are conveniently available within walking distance. Whether you are here for shopping and sight-seeing; the food, music or art festivals; a live-music gig at the Picturedrome; or to enjoy a night out in one of the many pubs and restuarants, you will be able to leave the car safely parked and set off on foot down the hill to town . Please note that South Lane is steep but there is an easier shingle path up our garden to The Bunker. Our hens are free range so don't be surprised to find one trotting up the path with you. They may even lay you an egg for breakfast! Holmfirth is an ideal base or stop-over point for walking, motorcycling/cycling and touring holidays. It lies in the picturesque Holme Valley and is close to the Peak District National Park. We have many wonderful cycling roads in fact 'The Tour de France' route came through here before attacking the formidable climb up Holme Moss in 2014. There is a doctors surgery, council owned public gym and swimming pool less than 15 minutes walk away.
  • Beautifully clean home, excellent location and great customer service. Would definitely recommend and will be booking again in the summer.

  • Julie’s guest bedroom is really lovely. It was warm and comfortable and lots of space to spread out and relax. I was on a working weekend and she made sure I had an early breakfast and gave me coffee to take away in my flask, which was a kind gesture that made all the difference. We enjoyed a chat over breakfast every morning and I was able just chill on my own in the evening. I would recommend this place to stay for other travellers. thank you Julie.

The Writers Cottage is a homely and romantic period curiosity huddled into the heart of the bustling little mill town of Holmfirth in the breathtaking Holme Valley, on the backdrop of the Pennines. The cottage is simply furnished, unique and honest with plenty of character, period features. Central location within 2 minutes walk from amenities & restaurants. South facing with beautiful views across to Holme Moss. A great base to explore Yorkshire and Peak District Park
The Writers Cottage is a 250 year old grade II listed building which is entered through the original door into a typical Yorkshire living kitchen space, The cottage maintains the original stone flagged floor, stone fire place all set under the exposed timbers giving a cosy feeling. The cottage is south facing and the mullioned windows capture the light perfectly as it streams through the windows. During the summer months, on sunny days it’s a heat trap, during the autumn it captures the mood perfectly snug inside. The living area is simply furnished with a window seat, 1950s table and 4 original bodgers chairs and modern light fitting overhead. Snugged up against the stone stairs sits the ‘writers desk’ an imposing oak bureau and chair. A large three seater sofa and a 1940s reclining barely twist chair to relax. For those who like music, there is a 1960s record player and selection of vinyl . The terracotta walls give a warm feeling and can be illuminated with candles to give a cosy feeling to ponder over the artworks. The kitchen area has a more modern 90s feel and is brightly lit with plenty of cupboard space close at hand, gas cooker, electric Oven , a fridge with freezer box, pots, pans, cutlery, toaster all the basics you need to cook at ease. The bedrooms and bathroom are accessed by the now worn soft sandstone steps into the bright carpeted hallway with artworks. ‘The Cream Room’ simply has the traditional window seat with stone mullions, exposed stone, and jack sash windows. Simply furnished with a unique 1950s low cast iron bed, a chest of draws, mirror, light and teas maid and art works. The bed is ideally suited for children, adults and elderly, as Its low it’s easy to climb into. ‘Chimney Room’ (master bedroom) is named after the imposing exposed chimney with its handmade red bricks reaching to the eves. The room has exposed oak beams and view to a Mezzanine floor. The bed is a typical double Victorian brass and cast Iron which you climb into. A simple Victorian pine wardrobe sits in the corner with artwork on the walls. ‘Bathroom 948’ is aptly named from the number appearing on the 1950s refurbished cast Iron bath sitting on its original ball and claw feet. Whilst having many traditional features and artifices it has a stylish feel, incorporating a modem shower, exposed stone mullions and jack sash Windows, Outside is a sunken garden with stone walls, grassed areas and wooden terrace to catch the last sun rays.

  • Highly recommended!Beautiful, cosy and very special. We had everything we needed for our stay and the location is amazing. 2 minutes walk to the central Holmfirth area including the Picturedrome where we were attending a gig. Stunning surroundings and perfect base for exploring this idyllic area. Communication with Heath was fantastic and directions/check in excellent!Would definitely stay again!

    Joanne2020-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is beautiful, grade 2 listed and decorated to really accentuate that. Lovely comfy beds, we slept so well and Heath was a real gem - we’d come to do some walking and he managed to get hold of some maps which he kindly offered to drop round for us. We had no issue with the street parking and always managed to get a space. There’s some lovely walks right on the door step and Heath’s cottage is placed perfectly for some really nice local pubs - try the whippet and pickle which is also dog friendly. The weather was a bit of a shocker but the cottage is so lovely and cozy that it really made no difference to us. Thank you Heath for a really lovely trip we had an amazing time xx

No. 18, Holmfirth is a cosy, quirky cottage - three minutes walk to the centre of Holmfirth. It's located at the top of a steep road, but benefits from beautiful views from the top (and the H3 bus runs up every hour!) Perfectly located for the Picturedrome, bars, restaurants, shops and supermarkets. Holmfirth Vineyard is only a short drive away. Cannon Hall Farm and Yorkshire Sculpture Park are about 20 minutes away. Holmfirth also benefits from many loyal fans of Last of the Summer Wine.
Location: At the top of Cooper Lane, just 3 minutes from the centre of Holmfirth. Ideal if you’re visiting the Picturedrome. Cooper Lane is quite steep but benefits from the local bus (H3) running from the bus station in the centre of Holmfirth hourly from 9.25 until 16.25. After this time, if you don’t feel Ike walking back up, taxis are available (approx. £3). You could always take the scenic route through Victoria Park. From No.18, it’s a lovely walk starting half way down Cooper Lane! Outside: Bench to enjoy your morning coffee Patio area to the side of the house with table and chairs Parking on the road to the side of No.18 Inside: Wi-fi, TV, Amazon Fire Stick, DAB Radio Storage heaters Double bed Futon for a small guest (please let us know if you’d like this making up, in advance of your stay) Table top combination microwave oven Hob, fridge and washer Nespresso machine, kettle and toaster Bath and shower, with toiletries and towels Hairdryer and iron The space: Built c1900, No.18 is small but perfectly formed! The living room is cosy and traditional with a gas fire for those cooler nights. It has a table and chairs, suitable for a laptop. WiFi is free to use and the TV includes an Amazon Fire Stick. The kitchen is compact and includes a fridge, washer, combination microwave oven and hob. There is also a Nespresso coffee machine. No.18 has a spacious and bright bedroom with en suite bathroom, which boasts a bath and electric shower. In the bedroom there is also a futon which is ideal for a small guest or relaxing with a book. If you’d like this making up, please let me know before your stay. Your stay will be complimented with a welcome pack, which will include tea and coffee and some ‘essential’ Yorkshire extras. We include hair dryer, iron, towels, hand soap, shampoo, shower gel and face wipes! Extra bedding is also available upon request to ensure your stay is comfortable. Luggage drop off before/after your stay can be arranged but only with prior notice.
No.18 is a few minutes walk to Holmfirth. You can walk down by road or take a right (half way down Cooper Lane) through Victoria Park, taking in the stunning view. Holmfirth is buzzing with bars and restaurants. Try Lou and Joe’s, Y Bar or Harvey’s for yummy food! The Fair Trader shop, opposite Bloc (excellent breakfast), is well worth a visit too, I’ve often come out if there a few £s lighter! Holmfirth also has a Sainsbury’s Local, Co-Op and, a short drive away, Lidl and Aldi.
  • Brilliant spot for Holmfirth (and the vineyard!). Joanne couldn’t have done enough for us, from early check in to lovely little touches, she has literally thought of everything. Would highly, highly recommend.

  • Nice cozy cottage once you find it ..... which isn’t easy. Your have to park your car in the station car park. Take luggage down to Harvey’s then turn up that cobbled path to the book shop then turn right and at the end of the row of houses is Cozy Cottage, which is entered through a gate. Once in it is plenty big enough for two people. It did take a while to warm through but once it had it was perfectly comfortable. The complementary milk, OJ, Water were out of date. Upstairs the bedroom and bathroom was clean. I would stay again now I know how to find it and park etc. The location is superb.

  • Great little cottage , everything you need , loved the log burner , the cottage is bang in the centre ideal location in holmfirth .

    Jeanie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for exploring Holmfirth and if you are a fan of Last of the Summer Wine, the location is just perfect, only a few steps from Sid’s Cafe, the start for the tour bus, Nora Batty’s home and Compo’s Exhibition. The cottage itself and its amenities were just right. I much enjoyed staying in a local property with its build style and construction materials very different to my home town. I used the kitchen for cooking full English breakfast and evening meals and no problems here. It was also appreciated that there was milk, OJ, coffee and tea etc. The cottage was lovely and clean, and exactly as described. The bed was a super king size and very very comfortable and even though in a very central location no noise or disturbance from the street or traffic. I did light the log fire on two of the evenings, this was easy and made the cottage really homey, especially as I stayed during November. All in all a great cottage to stay and I would certainly recommend.

  • Cozy cottage was exactly that, a cozy, homely and comfortable ‘base camp’ for our time in the area. It was our first weekend away with our newest addition to our little family, a four month old golden retriever pup. He was very comfortable chilling out on his bed in front of the wood burner after a day of being outside. The amenities were very welcome. Tea and coffee making facilities, along with everything you need to get the wood burner going. The cottage was perfect for us as a couple and our four legged friend. He wasn’t allowed up on the furniture (the pup I mean, not my partner), but this wasn’t an issue as we knew in advance and brought his bed along. The place was very clean and a comfortable home-from-home.

  • Stopped off at the ‘old Yorkshire chapel’ for a few nights on our way up to the lake districts. This lovely little flat served all our needs with easy access to lovely pubs/restaurants, and a great base to explore the Peak District. Thanks for letting us stay from one Coopers to another.

    Jamie2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay. Perfect location for seeing friends and family in the Holme area. Great location for starting walks and bike rides. The apartment was exactly what we needed - some space to relax with our little family. Thanks for having us!

  • This is a comfortable and cosy place to stay, with everything you might need, and nicely furnished. Nice touches such as a pint of milk in the fridge and some biscuits and upmarket lemonade left for us on arrival. There were Christmas decorations up too which made it feel very homely. Louis and Beth were very helpful and communication was quick and easy. Would thoroughly recommend if you need a base for the Peak District or Huddersfield area, and Holmfirth just up the road is now quite a destination for eating and shopping. A lovely pre-Christmas break.

  • The apartment is located in a lovely setting with the river close by and very close to all amenities. The apartment is nice and spacious and very comfortable to stay at. Would definitely recommend this place to stay. Very handy being so close to the local cricket ground. Louis and Beth were very helpful from the start of the booking and offered suggestions. They also arrange a pull out bed for a fourth guest which was so great.

This is a single bedroom in addition to double bedroom available as listed separately. All house/location details are the same as double bedroom, other than room itself of course. Single is at cheaper rate. Within Holmfirth district but located 3 miles from Holmfirth centre; in a friendly and quaint village. 10 minutes from Huddersfield, commutable to Greater Manchester, Wakefield, Calderdale, Kirklees etc, as quite centrally located.
Single room available, 1 guest at one time (double room also available). Modern cottage, with traditional features such as exposed beams, open fire with log burning stove, mullion windows, low ceilings and cosy and comfortable feel. English vintage and ethnically inspired decor, nuanced with worldwide artefacts and shabby chic touches in keeping with cottage ambience. Clean, tidy and welcoming property in the heart of a quaint village with all local amenities in close walking distance and a few metres from a lovely church. Host lives in property but often out or away and is friendly and welcoming:) Peaceful environment, ideal for a break or as a short stop en route. Good quality mattresses and guaranteed clean bedding ensures a tranquil night's sleep.
My place is close to Holmfirth tourist area, cafes, restaurants, library, wine bar, village shops, bus stop. Local walks, reservoirs and picturesque countryside nearby. Friendly community, peaceful village yet not secluded or cut off from civilisation! Nearby town is Huddersfield, central location to get to a number of big cities and motorways in the region. Commutable to Kirklees, Calderdale, Wakefield areas. Leeds and Manchester under an hour away.

  • France's house is so lovely, within easy walking distance to Holmefirth, the local pub The Bridge is fantastic and very welcoming, food there was fantastic, there are lovely walks to the rear of the house around the reservoir. The games room in the house is brilliant, I think we all spent most of our time in there, the house itself is beautiful, bedrooms are lovely and cosy with beautiful views. I really cannot thank Frances enough for making my husband's birthday weekend possible, she really did go out her way after another host let us down at the last minute, we definitely ended up with the better deal though, from the moment of arriving it was wonderful. Helen the housekeeper was also great, very welcoming and informative.

    Elaine2019-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Frances has a beautiful home, the photos don’t do it justice! There was lots of space for our group and the games room was perfect for us all to gather in in the evenings and not feel like we were disturbing our hosts. The surrounding area is beautiful and Frances was helpful in suggesting where we could go for walks and recommending pubs! Frances and her husband were friendly and hospitable hosts and I would recommend this property for any groups of friends wanting to escape to the countryside for the weekend.

    Lucky2018-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely old house, large and comfortable rooms. Would suggest booking the party room if visiting with more than 5 people as it is a great large communal space to relax in, especially when the weather is less good. Frances recommended a really nice local walk, pub down the road has good food, breakfast was home cooked and top quality.

    Sophie2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Frances is a great host and the house is amazing. We were a large group with three generations, Frances and Ralph were flexible and accommodating to our diverse needs. Lovely views of Yorkshire hills, clouds and sheep from the windows, a beautiful garden and tea available whenever you need it.

    Andrew And Susan2018-08-20T00:00:00Z
  • Frances' house is lovely, and the location is great. She's a warm and friendly host and I'd recommend upgrading to the breakfast (which was very tasty and well cooked) and pool room which was a cool place to relax. Frances is on hand with local knowledge if needed and her dog is super friendly.

    Jamie2018-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Large secluded farmhouse with great access to the Peak District. Great hosts.

    Jonathan2018-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Great place for a weekend with friends. Very accommodating for those with babies and dogs. Nicely located for walks and we also headed to the local vineyard. Frances was a lovely host, left us to our own devices but on hand of ever we needed something. We played lots of croquet in the garden had a BBQ and used the games room. The bed rooms were comfortable, all in all a lovely weekend.
