From day one, stepping off the ferry, Liz gave me a warm and friendly welcome to the island, collecting me from the pier and taking me up to the Shepherd's Hut. The Hut itself is a place of tranquil calm and beautiful views. Perched up on a slope, either sitting snuggled in bed or sitting on the Hut steps with a cuppa in hand, you can watch the changing weather play out over the sea - the rain obscuring the mainland, or the sun highlighting shadows on the island and making the sea sparkle. It is cosy and well kitted out, and only a short walk (about 15mins) down to the shop, cafe, and shower at the pier. It is a place that takes you away from everything and provides a bubble to rest in and come back to after exploring Eigg at the end of the day.

The Shepherds Hut is a very lovely and special place. It is perfect for a peaceful and relaxing break. It is cosy, comfortable and has amazing views. Alex and Liz are super friendly and very helpful hosts. I will definitely be back and soon.

What a wonderful trip! Stunning location, friendly and helpful hosts and clean nice accommodation.... what more could you want! Eigg is a beautiful island with lots to do for outdoors people, there is wildlife everywhere you look (we were lucky enough to see dolphins and seals from the shore). The accommodation has everything you need and is very comfy and warm. Alex kept in communication with us and was very forthcoming with tips on things to do while we were there. Definitely value for money, if you're reading this and you don't book you're missing out!!

A lovely place, clean, compact but with everything you would need - kettle, cutlery, cafetière etc. The view in the morning was awesome. Alex and Liz were very nice and the island is stuffed with people who are really friendly. This was a work trip for us, but I will definitely be back to Eigg and would like to stay again in the Shepherd's Hut.

The location, the accommodation and hosts are all outstanding. Wouldn't not hesitate for a moment in recommending a stay here. Our hosts met us and helped with luggage and 2 dogs! The Shepherd's Hut is small but perfectly formed. I wanted for nothing. Alex and Liz were great hosts, communication was excellent and I felt totally relaxed the whole time! Do visit.

From the pre visit comms and advice this was fantastic. This accommodation forms park of a larger (but not overly large) group accommodation house set on the hill (about a 2km hack up) overlooking Galmisdale Bay. Our kit was ferried on arrival to the accommodation together with the provisions bought from the small but perfectly formed shop on the harbour front. Solid steed bikes can be hired from the harbour too and are highly recommended as the best way to investigate the island - locks not required. The space is laid out efficiently and combines privacy with stunning views and all the essentials (including maps and guidebooks) and space needed to allow a relaxed and comfortable stay on this wonderful island. Whilst this is not the only accommodation on the island I really see no reason to change. We're already planning several return journeys.

Glebe Barn apartment was gorgeous and Tamsin and Stu were really lovely and helpful. The apartment is exactly as described and the views are incredible. It's impeccably clean and tidy, with everything you need in the kitchen to cook. We loved the island, there's so much to explore. We would really like to return someday.

We had a wonderful four-night stay on the isle of Eigg, and we really can't recommend it highly enough. The island is beautiful, peaceful, and very friendly, and Tamsin and Stu's apartment is the perfect place to stay. It's warm and cosy, very homely, spacious, well equipped, and with wonderful views from both aspects. The location is ideal - under half an hour from the harbour and shop at one end of the island, and approximately an hour or ninety minutes from the gorgeous beaches at the other end. Tamsin and Stu really couldn't have been more friendly and helpful - meeting us off the ferry, transporting our luggage when it was time to go, popping in to make sure all was well. We felt right at home and were sorry to leave!

The Glebe Barn Apartment was an excellent accommodation. We were met at the ferry by our host and driven to the apartment. A very warm welcome and the apartment was in a stunning location. Exactly as described, in beautiful condition. We have already told many of our friends who are keen to visit the Isle of Eigg about the Glebe Barn apartment. We would definitely return.

The Glebe barn was exactly as pictured, if not better. It has stunning views and a comfortable, fully equipped apartment. There's also plenty to do on Eigg, and bicycles definitely help with getting around. Would love to go back some day!

This place is a portion of paradise on Eigg. The caravan offered everything we could have wished for and was especially cosy with the wood burner. Regardless of the weather, it was always bright and exciting to watch the ever- changing views on the Isle of Rùm. Jacqueline was a fantastic host. Thank you for everything =) P.S. we stayed for a couple of days in this beautifull away from everything place. The caravan is really comfy, and the view is stunning. Everything the add promises ;) Jacqueline was really helpfull, she works at the shop so you can reach her there. The road to the caravan climbs and descents pretty hefty, so you are in for a nice bike ride... Walk on the rocks on the right side of the beach at low tide. It recuires a bit of scambling (fun) and you'll see some great formations and pools. I couldnt stay away from the beach in the evening because of the sunsets. Absolutely do stay here.

The caravan is fantastic, it has everything you need, is peaceful and relaxing and has the best view on Eigg! Jacqueline was a great host, she sent us information before our arrival and was quick to respond to messages.

We had a wonderful stay at Jacqueline's caravan on the lovely island of eigg. The location is incredible with spectacular views across to rum. The caravan was very comfortable for two people and bigger than we had expected. We had been a bit apprehensive about not having electricity but this was not an issue at all - the caravan has a fridge, cooker and hob. It was lovely to sit in at night with the log fire and candlelight. Can't recommend the caravan enough for a relaxing break in beautiful surroundings. Thanks, Jillian and ryan

Wow, what an amazing place to stay on a wonderfull island! Jacqueline and Ewen created a cosy place to relax, re-energize and enjoy nature close. Of the grid, but not deserted. It's really beautiful to have the sea this close and see the weather change. From the caravan you can explore the island and meet the lovely people on Eigg.

We had a really amazing time on Eigg staying in Jacqueline's caravan. The caravan is in an absolutely amazing location on Laig Bay which is great for swimming and chilling and also has great views across to Rum. Possibly the best caravan location in the world!! Only downside was that the caravan had a leak in the roof when it rained very hard, but it really didn't impinge on the enjoyment of our stay. Will definitely make efforts to come back and stay here in the future.

My stay at the caravan could honestly not having been better. The location is utterly stunning, Jacqueline was a friendly and helpful host, and everything was comfortable and cosy. The view is so great that I stayed up the entirety of my first night just watching the sun set and rise again! The bed is comfortable, the kitchen has everything you could need to make proper meals, and there was even a hot water bottle to use on chilly nights. Lots of wood for the stove meant I stayed warm the whole time, and I was surprised at how good the shower was! There are endless hills and a beautiful shoreline to explore. I'm already planning my return.

The yurt is brilliant - really homely and has everything you need. Sue and Neil are great hosts. I felt very welcome and they're really efficient and approachable. The island is wonderful and I had an amazing week there. It's a very special place and I would highly recommend both the island and the yurt. Thanks Sue!

We had an amazing stay with Sue and Neil on their croft. It's a very special spot with amazing views out across to Rum and up to the ridge that runs up the island. We loved staying here and hope to come back some day.

Lovely yurt, my friend and I did have a great time on the island.

I wanted to go camping but that was vetoed early on by my wife. This was our compromise, and it really has been a great balance of the "outdoorsy feel" of camping with the space, comfort and convenience of having a whole apartment to ourselves. The views are great (although that's not difficult on Eigg!) and both Sue and Neil were very happy to tell us about life on Eigg and the work they do on their farm. We appreciated being picked up from the ferry, and although it is a fair track down the road back to the ferry terminal, shop & (excellent) cafe/pub/restaurant, we found it easy to hitch a lift (especially around the times that the ferry comes in). The tent isn't completely sealed so be prepared to wake up with some bugs around. Our only gripe was that the sofabed was a little thin and not particularly comfy, but we usually managed to tire ourselves out sufficiently during the day that getting to sleep wasn't a problem!

Had a really peaceful time at the Yurt on Eigg. The view was amazing and the yurt really comfortable. It was lovely to wake up to the peace and quiet and look across to Rhum. Sue and Neil were really helpful with shopping etc.. It was good to be able to ask for anything we needed but at the same time have peace and quiet to get on with things. We loved the chickens and the dogs around too. Eigg is a really great place to go away and experience something different when you live in the city - we also loved that everything is self sufficient and eco-friendly too.

Welcomed at the pier, we discovered the yourte like described on the website. Unlucky with the weather but we spent time in the yourte waiting for sunshine. A lot of things to do on the island, buy food before arriving, wear waterproof shoes and you'll enjoy eigg island. good wifi inside the yourte, no food available (eggs or vegetables) when we were there.

We had a lovely stay with Sue in the yurt. It was warm, clean and welcoming. The island is beautiful and the yurt is equipped with all you could need for a pleasant camping experience including little extras like hot water bottles. With the stove burning these were not needed though. The views from the yurt were stunning and it's a short walk to the beautiful beach. Sue sold us lovely fresh eggs from the chickens, who also act as your nosey neighbours, clucking about the yurt, peeking in, and adding to the wonderful experience of being away from it all. I can safely say that I have never washed dishes at a sink with a better view in my life. Sue met us from the ferry and dropped us back there the next day. She was friendly and relaxed and we felt instantly comfortable and welcomed. The little shop and cafe are well stocked and there is plenty explore on Eigg, including wonderful coastline, caves and beaches. The island and the host come highly recommended. We hope to return soon

We loved our stay and only wished it had been for longer! The Yurt is equipped with everything you could need for a comfortable stay, and you can get fresh eggs from the friendly hens for your breakfast and the community shop on the island is right by the ferry port and we walked there in just over an hour and 15 mins (but you can pick things up when you arrive). I'm definitely taking some inspiration home with me from the way of life Sue and her family have, it's a wonderful place to be. Thanks so much for a very friendly, relaxed visit.

We had such a fantastic holiday on the Isle of Eigg. Lucy and Eddie were so welcoming and picked us up when we arrived by boat. We were invited into their house when we came up with a nice cup of tea. They had even prepared with organic vegetables that we had ordered from the farm next door. Everything was beautiful and the cottage was fully equipped with everything we needed and more. The cottage felt incredibly clean and everything was well organized. We were a bit worried before of how it would work with the solar panels and so on - but there was no reason for it. Everything works almost exactly like a standard cabin. This cottage is not primitive at all - it is luxury at its best. To wake up and see the mountain and ferns outside and breathe fresh air. Start the day with a fire in the stove and a coffee overlooking the ocean and then embark on adventurous hikes. Lucy and Eddie made sure we had it good during the whole stay and we felt welcome to come down to their house and ask things anytime. They also offered several times a ride down to the port where the shop and restaurant is - which felt much appreciated as it is a long way to go all the way back and forth. The cottage location is absolutely perfect. It really is exactly here you want to be. Between the mountain and the beach "Singing Sands". With the proximity to the village and the community. Extra plus for the library in the cabin that had everything we wanted to read. Poetry, philosophy, nature books, history and maps. All the books about Eigg made the stay even more special and we really understood that people here love their island very much. Our own love story with Eigg began here - and we can hardly wait until we get to come back again.

Enchanting. We stayed a week, but could have easily stayed longer. It was a very memorable bothy and location. It's hard to describe quite how special it is.

Our stay was wonderful! Pick-up on arrival and the bikes we rented were brought to the Bothy so we could make our way around the island easily. The Bothy was everything we expected and more, tucked away, so very private and a great view of the sea. We could totally relax and enjoy the quietness and beautiful surroundings. The Bothy itself had everything you needed, giving you the "rugged" cabin feeling, but with electricity and running water. I loved the little library and outdoor shower! Definitely coming back and staying longer (really 3 nights is a minimum for this wonderful island). Eigg itself was so divers. You can hike, swim, bike etc. It has a mountain, hills and beache, we did not expect so much from such a "small" place.

A perfect few days in this thoughtfully designed and wonderfully located bothy with the hills behind and the bay in front. Lucy and Eddie were great hosts; generous, helpful and unobtrusive so that we could feel both remote and connected. Sunny days made it far too easy, so we're planning to return as soon as the weather worsens and we can light that stove!

Lucy and Eddie are wonderful hosts at Sweeney's and share the spirit of the small island of Eigg and its community of a 100 people. Similar to previous reviews, we had a lovely time and thoroughly enjoyed the idyllic landscapes that the bothy opens out into. The view from the elevated bed in the bothy are quite remarkable at night. The fireplace, provision for cooking your own food, an outdoor shower and a very cozy room in fact can dissuade you from leaving the bothy. The neighbourhood is quiet and allows for a good amount of walking and experiencing the quaintness of the island. If you are lucky you might just get invited to a party that occasionally takes place on the island (we missed one by a few hours!) that brings everybody on together. The island has a remarkable history that you can read about in the "story of eigg", ensconced in the tiny library tucked away in the bothy. Definitely a place that we will consider visiting again.

Sweeney's Bothy is simply beautiful. We were met at the pier by Eddie and driven across the island to the secluded bothy where Lucy showed us round. We spent the best part of 5 days forgetting the need for time, going on adventures and meeting the wonderfully friendly locals who we shared many a cup of tea with and numerous cans of lager! In the bothy itself we really got back to basics, chopping wood, making fires and cooking on our wood fired stove. Eigg is a way of life and we stepped in to it both feet first. I can highly recommend taking some time out, disappearing to Eigg and letting Lucy and Eddie's bothy capture your heart.

The caravan is absolutely lovely. It is well equipped with cooking utensils and essentials (oil, spices) for the gas hob, and the bed is unbelievably comfortable. Aildih and Faolan (her dog) are the most wonderful hosts you could hope for - accessible, easy going, and a lot of fun. To top it all off, you´ve got some of the most spectacular views out into the Bay of Laig and out across to the Isle of Rùm, which are intensified all the more at sunset.Whether you´re visiting for the amazing hikes, or simply to laze about and read, Aildih and all the delightful people of Eigg will welcome you onto the island like no other community.

oh my god what a stay! we had such a wonderful time on Eigg, Ailidh was lovely and so were everyone we met! The caravan is charming and really cosy! And we were lucky with the weather! The views are stunning, it was an amazing experience! I strongly recommend it! I really hope to be returning there someday!

We had a fabulous holiday. Ailidh greeted us off the ferry and made us very welcome at her home. Nothing was too much trouble and we were very comfortable in the caravan. Very comfy bed and spectacular views.

Ailidh's caravan is super cute and cozy! We loved staying there, it's really nicely decorated and has a heater to keep it warm at night, she also has a good book collection and enough kitchenware to prepare some food and have a nice cuppa. Fulan her dog is lovely too. :-) The shower is so nice and the couch outside her house has an amazing view. The caravan is behind her house which I think it's good because it can be very windy in the island. So Ailidh, her daughter and her dog were all very welcoming and made us feel right at home. However, people above (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)") might find it a bit uncomfortable. My husband was able to stand up straight without shoes. And the bed is really comfy but not great for tall people. My hubby and me were fine in the caravan and loved it, but I am not tall. So we fit in very well. So, just to let tall people know. Thanks again for everything Ailidh!! :-)

We had a wonderful stay on Eigg. We really liked the location of the caravan by Laig Bay and the advice from Ailidh on nearby walks was great (we particularly enjoyed taking the dog with us!). The caravan is cosy and cute with all the equipment you need to cook simple meals. Ailidh is a very friendly and welcoming host :) We would love to stay here again on another visit.

The caravan was in a great location, really close to the beach and surrounding cliffs. Inside the caravan was perfectly snug, and the bed was AMAZING!!! Everything we needed for cooking basic meals was provided and Ailidh kindly let us use her fridge inside as the caravan didn't have one. Our only slight comment was that the lack of curtains meant that a lot of the heat escaped quite quickly (we couldn't use the heater as the island generator was low), but we overcame this by using various things to improvise "curtains" and drinking plenty of tea to keep warm! We managed to resist connecting to the Wifi all weekend which was actually quite refreshing and gave us time to take in the views and enjoy being away from it all. Note to the next guests - take a pack of cards, we forgot to!

Loved staying in Ailidh's wee cracker van! Sits right above the lovely Laig bay, incredible sunsets and views. The van is compact and a bit of a squeeze for 2 people with lugguage, but it is cosy and warm, and did us just fine. Ailidh is a fab host and so accommodating. Thanks for letting me get my daily doggy fix by borrowing Fulan! I'll definitely be back ☺

Beautiful location, quiet, very close to ferry for Isle of Mull. Needs a little TLC but overall a nice place, and spacious for families.

We loved our stay at this cottage. it is in a remote part of Scotland and is quiet and quaint. We were surprised to find a pub a quick walk away and the food there was delicious. I would highly recommend it. Walks from the cottage brought us to beautiful views of sheep grazing and the ocean and mountains surrounding all of it. The stay here was the highlight of our entire trip.

The cottage is really very nice indeed - super comfortable. Especially if you are tall - the sofas were long enough to stretch out. I was a bit sceptical that the electric radiators would heat the whole room but we were really very cosy. The open fire during a howling gale was just great. Great location in a remote spot with fantastic landscape and beaches. Only downside (for coffee lovers) there was no coffee maker or cafetiere leaving us to improvise with kitchen paper

The cottage is very charming and welcoming. Perfect to discover a corner of the beautiful Scotland.

Love the area accomodation was perfect everything was available there didn't gave us a feel that it's rented place everything was like a home been stayed in many different places but this was best ever experience. Kicohan is top in the lust if someone want to see nature in its original condition sanna bay was a beautiful beach ever visited seems to be untouched. Enjoyed a lot highly recommended area and Morden cottage to the one who want to go somewhere far from today's noisy life. Will visit again in summer. Only thing is no internet there available in the area but not in the house so it's better if this can be arranged there.

All was as described a nice cottage in a quiet remote area. Scenery was stunning midge were not but as expected in that area. Overall an enjoyable time was had by all

Two of us had the house in December for us. The spacious area was cooled by - A Seasons problem. The unfortunately musty smelling towels and sheets are believed to lead it back. In summer it is determined nice here - especially for large families.

A wonderful place. Location is amazing of course, but also a very spacious room with wifi, TV, sofa, breakfast area, toaster, kettle and mini-fridge, comfortable bed, great shower and a drying room downstairs. Katie and her family were most welcoming and she was kind enough to provide me with a cafetiere and a loaf of home-made bread. I could not have asked for more. Well, it would be ideal if she could ensure it does not rain so much next time I'm in Ardnamurchan but, if this is not possible, I do understand.

Stayed three nights at Katie's, wish we could have stayed longer! The Isle of mull is a must see! Katie is a lovely host, with great hospitality, and her place is minutes from the ferry to the Isle of mull. I will be coming back!

Katie was a perfect host and made our impromptu trip to the Highlands ever more enjoyable. The room was spacious and clean with many unexpected amenities (due to my quick run through of the online description beforehand). I felt really safe and comfortable at every point in the town and the cottage itself. It was easy to find and, with a warm welcome, Katie was great about getting us into the rooms to rest after a long journey. She even gave us a second room upon our late arrival so the third member of our group did not have to sleep on the couch. The absolute cherry on top was getting fresh, homemade bread in the morning with butter and jam. Katie also gave us advice about the ferries to Mull and then Oban that led to such a fun adventure and saved hours of travel time. I would definitely recommend this listing and stay here again myself next time I'm in Ardnamurchan!

This was a great place for us to stay as the location is fantastic with amazing walks, landscapes, beaches, woodlands and seascapes everywhere. Perfect for us and our dogs! Lots of dog-friendly pubs around too. With only three caravans and a cottage on site, it was quiet and peaceful. The caravan had everything we needed for our stay and was comfortable. Sean is a good host, friendly with lots of advice about the locality. Altogether a really nice break.
