We greatly enjoyed our stay at Lavender Cottage. The location is perfect for exploring the Drakensberg region and the view from the terrace into the mountains of the Central Berg is gorgeous. Marelize is a wonderful host and took great care of us.

We had a fantastic three day stay this Easter at Lavender Cottage. While the accommodation was comfortable and adequate, the views of the central Drakensberg and the friendliness of Marelize and Deon were awesome.

Great place! The room was clean and attractive, and there's secure parking. It was very pleasant sitting in the garden watching the birds. I got great advice about local attractions and hiking.

We drove from Durban to the Drakensberg Mtns and needed a stay at a location not far from Nambiti Hills private game reserve. Poppet and her beautiful BnB in winterton were just lovely. We arrived after dinner and all the stores/resturants were closed on a Sunday night. Poppet made is a lovely cheese plate. She even had bottles of wine to buy (at such a reasonable price). Breakfast was delicious and we had a great time lounging in the garden before heading off. I would definitely visit again.

A good B&B with a large garden situated along the road through Winterton, a small village with a good supermarket and 2 restaurants. This place is centrally located to discover the beautiful area. Poppet will hand you a good map with suggestions.

Comfortable bed & breakfast. Host has helpful information about local activities. Friendly host and staff. Tasty homemade muffins and fresh fruit, yogurt, and muesli cocktail with breakfast. Nice coffee as well. Adequate sized room though would have been nice for us to have a bit more space travelling with our baby. Nice hot shower with good pressure. Secure parking.

Brenda was a great host and sent is all the necessary information prior to our arrival. We had the most stunning views and it is a place of peace and tranquility.

My husband and I were visiting with our 1 year old and my parents. We had an excellent few days based here and found it an excellent location for exploring the area, stunning views with wildlife on your doorstep for when you want to relax, well equipped and very comfortable. Hosts were excellent, providing helpful info on the area.

It's a great place with an extra ordinary view and really nice owner. We would come back If we are in the Drakensbergen.

Ah where do I start? Staying here was a pleasure. Brenda and Keren were everything a guest could ask for. Organised, efficient, accommodating and wonderful. The estate was peaceful and beautiful and it was far enough to allow you to switch off but close enough to enough fun things to entertain everyone.

Pictures don't do justice. This place is amazing and Brenda is such a pleasant host. Home is spotless and has everything one would need and more. We shall definitely go back

We felt very welcome. Johlene took the time to inquire about what we wanted to do in the area and give us some advice. The room was nice, up to what we expected. The neighborhood was very quiet, and we enjoyed our stay there.

We spent only one night here in transit to Jhburg from Durban after spending the day doing the Midlands Meander. The bed was comfy, the shower hot, and the parking secure. All exactly what we needed. To people looking to stay longer, there were braai and cooking facilities etc. The room itself is nor huge but the garden is lovely. And Winterton is well placed for touring the Drakensberg I am told.

It was a great experience to stay at Johlene's place. The garden is beautiful and the location is perfect - very close to some nice restaurants and the Drakensberg mountains. The room was spacious and clean. Great place.

I can really recommend Johlenes B&B very much. It is in a nice secure area, the garden is great, she has a lot of separate little houses with rooms, each one has a barbecue and a little terrace. Unfortunately the weather was not too nice (as it was winter) and we couldn't enjoy the garden too much, but in summer it must be great. She was very helpful in giving us information and finding our way. The room was very nice as well with a huge double bed, a nice bathroom and a very strong heather for the cold days - definitely a good deal for the price. It had a television, just the internet was a little bit slow in the room (but we were also far away from her house). In some other rooms it might work better. If you are in Winterton, definitely go to Johlenes place!

Hi the cottage was exactly as in the pictures. Unfortunately Johlene was there to welcome us but had a friend open and left us a bottle of wine to enjoy.

Once we got the full address and found the place it was a quiet secure stay. Wifi signal was too weak in the cottage we stayed in but Johlene showed us the strong signal area by her vehicle and invited us to use her desktop as required.

Very nice chalet situated at a river. Great for visiting Monks Cowl.

We're not keen on hotel/resorts so this place was ideal for us. Set in a tranquil environment surrounded by nature, this is a comfortable & well equipped cottage with breath taking views of the hills with the mountains peaking through the tree lines to the left. We were a family of 4 + dog and warmly welcomed by the hosts & their 2 large but friendly dogs. Janet & Ernie were both helpful in making sure our 3 nights stay went perfectly. We braaied in the eve and the kids were able to take their bikes out onto the road. Only a short drive to the famous boys choir, a supermarket and lots of other activities you may wish to try. We did the canopy tour which was great fun and hiked in the world heritage site. Travel tip: try to arrive before sunset as there are no lights on any of the country roads, but plenty of animals & humans to avoid!!

The cottage is in a wonderful place. Closest part of Drakensberg Park is at 15 minutes drive. The cottage is authentic and cute. There is a fire place in the living room. Janet and Ernie are welcoming and good hosts. They provided everything we've needed. As we were arriving late, they also kindly went to meet us close to Winterton.

We arrived an hour early and an elderly man allowed us to check in early but was very awkward and made us feel somewhat uncomfortable during our stay. They did let us have extra people which was awesome and the guest house was exactly what we were expecting. We never met Janet once and other than that and the older man making us feel uncomfortable the stay was good.

Janet's place is lovely and very well situated close to the Berg. We enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back.

Spacious and airy, one bedroom apartment located on a farm just outside Winterton with views over a dam and game grazing in the adjacent field. Well equipped and clean. Great for a family base to explore the surrounding Drakensberg and Spion Kop areas.

My wife and I had an fantastic stay at Mel's cottage. The house was very neat and clean. Meryl was extremely helpful and upon request assisted in providing us all the braai facilities and equipment we needed. We were even welcomed with fresh flowers in the rooms. The rooms are well equipped to easily house a family of 5. From the window of the room we could even see some animals (Gazelle, Blue Wildebeest, Zebra, etc.) Really enjoyed Meryl's lively Jack Russel, Mielie. The most friendly dog you will ever meet. Thanks again. Highly recommended.
