Historic Site
“The Castle of Vezio has been standing for a more than a thousand years at the centre of Lake Como, on a cliff overlooking Varenna. It is an ancient military outpost of early medieval origin built by the Lombard Queen Theodelinda to defend and control the lake and surrounding villages. The castle is situated in a militarily and commercially strategic location which dominates the entire centre of Lake Como and which is why it has been inhabited since the Iron Age. It was associated in the past with the town of Varenna and connected to it by two long walls that once surrounded it up to the lake shore, protecting the village and its people during the frequent wars and looting that shook the area during the Middle Ages. Partially restored in the mid-twentieth century, the castle today includes a lookout tower with a square base, accessible through a small drawbridge and visitable up to the summit, surrounded by quadrangular walls with partial angular tower. Surrounded by one of northernmost olive groves in the world thanks to the effects of temperature of the lake’s waters, the Castle, which normally can be visited from March to November, hosts temporary art exhibitions of various kinds in the garden and, within the tower, a permanent exhibition on Lariosaurus, a prehistoric marine reptile that came to light for the first time in the world a few hundred meters from the Castle.  you can reach the Castle walking along Sentiero del Viandante or climbing up from Varenna.”

Entering into the abbey you can visit, the Church, the Cloister and the Chapter House. Inside of the building that houses the products of the Piona monks, we can find medicinal herbs, honey and the famous liquors wisely distilled according to the most ancient traditions, all natural products made by the hard-working monks.”

Amusement Park
“The park is made up of five paths with different difficulty levels (Civenna has 5, Margno has 4). The difficulty is based on the height of the trees and by the type of obstacles that connect one tree to the next. After being equipped with harness and helmet, under our staff supervision, you will be brought to the Briefing area, where you will be given a demo and where you can get comfortable with our four demo walkways. Now you’re ready for some adventure! You will then perform the walkways on your own, supervised by our instructors from underneath.”

“Bellagio is regarded as one of the most beautiful and idyllic towns on Lake Como and it is easy to see why. This town can be found where the three arms of Lake Como meet therefore the views are unrivalled – you can see each corner of the vast lake and the promenade at La Punta provides one of the best photographic opportunities in the area. Within the town itself you can find a variety of high-end shops, several beautifully maintained gardens and some amazing restaurants. Consider taking a boat trip to Bellagio, walking along the promenades and admiring this picture-perfect place.”

“in Bellagio, off the beaten track is a splendid, quiet authentic little quarter: Piazza San Giovanni. Here is an exquisite, local fisherman family run restaurant---he and his faithful dog. 'Ice' were featured in a Netflix seried called Dogs (episode 'Ice'; worth the watch to see this part of the lake in the wintertime).”

“To try: Brasato di Cinghiale Selvatico (Braised Wild Boar). Hikers who venture into the wooded hills surrounding Lake Como are warned to keep watch for wild boars. Diners also look for boar that is served braised or in a stew. Wild boar is a favorite in autumn, but it appears on menus in other seasons. Often it is marinated in wine and served with fresh local vegetables. Trattoria Baita Belvedere in Bellagio serves wild boar in a variety of styles, including as a stew. You'll also enjoy panoramic views of Bellagio and the lake.”
