Really great place to stay! The bus was lovely and cosy and a great place to base ourselves for walking and cycling. The surrounding countryside is stunning. A very relaxed trip, Ian was great and picked up/dropped me and my son to and from the train station, even giving us some freshly caught mackerel to cook for our supper on the fire! Would definitely recommend the mega bus for a relaxing break away.

Charming and cosy converted bus with beautiful scenery and friendly, helpful hosts. We were greeted by Ian straight away and found the bus supplied with a range of fresh food, and the fire laid. The location was idyllic, and particularly beautiful in spring; it felt private, but still just a short walk (2 miles) into Tavistock which is a lovely town to explore. It is also situated near Dartmoor Zoo, the inspiration for the film We Bought a Zoo. We cannot recommend this place enough, we will definitely be coming back!

What a find! Stunning views, comfortable bed. An anecdote to city life and technology addiction. Atmospheric lights, good stereo and a stocked kitchen which was more manageable than on first impressions. We had a nice cooked breakfast and great views. Power shower was amazing.

The bus is great; well equipped, comfortable and in such a idyllic spot; we loved watching the sunsets through the huge window, cooking on the outside fire pit, listening to the sheep bleating and the birds singing. An easy hop in the car to Dartmoor and the perfect place to get away from the city. We miss it already!

The bus was fantastic and had everything we could need, its been lovingly kitted out and we had a great morning relaxing and eating breakfast, we would definitely have used the fire pit if we'd stayed longer. The location was also great and the lambs were very friendly! Ian was incredibly helpful and came to meet us on the road with a torch as we arrived late, he even gave us some things for breakfast including eggs from their own hens. Have already recommended to friends and would love to stay again!

Absolutely incredible ! Great location , great accommodation and great hosts. Could not have asked for anything more, did not want to leave ! The location is perfect, all you can hear is the birds singing and the occasional cow mooing. Can watch the birds swooping and building nest from the comfort of the bed on the bus. Could not have asked for more of a perfect holiday. Ian and sarah were great with communication and were happy to chat about the surrounding areas!

Great place !!! Clean and everything you need. We were allowed to stay longer because the next guests arrived only a day later and so we made a nice long walk around (along the water).

A fantastic location and a perfect host. I would highly recommend visiting Julian in Calstock, a small, quiet village but with stunning views of the Tamar river and a lovely old school pub called the old boot. The downstairs area which is what you will be renting is very homely, with everything you could wish for to cook, shower, whatever, provided. We loved our stay and would happily, and very probably visit again in the future. Thank you Julian for providing us with small things like bread and milk, I've not experienced that before in self catering accommodation and it was much appreciated.

Nice apartment with super nice view! Equipped with all the comforts. The tip of Julian: dinner at the tamar inn (local pub) was delicious. Nice pub to live. Also Coletele house wad a tip of Julian! Very nice to visit!

Lovely, cozy and spacious flat with wonderful spot on the river. The flat is beautiful, well-furnished with everything we need. For cooking, everything is provided in the kitchen, if not, you can get some from Julian. Good for family who want to cook themselves---My mom really recommended it because of the really sharp knife :) Julian is a friendly and welcoming host. He recommended us a lot of place to go, the driving route through the Dartmoor National Park and the Cotehele run by the National trust are beautiful and worth seeing. We will definitely recommend it.

Definitely going back soon. A wonderful comfortable apartment with glorious views, so peaceful. Loved the objects and textiles from Bali and India, which made it different from the norm. A place to escape, and conveniences close by. We particularly liked the privacy where you can come and go at any time of the day - and thank you, Justin, (a lovely host) for not throwing us out at a specific time, on a Sunday.

Julian was a perfect host – he very kindly met us at the station when we arrived, and was on hand to help with anything we needed. The accommodation was everything we expected and more, with a fantastic view of the river and the Tamar bridge. The flat was well stocked with basics such as teas, coffees etc. but Julian also provided fresh bread, milk, eggs and his own homemade marmalade for our arrival (definitely recommended!). It's a very relaxing and comfortable space – awaking with a view of the Tamar is lovely, and those who look closely may even see otters swimming in the river! We were visiting the area as part of a research project, and Julian was on hand to help. His local knowledge was invaluable and his generous support really made our trip much more enjoyable.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay here. Julian was a friendly, accommodating host. The rooms were comfortable, clean, smelt amazing and we were given lots of tasty treats for breakfast. The location is stunning and the view from the bed was worth the trip. I can't recommend this place enough.

We had a lovely stay here at Brentor. The hosts made us feel very welcome. The area was perfect for exploring, lots of nice walks and views. The hosts suggested many dog friendly pubs which we had dinner at, and these were also great. We were provided with all the essentials for breakfast and they even went out of their way to make homemade bread and jam for us! The annex was perfect for us, the right size and had everything we needed. Thank you for having us, we would most certainly return.

Debbie was an excellent host who even accommodated our difficult arrival time. The place was lovely and clean and her friendly dog Wanda greeted us when we arrived! Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area :)

A lovely warm welcome to this cosy eden on the edge of Dartmoor. Such a pretty cottage in an idyllic valley. The directions took us straight to the door. Debbie welcomed us with tea and biscuits on a damp and misty evening. The cottage was just perfect for our requirements. The beds are extremely comfortable. We had the amenities of Tavistock, markets, supermarkets and the chippy were used by us and just a short drive away. The lack of phone reception was great, we felt free to relax in the surrounding peace. The productive cottage garden was a picture and we spent a lot of time watching the wildlife out of the window, fox, deer and many birds. Should we have needed the washing machine or dvd telly then it was there for us to use but we enjoyed quiet games of scrabble and a chilled glass of wine. Nearby is the atmospheric Lydford Gorge, a must for visitors. We were made to feel so welcome and that we had found a little haven from the hectic lives we lead.

This is a beautiful house with a magical garden in a lovely village. Susie and Tony were excellent hosts and made us very welcome. The accommodation is separate from the main house, giving privacy and is very comfortable. Food was excellent. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it and we look forward to going back some time.

Peter Tavy Lodge is a wonderful place to stay. Susie and Tony are very generous hosts and assist you in any way they can. I do recommend making sure of the directions before you leave as we did have a bit of difficulty finding the place.

Loved our stay in Holly Cottage. It's really more spacious than the photos allow for. The three bedrooms are all beautifully equpped with plenty of storage. The en suite has a huge shower and tha bath is a real treat. The kitchen is a lot better than I was expecting with a hob and double eye level oven plus the bonus of a dishwasher that I really wasn't expecting. Again loads of storage space and well equipped with everything you could need. The lounge diner is very big and comfortable with a digital TV and DVD player. Had we realised we would have bought more dvds with us. Although there is a selection of very old movies in the cupboard. I was very aware that we were above another flat so was trying hard not to make too much noise. The location was beautiful and the garden spacious and well equipped. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good enough to make use of it! Would highly recommend the cottage. It's clean spacious and well equipped. There aren't any original features but it's is confirtable and lovely and warm. Thank you Michelle.

Michelle's place is in a great location; very near to Dartmoor for walking and outdoor life but also near to Tavistock with all its facilities. It was a great stay with a dog as a lot of provision had been made for dog owners. I had not appreciated the cottage was part of a caravan/camping complex but the site is very quiet, on the edge of the moors and the cottages are very private with their own gardens, which again is great with a dog.

This is a lovely small flat in the centre of Tavistock. Its a great choice for those travelling with children.

Great location in centre of town, however very quiet, spacious and light filled, very comfortable. Only issue was no spare loo paper and blown light bulbs with no spares.

Deb's apartment is located on the fourth floor of a modern building just off the main street in Tavistock. It is a bright and shiny flat that looks as if it less than a year old. It is well furnished with a large living room, splendid bed and excellent shower. There is a wide variety of shops and stores on the half-mile main street, including a couple of well-stocked Coop supermarkets within five minutes. There are a number of restaurant choices, including the Birds Nest Chinese Restaurant directly across the street. Tavistock is well located for exploring the moors and open spaces of central Devon. Those who are looking for a town filled with souvenir shops and glitzy restaurants would be better off on the coast. But the virtue of Tavistock is that it has retained the authenticity of an English town without being overrun by hordes of tourists. Deb is an enthusiastic and well organized host, who makes your stay very simple and very pleasant. Highly recommended.

Lovely and Secluded place! Great for a break from the busyness and madness of city life. You will need a car to get here and the satnav post code will not get you to the exact location. The instructions given by Maddy and the signposts will get you there. The apartment itself was perfect for the 4 of us and the kitchen was well stocked with pots and pans. We stayed in the Old Cottage at Kigbeare Manor, a little paradise. All was well arranged and Maddy and Phil made us feel very welcome. The estate is a 10 minutes drive from Okehampton. There are several art studios and a gallery with beautiful artworks, to admire or buy. We had a little chat with one of the makers, that was very interesting. In the surrounding woodlands, you can go for a walk along the river. Be sure to bring your Wellies! There's a beautiful courtyard, an orchard and a vegetable garden. A quiet, peaceful place to be. We used it as a base to visit several places in Devon and Cornwall. In spite of the heavy rainfall we had a smashing time at Kigbeare.

Great little apartment with everything you need. In a secluded pretty spot (take your wellies to walk the grounds) but a close drive to Okehampton and all amenities. Great water pressure in the shower and super comfortable bed ! The lovely homemade jam and grocery items were a lovely touch.

Quiet and secluded place. Lots of wildlife (Deer, Birds etc) albeit too much rain when I went! There are studios for potters, smiths and artisan soap makers. Ideal for golfers as there are several courses nearby. Coffee, milk, tea, sugar and biscuits supplied; fully equipped home. Only downside is the one-way main track upto the house which is not very wide (not ideal for a big car!).There is an alternative route through the golf course, albeit longer. Great hospitality.

This is a recent renovation we had a very pleasant weekend stay. It is located on the moor itself, so scenic walks began at the front gate (no need to drive). Tavistock is a short drive away and is a good option for sightseeing, groceries and dining out.

We had a wonderful stay in Sheila's barn. The setting is fantastic, in the middle of the moors and the home is stylish,clean and adorable. Sheila is a wonderful host, quirky and excentric in the best possible way. We will hopefully have the chance to go back there again at sometime and would recommend this place to anyone.

We were made to feel very welcome from the outset and the children took to the host's warmth and friendliness immediately. The barn is a recent build which is tastefully decorated; the wood burner giving it a cosy feel. It is perfect for couples but also suitable for a family of four. The barn is situated in open moors (which can be quite windy) overlooking breathtaking views and is both remote and secluded, although there is easy access to nearby market towns and amenities. There are plenty of walks / cycle rides from your door step with lots of prehistoric stone circles, settlements and ancient woodlands to explore. This was our first Airbnb booking and we couldn't have had a better experience.

We had a lovely stay at the barn. The barn is in a fantastic location and everything was beautifully designed. We lit the woodfire after a day of rain and were very cozy indeed! And we really liked the cake, thanks :)

Comfortable lodgings in restful and quiet location. Well suited after a busy day's travelling. Pity we didn't have time to explore Okehampton as the lodgings are well plaved for walking to the town. Good position for exploring Dartmoor.

You can't argue with a Victoria Sponge welcome! The annex was perfect for our stay - extremely homely and comfortable with everything we needed. Jo was keen to make sure we had settled in OK and gave us plenty of recommendations for places to eat and drink. We would highly recommend staying in this lovely studio and if we're ever back in the area we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Mandy's place is beautiful, clean and equipped with everything we needed for our stay. Mandy was welcoming and not at all intrusive during our stay. We had everything we needed and being above the (quietest ever) pub was actually great for convenience. It was an added bonus to have cereal and tea/ coffee making facilities ready for us after a long/ late journey. The village is beautiful and you can even see the church from the skylight. Just wish we could have stayed longer! Would thoroughly recommend!

We had a great stay in the Golden Hind - our host Mandy was lovely. The apartment is perfect for a holiday in Dartmoor, two large double bedrooms, big bathroom, and an open-plan lounge/dining room/kitchen area so we could cook our own food easily. The village provides an easy gateway into Dartmoor, and you can also get to the coast quite quickly as well. We'd happily recommend the apartment and would stay there again for sure.

This is a really lovely, beautifully set up flat in a pretty village on the edge of Dartmoor. Some nice walks without having to drive, too. It's right above the village pub - handy for meals etc, but it's still pretty quiet and we weren't bothered by any noise. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming – highly recommended!

Mandy has a really beautiful flat - very nicely done out, sooper clean, comfy beds, good bed linen. Everyone we spoke to was really helpful and its a lovely village close to the moors. It is above a pub if you fancy food or drink. If you like going to be at 10 and your a light sleeper - you might find the conversations the local pub goers have under your window a bit annoying. But its not a rowdy pub - they were very nice conversations (!) and everything was quite from 12. I'd recommend it. Thank you Mandy and staff for a lovely stay.

It is a bit secluded, but it is also centrally located for the many attractions in the area. It is above a pub, but the noise was never a big issue. The apartment have been beautifully remodeled; blending the rustic timbers with all the modern the amenities! The lighting especially has been wonderfully appointed. We would definitely look at staying here again!

Tracey's house and annexe are like a gem hidden in the countryside and even if it's quite hard to find it is worth the journey. The annexe is well equiped and really comfortable. We were happy to spend a quiet night at her house.

This is a cosy little attic apartment with a comfortable bed and lovely views over the river that you can enjoy while you sit and eat your breakfast. Its a bit too small for visitors, as the attic ceilings come down pretty low, but it was lovely just for us!

What a lovely spot to spend a night! We found the apartment clean, warm and homely when we arrived. We let ourselves in on arrival and there was even a handy pint of milk in the fridge for us! We only had a short time to spend in Calstock for a family occasion so we were happy knowing we could come and go as we pleased and although Sue the host left us to it, we felt if there had been anything we needed she would have been only too happy to have helped. It was a lovely place and we'd like to stay again sometime.
