It was cosy to sit in front of our room in the middle of the home. Wifi was always top. The breakfast was amazing! It is the best place to see Malang, especially the kampongs in the neigbourhood. It was a great stay and I can reall recommend this place! The whole family is really nice and helpful and made my stay there just perfect! Myself and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our stay with Yhosie and her family. Right from the start she helped us and gave us some incredible advise on how to enjoy surrounding areas to the best we could. If you want to hire mopeds or go on a Bromo tour yhosie can help you organise it. Her family are very lovely and the breakfast was not only large but tasted great. Room was also lovely and had great decor. Would definitely stay again.

We havent met Regina in person, but her relative Bianca gave us warm welcome and she was super nice and helpful with arranging our trip to Bromo. She was always available on her phone with quick response on everything we needed. So definately recommend this place.

Regita, Bianca and Lucy were great hosts to us. We did our booking in last minute and we could check in much earlier before the check-in time. We could also extend our stay. We had our privacy and still could communicate with Bianca anytime we needed. She helped us to arrange a tour and took great care for us in general. This homestay is perfectly situated in the middle of the city center. You can do great walks through residential small streets to get to know the peaceful city life of Malang (lots of interestings mosqus and colorful houses to see). There are blue little vans as public transport in super short walking distance (from / to train station as well) for (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) IDR (depends where you go). Lots of restaurants / laundry shops / mini markets around also Megamarket ans shopping mall 20/ 30 minutes walk away. The house situated in a super quiet and peaceful street. You have lots of privacy as the rooms are upstairs and the family lives downstairs. There is a nice sitting area and even a little balcony - We really loved that! The family was super nice, easy-going, very warm-hearted and welcoming. The breakfast was great as they adjusted to special wishes and even one evening they cooked some dinner for us. Amazing, Lucy is a great cook :) Thank you Bianca, TJ and Lucy for your warm hospitality and Regita for the communication (even we never met in person :)).

I can really recommend this place. The whole family is really nice, helpful and funny! They speak english,which makes the communication very easy. The best thing about my stay there was having delicious dinner with the family on the Independence Day!

The host is amazing, really helpful and kind. He really does go the extra mile out for us. The only downside is that the place has no hot water shower but it could easily be solved with cooking some hot water. This is a value for money place, nothing fancy, really basic with good and helpful host and simple night stay

Mini's place is fantastic. Clean, minimalist and cute! Very clean place where you feel like it's home, especially with the adorable two little cats. Peacefull place to relax, read, listen to Mini playing the guitar. It's a little paradise you don't want to miss! They always make sure everything is good and you are enjoying!

It was really nice! When we arrived he already expected us on the way...we even could rent a motorcycle from him. We could ask him anything and he stayed awake when we started our tour to bromo at 2am. It is simple but absolutely fine for one night! He even brought us tea in the morning, in generell he was very polite and kind! By foot it is a 30-40min walk from Malang station to his home.

It's a small room, but enough for 2 people, one has to sleep on an inflated matress. No AC or fan, but Malang is cold enough, so thats no problem. Also no moskito-net. The bathroom uses the indonesian (cold water) shower system, but with a western toilet. The house itself is quite nice and in a gated area. Very quiet (except for the muezzin, but that is of course normal). The Host is very helpfull. If you ask him anything, he will help. He also rented us a motorbike (80.000/day).

Mas Wawan was very nice. The house was super lovely. If you like to experience the old vibe of a house, you must come here. Mas Wawan has a very great taste of decorating the house. Oh, I forgot to mention the lighting ambiance. He was the best!

Feels like home.

Anne-Marie was very helpful and gave me detailed information how to find her house. The area is really beautiful, safe and close to centre. The room is separated from main house so it feel like you have your own flat just sharing spacious bathroom with another guest if present. Anna-Mare prepared delicious French breakfast for me and I had amazing time talking to her family about life and history of Java. I truly enjoyed my stay there and if I am ever in Malang again I would chose the same warm cosy Anne-Marie's house.

what a great time with anne marie and her partner. it was so easy to discuss and explore ideas. we are adventurers who love culture, people and travelling. i will start preparing for anne marie's guided tour to the indus in pakistan. her partner leads tours in indonesia so both are full of knowledge and willing to share. its an easy place to get to by local minibus too. the room is good with lots of privacy. you feel at home with them. merci.

A beautiful home, a nice house in a quiet neighborhood not far from downtown, a comfortable room, a good breakfast, a very lovely couple ready to help you for anything, whether malang discover or find transportation to go elsewhere ... what could be better? I just regret not staying longer with Anne Marie and her husband! Thank you very much I spent a great time with you and I hope to return one day.

This is an absolutely perfect choice to stay if you're looking for a private room with calm ambience & decent neighborhood view. Juwana & Anne-Marie were so kind and welcome.

A great place to stay at central of Malang. Its a fully furnished studio apartment, with convinient store at ground floor. The apartement with queen size bed and extra sofa fitted with four of us (2 adults 2 childs). Theres a refrigerator and kitchen set with stove and sink. Its 15km/30m drive away from tourist destination such Jatim Park, Museum Angkut, Batu ect. If you plan to go there, our advice, leave before 9 o'clock, cos threse trafic jam around the day. Overall, we are quite satisfied staying here. Please note, you'll be charge for parking, around IDR.70k/night.

Andi's apartment is near from the local business. So it's not hard to get some food and snacks around. The room is a studio apartment with girly decorations. It's unique and its clean. By my experience, you need to pay parking ticket per hour. Maximum per day is quite cheap is about IDR 10k. But if you stay over night you need to pay about IDR 70k. But Andi is a nice Host. He help us about places that we need to go in malang, he gaves us directions. Anyway overall experience was okay. Anyway thank for everything back in malang. Cheers mate

The only concern for this place is the parking fee –if you bring a car– for one night is Rp 70.000 (around US$ 5.50). Otherwise the location is great to explore Malang.

Mba Ira has been a wonderful, and superbly kind and helpful host. Very communicative and friendly, and through her resourceful right hand (wo)man, ready to help and attend to your needs concerning the accommodation. The house is very clean and neat (and very laid back too!), quite recently renovated but tastefully retains the feel and some of the aesthetics of Indo-Dutch Colonial era houses (oh the olden days), a walk down memory lane for my nan which was visiting along with me. Located quite at the centre of where things are going on in Malang, yet very tranquil. A quick walk away from a used-books market, Pasar Buku Wilis, and good coffee shops. My personal highlight of the trip is the magnificent cookings of the kind house keeper!

A place to remember! It has everything you need. It's perfect house if you need a good location in town and quiet neighborhood. It's 70's architecture house, and very well preserved. It's clean and modern, with peaceful little in-house garden. Ira is warm, speedy and helpful with everything. And Mbak Jum, the housekeeper, is awesome! She doesn't speak English, but you will totally be fine :)

The place is very beautiful, and in accordance with the price I paid. High on this place pretty quickly, and I can catch the signal HP h + when in the room. Cable TV channel HBO broadcast, so I'm very satisfied.

We had a great time at Kertanegara Guest House. It was new and very clean. Great facilities and the staff was very nice! Good location- not too far from the train station. The staff also helped us arrange our trip to Mt. Bromo volcano. It was reasonably priced and very easy to book with them. Thank you for a great stay in Malang!

Room is clean and comfortable. It has hot water that very essential for me. All staff are so friendly and helpful. The laundry price is quite cheap and fast. It located at a strategic street, near cafes and restaurants, souvenirs store, and mall. It also not too far from train station. What i like the most is, it is near ijen street (a street in Malang that has many old and vintage building and houses) so i can explore and capture many (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN)mable pictures.

Very good service from start till finish. The hotel has staff who understand english. Room was satisfactory. Arrangements can be made through the hotel lobby for eg: visiting the safari and/or mt bromo. Or generally just hiring a driver for a day. Drivers dont speak english though so communicate your plan with the receptionists - they will in turn communicate it to the driver. Was an overall comfortable and nice stay. Highly recommend this place.

Very nice villa, super clean and comfortable. Excellent value for the price. It's in the middle of a new residential area that's still being built. Some works nearby but it didn't bother us and otherwise it's very quiet. The only drawback is the location. The villa is in the middle of a network of mazy roads, most of which will close at different hours in the evening. Even the best GPS may well bring you in front of a closed gate, and it's a little difficult to get picked up by Uber or Grab. But the owners live nearby and they will do all they can to help. I'd still warmly recommend to stay there.

Home stay syariah grahadi is nice homestay in malang city. This place is new renovated house with 3 bedrooms. I stay with my wife and 3 kids. They enjoy stay in this house. Near this place there were many restaurants and also near to mosque. I love to stay again if I go to malang city in next time.

This was the best place we stayed in Java. The people are extremely friendly, the atmosphere is really good, it is quite. In one word: awesome. We did not find any complaining - points. It is definitely worth a stay of 2, 3 or more days!!

Oh wow wow wow! My two friends and I were all very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at Kandang Mooong. We never thought that with only 20USD we would be able to book something so close to paradise! Although the place is a little hard to find, the experience you get is definitely worth the small trek you must make. Located in the jungle amid beautiful coffee(?) plantations, Kandang Mooong provides you with comfy mattresses in quaint wooden cabins, a convenient kitchen, showers, and plenty of outdoors activity space. I really enjoyed my time here sitting around and drawing amid nature. Probably the BEST Airbnb I have ever booked - would highly recommend to nature lovers, adventure seekers, and low-budget travelers!

Great stay!

On airbnb there were 5 five star reviews. We have been staying in some rough homestay accommodations for $10 a night in Indonesia but this place... do not stay here unless you're just interested in some quaint Instagram photos. We booked this place, showed up and left after 3 hours because it was so awful. The airbnb reviews were misleading- one woman wrote that it was right next to tumpang market (it's not- that market is a 2 hr walk from this place). The host offered to help book a tour when I booked online. Upon arriving he presented two options but to make a long story short- basically there was only 1 option with him as a guide charging double the going rate in town (I grew suspicious of his inconsistency in behavior so I started calling and texting other tour operators). This is concerning because there are NO LOCKS on the doors so honor code only which, after realizing this guy was trying to rip us off, made me & my husband feel horribly uncomfortable. There is no AC, fine. But no fan either. So if you're looking to do sunrise bromo (tours leave at midnight) that means trying to sleep during the day so good luck in this heat, covered in bugs and surrounded by loud mosques & gravel pit trucks. Look- there is no bug netting so the bed was covered in ants. The bathroom had not been cleaned. The host is a chain smoker who doesn't care if you don't smoke- he'll just keep smoking right next to you. We ate the cost for one night. Which is fine because I wanted to leave a review since all prior reviews were so misleading. We spent an extra $20 and stayed in a nice hotel instead. My husband and I love airbnb. But sometimes it's just best to get a hotel.

Nova, Tamin, Katchin and other guys are very friendly people and we had a fun time with them. They helped us to find driver to Bromo, they showed us the city and unique community life. We had a lot of fun every evening. The place is like being somewhere in forest, lots of trees, lots of nature. It's amazing, few cottages together in Indonesian village style. You don't find luxurious accommodation there but "Kandang" community is full of nice young helpful people. The time we spent there is unforgettable. Thank you guys, mooong :)

Great place, great people. Used as a base to ascend Mahameru / Gunung Semeru. Close to market at center of Tumpang but feels in the middle if the jungle.

Reasonable price, surprisingly clean and new. Location is great, near to the centre but in a quiet alley. We had a good rest in Malang after climbing mount Bromo.
