  • George is a fantastic host! Quick replies to all our questions, easy check in, cabin is exactly as described. Photos don't do the view from the cabin justice!

  • An awesome place to stay, so quiet and relaxing. A great place to get away from the hustle and bustle of every day. A fire in the evening was lovely, toasting marshmallows on sticks. The lake is so clear, and an amazing place to watch the sunrise in the morning is on the deck while drinking tea. Would definitely recommend staying here.

  • Quiet, quaint , and cozy. George was quick to respond to our messages and kept a lovely space with a stunning view

  • We absolutely love George’s cabin. It is so peaceful and relaxing! There are so many things we love about his cabin but just to name a few; the outdoor shower, the use of the kayak and the cooking fire pit are some of our favourites. We have made George’s cabin an annual getaway and we can’t wait to visit again!!!

    Rebecca2019-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • George's cottage was great! It was equipped with almost everything you could ever need for a comfortable and fun stay. The lake was beautiful in both the morning and night time. George was also very keen in communicating as his responses were very fast! I would definitely recommend staying here if you ever decide to visit manitoulin!

  • Our 3rd time here and we are never disappointed. Nice additions having the eggs and wood delivered before we arrived. Can’t beat that night sky and that magnificent view of the bay.

    Aimee2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • If you are looking for peace and Tranquility you have found your spot!! Nothing like waking up to the sound of the waves hitting the shore. Tons of great hiking trails, so much Native culture to explore I am literally in love with George's cabin. This was my second summer hidding out and I already can't wait for next summer!!

    Manitowaning, ON, Canada

Our place faces south fronting on Lake Huron with over 1 klm of shoreline! The log cabin, built from local pine logs in 1993, sits on its own 20-acre wooded lot, making it completely private. We are bordered by public beaches: Lonely Bay beach is one bay west and Providence Bay beach one bay east. You’ll love my place because of the complete quiet, sweet air, water view, stars and wildlife. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, families (with kids), and furry friends (pets).
This property is uniquely held as a conservation area. The log cabin is the only rental unit on the entire 100 acre lot. It sits on Dean's Bay, one of the least developed bays on Manitoulin with only 5 owners for the entire 1000 acres. We are listed with the Ontario Woodlot Association as part of Ontario's Managed Forest Plan. We are officially designated as a light-free pollution zone, making star-gazing a special treat. Our property has been family held for 30 years as an environmentally-friendly, recreational- use property. No hunting or harvesting has been allowed during our tenure. In the sping, this area boasts a multitude of wildflower varities including wild trilliums, iris, lillies, ladyslippers and orchids. We are surrounded by water systems. The southern border is Lake Huron, while to the north and east there is lake/swamp system called Sandy Lakes. The Grimesthorpe Creek runs into Lake Huron to the west. Our property is part of a 2 km wide buffer running along the shoreline. The forest cover on the property is comprised of mixed hardwoods and conifer stands. The hardwoods are primarily maple, poplar, birch and iron wood. The conifers are white pine, cedar, balsam fir and spruce. Our forest complex is an important area for Ontario's flora and fauna. Some endangered and species at risk live here. The following list, compiled under our Forestry Managment agreement, describes some of the mammals, birds and reptiles found on our property: Mammals: -White tailed deer - Odocoileus virginianus – Seen all year. In the summer they are seen on the trails, near the swamps and walking through the bush and near the cabin. In the winter they yard in the thick cedar areas. -Marten – Martes Americana - All year. Not seen very often, but there are seen tracks throughout the more dense forest areas. -Mink – Mustela vison - Spring, summer and fall. Seen around the swamp. -Beaver – Castor Canadensis – Many beavers inhabit the swamps and are rarely seen in the lake. -Red fox – Vulpes vulpes – Sometimes seen throughout the year, but their tracks are often found all over the property during the winter months. -Snowshoe hare – Lepus americanus - Can be seen all year, but mostly seen in the spring and fall when they are changing colours. -Skunk – Mephitis mephitis - Not seen very often, but we know they are there! -Red squirrels - Sciurus vulgaris – All year. Red squirrels are all over the property and can be seen flying through the trees or heard chattering in the bush. -Racoon - Procyon lotor- Seen in the summer and fall. Their tracks can be seen all over the forest, especially near the wetland. -Coyote – Canis latrans – All year. Coyotes are sometime heard ‘yipping’ in the distance. Their tracks can be seen in the winter on the packed down trails or along the lakeshore. With so acreage available, they shy away from populated areas. -Timber wolf – Canis lupus - Very elusive, and rarely seen running the trails. Birds: -Bald eagles – Haliaeetus leucocephalus - Spring, summer, fall and winter. Eagles fly along the shoreline. -Ruffed grouse - Bonasa umbellus – All seasons, mostly in spring, summer and fall. They can be heard in the spring, drumming, and are seen in the birch and poplar trees eating the buds. -Woodpecker species – (Pileated, Hairy, Downy) – All seasons. Can be heard tapping away in the forest looking for food, or laughing at us! -Song birds – Some species all year, but warblers and migrators only in the warm months Chickadees and blue jays are very common. -Waterfowl – Spring, summer and fall. Sand Hill cranes, Canadian Geese, Ducks and loons are most prominent in summer. Dean's Bay is a virtual nursery to all waterfowl in the spring. -Raptors – Spring, summer and fall. Red tailed hawk and the northern harrier are quite common in this area, along with shrikes and American kestrel. Often seen flying over the swamp area looking for food. -Turkey vultures – Cathartes aura - Spring, summer, fall. The vultures can be seen circling in the air currents. -Crows – Corvus brachyrhynchos and Ravens - Corvus corax – All year. Very common to see these birds in the area often roosting in a tree. They are often in groups of two or more. Amphibians/Reptiles -Leopard frogs, American toad, tree frog and spring peepers. – Spring and summer There is an abundance of leopard frogs near the swamp. Large tree frogs and the spring peepers are always heard after the snow melts. Toads are found in the bush in dryer areas. -Painted and snapping turtles – Seen in the summer months. Often noticed in the swamp sunning themselves on the logs. In the spring the painted turtles are seen moving around looking for places to lay their eggs. -Salamanders – Seen in the spring and summer while moving firewood.

  • Great cottage in a serene spot on Lake Huron. Walking distance to quiet beaches. Perfect for those with dogs.

    Brad2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin has a warmth and character all of its own. For a few nights we hosted a couple of friends from the city and had plenty of room. We were so grateful for the peace and quiet and the opportunity to watch the ever-changing lake with all its wildlife, but the location made it a quick drive to the local town for supplies and anywhere else we wanted to explore. Marc and Therese are very kind and thoughtful hosts. The experience was a total pleasure for everyone, including our dog! A big thanks to them!

    Lynne2019-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • For anyone looking for a cozy, quaint, perfect little log cabin getaway in the woods, this is the ideal place! The lake is literally 25 steps from the back door, and you are surrounded by nature’s beauty. Excellent hosts and accommodations. Very dog friendly. We wanted a break from the business of every day life and this cabin was the perfect retreat. Can’t wait to go back!!

  • I really loved this place. It was perfect for myself and my dog. Unfortunately the weather kind of sucked so we didn't get to use the outdoor shower which looked so great. It was a great little cabin and Craig heated it up for me, which was nice as it was raining and cold when I arrived. Amazing bed too! Very cozy spot. I loved the dock and the walks around Oakley's Place. We went for a beautiful morning walk in the area and spotted a family of deer in the field nearby. So quiet and beautiful in this area. I'd highly recommend.

It is an original tiny house before tiny houses grew in popularity. The cottage was built in 1973 and it has the infamous retro brown paneling, a throw back in time, it is comfortable, with direct private lake access steps from the cottage, great views of the lake from the cottage and beautiful sunsets. Enjoy the warmer waters of an in-land lake, and great fishing. Come and enjoy beautiful Mantoulin Island and one of its most beautiful lakes, Lake Mindemoya.
If you are looking for a place to enjoy a little time away this is a great space. It is small (393sq ft) but it has everything you will need and it is clean. Enjoy the sunsets from the cottage or down on the dock. The cottage has a back deck, where you can BBQ, and chairs to relax in.
Our place is close to a gas station, grocery store, pharmacy, hospital, restaurants, information center, laundromat, lake
  • Vannetta's place was a great rustic experience for our visit to Manitoulin. It's central location is perfect for exploring the sights of the island.

  • Great spot on clean, clear lake with good swimming and great sunsets...

    Hugh2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • The place is fantastic exactly as described .It is centrally located in one of the busiest towns on the island .A thirty minute drive to some of the best beaches in other towns nearby and not to be missed only a seven minute drive to one of the best beach on the island in the town Mindemoya Itself. The cottage is rustic but very comfy and cosy .My kids and I enjoyed a dip in the lake which was just across the road as described . Vannetta is very prompt in responding to messages . We will definitely stay here again if we return to the island.

    Mario2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Said no more...we definitely will be back !

    Kiet2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • I've read most of the reviews and agree with most - it is a cottage and not a chic cabin! The pictures are exactly as shown and it is a perfect little cottage get-away with all the amenities you need to cook, sleep, shower, and enough island activities to please everyone's interests. Try the paddle boats (courtesy of Vannetta), visit Gore Bay and hike at the Cup & Saucer trails. Will come back for sure. Thanks Vannetta for making my stay a pleasant and comfortable experience.

West Bay Hideaway Keep cozy in our eco friendly cabin situated on Manitoulin Island, in the North Channel of beautiful Lake Huron. It’s the perfect spot if you want a quiet and relaxing retreat with your own private beach, quiet campfires and no city lights to hide the magnificent stars. Tuck your favorite book under your arm, stroll down to the lake and be lulled by the waves or just take in the beauty of your surroundings.
The Hideaway Space If you've ever dreamt of living in a little cabin off grid, here's the perfect opportunity to see what this lifestyle is all about! This two story, 500 square foot small space has so many offerings we hardly know where to start. The cabin is very clean, cozy, comfortable and everything you could want. On the main floor you can snuggle up by the wood stove, cuddle up on the couch or bust out one of the board games you loved to play as a kid. There is a well equipped kitchen with a stove & fridge, plenty of pots & pans and if thats not your gig we have a spacious deck for relaxing and outdoor meals cooked on the Bar-B-Que. The second story space is over looking West Bay. If you’re an early riser you can relax comfortably in the queen bed and watch the sunrise over the La Cloche Mountain range. Or close those shades and sleep in to the peacefulness of the waves. We have a tucked away, trundle bed hideout for two extra guests. And, in a pinch the couch on the main floor is a pull out. Our light system is a limited and solar generated. If you need to keep connected we have one charging port for a phone and cell service is available We supply drinking water that you can use for cooking, washing up, or to make tea or coffee. Just a few steps out of the bunkie is a well kept outhouse with a great view We love our out door shower where fresh clear water is pumped from the North channel to an elevated tank to warm with the sun, but we do have on demand hot water for the faint of heart. In the summer months the breeze off the lake keeps things comfortable. And don't get us started on spring and fall, they're absolutely perfect with the best of both worlds, warm enough to venture outside, and cool enough to still need the wood stove for a romantic night in the snug warm heat. We presume you’re coming to unplug, get quiet and connect to nature but if you’re looking for WiFi and shopping, we are not the right fit for you. If you are looking for a unique experience with a few off-grid perks, we welcome you to join us in our paradise!
What to do, What to do If a more active lifestyle is your thing we are situated just minutes from the Cup & Saucer trail a great way to see some of the beautiful scenery on Manitoulin Island from the cliff lookouts along the trail. The trail runs along part of the Niagara Escarpment which always provides some interesting topography. Bridal Veil Falls is just a hop skip and a jump as we are located five minutes from Kagawong. This is just the tip of the iceberg for hiking enthusiast. Don’t get me started on cycling, Manitoulin Island is a holiday destination that is uniquely appropriate for cycling. The island is home to six Anishinaabe reserves (M'Chigeeng, Sheguiandah, Sheshegwaning, Aundeck Omni Kaning, Wikwemikong and Zhiibaahaasing.) And hold traditional Pow Wows from June to Sept. visitors are invited to join the fun! We have two kayaks for your use and supply life jackets but it is always recommended if you are an avid paddler looking for an excursion to supply your own safety gear.
  • This little cabin is great for a simple, cozy, get away. Very simply set up and easy to manage. It was the perfect size cabin for 2. We loved that they had kayaks available for us to use. We went to the main 3 hiking trails, all with in a 1/2 hr to the cabin. Going the week after thanksgiving we timed the fall colours perfectly! We would most definitely book this cabin agin.

  • Linda and Marc are excellent hosts! The bunkie and property is very beautiful and well planned out. We felt so welcome and at home. They added many thoughtful and warm touches to the place and there was so much to keep us entertained, we didn't even look at our phones. The beach front is perfect for star gazing, sitting by the fire or camping outside and you will be amazed at the view! We felt like we were by the ocean with the sound of the waves through the bedroom window and the bunkie was spotless, beautiful, cosy and very well equiped. The outhouse is also very cute and has a wash up area and counter outside. We loved the wrap around porch and lights at night as well as sitting on the muskoka chairs taking in the peaceful quiet. The fireplace at night made things very cosy and there were plenty of sights to see close by during the day. The hiking spots near by are breath taking as was the scenery on the way. We would definitely love to come back!

    Annemarie2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Honestly felt like we were staying at a family members home. Like your favourite loving auntie who pulls out all the stops for you and cooks you your favourite meal when you visit. Haha. There were so many little caring touches like a greeting basket of goodies you may have forgotten, to supplies to make s’mores. It’s clear when you look around the space that the cabin is a beloved feature in Linda & Marc’s family, and you feel that warmth when you stay there. We traveled as a small family, myself, husband and our three year old. As avid outdoors peoples we thought this semi off grid cabin would require a bit more prep and effort on our part, but man were we wrong, because the way the space and amenities are organized you don’t even miss indoor plumbing. Though we adored the outhouse- sounds silly but it was filled with family photos and impeccably clean- it’s legit just a washroom but outside! And all three of us loved the outdoor shower- which is more cozy and private then you might imagine. The cabin appears newly renovated- it is absolutely the CUTEST. With an incredible loft space for sleeping with the best view of the lake. We were lulled to sleep each night by the sound of the waves. And yes, that water- you have the most seriously private beach front all to yourself! We played there daily with my kiddo, swimming, cooking over the fire pit, tossing stones. It was like a little slice of paradise. There’s too much to say, and not enough space here, from an adorable wood stove fire place for cold nights, to a clear roof and outdoor eating space on the wrap around porch that makes you feel like you are right in the woods, to adorable patio lights and candles for a more romantic evening. On our last day our kiddo begged us not to leave! Already planning our next trip. And I would even like to plan a solo trip to use the space for my own work and writing it was that calming. Oh and Manitoulin has so much to do! We toured all over the island, went out a few times for food, coffee, parks, a splash pad for the kiddo and an incredible time at M’Chigeeng First Nation pow wow. I mean, what more can you ask for. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful space Linda and Marc!

    Nicole2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Heaven on Earth! The cottage and property were even better than we expected. The covered wrap around porch is bigger than it looks and serves as an outdoor living space. There is a treehouse with a swing for the kiddos. It is central to many of the towns and attraction of the island and while most people along the shoreline were around, we had ultimate privacy and felt like the only ones around. Linda and Marc have done a wonderful job of creating a rustic getaway while still providing all of the creature comforts.

    Quinn2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • Linda’s and Marc’s Place is what we are dreaming of. There is a very special spirit around the house. If you look for a peaceful, calm and relaxing spot off grit, this is your place to be. We absolutely loved the fact, that we haven’t had anything to worry about. Just take the day as it is. Living off grit for some days is not difficult because Linda and Marc prepared everything so thoughtfully. Finding your daily routine around the house, washing dishes, taking a outdoor shower with fresh lake water, like Mother Nature offers it to you, is a relief. You are far away from your daily life and you can just enjoy your time reading, having a fire at the fire pit, or go Kayaking. There is so much to explore around the house and after the one night in the very comfortable bed, hearing the waves all night long through the wide open window, you feel even better. The nature on the island is very interesting and we could see the rural beauty of the area. The colours, the fresh air and really great hiking trail gave us the possibility to relax in a very short time. We would absolutely love to come back very soon. Thank you so very much for having us, Linda and Marc.

    Laura2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Such a quaint relaxing get away spot. Perfect for those who enjoy the outdoors and connecting with nature. Would 100% recommend Linda and Marc to others, and we will certainly come back again!

  • West Bay Hideaway is a gem that offers you the opportunity to reconnect while surrounded by the serenity of nature. It provides everything you need to enhance your time on beautiful Manitoulin Island. The shower is hot, bed comfortable and view spectacular!

    Lisa2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • West bay Hideaway has so much charm and it is so peaceful. Every space is used so purposefully in the cottage, the porch is the coziest and so lovely for a morning coffee! The outhouse could not be cuter or cleaner and has just as much charm as the rest of the place. The beach is so close and full of great fossils, crayfish and minnows! There is a great fire pit at the beach to relax by at night. We saw so much wildlife during our stay. It was such a great spot to sit back and relax for the week!

    Tuan2019-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Sharon’s place. The cottage was cute, clean, quiet and peaceful . Our only complaint would be we wish we could have stayed longer. Manitoulin is beautiful and Sharon’s place was a great way to relax on the private beach after a busy day of hiking and exploring the island.

  • Great spot to relax by the lake. The fire pit on the beach was amazing. Garry came out to help us get it going. We had a wonderful time!

  • Located on the rugged south end of Manitoulin Island, it is has easy access to a beach, a park, a fish sanctuary where you can see osprey's and eagles feed in great numbers. The bunkhouse itself is very clean and spacious, with two wood paneled rooms very comfortable. The washroom is modern and well appointed. The kitchen had everything we could ask for. There is a propane bbq available. The hosts Garry and Elaine (and LeRoy the dog and their two cats) are very welcoming and friendly. They were available every evening to answer questions about the property and about Manitoulin itself. Garry fed us some local fish and when he learnt that we were new to fishing and wanted to fish - took 5 of us fishing! Garry makes a wonderful tomato preserve/compote/chutney and I hope you can sample some of that. There were many other ways in which the hosts were remarkable - and I forget many details now. The wifi can be spotty but we were very happy to be disconnected. Highly recommended. We plan to return. Thank you.

  • Such a beautiful spot! The beach was perfect and only steps away from our sleeping quarters. Lovely large living space to lounge, dine and cook in the kitchen. The bedrooms and bathroom were lovely. Every room was spotless. Garry made us feel so welcome and even started up the fire in the beach side fire pit for us!

    Wendy2019-09-17T00:00:00Z
  • The Bunkhouse was way better than we expected. The beds are comfortable and the heating worked great making it a very comfortable stay. The highlight obviously is the beach. Garry was sweet enough to set up the firpit for us with ample chairs and extra logs for the night. the beach was secluded and private enough . We also used the paddleboard and cannoe available . It is an island so come prepared with ample food supplies. Nearest restaurants either close early or are a long drive from the bunkhouse. All in all a great trip . Thanks Garry and Elaine for your hospitality !

  • Sparkling clean, wonderful hosts. Private beach and campfire on the beach !

    Carol2019-08-29T00:00:00Z
  • One of the most beautiful beaches I have ever been to. It was the perfect location. The bedrooms are nice and the 2 beds in the common area are good for the kids.

    Michelle2019-08-26T00:00:00Z
  • Our favourite aspect of the bunkhouse was the beach: beautiful, with gradual access perfect for kids. Garry thoughtfully assembled the fire pit for us, so that our kids could have s’mores each night. The bunkhouse was more or less as advertised. A bit no frills, but not unexpected and candidly great for families with young kids - less they can break! The main disappointment was the lack of wifi, but not a deal breaker. Overall a terrific experience, and Garry and Elaine were great hosts!

    Alison2019-08-24T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at the bunk house! It worked perfectly for our family, and had everything we needed. The beach there is absolutely beautiful! Garry and Eileen were wonderful hosts! We will be back.

  • Tish and Leslie's place was more than we could have asked for :) The mobile home was much larger than expected and very clean! We ended up arriving later than anticipated but Tish so thoughtfully left the front porch light on for us which made their place much easier to locate in the dark. The apartment was equipped with everything that we needed to have an enjoyable stay. There is a large parking spot in front of the mobile home. Definitely worth the price and would recommend to anyone! :)

    Carling2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Tish's place is home away from home! Enjoyed my stay on the Island. Great location...40 minutes to the ferry! Quiet location. People are very friendly! I look forward to staying here again on my next trip!

    Joy2019-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • Tish was such a wonderful host, and her place gave me butterflies as we pulled up to it and stepped inside. Beautifully placed within the woods, private, well equipped and overall, perfect. It truly did feel like home, and Tish had thought of everything down to an Autumn themed entrance with scents and candles. I can't say enough about how grateful we were to stay in this little home away from home. Thank you so much, and I can't wait to be back again soon!

    Gaggan2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • I highly recommend this place. It was clean and cozy, with all the amenities we needed. The hostess was thoughtful and very responsive.

  • I must admit that staying at this Airbnb location was one of my best. Everything you would need for staying a night or a week with wonderfully friendly locals around you. I would definitely stay here again when I go back to the Island!

Stunning, brand new, and fully furnished you will be hard-pressed to find anything of this caliber on Manitoulin Island. The boat house features vaulted ceilings and high end amenities. You literally can't get you any closer to the water - you're overhanging it! Worth Noting: The wifi isn't super strong here. The signal is better up by the loft. So, there is Internet, but don't depend on it while you're in the Boathouse.
We completed the build of this cabin in Sept 2016. It is a perfect get away for a couple and has everything you'd want to escape and relax. We were able to build on the footprint of the old existing boat house, but otherwise you would not be able to build a new place this close to the water anymore. You will find peace here. It's a private northern sanctuary you'd share with seven other cabins. We have family whom have been coming back for 30 years. It's almost like another home for them where they've raised their kids. You can find the perfect getaway here. The cabin itself is private, fully stocked with all you'd need for cooking, or staying in and relaxing in the bath (the bath is nothing special itself, but it exists).
Being in the woods, it's super dark. We have some lights along the drive, but a head lamp or flash light would be useful too. Your neighbours are other guests and wildlife.
  • Myself and my husband stayed in the Boathouse for 4 days. 2 of those days we were the only ones on the whole property. (Yay winter!) It was a very relaxing stay and the place still looks brand new. The only drawback is having to get used to a constant hum from below as they have a bubbler system on for the winter. However, you get used to it. The boathouse has exceptional views of Lake Manitou! (We had our ice fishing gear with us but lake was not frozen yet.) The sauna and fireplace are nice features as well. Just missing a hot tub on the deck! :) Shelley and Kyra from Camp Mary Anne are very quick to respond and VERY accommodating. I recommend this place!

    Jen2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • A wonderful, stylish and spotlessy clean place. This was our second stay and once again truly enjoyed it. Very communicative and caring and a lovely location. Highly recommend.

    Georgina2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • We truly enjoyed our escape at Camp Mary Anne. The host responded very quickly to all requests. The cottage is absolutely wonderful. Cozy, warm and with all the amenities you could want. You need to be ready to be off the grid. I wish we would have had more time to prepare for that aspect. But that was helpful in really resting at the same time. LOL The weather was gloomy while we were there as it was late fall early winter, but that did not take away from the slice of paradise we found ourselves in. We can't imagine how wonderful it would be with great weather.... :) We will definitely be going back if they will have us. D&L Jokela

  • We had a fantastic stay! Kyra was very helpful and responsive. The view from cottage is amazing and all the amenities were really fantastic.

    Rubaiyat2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Camp Mary Anne, what can I say!? Wow. From the time we set foot on the gravol of this place we felt at "home". The resort literally had everything you needed to get thru the week. From towels, coffee, blankets, or even asked for extra toilet paper. Kyra ensured we were looked after. Points of interest such as bridal viel falls was an amazing view. Def a must see. Con: We even stopped at "Mums Bakery" in the town of mindemoya, it could've been better and more welcoming. I told my mom next time we would go elsewhere. Another con was the fire place, as it had a glitch but krya and her husband ensured we were warm by letting us use "heaters" till they could get someone the next day. Driving thru all the different reserves during our stay and after, was heart warming. We literally felt at "home". Never out of place. (From Aamjiwnaang First Nation). Loved experiencing waking up in the early morning to hear the amazing sounds of loons and witnessing the beautiful sun rises and sun sets. This whole stay, was a full 5 stars. It was what I needed to recharge and rejuevantate before coming back to my hectic schedules and everyday life.

  • Just as the ad says - beautiful location on Manitoulin Island. The Boathouse At Camp Mary Anne is a unique location to stay in. It’s beautifully and tastefully done. Very clean, easy communication with hostess. Comfy bed. Lots of local magazines to peruse through that we used to guide our trip. Would recommend!

    Kristal2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • My wife and I spent our honeymoon at camp Mary Anne, the boat house was exactly what we needed after months of wedding planning, complete serenity, the place was absolutely gorgeous!! Plenty of windows and views for days!! Spent most of our time chilling on the deck, loved it and would definitely recommend!

    Jason2019-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • Heaven on earth! If you’re looking for a complete step away from the world look no further. This boathouse is dreamy, overhanging the beautiful pristine quiet! Lake Manitou where we were serenaded by a thousand stars and the Milky Way at night, loons, ducks and the stillness and serenity of Manitoulin island. The boathouse itself was perfection! The bed was insanely comfortable (hello memory foam topper!), the beautiful beams and soaring ceiling heights, the perfectly appointed kitchen, immaculate bathroom and sauna! We used this location as a base for exploring the Island with easy access to Kagawong to explore Bridal Veil Falls and Little Current to see the swing bridge in action and also to take in the breathtaking star canopy at Gordon’s Dark Sky Preserve - all easily accessible from this little slice of heaven! I am already dreaming of when I can return and will carry the stillness and loon calls of the Lake with me. Thanks Camp Maryanne for hosting us!

Features a three piece bath, a queen sized bed and a fully equipped kitchen. The cottage is insulated and offer a furnished screened- in porch with a beautiful view of the lake.
  • Neat little cottage beside Lake Kagawong on a quiet little road. Host was accessible and accommodating.

  • Very enjoyable week on Manitoulin and we had all we needed at the cottage. We stayed at the smaller cottage and the other one was not occupied. Beautiful sunsets. I did get into the water there a few times ,with a little care and really enjoyed the swimming. The water looks so clean. The kitchen was well-equipped and spotless. We enjoyed the Wednesday Market in Kagawong, visiting spots in Mindemoya, and Providence Bay as well as the Perivale Art Gallery and relaxing in the cottage screened porch.

    Janice2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the smaller of the the two cottages in Spring Bay. It is very well located on the island, very central, and right on a quiet road with lake access literally across the road. The cottage is very well set up for comfort, everything you need is there, clean as a whistle, comfortable bed and screened in porch that was our favorite place to sit and enjoy the sunsets, the breeze, and frequently to eat our meals. Paul and Lisa were extremely attentive to our needs, it was such a pleasure interacting with them they are wonderful people and hosts. We are already looking for a way to return with more family members and rent both cottages. Cycling, swimming and kayaking are at your doorstep here, air is fresh and lake is crystal clear. Wonderful experience! Thanks Paul and Lisa!

    Susan2018-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's cottages delivered on everything promised in the advertisement. The cottage was very clean, very comfortable and a perfect place to lay our heads after a great day exploring Manitoulin Island. The location of the cottage is central to various destinations and attractions on the Island which made for nice easy drives each day. We were thoroughly impressed with the cottage and would come back again and recommend to friends. Thanks so much.

Not far from the ferry dock, this 100 acre Art Farm features organic gardens, exceptional up close bird watching, a pristine creek and a labyrinth for meditative walks. Swimming, hiking, fishing, and beautiful stargazing are all nearby. Your host can guide you to cultural events, introduce you to the Indigenous language of the region, and share magical true stories of the natural surroundings.
One of three rooms available (see our other listings), this cute room with a Queen bed has lots of light and a view of the creek. The happy buzz of organic farm life and lower room rates make this an excellent choice for nature lovers.
Manitoulin Island is truly unique in several respects - the geology, plant life, wildlife, and birds distinctly reflect Manitoulin’s uniqueness as the largest freshwater island in...well...the Universe!! Well, as far as we know ☀️! The Indigenous Nations on the island are vibrant communities, the origins of leaders in the arts, law, governance, activism, agriculture, environmentalism, robotics(!), and each hosts an awesome Pow-Wow throughout the summer months.
  • I spent a winter weekend on the island. Boo was a wonderful host. We had great conversation! Boo is very knowledgeable and helpful for tips on where to go. She allowed me to use her snowshoes and trek around the property. All around wonderful stay!

  • Boo is a very welcoming and friendly host. My stay was short but Boo made me feel like family.

    Luke2019-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Boo's place is amazing. We visited in early November, and Manitoulin was so quiet and peaceful. Boo is a lovely storyteller, a gracious host. We even shared a delicious meal together, talking about the local culture and ended up getting a few tips in the Ojibway languages. I can't recommend a visit to the Island enough, and Boo was the perfect host.

    Michael2019-11-11T00:00:00Z
  • Boo has so much going on here! Organic gardens, dogs, a cat; an extremely warm atmosphere! She is so welcoming and friendly also. Thank you, Boo!

  • Boo is a wonderful soul and person. She is a free spirit who is willing to share not only her unique spot in the world, but also her unique views. Her suggestions for sights to see on the Island were not only helpful, but they really made our stay much more enjoyable. She was a lovely host and I would happily stay there again. Her farm is unique and serene.

    Julianne2019-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Boo's place is quaint and feels like home. The real pride and joy of the home is Boo herself. We really enjoyed getting to know Boo and cuddling her dogs and cat. It was nice to walk around d her garden and labyrinth. There is a lovely restaurant right next door and it is an absolute must. Definitely want to gome back.

The loft hugs you with its warmth from the moment you walk in the door. High-end amenities and well designed space will allow you to enjoy the peace of the island from the comfort of this tranquil get-away.
The Loft is one of our newer buildings, with in-floor heating and fully winterized. It's cozy. In the summer, enjoy your coffee on the deck with views of the lake from above. In the winter, heat up in the sauna and relax in front of the fireplace. It's a perfect get away or for longer-term stays.
You're in the wilderness, so expect to see animals. This is one of 8 cabins on the property, so you're bound to see other vacationers during the peak vacation months. Less so during the winter.

  • If you're looking for a cozy and modern lofted space than look no further. There are many comforts while staying including the sauna and fireplace if you're there in chillier months. The area is quiet and relaxing, a great place to stargaze and see sights. If your looking for a return to nature then this is the place for you as you will be willing to unplug and enjoy yourself. Kyra was very helpful and friendly during our stay, and the loft thoughtfully provides every amenity that you could think of including an appliance stocked kitchen and dishes, you only need to bring food. All in all I will be returning to the island and this will be the first place I will look to stay in when that day comes. :)

  • Camp Mary Anne is as amazing as it’s pictures- and there is a sauna- something I didn’t realise on booking!! Be prepared to unplug as there isn’t really any internet- but that was what we were after! Beautiful positioning the little town of Mindemoya was very close for food shops etc. Would highly recommend.

  • Cindy’s cottages are wonderful, adjacent to the shore in a protected bay one can hear the waves lapping. Our cottage was clean, cozy, so quiet and private amongst a cedar grove. Lots of hot water for showers and a good cooking kitchen. I loved the unpretentiousness style - old school ascetics! good to get away from trending interiors and be real. The spacious back deck with picnic table and good bbq overlooked the water. Cindy’s hospitality and cottages are 5 star!

  • My family stayed at the Bears Inn cottage for two nights. The location is perfect for our first time visit to the Manitoulin Island. It is 10 mins drive from the Ferry Terminal and very close to Hwy 6 which links up to all other highways on the island. Our cottage (#6) is right by the lake. You can enjoy the view inside and outside on the deck with a BBQ. The beds and the pull-out couch are very comfortable. There is a lazy boy in the living room. The kitchen is well equipped. Bring your own shampoo and body wash. I would recommend staying at Cindy’s cottage.

  • Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay for the second year in row. This home has everything, is spotless and well maintained. William is a fantastic host ensuring that all our expectations were met and then some. We really feel at home here and we plan to come back next year.

    Garret2019-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • William's cottage is a perfect retreat for families wishing to enjoy the lake and Manitoulin Island. Our family loved staying here. We really appreciated a previous post advising us to bring water shoes so that we could walk out over the rocks into the water. We could walk out the back door to the water, and swim, snorkel, and float to our hearts' content. It was like having our own private beach. The cottage was comfy and had everything we needed for a fun family stay.

  • We stayed for only 3 days at William's Cottage, the place is amazing so private and Natural setting let us relax and recharge. At the same time as our Tesla got a charge for the round trips around the Island. Special thanks to William to install the 30 Amp charging Plug for our EV. The next time we have an oversee visitors we will bring them here.

  • William's cottage was an excellent choice for our trip to Manitoulin. It's right on the water, and very spacious & comfortable. There's bedrooms upstairs & downstairs, as well as a large kitchen, dining, and living area. It was clean and tidy and full of great cottage touches like books, games, and chopped wood for the fire.

Newly renovated and remodeled cottage located on beautiful Lake Kagawong, situated in the centre of Manitoulin Island, Ontario. The two bedroom cottage features a three piece bath, a queen sized bed, a bunk bed with a single bed on the top and a double on the bottom, and a fully equipped kitchen. The cottage is insulated and offers a furnished screened- in porch with a beautiful view of the lake and private deck off the back of the cottage.
  • Third year in a row and we will be back again next year. Love everything about this place! We messaged Paul one day to let him know the coffee maker had stopped working. He showed up at the door 5 minutes later with another coffee maker! Now that's service!

    Robin2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Beautifully updated cottage with view of the lake. Paul and Lisa were great host.

    Valerie2019-08-03T00:00:00Z
  • This was a great cottage with a beautiful lakefront. Photos shown don’t do it justice, it is much better than what you see in the pictures. Very clean and stylish. Paul has paid attention to even the smallest details. Kitchen has every appliance and utensils one could wish for. The bathroom is very clean. Very comfy beds. The property itself is lovely - so much space. We really enjoyed our stay for a very reasonable price. The only thing to consider is garbage. You must take it with you at the end of stay and the local dump site hours may not be very convenient depending on your departure. We had to take our garbage to Tobermory and our car stank like high heaven. This is not to say I blame the host for it but just something to consider and properly plan for.

    Elinor2019-07-06T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage experience was one for the books. Paul and Lisa have thought of every small detail to make you feel at home. We enjoyed nights by the campfire, kayaking off the dock, watching the sunsets, and playing scrabble in the screened in porch. It was just what we needed for our holiday. The decor is modern but doesn't away from the "cottage" feel. To find out Lisa's artwork not only hangs at the Perivale art gallery, a short walk down the road, but on the walls of their accommodation was also a beautiful touch. We would highly recommend to friends and family. Manitoulin once again did not disappoint. -Katelyn and Darren

Welcome to Manitoulin Permaculture! We are an eclectic community of infectiously warm and welcoming humans that are exploring ways of living that nurture each other and the land we share. We recently dedicated a private, lakeside Airstream for guests. A full bed with linens and bedding is provided for your stay (couch available also). There are shared composting toilets a short walk from the Airstream. If you are inclined, you are welcome to join us for communal dinners Monday to Saturday.
There are volunteers from around the globe coming and going from our little corner of paradise. If you have any farm proclivities and want to help (no expectation) pull weeds, collect eggs, harvest veggies or pitch in with dinner prep, you are certainly welcome to. The plusses: - the space is beautiful and you'll have a wide open view of the sunsets every night right from your door - the frogs will sing you to sleep The minuses: - the Airstream is close to the community kitchen which serves as the main meeting point for our community during dinners. - there is power but no water You can choose your level of interaction with the others here. There is a considerable amount of wildlife on the property or passing through. You may find yourself sharing a pathway with a skunk or porcupine, encounter snakes, frogs, turtles, and toads, with many birds coming and going.
  • The locale could not have been more perfect. The energy surrounding the entire property is amazing. We could not have felt more welcomed. It was a shame that our visit was so late in the year. It would have been nice to get out in the canoe, but the weather wasn't too cooperative...the sauna more than made up for it though! Thanks Justin

    Christopher2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great host, great property! If you’re lucky you might even eat some great food and learn something about permaculture! 10/10

    Michael2019-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Staying in the airstream was great. It has everything you need with the Kitchen and solar shower close by. The crew at the farm was very friendly and inviting, with lots of ideas about what to do on the island. We had a great time would stay there again for sure.

    Ian2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • This is a fascinating and lively place to stay. The formal assessment criteria don't really apply to somewhere that has comfortable tents or a vintage Airstream for sleeping, composting toilets and a solar shower, and a welcome to join in a communal meal in the evening and a make-your-own breakfast in the morning. We loved it and would love the chance to go again. We learned a bit more about permaculture and the ups and downs of seeking truly sustainable alternatives for growing your own food. Justin was welcoming, as was the very warm and informative Corine .

  • Cool little old camper! Beautiful views, fun things to do onsite, and good vibes from all the people. Wish we could have stayed longer!

    Jacq2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • This spot is absolute magic. Late night sauna after watching the incredible sunset at our feet from the Airstream through cat tails and wildflowers from the marsh, after a delicious communal dinner with interesting conversation that we were openly encouraged to join, which followed a visit to Bridal Veil Falls that we took with the community. Good vibes alll over the place :) The stay here was the highlight of our Manitoulin experience! Welcomed by great people, gardens, chickens, froggies, hammocks and a swing... Life is most excellent :)

    Shayla2019-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • Justin’s place was super cool. The view from the airstream is totally unmatchable. It was so nice being able to fall asleep with the sound of the grass and frogs. The airstream itself is actually quite spacious while being super cozy. The restrooms are very nice and updated. Everyone we interacted with while staying was a joy to talk to. Wished we could have stayed longer!

  • Perfect AirBnB! Tastefully decorated in a contemporary Western style with a large modern bathroom and a kitchenette which we gladly used more than we had anticipated. A good grocery store and other stores nearby and centrally located on the island. We even used the outdoor patio for lunch and enjoyed the surrounding fields. Kayaking is available just across the street on Lake Mindemoya. At one point, we had the whole big lake to ourselves. The hosts are very friendly. Thank you for the tour, Cheryl!

Thank you for a perfect Manitoulin Island stay!

I have a 3 bedroom bungalow on the lake. The cabin has all the amenities, except for Internet. The cabin is not fancy. It's an older building but still very well laid out and very comfortable. The beach is one of the best on Manitoulin Island. Nice sand beach with a firm sand bottom that remains shallow for a long way. Situated on a quiet bay with almost no boat traffic. The water gets warm in the summer to swim.
There is a boat launches close by. You can pull a small boat up on the beach but anything inboard/outboard would probably be best left on a dock. There is a very nice 9 hole golf course about 15 min away. The Town of Gore Bay is also about 15 min away and has everything you will need. ie grocery store, hardware, beer store, pharmacy etc etc Evansville itself has a small butcher shop with the an assortment of canned goods, cheeses, and most things you'd expect in a deli.
  • Very spacious, beautiful spot on Manitoulin Island!

    Tariq2019-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • Great place! The beach and bunkie make it our new preferred location on the Island. Family friendly. We had ten people with kids, and we loved it. It’s close enough to Gore Bay and Kagawong, and given the isolated bay the water is warmer than expected. We will come again!

    Luk2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Great stay, we highly recommend it.

  • Breathtaking view of Campbell Bay on a private backyard with large deck, clean lawn, clean white sand beach! Generous, kind host. Older but clean 1950's bungalow with retro decor. Everything you could need you will find from bedding to sunblock. A canoe and row boat for borrowing, along with life jackets. Phenomenal. We will definitely be back! Thanks again!

  • This is a great place with a great beach front. It is shallow and sandy with privacy. I would definitely come back. The cottage and Bunkie were great.

    Gary2018-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • Beach is incredible! There is a trampoline on land as well as on the lake. It is shallow and great for kids. Water in the lake is clean enough for crayfish! Which we enjoyed catching and releasing with the kids. BBQ works great and the deck is big and low. 3 bedrooms with 1 bed each offered or family plenty of space. There is a guest house with two solid bunk-beds as well. Clean, plenty of space, hot water and cable tv all add to this positive review.

  • Pamela’s Sweet Water Oasis was very comfy and cozy! Pamela was a fabulous host who was extremely accommodating of our late arrival and was super fast at responding to messages/questions. The trailer has a spectacular view down the mountain and is in the perfect location for heading out to all the different sites and activities around the island! Unfortunately it rained a lot while we were there, so we didn’t get a chance to use the bonfire pit, but it was set-up, ready to go, and looked like it would have been perfect! We had a wonderful time!

Only 45 min from providence bay which was absolutely beautiful! We will definitely be returning! Thank you so much Pamela and Sonny for your great hospitality!

  • The place is amazing. If you want to be by yourself and enjoy nature at it's best this is the place to go. In 2km walking distance is a nice little town cafe and some place to eat. At night stargazing is fantastic and a swim in lake huron is quite refreshing. Thanks Jane for having us at this wonderful place of yours!

    Stefanie2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Llangwyllym is a beautiful natural setting to recharge in for those who truly want to get away from it all. Jane is a wonderful host. There are special touches everywhere! Just back from our second visit and plan to return again.

  • Fantastic location to reconnect with nature and discover the magic of Manitoulin.

    Kim2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Jackrabbits, butterflies, woodpeckers and many other birds, bumblebees, foxes barking at night, the fattest leopard frog I've ever seen, terns and gulls vying for position on the rocks out front, etc., etc. Sit quietly and enjoy the life around you. Excellent time had by all.

    Joanne2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • Jane’s place is a wonderful relaxing and unique spot. We loved it.

    Diane2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • This cabin was everything I expected - and hoped for! A private natural place to reconnect with nature and with my family. Providence Bay is a lovely little town only a few minutes away with an amazing coffee shop and a beautiful sandy beach. The stargazing is unparalleled. Truly a magical place to spend your vacation.

Welcome to our cosy, open concept, barrier free summer home, nestled amongst the cedars in Evansville Manitoulin Island. We enjoy it here so much we would like to share it with you. We're not on the water but we are a great home base for exploring the Island. There's everything you need for a lovely Manitoulin vacation. Our kitchen is well supplied for your cooking needs, bring only your food. Enjoy the dvd/satellite on 2 big screen tv's. Bedding included.
Two decks for your enjoyment, a bbq and firepit for that Manitoulin experience. Sip morning coffee while listening to the birds while you plan your day exploring the island. You'll love the night sky during our quiet evenings on the back deck beside an outcrop of the Niagara Escarpment.
Evansville is 15 minutes from Gore Bay, an hour from Little Current, and an hour from South Baymouth. There is a local butcher shop nearby, and GG's Diner down the street, but there are no other services in Evansville. There is a public picnic area and boat ramp for your boat or kayak a couple minutes away, but swimming is not allowed. Take a lovely walk in the evening to watch the sunset over Scott's bluff at the causeway, bring your rod the bass, pike or rainbow trout might be biting, see the osprey protect her nest, and maybe take a picture of a deer or three. The closest beach is 11 minutes away at Julia Bay.
  • Amazing little cottage tucked into the cedars. Gore Bay is only 10 minutes away, loved all the amenities such as the washer, dryer, dishwashers and large oven to cook a turkey in for Thanksgiving dinner. The satellite and tv in the bedroom was an unexpected delight for those rainy days!

  • Diane's place was great! The kitchen was well equipped, it had easy access for loading & unloading the car. The deck & back patio were a bonus. Very comfortable & quiet location! I would recommend it.

  • Diane and Cliff are the best hosts! They gave us amazing local tips and always replied to questions quickly. Their place is spacious and has every kitchen amenity you can imagine. We stayed 3 days but wish it was 3 weeks. We had plenty of space for a family of 5 and will absolutely be back next year!

    Katie2019-09-19T00:00:00Z
  • Lots of space, you will undoubtedly feel home in Cliff and Diane cottage - at least we did. We had everything and more than what we needed for our few days. Communication with Cliff was great, reactive and agreeable - we did not meet but felt like we did. Some info for young kids parents on the location: the cottage is located above a frequented road. No fence between the alley / back yard and road.

    Cécile2019-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • An excellent stay, in a very convenient location for our activities (hiking, fishing, and exploring). Very few tourists around, and nice and quiet at night. Three bedrooms, and a spacious kitchen / dining / living room. Outdoor patios (front and back), are excellent for campfires and star-gazing. While next to the main road, we were not affected by road noise (very quiet, and few vehicles). We would stay again!

    Scott2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Clean home away from home in a quiet part of the island. The place is clean and comfortable. Amenities like fire and bbq are nice touches to wind down with. Inside everything you need to enjoy your stay has been thought of, including rainy day backup entertainment! Would recommend to anyone looking for a retreat on the west end of Manitoulin!

    Mario2019-08-11T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fantastic stay at this cottage and couldn't recommend it enough if you are after a quiet and peaceful stay and campfires under a starry sky, gazing at the milky way. It was so nice we actually arranged to stay an additional day! We all loved it all!

  • The place is just awesome. It is comfortable and very clean. There is everything available what you could need. It is a beautiful house and the rooms are decorated in a nice style. The hosts, Heidi and Serge, are very friendly and welcoming people. It was nice talking to them. They are very helpful and the communication was easy. They also provided a lot of advices where to go to on the island. All the other guests have been relaxed an friendly, too. The location is also great. It is only a short walk to the beach and it is in a quiet and nice neighborhood. I hope to come back to Manitoulin Island, soon and would definitely like to stay here again. All in all I strongly recommend staying at this place when you are on the island.

A great place for canoeing and kayaking, painting or photography or simply relaxing on the deck.

  • Cosy bunkie on the water. Short drive to Manitoulin Island and very close to a lot of amazing hiking trails! Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to explore the area.

  • This is a great spot to relax. The bunkie has no electricity or running water, but it is cozy and neat. There is a porto-potty that is very clean a few steps away. The lake is spectacular, and there are many hikes and paddles around to explore and enjoy. It was nice to have a comfortable bed, and a roof over our heads after our day's adventures!

  • We had a blast! We rode around in the canoe on the prettiest lake, all to ourselves. They have a great party deck where we swam and lounged with our books. The cabin was super cozy and I thought the bed was extremely comfortable. Communication was clear and very nice.

  • Al & Melinda were very welcoming of their personal retreat, and absolutely great hostesses. They truly have a unique location, one that I’m pleased to have ticketed off the bucket list and appreciative that they share this gem! The BI bunkie was the perfect little escape to unwind. Floating on my swan in the lake was a highlight! Considering we only live 15 minutes away I didn’t want to leave! Safe to say we will be back! Miigwetch!

    Jessica2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • We came just for a quick weekend and this place absolutely stole our hearts! The view is compared to none. Al and Melinda are very helpful with suggestions and very kind people! We definitely recommend this place if you want to escape!

  • We spent 3 nights in Al and Melinda's place. So beautiful. We did canoeing, swim in the lake, star gazing. We did enjoy our stay. Thank you 💕

A secluded 4 bedroom cottage with over 300 feet of lakefront. We wanted to ensure that you will have plenty of privacy at this cottage. This cottage is as close to the lake as the by-law allows (66′ from the high water mark). There are horse shoe pits, a sand box and about a quarter acre of lawn at the cottage. There is a dock, with a buoy offshore for tying up a boat. Lots of people, of all ages, have enjoyed swimming out front of the cottage over the years. The property is on a small bay (Patterson Bay) in the South West of Lake Kagawong, a fairly large lake (it would take about 1 hour to drive around the lake on the local roads). The property consists of open field, cedar forest, mixed forest and limestone shoreline. If you take a walk around dawn or dusk don’t be surprised to see a deer or other animals wandering around. Enjoy the clean air/water. Star gaze at night around the fire pit and wake up in the morning to the call of a loon. A place to really get away from it all, also a place to explore the magnificent beauty and character of Manitoulin Island. The cottage is called Eagle View because a bald eagle soared overhead the day we received the front door key.
A secluded 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom, cottage with over 300 feet of lakefront. We wanted to ensure that you will have plenty of privacy at this cottage. We currently have 2 cottages, with access to 57 acres of property and 900+ feet of shoreline. The second, White Pine Vista Cottage, is over 300 feet away and we left a buffer of brush in between the cottages so that they are private from each other. Enjoy your vacation on beautiful Lake Manitou. Great swimming, boating and fishing. Boat ramp 5 min away.
This cottage has a spectacular view on the spacious deck and boat dock. Listen to the loons and watch the eagles soar over this magnificent lake. Crystal clear water to enjoy swimming and fishing or just lounge on the dock. Lake Manitou is the largest lake on the island and it offers great fishing for perch, bass, pike and lake trout.
Located on a private Cresent off Rockville Rd.
  • Kelly was a great host! Kelly was very quick to answer questions and give us check-in instructions. The cottage appeared as advertised and was clean, well-maintained, and had everything we needed for a relaxing and peaceful weekend. We comfortably slept 5 adults, and there was plenty of room to lounge around. The cottage is close to a few hiking trails, and we visited Bridal Veil Falls and Kagawong as an outing. I would rent this cottage again, and would recommend it! Thanks Kelly!

  • The cottage is well equipped and is situated right on the shore of lake Manitou. Upon our arrival we were warmly greeted by Kelly, who gave us additional information regarding the surroundings. Everything was super clean and even better than described! If the distance wasn't so great we would surely come again... ;-)

    Daniel2019-09-03T00:00:00Z
  • A beautiful, peaceful and picturesque property. Very comfortable and clean inside. Laid out well with bedrooms and bathrooms close to each other. Kelly was friendly and helpful and easy to talk get a hold of. Ready with firewood or to answer a question within minutes. Our family had the most wonderful time. Would highly recommend.

    Lindsay2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was so beautiful. It was cozy and sparkling clean! The deck that over looks the lake is spectacular! You could spend hours on there listening to the loons; talking in the morning over coffee or relaxing in the evening with a glass of wine. The hosts are the most inviting and friendly people, they make you feel right at home. We had a wonderful time here and highly recommend this place!!!!

  • If you’re thinking of booking it... do it! The view and location is amazing and the cottage was in great shape and super clean. It had everything you needed and then some! There are a lot of little touches that went into the cottage that made our stay more relaxing. I would definitely book again.

  • Staying at Janet's cottage was a wonderful experience. It has a scenic view of the lake with access to a canoe. Janet was a warm host and welcomed us with fresh homemade bread and jam. She also had great recommendations on nearby trails to check out. Would definitely stay again.

    Archana2019-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • Janet made us feel really welcome and the accommodation is in a beautiful and peaceful setting on the lake front. A canoe was available to take a trip on the lake where we enjoyed the spectacular sunset.

    Eric2019-09-25T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay very much! There is a beach steps from the cottage and we were able to use the canoe to explore the lake. It’s centrally located with easy access to shops, etc. The cottage itself is fully outfitted with everything you need for a holiday — kitchen, BBQ, firepit. Janet was a kind host and helped us to get the most out of our vacation on Manitoulin Island. We’d definitely recommend this location and Janet’s hospitality.

The family room has a 46″ smart TV hooked to a satellite receiver with movie & sports packages, DVD player (with DVDs on site), stereo, and Microsoft XBox (with a collection of popular video games). Washer and Dryer on site. Basically all the amenities of home in a private setting (but only 10 minutes from town). There are games, puzzles, many books (some about the area), lawn chairs/patio chairs, picnic tables, sandbox, horseshoe pits, a canoe, quite a number of things to help you enjoy your stay. A secluded 3 bedroom cottage with over 600 feet of lakefront. There are actually 2 cottages, that rent out separately, on over 55 acres of land. We do not rent out both cottages to the same group of people as we've had problems doing this in the past. The cottage is on a small bay, known as Patterson Bay, on a fairly large lake called Lake Kagawong. Lake Kagawong is the 2nd largest lake on Manitoulin Island. It takes about one hour to drive around the lake. Manitoulin Island has over 100 lakes and is a gorgeous example of how beautiful Ontario is. The two cottages are private from each other, about a city block apart, with trees left in between for privacy. This cottage is tucked a little further back from the lake (about 200 feet). There is a large dock at this cottage. There is room to park 10+ vehicles in the parking area. The property consists of about 1/2 acre of lawn around the cottage. Out in front of that is the lake, limestone shoreline (the closest public sandy beach is in Gore Bay about 15 minutes away) with trees, an open field to the east, cedar forest, mixed forest finish off the property. There is a path through the bush on the property where we’ve seen a fair bit of Ontario wildlife. There is a bonfire area, a sand box, horse shoe pits, washline. The cottage is called White Pine Vista because of the towering white pines (fairly unusual to the island) out front of the cottage. We do NOT allow parties at this property.

  • The place is great, with all the modern amenities you need, while also providing the isolation you're looking for. The lake is right by the cottage and provides a stunning backdrop. Welcome to Manitoulin Permaculture! We are an eclectic community of infectiously warm and welcoming humans that are exploring ways of living that nurture each other and the land we share. We recently created a private, lakeside "glamping" space for guests. A queen bed with linens and bedding is provided for your stay. There are shared composting toilets a short walk from the tent.
The plusses: - the space is beautiful and you'll have a wide open view of the gardens and the western tree lined sunset every night right from your door - the frogs will sing you to sleep The minuses: - the tent is close to the community kitchen which serves as the main meeting point for our community during dinners. You can choose your level of interaction with the others here. There is a considerable amount of wildlife on the property or passing through. You may find yourself sharing a pathway with a skunk or porcupine, encounter snakes, frogs, turtles, and toads, with many birds coming and going.
  • Thank you for the warm welcome. I had an amazing time, watching stars, sharing communal dinner and listening to the guitar. Loved it!

  • Justin, his mom, and crew were great hosts. The property is very unique with a lot of interesting projects happening in the area od sustainability. The location was perfect for exploring Manitoulin Island, the bed was comfy, and evrything was top notch. Highly recommended!

  • This permaculture community is a real gem for anyone yearning a simple yet connected lifestyle. I especially am grateful that the hosts walk the walk consistently - there was free locally grown dinner with mostly certified organic ingredients. Inspiring!

    Kristine2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Justin’s space is truly one of a kind and pictures just don’t do this property justice. The community of individuals living and visiting at Manitoulin Permaculture were instantly welcoming to my girlfriend and I. They offered us dinner when we arrived and greeted us in the morning with breakfast. The tent itself was a very spacious and comfortable environment. I could say so many good things about Justin’s property... he has really thought of everything from a sauna to the outdoor kitchen, this place has it all. The only negative thing I would have to say is that we only spent one night here and didn’t feel as though we had time to experience everything Manitoulin Permaculture had to offer - we would definitely love to return next summer!

  • A wonderful community of very kind and generous people. Our stay with them was very interesting and enjoyable. The permaculture gardens are out standing and Justin’s creativity is reflected throughout the entire property. We would stay there again in a heart beat! Isaac & Anita

  • We arrived late at night everything was dark outside and we found our tent. In the morning we woke up in the middle of a “playground”. We loved the atmosphere and would’ve loved to stay longer!

  • Justin's place is fantastic for those looking for great hospitality, friendly people all around a unique stay. The accommodation, invites to dinner, views, garden and nearby hikes exceeded our expectations. Glamping at its best!
