The Stables is situated within the grounds of the old Cardean Woodland. It's ideally placed for exploring the local countryside: walking or cycling in the Angus Glens and the Perthshire hills, or skiing in Glenshee or golfing in world renown courses.
We consider The Stables to provide good value, high quality short term rental accommodation. Are you looking for luxury, stylish self-catering holiday accommodation in Perthshire / Tayside? Would you like a taste of real rural living with the comfort and the service of a hotel, in the luxuriously furnished surroundings of a converted barn with all the facilities you expect? The Stables offers the perfect retreat for romantic couples, families and friends wanting both peace and quiet as well as easy access to either Perth or Dundee or Glenshee. Are you working in the Dundee or Perth areas for a few nights, several weeks or even longer? Would you like the space, comfort and convenience of a home in a beautiful rural location? At The Stables, you can enjoy a home-like furnished apartment that can cost less per night than a hotel. The Stables is self-contained luxurious holiday self-catering cottage which sleeps 6 adults. It has a luxurious open-planned kitchen dining and sitting area, 3 modern en-suite bedrooms, a well provisioned gym and a large walled garden area with barbecue for dining al fresco. The Stables truly offers the highest standard of attention to detail, comfort, fittings, furnishings, design and service.
Originally part of Cardean Estate and dating from about 1859, the Stables and its coach house were converted into residential accommodation in 2000. Some of the adjoining barns were demolished and a walled garden was created in their place. The house has lots of traditional character while also being bright and comfortable.
  • We enjoyed a lovely weekend away with friends. Excellent facilities, all the kitchen utensils you could need, lovely hot powerful showers, an impressively kitted out home gym and very lovely hosts. Will definitely be recommending this place.

  • The cottage is a well-thought out renovation that maximises the amenity of the 3 bedrooms - each with its own ensuite. Wishing we had more time to explore the local area, there its quite a bit of history, with Roman bridges and fields with lots of pheasants wondering around.

Welcome to Sunnyhall Cottage Bothy! The Bothy is a small, but perfectly formed, newly renovated residence. Set in the beautiful area of Lundie, this little dwelling is full of charm and personality. It sits alongside our own cottage so as well as having the privacy of your own self catering living space, there is usually someone about should you have any questions or require any assistance. The setting is tranquil, with beautiful walks but it is also within easy reach of Dundee and Perth.
The Bothy is at the end of a private road so there is no passing traffic and plenty car parking space. We do have dogs and they are often just out and about working away with us. We have three Cocker Spaniels (very friendly) and two Pyrenean Sheepdogs (fairly timid but they can bark at strangers). We welcome dogs but as this is a very small house, we would prefer you to provide us with details prior to booking. The Bothy has a comfortable living space/kitchen area, complete with a wood burner, TV, cooker/microwave and fridge freezer. There is a large shower area and the bedroom has a comfortable king size bed. There is a small storage room, perfect for boots and jackets and next to the central heating boiler, just in case you need to dry anything off. There is no washing machine but our own machine can be used on request. WiFi is now available in The Bothy.
This is a very special area, close to town yet off the beaten track. Wildlife is literally on our doorstep. We regularly see roe deer, red squirrels and ospreys in the fields, woodland and loch areas. In this area there is something for all. Go walking in the surrounding area or the beautiful Angus Glens. Glamis Castle and grounds are a short drive away. Visit attractions in Dundee such as the V & A, the RRS Discovery or Verdant Works. Visit Broughty Ferry and enjoy traditional music at The Fisherman’s Tavern on a Thursday evening, enjoy one of the many restaurants or indulge in fish and chips or ice cream sitting by the beach. For the golfing enthusiast, there are many courses in the area. The championship courses at Carnoustie, St Andrews and Gleneagles are all within reach by car. Auchterhouse Country sports is a five minute drive away and offers Clay Pigeon Shooting, Quad Bike Trecks and Archery. Information on local attractions and amenities will be in The Bothy.
  • Great location, amazing bothy which is fully equipped. We loved the wood burning fire.. made the bothy so cosy. Great walks in surrounding areas and ideal area for doggies.

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Bothy. We were welcomed by a roaring fire, and a stunning home. It’s not often you can find a dog friendly property decorated to such a high standard. The property is incredibly beautiful. The surroundings were beautiful and our dog loved the walks available from the door step. Sandy and Sheona were incredibly helpful and welcoming. And we loved the little touches such as milk, teas and coffees etc. Thank you so much.

A cosy, charming house that is welcoming and comfortable. There is a lovely rural feel to the house whilst it is situated in a small town and handy to amenities. Tastefully furnished living areas include a spacious new fitted kitchen/dining room with modern appliances. The small garden provides a sheltered and private outdoor space. The view from the east facing windows is straight onto the Alyth Burn and childrens' play park, and the local shops are easily accessed in minutes.
The house is full of vintage charm. It is over 200 years old and we have tried to keep much of the original charm whilst updating it to be comfortable for 21st century relaxing. There is space for 9 people as long as you are happy to occasionally queue for access to the single bathroom. The kitchen is perfect for sociable evenings and the living room has ample space for stretching out after a long walk. We have recently fitted a wood burning stove in the sitting room, which adds an extra element of comfort and cosiness. The ambience in the house is peaceful and it works its charming personality on all who stay. There are shabby chic elements. The bedroom floors are uneven with various surfaces. Slippers are recommended. Please note that Endrigg is situated in a quiet residential area. It is not a party venue, and we request that guests refrain from making excessive noise outside after 10:00 PM
The house is sited in the centre of Alyth which is a busy and traditional Perthshire village. The play park is at the rear of the house. There are butcher's, baker's and small supermarkets within walking distance as well as pubs serving good food. The situation gives you the best of village convenience with rural hills and gorgeous walks just outside the village.
  • Our time in Alyth was definitely a high point of our trip. We enjoyed the location of the home and the quietness of the town. The local pub was a recommendation and the Sunday night live music was a treat! The park across the burn was entertaining, as the people were constantly changing - from little kids to teens and dog walkers. LOVED IT! This is a big home with plenty of space to relax. The wood stove took the September chill out of the air and made for a relaxing way to wind down from a busy day. Being able to do laundry was an unexpected bonus. This property has everything a large group would require. A perfect "home base" as you explore. Jim & Lisa September 2019

  • This is a great house for a family holiday with nice comfortable accommodation, a big well equipped kitchen and lovely comfy sitting room. The beds are all comfy, it’s clean and not too perfect which makes it relaxing - the slightly shabby but charming decor makes it a nice easy place to be. It’s also in a great location with shops, chip shop and pubs round the corner - but it’s down a side street with a burn running behind it so very peaceful too. Alyth and the surrounding area are lovely - lots to do in the region including mountain bike hire and a great network of off road routes to explore. Would thoroughly recommend this place!

We are situated in a peaceful, rural setting of an historic walled garden with views of the Sidlaws and Grampians. My husband and I are retired and our family live around the UK but we love living near Perth and Dundee in the beautiful Vale of Strathmore. There is much to do and see. We like the outdoors, opera, ballet travelling and art and antiques. We also enjoy working in our garden and having people to stay.
The bedroom is in a converted potting shed of the walled garden but it is attached to the house giving a private space for our guests. The bedroom with a king size double bed is accessed by a staircase from a private sitting room. There is an ensuite shower room. TV and free WiFi A private entrance, parking in the drive, toiletries and hair dryer, iron on request. We are able to provide shelter for bikes. Safety features: smoke detector, first aid kit, fire extinguisher.
Good footpaths and quiet minor roads for walking and cycling from the house. Attractions nearby: Scone Palace, Blair Castle and Glamis Castke, galleries, museums in Dundee and Perth, antiques centres and theatres. Some of Scotland's best golf courses are within a few minutes drive and the Gleneagles Hotel with it's golf and shooting school is 1 hour from here,

  • Our stay at Margaret was just perfect. We had in addition to the bedroom a living room and a private bathroom. The decor is typical, very good taste and the cleanliness is irreproachable. Margaret brings a special care to breakfast (homemade jams and local products), we feasted. When we arrived, Margaret very kindly called a restaurant to book us a table. For your kindness and your warm welcome, we thank you Margaret.

  • Margaret's beautiful home was a 7-star-experience. We could not expect anything better. The rooms were excellent. We had our own bedroom, bathroom and sitting room, all located in an annex of the house. Margaret reccommend us to dine at an inn located in the neighbouring village of Ardler, about a mile walk away. This was a fine experience. Next morning we received a very tasty and great breakfast, before we continued our journey further on. Most reccomended!

  • It was an outstanding experience and an amazing hospitality. The breakfast was delicious and Karen and John are very helpful. Definitely a good place to stay!

  • Being hosted by Karen and John is like visiting family, even for one night, and rushing on the morning as we were! We felt immediately at ease, and we were very glad that they accepted to share their warm home with us. The house is newly renovated, lovely decoration, simple and subtile at the same time. The room was just perfect, enormous and comfy bed, small thoughtful details like fresh fruits, tea, and travel kit, view on the garden and the countryside. The breakfast was one of the best we tasted in Scotland, the hospitality of them both is remarquable. We can’t wait coming back and take more time at Braeburn! We wish them a lot of success in their project! More than recommended address, worth making a detour!

  • It would be impossible to overstate Karen and John's hospitality, kindness and generosity. We truly enjoyed chatting with them in their charming dining room. The room and breakfast were impeccable. If you're visiting Perthshire or walking the cateran trail, there is no better place to stay!

Birnie Cottage has a private garden, an open fire and woodland walks, situated between Kirriemuir and Blairgowrie - an ideal location for touring the beautiful counties of Perthshire and Angus, and beyond. Birnie is pet friendly and your canine companions stay free of charge. The cottage also has its own social media page to keep you up to date with what's going on locally.
The kitchen is well equipped and has an old fashioned theme, mindful of the original use as a gardener's cottage for nearby Birnie House (the home of the owner - willing, if available, to give advice about where to go and what to see in the area). When the cottage was totally overhauled, great care was taken to retain the original 1930s character. Apart from the cottage itself having a private garden, and it’s own resident red squirrels, visitors are welcome to walk in the woods attached to the house, where you may spot some red deer. The house itself does have its own private garden. Various games, books and dvds are available and activities in the surrounding area abound; enough to satisfy any age of visitor! Dogs are also welcome but not on the beds or sofas! An added quirky feature is a nuclear bomb shelter in the grounds - a relic of the Cold War of the 1970s!
Walking: The CATERAN TRAIL is a walking route full of breathtaking landscapes with a wide range of changing terrain that should suit long distance walkers of any age. Situated on the southern end of the Highlands in the Heart of Perthshire and the Angus Glens this route provides the walker with a true feel of the Scottish landscape and offers a glimpse of the lifestyle of the Caterans in the 15th to 17th centuries. The DEN OF ALYTH has several walks of varying length through the deep, shady glen of the Alyth Burn amongst mixed open woodland. As well as being a quiet place to walk, the Den is a place to rest, picnic and watch the varied wildlife. Oak, ash and birch trees are home to small birds like tree creepers and great tits, while dippers and grey wagtails live by the waterside. If you walk around AULD ALYTH or the quiet country roads leading to Glenisla and the Angus Glens, the views are lovely. Also in the area is the waterfall, REEKIE LYNN, on the way to PEEL FARM. Nature: GLEN ISLA is one of the more significant and the most westerly of the Angus Glens, a wide valley in the southern Grampians, between Glen Shee and Glen Prosen. The River Isla flows south and then southeast into the Valley of Strathmore. LINTRATHEN reservoir is a nature reserve in the Braes of Angus, situated at the southern end of Glen Isla, 4 miles (6 km) northeast of Alyth. Surrounded by farmland, the loch is visited by large numbers of wildfowl, wintering geese, whooper swans and the occasional osprey. LOCH OF KINNORDY, nearer Kirriemuir, is a shallow loch set in a natural basin which attracts all sorts of wildfowl and is open from dawn to dusk. Near Dunkeld, LOCH OF LOWES is all about ospreys. From April to September a pair of ospreys usually breed here and there is an observation hide just 150m from their nest, as well as a camera so visitors can watch close up pictures of the birds. The reserve covers 95 hectares of the loch, shoreline and surrounding woodland. Peter Pan: The Peter Pan House in Kirriemuir is the birthplace of J M Barrie who is best known for his wonderfully enchanting story of the boy who never grew up.. His childhood house is equally as delightful and visitors have a rare privilege to see where he grew up and step into the rooms where he spent his childhood can and even go into the wash room that is said to be the inspiration for his Wendy House and was his first theatre during his childhood. The narrow streets of Kirriemuir are lined with traditional red sandstone houses, friendly shops and galleries, interesting museums, cosy cafes and welcoming pubs, not to mention some of the best ice cream in Tayside. From the 'Camera Obscura' you can enjoy panoramic views of the countryside and southern slopes of the Grampians. Kirriemuir, which has lost none of its charm, is central for explorations of the beautiful Braes of Angus - all penetrating deep into the lonely eastern Grampian mountains.

  • This cottage is absolutely lovely. what a wonderful location and to have a forest on your doorstep is amazing. So tranquil yet still near enough to the town of Blairgowrie and Couper Angus. you can see much of Scotland from this location .. St Andrews a mere hour away .. driving through fabulous countryside ....as was Pitlochery on the other side of Blairgowrie. it's easy enough to get to Edinburgh as well so if you're looking for something that is peaceful and lovely and in the countryside, this home is perfect. I only experienced this home at the start of winter but how lovely to come back from a day out sightseeing and light the fire.. snug.!! now if I could find a handsome Scottish man for the next trip i would never leave 😂

Easter Bendochy House is a modern secluded country house set in its own extensive grounds in the heart of Perthshire accommodating 14 guests in total. Particular highlights are: • Cinema room • Hot tub • Games room with full size snooker table • Wood burning stoves • AGA and separate electric oven • Three public rooms in the main house • Extensive enclosed gardens with children’s play equipment • Roof terrace with panoramic views
The house is arranged in an L-shape around a courtyard area. The main house sleeps 8 (2 kingsize bedrooms, 2 twin rooms). Adjacent to the main house (and part of the same building) are two further apartments – Sidlaws sleeps 4 (1 kingsize bedroom and 1 twin room) and the Bothy sleeps 2 (kingsize bed). The Bothy is next door to the Library and above the Games Room and Cinema Room. Easter Bendochy House is set in 2 acres of gardens, overlooking the Sidlaw Hills and the River Isla. It is 2 miles from Coupar Angus, 4 miles from Blairgowrie, 14 miles from Perth and 16 miles from Dundee. It is centrally located in Scotland and all of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen can be reached in around an hour and a half. Although the house countryside views from all sides, the shops, restaurants and amenities of Blairgowrie and Coupar Angus are both an easy five minute drive away as is the famous Rosemount golf course. There is a large Tesco in Blairgowrie so stocking up on essentials is straightforward. The main house has a large front door, which leads into the large semi circular hall with impressive pillars either side. Steps lead down into the spacious open-plan kitchen/dining room, family room and garden room. All have French doors leading out into the south-facing garden. The large kitchen diner has seating for 14. The kitchen is well equipped with a double butlers sink, granite worktops, AGA and separate electric oven, fridge freezer, dishwasher and microwave. We provide instructions for using the AGA in case you haven’t come across one before but each of the main house and two apartments have their own electric ovens and hobs too. There are log burning stoves in the kitchen, family room and hallway. We provide full instructions if you are not familiar with them and also have a plentiful supply of wood, much of which is sourced from the gardens. We supply you with four large baskets of wood to get you started and more is available to purchase during your stay if needed. There is a separate comfortable family room with a log burning stove. The TV receives all Freesat channels and we also provide guests with access to Netflix. Next to the family room there is a garden room with a cupboard full of board games and toys. French doors open out onto the patio from the kitchen, family room and garden room to an outdoor eating area and hot tub. The enclosed south facing garden is completely private and not overlooked. There is a barbeque area (please bring your own disposal barbeques), as well as a children’s climbing frame, summerhouse and trampoline. A croquet set is available in the summer months. The new hot tub fits 5-6 and is the perfect way to relax. Upstairs there is a gallery library area with a further smaller dining table (for 6) – perfect for afternoon tea. There is also a spacious drawing room with an open fire and double french doors opening out onto a semi circular roof terrace with fabulous views across the countryside and down to the River Isla. The bedrooms in the main house are all on the ground floor. In the east wing, the master bedroom has a king size bed and ensuite with a walk in shower. Next to it is one twin bedroom, also ensuite with a bath with a shower over. In the west wing, there is a large family bathroom with roll top bath and separate shower. There is a twin bedroom and next door a double room with a king size bed. There is also a separate utility area with washing machine, tumble dryer and a spare fridge for those essentials. There is also a pulley clothes dryer. Off the utility room there is a small gym with a running machine and weights. The games room, recently refurbished, consists of a full size snooker table, darts board and table football. Leading off it, there is the cinema room, complete with seven plush reclining seats and surround sound for that full cinema experience. The cinema receives all Freesat channels and plays standard DVDs – we have a selection for you to enjoy but please do bring your favourites. Sidlaws is a spacious two double bedroom apartment which part of an old converted steading and joined onto the main house. The south facing living area has a large window leading to a small balcony with lovely panoramic views across the countryside including the Sidlaw hills and the River Isla. There is a double bedroom with king size bed, a twin room and a shared bathroom with shower over. Sidlaws has its own kitchen and dining facilities so there is no need to go over to the main house if you don’t want to. The kitchen / dining room is equipped with electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. The living area has a flatscreen TV with Freesat channels and DVD player. The Bothy is a very spacious studio apartment which is part of the same steading as Sidlaws. The spacious living area has a kingsize bed, comfortable sofa, an ipod / radio docking station and a flatscreen TV with Freesat channels and DVD player. The main window looks across Easter Bendochy House’s northern gardens with a lovely view over the neighbouring fields. As with Sidlaws, the kitchen / dining room is equipped with electric oven, ceramic hob, microwave, fridge, kettle and toaster. The bathroom has a shower cubicle with power shower. As well as the main garden opposite the house, there are smaller gardens to the front of the property and a woodland and orchard area (two acres in total and all enclosed). The courtyard provides ample parking, and there is storage available for bikes and golf clubs in the garage. There is free wifi throughout Easter Bendochy House, Sidlaws and the Bothy. Staying in the countryside has many advantages but high-speed broadband is not one of them. The speed we get is absolutely fine for internet browsing and emails but, if several guests are streaming videos or gaming at the same time, it will slow down. The main house is heated by a ground source heat pump and much of the electricity needed is supplied by solar panels on the roof. The ground source heat pump is always “on” so the house maintains a constant background temperature of 20C throughout the year. It is not adjustable but with three wood-burning stoves, an open fire and the AGA, there are plenty of options for further heat. Sidlaws and the Bothy both have a traditional oil-fired central heating system which can be more readily turned up or down.
Bendochy is a charming hamlet situated between Coupar Angus and Blairgowrie. The house is on a very quiet road with countryside views all around - but shops are just a 5 minute drive away.
  • This house is fantastic. We were a group of 11 and there is more than enough space. The house is huge! The cinema and games room was a big hit. The main layout is quirky with plenty of living rooms rooms to choose from, however the games room is where we spent most of our time. It's idyllic surroundings make for a peaceful stay. It is nestled in the beautiful countryside but there are shops just a short drive away. The hosts are also very quick to respond which made the whole process of organising our trip very easy. All in all, this house is just perfect for a celebration or larger family/friend gathering.

  • Myself and 6 colleagues work closely with a local client and needed someone a larger number of the team could stay and work late. This house is amazing, the hosts perfect and location idyllic. What was a work trip of long days working ended up being a relaxed team building time too. Will no doubt be back

  • Fabulous house, gorgeous location, has everything you’d want for a lovely break. From the paperwork explaining entry to the house, to a nice welcome pack including tea towels, biscuits and marmalade to just the best facilities it was just an amazing weekend. The cinema is fantastic!! It seats 7 but we carried a sofa through from the games room which allowed all 10 of us to enjoy a movie together. The hot tub was fun! It’s well treated with chemicals so felt clean too! The garden is big! Lovely to sit out in with table and plenty chairs. We had a roaring fire one night and the Aga keeps the kitchen really cosy too. The beds were comfortable and lots of en-suites to keep everyone happy. Plenty parking too. I really have nothing negative to say. The furniture is a mix of old and new stuff together and looks just great! This is a house you won’t forget in a hurry. Fab!

  • We stayed here as we were attending a wedding at the nearby Lands of Loyal hotel and it was the perfect location. The hotel is no more than a 7 minute walk or 2 minute drive. The place was sparkling clean and looks much bigger than the photos. Eileen thoughtfully made sure the heating was on for our arrival so that we would be nice and warm when we got there. Eileen responds so quickly to messages and met us personally on check in to show us around. She provided us with plenty of towels and really nice shower gel in the bathrooms. The location of her place is great if your attending a wedding but also if you want to spend time in Alyth as she is right in the heart of the village and you can walk to nearby pubs and shops. We were very happy with our stay at Eileen’s and can’t recommend it enough. Thank you Eileen.

  • Clean and tidy accommodation. Suited us that it was in the town centre and convenient for everything.

  • Our expectations were exceeded! Alyth is a small, but still a real village. You'll find everything, not just a supermarket but a butcher, baker, Fisch & chips ... everybody is very friendly. Not surprisingly Eilien and William live there. We were received very warm and cordial. We stayed only two days. Eilien and William make sure you nothing comes up short. We took one hike of The Cate Rian Trial and knew soon here we'll be back!

  • The house was ideal for our needs and was exactly like the pictures. Although the garden was bigger than expected or advertised and would be great if we had more time for a bbq. The rooms were a good size and the host was very friendly on arrival and quickly attended to any queries we had. Overall we had a very comfortable stay and the location was ideal for the golf courses at Alyth.

  • A spacious house in an unbeatable location. with a pool would be 10 out of 10. Although I think that there is not as hot as that. A few miles away from the city, to be quiet, so that children play without car danger or anything like that.

  • Just spent 4 night here for Christmas, amazing location the house is much larger than the photos make it look with a massive garden. Also has an open log fire which was brilliant. Sure we will be back in the near future

  • Nice, comfortable and spacious residence. Suitable for at least 8 people with rooms of the right size, with 2 bathrooms (1 with bath and 1 with shower) and a large dining room. Possibility to take advantage of the outdoor garden. Clean rooms and perfectly located in order. It should be borne in mind that in the area you have to travel by car in the distance to the clothes centers. Little phone connection and especially internet though having wi-fi in the house.

  • This is a very comfortable house with all the amenities that you need for a great break. The sofas in the lounge looked new and were a relaxing place to sit. The beds are very comfy and we all slept well here. We were lucky with the weather and made good use of the lovely sheltered bbq area. There was plenty of good quality garden furniture which meant that we spent two fabulous evenings in the large garden. Everything was immaculately clean. We arrived on the first day of picking raspberries on the farm and Lauren and her family kindly brought us freshly picked raspberries every morning. They are definitely the best tasting raspberries I have ever eaten. We had a warm welcome and were assured if we needed anything just to ask. One evening we were a bit concerned that the gas for the bbq might run out and within 5 minutes of texting Lauren a new gas canister was brought over. It is a fabulous place to stay.

  • Very quiet, good views, very spacious house, all right.

    Carlos2017-05-01T00:00:00Z
  • We were welcomed with a bottle of wine. Everything was set out that we needed, the kitchen had everything we needed to cook for our party of 8, and was big. The house was very clean. The hosts were at the end of the phone and quickly came round when we needed them. The dining room had a large table which fit us all with room for more, and a high chair was availabe too. Our rooms were very comfortable, huge beds, and the living room was also very comfortable with an open wood fire. The host pointed out some local amenities and a nice local walk which we took. The only down side from my view was that the walk was accessed by first walking beside a road where the cars were driving fast, but it was not busy and you could not hear any traffic from the house, which is very secluded. In all this is a lovely country getaway home from home suitable for a large group and we would love to come back and would recommend to anyone.
