The market house is a historic gem and is protected as a monument, designated as the first hostel in Saxon Switzerland. The house frames the market square in the reflection of the market church below the castle ruins on the romantic Painter's Way. Vaulted cellar and foundations date back to 1527. The main house was built in 1734 and operated as a relaxation area, a post office and a tavern. In 1850, a massive extension in the classicist style took place.
