Places to stay in Qasigiannguit
Hello :-) Our name is Anda (cook) & Laila (leasure and culture coordinator). We already had Bed&Breakfast in our home many times - we just haven't made an account in AirBnB until one of our guest showed us this website :-) We both talk Greenlandic, Danish & English :) We eat alot of great season food. Come and listen to the whales and icebergs in our balcony made of glass :-) We are looking forward & excited to meet you all :-)
Our house have a beautiful view out to the ocean and islands. We live beside the centrum of the small town. We have many different kind of transport for you to go out in the nature and we even have a hut out in the nature too. We have 4 bedrooms, 2 living rooms, fireplace in the living room, 1 big bathroom, 1 kitchen, 1 balcony and 1 terrace. Every window have great view. We have a big family boat that have 2 bedrooms and the living room can become a bedroom too, so 7 people can sleep in our family boat ''Tuku-Duda''. Also, we have a second boat a speedboat that fit to 5 people. In our hut from salmon bay have 6 beds, great toilet, big kitchen and living room with fireplace. In winter time we have snowmobiles, ATV and sledge as transport :-)
Our neighborhood is quiet and calm. Our house is ''individual'' we don't live in a block but in our own house. You can see our house from town map picture, that we have in our gallery.
  • Fantastic place to stay, thanks to Anda and Laila's amazing hospitality! Best place I've stayed in a long time!

  • Everything was perfect moreover the private boat trip with fish catching.

  • Truly amazing hosts! Everything was excellent; the service, the hospitality and the surroundings. The view is breathtaking - You can see whales from the room!!

  • A real pleasure to stay with Anda and Laila. Everything was excellent; the service, the atmosphere, the hospitality and of course the surroundings. Thank you very much for a lovely stay.

  • I had a great time at Anda & Laila's cozy house in Qasigiannguit. They both welcomed me into their home and it was a great opportunity for me to learn more about the Greenlandic culture. They also provided great tips about hikes in the region and I was even offered something to eat as soon as I arrived in the afternoon! A great experience!

  • I had a great time at Lailas and Andas place. They are very friendly and warmly hosts and you just feel like a member of the family. I experienced a hospitality which you can not find at many places. From the first second I felt at home. I spend three weeks in Greenland but most I learned about greenlandic life I did during my four days with Laila and Anda. They just share their home, their life, their stories, the fire outside. I loved the view to the sea, even if I only saw one whale (should be many more during summertime). There are beautiful hiking trails in Qasigiannguit and this place is really worth to visit. Not touristic so far so you can experience more of the greenlandic life than in Ilulissat for example. If you plan to visit Disko Bay, you should not miss this place : )

  • Staying a few days with Anda and Laila in their home was a real delight, and a high point of more than three weeks I spent traveling and exploring Greenland. They were extremely welcoming, friendly and warm..and eager share their home and stories of life in Greenland (and Denmark). If you're looking for a genuinely unique travel experience that is -not- just another bland hotel, and not just another empty house/apartment (with an absentee owner) for which you just get a key, I can highly recommend staying with Anda and Laila. Their comfortable and well-equipped home is about a 5-minute walk from the Disko Line ferry dock, and offers wonderful views out to Disko Bay. There are tons of day hikes that begin at the edge of town, (10 mins away) ranging from an hour or so, to multi-day adventures. Trails are well-marked and its hard to get lost. Visiting and talking over meals, etc, with Anda and Laila, I learned a lot about the Greenlandic way of life, and i got to know two really interesting people! I met some of their extended family, who were also super interesting. If you're looking for lodging that offers mints on pillows and tiny bottles of shampoo, you're probably not headed to Qasigiannguit Greenland anyway. Just understand that this a remote part of the world, set your expectations accordingly, keep an open mind, and you will have a terrific time staying with Anda and Laila. Highly recommended!

  • Wonderful, truly lovely people! I can't even begin to decribe how worthwhile my two day detour to Qasigiannguit was! The trip from Illulisat takes you past the Ice Fjord and into this lovely little town and is well worth the detour! Be prepared for warm evenings by the fire, learning about Greenlandic history and culture, swapping travel stories and meeting some more locals to spin a yarn or two, maybe even sampling some local food! The place is very clean and tidy and has all the facilities you may need, but it is also a family home so you must expect to be around Anda and Laila while they are home (no private kitchen or living room). This is the place for the people who want to experience real Greenlandic life! When I booked I was looking for accommodation in Illulisat, which for some reason Airbnb thinks Illulisat and Qasigiannguit are in the same place (they are definitely not). Never the less a trip well worth the detour for a charming and warm slice of local Greenlandic life (also you can totally see whales from their windows!!!) Thank you Anda and Laila! I really hope I can come back and stay with you again!

  • Mike and his family are wonderful hosts and we felt very welcome in their cosy home. We were fortunate enough to be treated to a delicious home-cooked dinner. The house is close to the lake and other walking trails. Qasigiannguit is a hidden gem of a town. "Qujanaq" for a great stay.

  • Lovely house with plenty of space. Everything worked as it should. The house is close to the trails and generally fine distance to everything. Helpful host, quick to respond and nice to have Mike's dad in the vicinity while Mike and family were on vacation. The town is close to beautiful scenery

  • Mike took us out for a boat Ride into the fjords with his own boat to spot some whales, that we have seen. He knows a lot about the area and showed us his sledge dogs. The sleepingroom is located on the first floor in his house. His wive and childeren are lovely.
