Places to stay in Redesdale
Farmer Smith Estate is a boutique vineyard/property in the picturesque wine-growing region of Heathcote, Victoria. Set on 100 acres of rolling hills, located near the historic township of Redesdale, it is an escape to the country like no other. Vineyard, fruit trees and farm animals set the scene for the two holiday retreats - Sunset & Sunrise. Magical! Pet friendly (one Dog only T&C's apply) retreat with 360 degree views!
Farmer Smith Estate is located 1 hr from Melbourne airport and is a beautiful example of an operating vineyard with stunning views, undulating hills, peace and serenity. Pet friendly (one Dog only T&C's apply), this is the ideal estate to relax for a weekend (or more) with all the comforts of home. Two retreats Sunset & Sunrise will surprise and delight. Sunset Retreat with it's incredible views of the hills and amazing sunsets comprises a large bedroom with ensuite bathroom, two queen size beds, fully appointed kitchen, dining area, lounge area and fireplace for those wintery days or nights. The newly installed outdoor spa at sunset is incredible. Netflix and Wi-fi available. Sunrise (our second retreat) is a stunning one bedroom retreat, overlooking the vineyard, king size and double bed, fully appointed kitchen, dining area, lounge area and fireplace. The outdoor spa just adds to the appeal. Our other retreat is called Farmer Smith Estate - Sunrise and can be found here on Airbnb: https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/22294962 During the COVID-19 impact, we are open and trading as normal.  As our vineyard is situated in a remote area of Victoria, there is virtually no person-to-person contact as our retreats are private that only you will have access to in your time here. Our bookings are predominantly Friday's though to Sunday so there's typically a gap of 3-4 days between guests staying. We have increased our cleaning protocols to include multiple sanitations of high 'touch points' and our cleaning includes extra precautions and thorough wipe downs of all surfaces.  We are experiencing minor shortages in supplies, however where possible, we aim to continue providing our complimentary guest Welcome Pack.  All of our linen is cleaned by a professional, commercial laundry service that is based in Kyneton. At this stage, there are no known issues in our small, regional community and  thanks to this wonderful, fresh country air, Lisa and Wayne are both in good health.
Farmer Smith Estate is located near historic Redesdale (which has a hotel and store). The property is rural and is located within 20 - 40 minute drives to: Heathcote, Macedon and Bendigo region vineyards; Mysterious Hanging Rock; Historic Castlemaine; Bendigo Art Galleries and Goldfields; Kyneton's notable restaurants and great shopping; Incredible Turpins Falls in Langley; Lake Eppalock
  • Such an amazing Airbnb, will definitely be back again :)

  • The scenery is unreal! The villa is very stylish and has everything you need, was a super relaxing stay.

  • Wonderful wonderful place, clean, spacious, scenic and beautifully styled. For those whom like to cook, kitchen is very well equipped!!

    Michelle2019-11-30T00:00:00Z
  • What a treat!! Cannot recommend enough! The sunset view room was perfect for our weekend getaway. The place was very spacious and clean with a fully self contained kitchen and everything else you’d expect to find in your own home. Lisa also had some breakfast supplies provided which was a nice touch and handy not having to leave the premises. The views were incredible, rolling hills and the surroundings. We can’t wait to come back :)

    Alina2019-11-24T00:00:00Z
  • Lisa's place is lovely - views are spectacular and we had a very comfortable stay. Would definitely be back!

    Jeevi2019-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • The air bnb advert for Lisa property really doesn’t do it justice. The property is absolutely stunning with the most amazing views over the hills and the stars at night! It was bliss sitting out in the spa watching the sunset even if the weather wasn’t amazing. There are so many little touches throughout but my favourite had to be the real log fire which kept the place toasty warm. Firewood was made available for free! The complimentary bottle of wine on arrival was also lovely and went down a treat! 100% would stay again and plan on coming back soon!

    Jon2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Absolutely incredible place! The farmland is amazing with cute animals to watch grazing. It’s the most relaxing place and the spa is great!

Redesdale is a wonderful little country town with everything you need at hand to make your stay comfortable and relaxed. A,cafe, a pub and a general store all in walking distance from the cottage. The cottage is lovely and light filled, charmingly decorated with modern conviniences. Beautiful views of the surrounding area and friendly locals to offer advice and great food if you choose to eat at their venues. This place is a gem and just a short drive from Melbourne.
The house offers old world charm with all the modern conviniences. For the kiddies there is a springfree trampoline, play equipment and plenty of room to run around in. A BBq on the back porch, hammock to relax in. Claw foot bath to soak in. An outside campfire to sit around and take in the amazing star filled nights. Plenty of seating for entertaining. Although the house has wonderful log fire heating there is also a split system heating unit to warm or cool house down. Or open the doors and let the air flow through. Being so close to Eppolock, if you are into jet skiing or boating the lake is full and very quiet and serene. If you are into cycling the country roads offer a wide area to enjoy the beautiful scenery. National parks allow for dirt bikes. And Kyenton, Heathcote, Castlemaine, Bendigo are all short drives away. The heathcote winery district offers many celler doors. Everyone is friendly and up for a chat.
  • Really, a magical place. Our favourite parts were sitting on the back verandah at twilight, looking out over the rolling hills, speckled with grey sheep and wheeling cockatoos. The fire. The bath. Beers at the Redesdale pub. Exceptional host to boot.

    Myfanwy2020-01-20T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful time in Redesdale. The location of the house is perfect walking distance to the pub. The place is big enough to accommodate 5 adults and 2 dogs.

    Fiona2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely place. Away from it all but with a brilliant pub & cafe right there. Only 20 mins either way from wonderful towns like Kyneton and Heathcote. Great garden for the dogs and kids too. Too much phone connection with Telstra and Optus for my liking but we went to get away. Most people would appreciate the service I imagine. Will come back in winter next time and try out that fire place!

  • Great stay, very easy

    Daniel2019-12-15T00:00:00Z
  • We loved Sally's cottage. We sadly only had a brief stay. It was a great blend of historic cottage with modern comforts and stylishly decorated. The bed was comfortable, shower great and check in was straight forward. It had a nice outlook on one side over a historic stone church amd was set back from the main road so quiet.

    Donna2019-12-07T00:00:00Z
  • Clean, quiet, comfortable, full kitchen with everything you need. lovely views, the sheep came to visit next door. great place for kids, heaps of space and easy to get to. thanks Sally :) So close to the cafe, which was lovely for breakfast and coffee. the food at the pub was awesome, best parma. thanks Sally :)

  • Gorgeous accommodation on a beautiful property. Perfect for a couples weekend away! The spa is such a nice touch! Two nights was not enough!

    Kristen2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Thank you for allowing us to enjoy your space on the hill. We felt completely recharged by that view and all the little touches that made our break perfect. I would definitely recommend you go and stay if you need to switch off from City life and enjoy that absolute peace and quite with everything you could possibly need.

    Mel2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Everything about this place is perfect. It is immaculately kept, has everything you could need. The location is unbelievably peaceful and we loved the spa! We will absolutely return!

    Laura2019-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Book this accommodation! The location is gorgeous and the view from the spa is unbeatable. The huge, well-equipped kitchen is also a massive plus if you're looking to make the most of your stay by spending a few nights in curled up by the fire :)

  • Our stay at Farmer Smith Estate was nothing short of incredible. The views from the residence were breathtaking, especially at sunrise and sunset. The remoteness of the property was exactly what we needed to relax and recharge our batteries. It was a beautiful retreat; very clean, modern, and private. The treats on arrival were most welcome - especially the estate wine. This will be a yearly (at least) venture spot. I can't recommend this experience highly enough. Lisa and Wayne were great hosts, easy to contact and very helpful.

    James2019-10-31T00:00:00Z
  • Really quiet and relaxing place. Views from the spa are great. And the Shiraz was very good.

    Jamie2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Needed a relaxing girls getaway and thats what we got! This property was stunning. Sitting in the spa as the sun set looking over the beautiful surrounds, coming inside to enjoy the remainder of the night in front of the fireplace. Perfect hospitality from Lisa. I can't wait to come back.

  • Kate was very hospitable and extremely knowledgeable of the local area, we had an incredible stay and would highly recommend to all types of travellers!

    Brad2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Such an amazing place and host. Lots of thought into making our weekend amazing. Kate is an amazing ambassador for all the local places and goodies. She helped us map out a day trip with wineries and had push bikes that we used to get into town and back. We can’t wait to go back with more to explore.

    Linda2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage was absolutely beautiful. Kate has thought of everything a guest might need, from bikes to an espresso machine to a soda stream etc etc etc. The bed was extremely comfortable. We were visited by a kangaroo both mornings! We enjoyed walking into town for dinner and also relaxing in the beautiful spaces available at the cottage. We highly recommend this place, you won’t be disappointed.

    Marnie2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is cozy, beautiful and really well located. The details were superb and we could not get tired of the gorgeous garden views in the morning sun. What makes this place even more amazing is Kate's outstanding hospitality. We were surprised by such a warm welcome and all the tips and recommendations Kate had available for us. It was an amazing stay and we can't wait to go back! Thanks Kate!

    Cibele2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Most certainly worth a visit, nice central location in Heathcote close to wineries, a brewery in Heathcote and not far from Bendigo. Amazing bike track from Heathcote to Bendigo for those that cycle. Place is perfect for short term getaways, clean and stunning hospitality from Kate.

    William2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • We've been to Heathcote several times now in the last five years but have never come across Kate's property now. And we are so glad that we have. The Cottage is such a beautiful space, perfect for a couple and it comes with everything you could possibly want - board games, a lovely reading area, comfortable bed, television that comes with a Bose soundbar, great insulation and the list goes on and on. The bonus for us was being able to enjoy the local flora - an eco-system painstakenly designed by Kate and family - which then attracted many local fauna. And lest you think it's a far-flung location from my description, The Cottage is a 3-5 minute drive from the Heathcote city centre. We loved it and we would head back in a heartbeat.

    Sinead2020-02-15T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our short stay and would like to say Thank-you. The accommodation was just beautiful. so clean and and so relaxing and we loved the special little touches to the room, fresh flowers, milk, tea, coffee and tim tams (the kids thoroughly enjoyed them!) Unfortunately for us due to our stay being for the Bendigo basketball tournament and being back and forward from the courts made our stay at your accommodation a quick one, we would have loved to stay longer and enjoyed the place more. The pool and spa was just wonderful and so refreshing after a long day out at the basketball courts. The boys loved having a hit of tennis and also loved visiting the horses early in the morning before we headed off to our basketball games. The hospitality was amazing and both David and Lynette were very welcoming. our first impressions when driving up the driveway was wow! this place looks beautiful, and that it was. We can't thank David and Lynette enough for having us stay. We definitely recommend their accommodation to anyone looking to stay in the area. Thanks again David and Lynette x

  • Stayed for two nights over the weekend and had a lovely time. Really thoughtful finishing touches such as milk, tea, coffee, biscuits, flowers. The pool and spa were both very clean. The unit was clean and contained all the basic equipment. The house was very quite and peaceful. We would stay there again.

    Natalie2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect home away from home! From the exceptionally warm hospitality shown to us on our arrival, to the lovely home with comfy beds, great aircon and lots of little extra touches, and of course the fabulous pool, spa, tennis court, horses etc.. we could not fault it. We had a fabulous time, will certainly visit again and will recommend to anyone heading to Bendigo region. This one definitely goes on our favourites list. Thank you David and Lynette. You are the perfect example of why I prefer Airbnb when booking a holiday.

Enjoy the peaceful warmth of Noonameena, our 'bush resting place'. 'Noons' is a brand new straw bale luxury home on 20 acres of rural land, river views, easy access to Lake Eppalock and the Heathcote wine region. 'Noons' was built adopting Passive House principles which offers comfortable temperatures all year round, clean, fresh and filtered air throughout the home and is clean, calm and comfortable backdrop for your special stay. Kids are welcome as are your furry 4 legged friends.
'Noons' has been built adopting the energy efficient Passive House principles which means you will enjoy clean, fresh, natural air and stable comfortable temperatures throughout the home. Additional heating and cooling is typically not required in our home which is ventilated 24/7 via a ducted heat recovery system. A Passive home is a particularly comfortable place to be with ours being whisper quiet due to its rural location and thick straw bale external walls. Each bedroom has views of the water and enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding country side.
Access to the property is via bitumen road (10 minutes) from the Redesdale Pub with a ~400 metre gravel driveway to the home. Plenty of parking is available with two spots under cover. We are in a rural area with no neighbours to be seen or heard. Plenty of parking is on site including space for your boat or jet ski.
  • This place is exactly as it looks in the photos. It's very private and secluded. The deck is vast too. What the pictures can't really capture is just the 'depth' or the dimension of the countryside it overlooks - it's been really well positioned with views across the river in one direction and a full view of the sunset in another. Some part of it is always in shade at any given time of the day too regardless of where the sun is. Inside the house (but particularly the living/lounge area) is also really spacious. Kitchen is extremely well equipped. Internet is excellent. Check-in was a snap with a keycode (unfortunately I didn't get to meet John coz I got held up at work and he had to leave before I was going to arrive). For what it's worth, can also recommend the pub lunch at the Redesdale Hotel. John was easy and quick to communicate with and went to quite a bit of trouble to make sure I had lots of info about the area. I don't really know much about the 'passive house' method but it works - outside temps were low at night and high (mid 30s) during some of the days but inside it varied very little over the whole stay. The dog area out the back is also perfectly secure as far as I could tell. Ticks every box!

  • This place is so amazing! It's made for pure relaxation! We spent most of our time sitting on the deck, enjoying a glass of good wine and watching kangaroos, cows, sheep and the stunning view on the lake Eppalock. I would highly recommend this place to everyone who likes to slow down and enjoy the beauty of this region.

  • Beautiful and secluded location, and gorgeous house. We really enjoyed our stay!

  • The family had a wonderful time in this great rural lo action. It was also a great chance to try out a PassiveHaus. So comfortable during a cold winters day, with no heating at all!

The homestead is the quintessential Australian farmhouse and was the centre a large sheep property. Five Gums is the name given to this property when the land was first released by the Government. The home sits in a tight bend on the seasonal Wild Duck Creek, not far from the iconic Wild Duck Creek Estate winery. The pleasures of life here include the creek, tranquility, fresh air, privacy, black nights, stars, beautiful light on the old river red gums.
The room with two single beds in it gives access also to a "sleep out", which is a room constructed on the verandah. This has a double bed in it. The arrangement is suited to parents in the sleep out and their two children in the single beds. The dining and lounge share the same space. There is a separate toilet and hand basin on the verandah outside the kitchen. There is a laundry in its own building outside. The kitchen is equipped with a modern Smeg gas stove and electric oven. There is also a Rayburn wood burning stove and oven, which you are welcome to use with care.
Heathcote's wine industry had its beginnings a long time ago but it is only in the last 15 years or so that it has really matured and expanded. The Heathcote area is good for wine because of the climate and the earth - this is, in places, blessed with Cambrian Greenstone, which is much sought after by wine makers. The iconic Wild Duck Creek estate put the town on the international wine lovers' map some years ago with its Duck Muck blend. Now the big names are here too, like Brown Brothers, but the many small and excellent wineries are what give the two its character. Even the French are here - Chapoutier have tasting room in the main street. The best place to get an idea of the area's wineries is in the tasting room of The Hub, in the main street opposite the National Bank.
  • We had a lovely time at Five Gums. It was secluded and quiet but with lots of space. The country style kitchen was fun and the wood heater kept the place toasty! The veranda out the back was so peaceful, we spent evenings and mornings relaxing with a drink and a book and enjoying nature!

    Phoebe2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great base for exploring Heathcote. Very peaceful, tranquil and private. Lots of wildlife around. Comfy beds and great kitchen! All you need for a pleasant weekend away.

  • Absolutely amazing place. So isolated and quiet! The house itself is a bigger than it looks in the pictures and the property is stunning! Great for early morning walks and exploring! The house is very cosy and has a very comfortable bed! Really appreciated the little dog toy left out for our fur baby too! We loved this place!

  • Wow! What a stunning location and excellent property. The surrounding scenery is breathtaking and a beautiful way to wake up in the morning. The house itself is cosy and very clean. The fire was great to have on the cold winters nights and the bed was very comfortable. We will definitely be back.

  • A beautiful house on a lovely property. We especially enjoyed the huge kitchen and lounging by the fire. A true gem. We will definitely be back.

    Caroline2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautiful, peaceful house in a lovely place - listen to birds, the tawny frogmouth at night, see kangaroos showing off on the high ridge over the creek to the north, sit on the verandah in silence, lounge around in the expansive living area, and there is lots of room for many cooks in the huge kitchen.

Bungalow on productive organic permaculture vegetable and fruit mini-farm bordered by both a river and a creek in a beautiful, quiet location with scenic Turpins Falls and The Cascades nearby, between the cafe-filled towns of Kyneton and Castlemaine.
It is the tranquillity and beauty of this property, with its beautiful garden surrounded by undulating farmland with magnificent gum trees, and with scenic bushland and breathtaking natural features nearby, that makes this a unique experience. The wide range of vegetables and fruits that surround the bungalow, grown intensively by hand and hoe and organic methods only, will be of interest to many guests and add to the uniqueness of your stay here. Generally a couple or a single person stay, but some guests have stayed with a baby, toddler or young child and found the mini-farm an ideal attraction for the kids because of the pigs, chooks, very friendly goats, and two cute bouncy young collie dogs. Many adult guests love the animals too!
Metcalfe is an amazingly quiet, tranquil village considering how close it is to Melbourne - and it is exceptionally beautiful country too, with undulating farms overseen by huge gum trees, and steep hills covered with bush. The breathtaking natural features The Cascades and Turpins Falls are both in Metcalfe, and it is close to Mt Alexander, Black Hill Reserve, and Malmsbury with its botanic gardens and historic viaduct. 15 minutes away is Piper Street in Kyneton with its chef's-hatted restaurants; it's not much further to the historic goldfields towns of Castlemaine, Maldon and Bendigo; and both the Daylesford spa country and the Mt Macedon region, including Hanging Rock and Trentham Falls, are little more than half an hour away. There are many wineries in the region such as Coliban just up the road, and Sutton Grange only ten minutes away. You could drive up to Lake Eppalock or to the Heathcote wine region too. The quiet little hamlet of Metcalfe is positioned at the centre of all the attractions of Central Victoria, so it makes a great place to base your holiday.
  • Well worth staying more than one night. This was what we both needed after a long road trip. Relaxing and enjoying the peace and quiet

    John2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a wonderful time on the mini farm. The garden was amazing and we got to use some of the fresh produce in our home cooked dinner. Rob and Gunilla were both lovely. We also recommend trying their cafe in town which served the best curry using fresh veggies from their farm. Hope to stay again!

    Zanda2020-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Terrific for anyone, like us, who needs some green re-invigoration away from the dull grey of the city. Amazing gardens/farm, a plethora of birds and bees and other animals, and beautiful river very close by. Rob was very welcoming and it was inspiring to see his and Gunilla's self-made life in Metcalfe. I would very happily return.

    Camilla2020-02-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fantastic stay for a weekend away. Awesome garden to explore and super cute dogs. A draw full of DVDs to watch if spending a night in. Highly recommend swimming at nearby Turpin Falls.

  • The cute bungalow was located on an amazing little mini-farm; great location to regional Vic food and wine areas and close to Hanging Rock for the concert that we were heading too! The hosts were lovely, and very accommodating - letting us arrive an hour early!

    Evie2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed here for a night when attending a concert in Hanging Rock. It was perfect for the night, or even a couple of nights as there is a lot to do in the area. Great value. Very cute. Exactly as described. Rob was super helpful and accessible. The farm is really pretty too. Thanks :)

Peaceful and simple just like what we’re hoping for. Our furbaby enjoyed every bit of it as Rob owns 2 well behaved dogs. The place itself is well equipped w all the basics to make the stay wonderful and comfortable. Thanks again!

  • Outstanding service, communication, welcome, location, place etc We were warmly welcome by Max the moment we pulled up in the driveway. We loved that we gave us a grand tour of the place which included history on the building. The location was right i the centre of town. Close to supermarkets, petrol stations, eateries and tourist attractions. We loved that we just walked to dinner! The beds were super comfy with gorgeous linen. We also loved that Max's place was immaculately clean. We loved the extra thoughtful touches such as the boutique soaps, toilet paper ethically sourced (who gives a crap brand), breakfast supplies, bowl of chips on arrival.. etc. A great weekend escape to enjoy the quiet countryside and beauty this country has to offer. Thanks Max!

    Jasmine2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • Max was an outstanding host. His hospitality was second to none, making our stay a very comfortable and a memorable one. Max was very knowledgeable on the history of the house and had embraced the lovely vintage charm of the house with the decor, such a beautiful combination of old and new, and wonderful attention payed to the finer things such as comfortable beds and dreamy linen sheets.... Max had great recommendations for dinning in town. We all enjoyed the generous breakfast fodder he had supplied. Such a treat! Thank you again!

    Chris2020-02-27T00:00:00Z
  • Excellent communication - Taylah responded quickly to our booking that we made only in the afternoon (stayed that night). Very easy check-in with lockbox. Easy parking in driveway. Excellent location - very central! Wonderful value. We happened to stay on a rare hotter night in Bendigo - smaller older style aircon in living area was ok for just us (1 couple) staying as we shut the hall door that separates front 2 bedrooms from the back living area and remaining bedroom (slept in that one). Pantry/fridge/freezer had tea, coffee, sugar, small UHT milks, popcorn, zooper dooper icypoles. Thanks for a great place :-)

Thank you for checking out Locksley Park, the perfect country getaway - a secluded twenty acre property in the heart of the renowned Heathcote wine region. This property is truly special, being surrounded by national park. Locksley Park is completely off-the-grid, running solely off tank water, gas cylinders, solar panels and batteries. Check us out on Instagram @locksley_park
Your dogs are very welcome! We just ask that they do not sleep on beds. There is a massive fenced area surrounding the house with lots of trees and places that they can explore. There are two goats, Samson & Delilah, and two horses, Cowboy & Harley, who will be glad of a pat and a carrot over the fence, but please do not enter their self-contained paddock, or allow your dog(s) in there. Locksley Park was originally a sheep station nicknamed ‘Mundy Gully’. In the 1800s, gold was found in the surrounding hills. Mundy Gully soon became a centre for miners prospecting for gold. If you turn left at the exit of the property and walk into the surrounding hills, you will come across remnants of the old mines. Legend has it that Ned Kelly was once spotted spending a night by the dam whilst on the run from authorities. Locksley Park is well known to Tooborac locals for the fig trees at the entrance of the property. To this day, locals have been known to come and ‘sample’ the seasonal harvest. The 'L' shaped house has cathedral ceilings throughout, with open plan kitchen, meals and large living area. The kitchen has a slow combustion stove with brick surround, stone bench tops and farmhouse sink. The meal and living areas have ample natural light, exposed timber, clawfoot bath in front of a two-sided fireplace. With an abundance of Australian native birds and animals outside your window, Locksley Park is a nature lovers paradise. Locksley Park is located 1 hour from Melbourne and the airport, 10 minutes to Heathcote and 45 minutes to Bendigo.
That’s the best thing about Locksley Park. You are surrounded by national park.
  • Comfortable, clean and peaceful!! A very mindfully built and furnished accommodation.

    Jenni2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • We enjoyed our stay at Robert's off-the-grid house a lot! Despite the fact that you are literally in a forest, everything inside is modern and comfy including a shower with great water pressure. Lots of space, hip design. I was a bit concerned about the battery based on other reviews but in our case, it never went below 95%. One of the pleasant surprises was a great DVD collection with movies from the likes of Hitchcock, Tarantino, Jarmusch, Kubrick and so on - not the typical random mainstream cinema. The selection actually matched my taste with 99% accuracy, I wanted to re-watch every single DVD from the shelf!

    Denis2020-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great location. Really enjoyed the peace and quiet, and the abundant wildlife. The house is interesting and being off-grid added to this. It was a unique experience which I would recommend

    Michelle2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • Had an amazing stay at Robert’s place! The space was amazing and we loved the bathtub in the livingroom, what a fun idea! Watch out for the scorpions tho, we found one of those in the house. Overall had the best time, the house was beautiful and Robert was a great host to us! Definitely want to come back!!

    Kamilla2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Locksley Park. Totally off-grid and in the middle of Australian bush - it's the perfect place to disconnect and unwind. While it is off-grid and you do need to do things like light a fire to use the stove/ cook your dinner, Robert and his team has everything prepared that you would need to make that easy (wood chopped, kindling collected - all neatly stacked just next to the house) Mind you, there is a butan stove top as well, but that is a lot less of an adventure! If you up for walking in nature, you can just step out the driveway and turn left, to wander through the nature reserve. You could also take your bikes into Heathcote and ride along the old Heathcote to Bendigo train line, or even just a short drive away are Turpin Falls, which are marvelous for a quick swim on a hot day! The Tooborac Pub brews their own beer and is quite the spot for people watching, as well as the many many wineries to sample (responsibly ;-)) Heathcote is also quite a substantial town, which really has all the things you may need (gluten free bread, a supermarket) and the cheapest coffee I have had since 1990's. We had a fabulous time - our only complaint is that we wish we were there for longer!

    Lucy2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • Great place

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Locksley Park! Such a private peaceful location with tree views through every window, we felt the relaxed vibe when we walked in. The bed was comfortable, the shower was so lovely, and the bath was a huge hit! Loved that we could bring our dog, she especially enjoyed the abundance of sticks! It was nice watching the horses and goats frolicking in the paddock. Love all the historical rustic charm throughout the house. Communication was excellent too. We cant wait to visit again in the cooler months to try out that beautiful wood burner stove and double sided fireplace. Thanks again Rob! 😚

Lynton Country Cottage - How's the serenity! Situated on 20 acres, half paddocks and half bush block. 20 mins drive from Bendigo CBD, 8kms from shops, service station, café and bistro. The house has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, large undercover BBQ area, front & rear verandahs and accommodating up to 7 guests. AC heating & cooling and a fireplace in the lounge room make the house very cosy. Overlooking a dam, this property is ideal for a quiet relaxing retreat, bike riding or walking.
Lynton Country Cottage is the ideal location for that quiet relaxing retreat type stay with no neighbours nearby. Stroll around the 20 acre property, bike ride the surrounding country lanes, curl up with a good book or just soak up the peaceful ambience on your own private front verandah and enjoy watching the wildlife on the dam. Due to the presence of an unfenced dam close to the house, the property is unsuitable for small children and infants. No smoking on the property, either inside or outside. No outside fires permitted, as the property adjoins a state forest and 1/2 the property is bushy. Regarding the slow combustion fireplace, we will provide firewood and kindling a wheelbarrow full a day, free of charge. For 2 nights we will provide 2 wheelbarrows etc. The fireplace is only to be used when it is cold, from mid autumn to early spring. It is not to be used in summer etc. We don't want guests to collect firewood on the property, only to use what is supplied. We have a large horse paddock and the area is ideal for riding, however the fencing top and middle wire is barbed wire. Our 2 horses love the paddock but not there when guests are present. So if you would like to bring a horse please let us know. Dogs can be brought by prior arrangement, however strictly not permitted in the house.

Lockie Lodge is a fully self contained holiday cottage on a 45acre private property overlooking beautiful Lake Eppalock. The land juts into the lake and is surrounded by water on three sides. Perfect for safe swimming, water sports, nature walks etc. Property has lots of "Aussie" animal visitors - you're sure to see a pack of kangaroos bouncing around at dawn and dusk. Keep an eye out for koalas and wombats too.
It's the perfect place for an Australian countryside experience. Less than 2 hours from Melbourne.
The property is very isolated and a true "Aussie countryside" experience. The area is very rural and unpopulated, therefore the local wildlife are truly "wild". Our holiday home is also located on the property which may be occupied when you’re staying.

Welcome to Providore on Playne, a beautiful guest-house located just one block from the main street of Heathcote. Renovated and full of light, it is a place for you to rest, cook, read, eat, sleep and drink. The front section of Providore is 100 years old. With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, the weather board cottage accommodates up to 6 people. Singles, couples and social groups are welcome.
"Our pantry is your pantry". The kitchen is the heart of my home and is part of the wide, open lounge and dining area. During your stay, you can access the fully stocked “Providore Pantry”. Replete with fresh and seasonal produce, non-perishable staples are included. I support local and you are welcome to harvest from the veggie patch, too. In the kitchen, make your own antipasto, charcuterie or tapas platter, using the easy to follow Providore guide. Enjoy a glass of wine; the Heathcote Wine Hub can help you select from hundreds of wines in the district. While we are famously known for Shiraz, you may like to sample other varietals. Favourites include Viognier, Marsanne, Rose, Tempranillo, Mouvedre and Grenache.
  • Lovely home Sandra so welcoming. Clean, spacious and in great location. Will definitely be back.

  • Sandras place was peaceful and relaxing. Three lovely size bedrooms and a great lounge area with plenty of seating. The 2 bathrooms are large and very clean. The house is one block back from the main st with multiple eating choices. The local supermarket is less than a 5 minute walk and stocks a wide variety of good. The is a great place for chilling on the back veranda with some of the local wine. Will have to return for a longer stay.

Heathcote is 100 km from Melbourne airport in central Victoria. The apartment is totally self contained with all facilities in a garden/bushland setting opposite a golf course. Heathcote is known for its many wineries and excellent wine, bird life and lots of kangaroos, monthly Bush Markets and Annual Wine and Food Festivals.
Quiet surroundings overlooking garden and golf course.
  • The views from the front porch were amazing. You can enjoy a cuppa or relax with a glass of local wine and watch the locals play a round of golf. There is everything you could need to make a meal. Or plenty of great restaurants near by. The place is spotlessly clean.

    Leanne2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • Lovely little stay at Peter & Julies place. Fantastic space with everything you need & lovely grounds. Fantastic little extras like cookies and lots of teas. Also breakfast cereals, eggs, fruit, milk & bread. Also lots of nice bathroom bits if you forget something. Great local tips & a little winery tour and town tour from peter :-) Would highly recommend x

    Jasmine2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • If I could give Peter and Julie's place 8 stars, I would. For starters, it's the cleanest airbnb I've ever stayed in. The images don't really do it justice. It's a very comfortable apartment in a beautiful rural setting, but close to town. All of that is fab, but what really makes it is Peter and Julie's warmth - nothing was too much trouble and they were so welcoming, we felt instantly at home. Would return in a heartbeat.

    Karen2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous host in a beautiful setting. Would highly recommend to anyone who wants to escape and relax!

    Sarah2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Extremely warm and lovely hosts. 20 minute walk to Heathcote center (it is a lovely walk) The apartment is lovely, you have what you need and more! ps: homemade cookies when you arrive :)

    Tiffy2019-10-13T00:00:00Z
  • Where to begin about this stay? It was wonderful! The property is amazing and location idyllic, but none of that would matter if you didn’t have excellent hosts, which we did. Peter and Julie are the kindest, most genuine people in the business. Property highlights: - sparking clean - Excellent amenities - Beautiful grounds - 15 minute walk to town - A gorgeous, child friendly resident doggie - Private entrance - Parking under carport - Thoughtful touches throughout property, body wash, hand soap, spare toiletries, tea, coffee, sugar, bottled water etc. - Child friendly - A beautiful view from the deck The hosts: - So welcoming and friendly! - Even though you are on their property, it still feels private. They are there if you need them, but keep to themselves otherwise - Can’t do enough to help you - Upon hearing that we were bringing young children, Peter and Julie found some toys and books to place in our room. So thoughtful! - They answer the phone when you call, ready to assist you in any way We stayed with Peter and Julie to attend the Heathcote Food and Wine Festival, but are trying to think of an excuse to come back. We just loved it!

    Michael2019-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • Great space for a couple to explore the area, the hosts are extra nice and you get a good little retreat with a reasonable kitchen. You might want to bring some DVDs as the TV plays them directly.

  • Had the best stay in the beautiful Pink House!

    Jasmine2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • Great little cottage. Super charming and well furnished. We loved the garden. Also very comfy bed! The only thing - which is not Bonnie's fault at all - is the bedroom window backs onto the beer garden of the pub next door, which didn't have loud music or anything, just some laughs and conversations.

    Niama2020-02-20T00:00:00Z
  • Bonnie's place is in a great location in Castlemaine. As some of the other reviewers have said, it's location right next door to the Bridge Hotel pub means that when a band is playing it is very loud in the house, but as we stayed on a Sunday night the band finished at 5.30pm so this was not an issue for us - a Friday or Saturday might be different though! The cottage is so cute and charming, and in an absolutely cracking location for vintage shopping and a walk around the botanic gardens (just down the street!), and one of the best pub meals we've ever had at the Bridge Hotel next door! We would definitely say here again!

    Bianca2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
