Skelmorlie is a village in North Ayrshire, Scotland dating back to the 15th Century. It's a quiet, picturesque little village steeped in history. Most of the old Red Sandstone Mansion Houses where owned by the Merchants of Glasgow, who used to watch from their holiday homes, as their shipments came up the River Clyde. There are many walks locally in the village with Castles near by and Forests to walk through. There is a village shop, pharmacy and pub all just a few minutes walk from our property. Inverkip beach and Lunderson Bay are nearby (8mins by car), it's a lovely walk to make in any kind of weather. Largs town is also 10mins by car and from here you can take the Ferry over the island of Cumbrae, Millport. Where visitors can hire bikes to cycle round the island.
  • This is a fantastic stay, Marc was a great host, Will hopefully stay again at some point.

  • You could not ask for a better view and the accommodations are five star all the way. Lots of space to stretch out. Two sitting rooms, one with lots of kids toys. Beautifully appointed bathrooms and modern kitchen. I only wish we could have stayed longer.

  • Marc’s home was wonderful in every way. It was immaculate, spacious, tastefully furnished and incredibly equipped. We had young kids in our group and they loved playing with the toys, reading the books and watching cartoons on the large TVs. The kitchen facilities were excellent and had more than everything we needed to prepare and cook homemade meals. The house itself was beautiful. The rooms were large and nicely decorated, had space areas for kids to run around and a large patio which we all sat out on in the evenings. The bedrooms were great and the showers were flawless. As good as the photos are, they don’t do the place justice. Our stay far exceeded everyone’s expectations and we’ll definitely be back!

  • Helen is wonderful and this stay is a jewel. The landscape is beautiful and the grounds are well kept. The room is clean and cozy and exactly the escape my pup and I needed from city life! My puppy even got to play with Cordelia, the lovey Jack Russell Terrier owned by Helen. Everything about our stay was lovely. It was raining for most of our stay, so we didn’t get to do many of the local experiences, but there were a plethora provided if we had been so inclined. I highly recommend this stay for a bit of an old-world manor feel. I’m sure in the warmer months the gardens are superb! I loved being outside and seeing the water and Isle of Bute across the channel!

  • A great find for those “I’ve missed the ferry to Bute days’ or as somewhere go explore this part of Scotland from. Helen was a fantastic host!

  • This is my second time staying here....i really love this wee flat ♡ and the hosts could not have been more accomodating and lovely :)

  • Great location, right by the sea, the accommodation is nestled around the back of the house and has a nice view over the garden. The Bathroom was lovely and well decorated & the breakfast set up was great and I enjoyed the freedom I had while staying there. Helen was really helpful and provided me with lots of information about the local area.

    Rob2020-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • A truly beautiful home that was great to stay at (although altogether far too briefly!). Helen was very welcoming and the flat was spacious with great facilities. The estate and area as a whole was one of the nicest I’ve seen on Airbnb and the historical materials and local touches Helen provided made it all the better. Highly recommend!

    Max2020-01-25T00:00:00Z
  • A clean welcoming self contained space, with good communication from helen.

    Greg2020-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • I arrived at Helen’s during a howling gale in pitch darkness, cold and tired and was utterly delighted to find such a clean, warm and cozy place waiting for me. Self-check in couldn’t be easier, and the little upstairs flat is so cozy and quiet. I felt very snug while the wind howled outside. Helen is also amazingly kind and let me stay a bit longer while I waited in hopes that the ferries to Bute would resume. I would love to come back in summer when the weather is less treacherous.

This stunning and extremely large 2 bedroom, 1st floor apartment with beautiful views over the Firth of Clyde is perfect for a romantic hideaway or family holiday. Just 4 miles from Dunoon. It has all you need for your stay including very comfy beds. A welcome box included with goodies! The wildlife and scenery that can be seen from the front windows is fabulous. Take a walk along the many beaches or just sit in the window seat to appreciate how beautiful this place is. Our guests love it!
This flat is in a fantastic location regardless of weather. The window seat is an added bonus where the window can open like a door letting nature come straight into the living room. Everything in the apartment is of high end quality so the stay can be as relaxing as possible. Having taken the advice of one of our guests, we have now installed a Blue-ray DVD player with a range of DVDs for our younger guests as well as films to entertain the whole family. Netflix is available if you use your own code. We've also purchased some bean bags for the children and are gradually putting together a toy box! We are always open to suggestions to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Please note our flat is on the first floor. It almost makes you think you are on a cruise ship with uninterrupted views of the water. Our guests really do love this place and have started returning annually!
The neighbours are lovely in the area you will be staying in. Innellan is a much sought after area and this apartment is in prime position to enjoy peace and tranquility.
  • The photos on Sue and Roy's listing are accurate yet somehow just don't quite do the place justice. The Lookout is a lovely little haven by the sea, and is genuinely stocked with everything you could need for your stay in Innellan. We stayed for five rainy days in March with our three year old, who loved playing with the ace selection of toys as well as having a load of new books to read. If you're travelling with a little one, do pack lightly as there really is everything you could need! The welcome pack was greatly appreciated, and we did make full use of the extremely well-equipped kitchen (and the reclining sofa!) during our stay. An excellent Airbnb experience, many thanks

  • This is a fantastic place to stay. It has everything.

    Darren2020-03-05T00:00:00Z
  • I booked up as a little delayed present for my boyfriends birthday and wow! What a treat :) Sue and Roy are excellent hosts! They helped with all and any questions I had over the weekend without a single bit of bother and made our trip as easy as possible. They even left us a little breakfast basket (with a cheeky bottle of vino) which I can tell you was very much appreciated after a long drive. The flat is so lovely and cosy - there’s lots of cute little quirks (and plenty of board games, which in all honestly Connor wasn’t the happiest about as I always kick his ****). The views are incredible and it’s only a short distance from Dunoon town so plenty of places to eat/drink. I would very highly recommend! Thank you again :) Sian & Connor

  • There was four of us staying. The apartment was amazing, roomy and very comfortable. Everywhere was sparkling clean and the hosts left lots of goodies for us. All four of us have had the best weekend ever and all of us have fell in love with Dunoon. We will be back. Thankyou for all the lovely personal touches. Thankyou for a wonderful stay.

  • Yet another great long-weekend at The Lookout! We’ve been before and went back thanks to the very thoughtful touches and great welcome we always receive. If you’re looking for a place to get away from hustle and bustle and just chill out with family and/or friends, this is the place! The weather meant the ferries were off but Sue couldn’t have been more accommodating with our late arrival. As I said, another great stay and we’ll be back again!

Our two girls who were 5 and 2 loved staying, they loved the books and toys provided. I would recommend this to couples or families looking for somewhere to relax and recharge! • What a fantastic location! Overlooking the Firth of Clyde this traditional home offers much for visiting the local area with easy access to Bute, Cumbrae and Glasgow but for us it was sailing a Regatta at Largs. The amenities offered by the accommodation enabled our sailors to start the day with dry kit and with easy access to Largs Sailing Club while at the end of the day a quite place to relax and contemplate the successes and failures of the day. We felt at home and very much part of the slow pace of live offered by this west coast haven. Hopefully we will return at some other time.

    Ben2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I stayed over a weekend to attend a wedding in Largs (which is a very short drive away). Joy & her husband were so welcoming, and kindly watched our puppy for the day - their 3 dogs were lovely and all had a great time. The space itself was very clean and had everything we could possibly need. The photos do not do the apartment justice, it was spacious and had the most spectacular view too! Joy kindly provided some soup & eggs/bread & bacon for us which we enjoyed in the morning. All in all, we would encourage you to stay here as you won't be disappointed. We certainly hope to return again soon!

    Emily2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay in Joy’s lovely, quirky cottage. We felt immediately welcomed by Joy and settled in straightaway. The cottage was so comfortable, with everything we needed, and we appreciated the welcoming touches Joy provided. It’s in lovely location too. This was our first time staying in an Airbnb and it has been a great introduction!

Lorna was extremely helpful with fast responses from the outset. Our guests loved the Molton Brown touches in each bathroom. We would definitely return!!

We had plenty of room in doors, lots of beds etc and the space was very clean and up to date. The hot tub and sauna were easy to use and the instructions succinct. I would 100% recommend the Wee Nunnery 😊

  • This was a brilliant AirBnB and my friends and I had a ball staying here. Perfect for a group of people wanting great views, space and time to relax. Highly recommend!

  • The house has the most wonderful outlook, a view you could stare at all day long! Kitchen is very well stocked and a towel provided for all guests. You are a short 10 minute drive into Largs where you can spend the day wandering, you must pop into Nardinis for ice cream! You can also get the ferry here into Millport for the day. Lorna's house has a lovely open plan kitchen and sitting area (large dining room is separate) where you can still socialise whilst cooking. The bathrooms are all lovely and the house house is very warm. The place is like a TARDIS, the kids loved exploring going up different staircases and meeting in the middle! We had 5 cars between us and all got parked easily at the bottom of the drive. I had to contact Lorna when we arrived and even though she was on holiday herself she made sure to get back to me and answer my query. In the annex the hot tub is indoors but right next to a glass wall and doors can be opened to a seated area. There is also a small sauna beside the tub. Plenty of rooms for storing clothes whilst there and showers are nice and hot!! You'll have a great time!

We had booked the annex but due to plumbing issues we were given an upgrade to the main house which had incredible rooms, great facilities located in the most picturesque area, over looking the sea. The house is a lot more amazing than in the pictures Especially for the price!! Super great for family holidays and friends- stocked with board games and movies!! Would recommend this to everyone!!!

We are currently taking a break from hosting due to family issues but regular guests should still get in touch. Make yourself at home! We want you to feel this when you're here as if you're staying with friends, free to use all the facilities of our house. Less than a minute to prom & close to the Cumbrae ferry. We can store bicycles in garage (motorbikes in our locked garden out of sight) and there's ample on-street parking. We also have a double bedroom listed. We have a small friendly dog.
DUE TO CORONAVIRUS WE ARE NOT BOOKING UNLESS LONG TERM AND YOU SHOULD CONTACT US RE DATES The space is a very popular and decent sized single bedroom and very comfortable and all our guests show this in their reviews. Situated opposite the shared bathroom. We have people return to it many time as they like the peace and quiet of it. Every review we have is a genuine review from a guest we have hosted. This is a 5 star 🌟 apartment full of art and everything we hope you'll need to make you feel comfortable and at a home from home! This comes from Rodrigo and Kristyna who stayed in July 2018 from Prague in our double room (also listed); “Five stars don’t make this place and the hosts any justice. They deserve way more. Amazing hosts, quite responsive and they made us feel like at home, as if we were staying with friends.” The apartment is on a first floor of a block of 4 apartments called "villas” built in, or around, 1877. It really is a beautiful apartment and we get so many returning guests as a result. There is a wide 21 stair staircase to the apartment of with hand rails but the apartment is on one level for guests. As hosts, we have ensure we are significantly cheaper than local B&B and Hotels in the area and are a genuine Airbnb and provide breakfast. We have many guests staying for months at a time (also in our doubles room which is listed separately). Please also be aware we are not in Glasgow so please be sure you are booking correctly. We are around 50 mins by car or train from the city and although many stay here and travel to the city if you want to be in Glasgow itself do not book this room. IF DATES YOU WANT ARE BLOCKED PLEASE ASK AS WE CAN ALWAYS SEE WHAT WE CAN DO TO RELEASE THESE SO YOU GET THE STAY YOU WANT AS SOMETIMES IT CAN JUST BE US AWAY FOR AN EVENING AND HAVE NO ISSUES WITH GUESTS WHO ARE HERE MORE THAN A NIGHT BEING ALONE IF THEY ARE HAPPY WITH THAT. • Flat is sparkling clean, the hosts are super friendly and attentive without being overbearing so give the impression that customer really is king. Highly recommend!

  • Colin and Richard's place was a great spot, very convenient for checking out Largs and the surrounding area. Very welcoming and helpful with good suggestions and a nice breakfast. Would definitely stay again!

  • Colin was a wonderful host; going well beyond the standard expected of anyone. His accommodation was lovely and I couldn't recommend Colin and his home enough.

    Séamus2019-05-03T00:00:00Z
  • Colin is a superb host. He went out of his way to be helpful and accommodating. I booked both rooms for 5 nights, one for myself and the other for my friend. Both rooms were immaculately clean and beautifully furnished. The bed linen was sumptuous and the shower was amazing. Indeed the whole of dear 61R Brisbane Street was such a pleasure to come back to. So many thoughtful touches and a wonderful atmosphere. We were made to feel welcome and at home. Orla, the little dog made us smile from the moment we met her. My friend does not usually like dogs (to put it mildly) but for some reason, Orla became her best friend. Indeed she has told me to be sure and sing Orla's praises in this review. Colin also prepared a fine breakfast every morning and gave us invaluable local knowledge. We had more than ample private space, including the lounge, well stocked with books on the arts, and a whole array of films on request. Great paintings hang from every wall. It is an uplifting and inspiring place to be. We just had a great time and I can't recommend the host and the place highly enough. We will be back for sure. Elizabeth ( Irene) and Maxine.

  • I enjoyed my ‘holiday’ at 61R… didn’t want to leave! Colin puts a lot of effort into making guests comfortable and welcome. You will not be disappointed, highly recommended!!

  • Colin is a superb host who makes you very welcome and at the same time can’t do enough for you. I’ve stayed with Colin on a number of occasions and have enjoyed my stay every time. I’m looking forward to returning.

    Antony2019-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • This is literally the best airbnb experience you could get. The atmosphere is so welcoming when you come in the door - it genuinely feels like a home from home. Colin and Richard are just fabulous hosts, and company, and their home is beautiful. Everything is so spacious and tasteful, very relaxing. Breakfast is a very high standard. Highly recommended on every level.

    Kat2019-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • Couldn't recommend any higher. A perfect stay with an accommodating host who goes out of his way to ensure that you feel welcome and can relax. Great location, premises and service offered.

Little touches like fresh flowers in the room along with magazines made my stay very relaxing. The whole apartment was exceptionally clean with the added bonus of well equipped kitchen containing a range of appliances including an ice machine. I was able to use my laptop anywhere in the apartment and receive good wi fi connection. I would highly recommend this comfortable home from home to other users.” This was a review from Frida who stayed in June 2016 but missed the 14 days to enter her review: "I am SO glad we picked your place for the last stop! I only wished we had found you sooner. All three of you (yes, also Orla) made the last days count even more than the rest. You were beyond kind to us, and helpfull with ANYTHING we needed. It was so nice to be somewhere, where the host is so nice by heart, and not because they feel they have to. We felt much more as friends or family in your house, than guests. :) I truly hope you will have us staying again sometime, cause we are dying to get back to your little town! :D Big hug from Denmark! • We had an amazing stay at The Old Nunnery. The house is ideal for big groups looking to get away for a few days. Everything went smoothly from check in to check out and it was very helpful that the housekeeper popped in upon our arrival to help us settle in and tell us how the heating etc worked.

A stunning former lighthouse keeper’s cottage, Lighthouse Point has the most amazing views of the lighthouse and dramatic sea views down the Clyde approach, past Bute, towards Arran. Situated at Toward Point in Argyll, this beautiful cottage offers a luxurious stay with views to die for. If you can be tempted away from gazing out of the south facing sunroom, watching the sea, yachts and other marine traffic, it is less than two minutes’ walk to the water.
There you will generally find the seals lounging on the rocks and a number of ideal fishing spots. The accommodation at Toward Point is arranged on one level and there is one well-appointed bedroom with a king size bed and shower room. The lounge is a good size, as is the sunroom which leads from it. The kitchen comes fully equipped, with a cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher, plus there’s a washing machine. Outside you’ll find a good size garden (not yet fully enclosed), with garden furniture for dining outside on balmy days. There is plenty of onsite parking. Two well behaved dogs are welcome Toward village is small, but is only 3 miles from the nearby village of Innellan with its pub/hotel and grocery shop and 7 miles from the town of Dunoon (with its connections to Glasgow and beyond); there is also an hourly bus service to the town almost immediately outside the cottage. Facilities available locally and nearby Beach and beach walks Fishing Bird watching Boat trips Cycling Botanical gardens Historical sites Mountain Biking Hill Walking Pub and pub food Restaurants Sailing Supermarket/food shop Swimming pool (public) Gym and sports centre Cinema
  • Lighthouse Point is a great place to stay: it's stylishly furnished, very comfortable and well equipped with everything you need. The view from the sunroom is great and, if you feel like leaving it for a little while, the local area is definitely worth exploring for beaches, mountains, castles, waterfalls and wildlife.

  • Absolutely beautiful house and location, such an amazing spot right on the coast! The home had everything we needed right to hand and some excellent recommendations of places to visit - Pucks Glen and Ostel Beach were our (and our dog’s) highlights! Cathy was really quick to reach when we had a question about checking in, we have already recommended the trip to family and friends so no hesitation at all in saying we would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting a quiet and scenic break away.

    Jennie2020-02-06T00:00:00Z
  • This is a gem of a place. Every little touch was carefully thought out. It was lovely. The spot was a perfect little hideaway in a beautiful place. We loved our time there.

    Patrick2020-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • We loved everything about Lighthouse Point. The décor is perfect for the situation and the views are stunning. It is so comfortable with everything you need - a great place to stay.

    Mark2020-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Well what a wonderful Christmas we had in the lighthouse point ! Cathy had everything in the house that we could possible need for our stay, there was even dog essentials that we desperately needed as we had forgotten dog food, dog towel, bowls etc and arriving on Christmas Eve nothing was open !! The kitchen is small but very practical as we managed comfortably to make a Christmas dinner! The views from the house are amazing to wake up to every morning and the beach walk we did every morning which was perfect for our water loving Labrador. We also went up to pluck glen for a walk in the forrest, breathtaking defiantly worth a visit only a 25minute drive from the house. Last but not least the bed is insanely comfortable slept like a log every night. Thanks Cathy we will hopefully be staying again sometime in the future.

    Helena2019-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Where to start?! This place is an absolute gem. No expense has been spared in making this an utter haven for anyone wishing to spend some time in gorgeous Dunoon. The furnishings are beautiful, tasteful and extremely comfortable and I did not want to come home! I will definitely be back.

22/03/2020: Following on from the First Minister's new recommendations today, as of today The Snug & Coach House Cottage will be taking no new holiday bookings for the forseeable future. We are so sad to have to do this, but think it is definitiely the correct decision - thank you all for your understanding x
The Innellan Cottages are The Snug, and Coach House Cottage, detached cottages tucked up a quiet lane in the small village of Innellan, Argyll. The cottages are next door to each other and both are ideal for a quiet, relaxed 'get away from it all' break. With the beach at the foot of the lane and miles of secluded forest walks on your doorstep, they're the perfect base to escape the crowds and enjoy nature. Originally a hay barn, the cottage now boasts a bright, open-plan living space with fitted kitchen and sitting area on the upper floor, from which there are lovely sea views from the french doors. On the ground floor there is a good-sized double bedroom and bathroom. The Snug comfortably sleeps two adults and one child (there is a sofa-bed in the living area). The cottage is fully double-glazed, has central heating and free Wi-fi. We hope you will find everything you need in the cottage for a cosy, comfortable, enjoyable stay! We are happy to provide a travel cot, stair gate and high chair. Up to two dogs are also very welcome, but please let us know when you enquire that you would like to bring your four-legged friend along with you, thanks! Innellan is a small village which lies just a few miles south of the popular tourist town of Dunoon - itself just over an hour from Glasgow. There is a community owned shop, post office, restaurant/village pub all within walking distance.
The Snug is tucked up a quiet little lane in the small village of Innellan. Innellan is a charming village with a village hall at its hub, hosting a range of events throughout the year from the South Cowal Community Festival to pet shows, theatre, Halloween and Christmas events. We're also lucky enough to have on our doorstep a good restaurant/pub, tennis and lawn bowls, golf, pony trekking, sailing, hill walking, mountain biking, fishing... as well as being a short drive or bus ride into the town of Dunoon!
  • A 'snug' little cottage for a west coast exploration. All you need for a comfortable stay. bed comfy - sofa bed comfy if you need it. sky tv if you want it. kitchen well equipped and a washing machine /dryer. There is a an ok pub and shop along the main road back towards Dunoon.

    Elise2020-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • The Snug is just as it looks from the photos. Clean and cosy, it is the perfect little Clyde coastal getaway, just steps from Innellan beach. Communication and cooperation from our host, Katie, was excellent throughout. Also a plus is that Innellan has a good local hotel for meals and drinks.

    Dianne2020-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Everything in place for a perfect holiday, with outstanding communication and thoughtful touches throughout.

    M2019-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • The Snug is a unique and charming home, well kept, very clean and cozy. Katie is an excellent host, providing all the information and amenities needed to make your stay comfortable and stress free. The location is beautiful and the bus stop is at the end of the lane making it very easy to get into Dunoon if you are relying in public transportation. I loved my stay and hope to visit again   Sent from Mail for Windows 10

  • The best place to calm down and enjoy nature ! We even changed our plans to be able to stay a night longer. The cottage is really nice, has a lovely room to hang out on cold days and a very well equiped Kitchen. Katie's warm welcome and the easy communication made it a perfect holiday ! Thank you !

    Teresa2017-12-19T00:00:00Z
  • We had a lovely few days at The Snug. Katie has gone to a lot of trouble to provide a welcoming, comfortable home, and was very good at keeping in touch with us. The Snug has good WiFi and TV reception and it even has a washing machine & tumble dryer which I can see would be handy for longer stays. The Snug is very close to the beach and we spent most mornings down there with the dog, so peaceful. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we'd happily recommend it to anybody.

    Amber2017-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • Really nice cosy apartment, stunning coastline on doorstop and really good place to explore the secret argyle coast

    James2017-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Host left us some lovely shortbread biscuits and also emailed us to let us know we could arrive early if we wanted. Didn't meet Katie the owner but communicated via email and she was lovely. I would recommend this gorgeous bijou cottage.

  • Just back from a nights stay here and it was amazing. Property was spotless, it’s hard to believe anyone had stayed there before us. It has everything you need for a stay away from home. Ann and Arthur have thought about all the special little touches, making you feel incredibly welcome and homely. Ann met us on arrival and was lovely, we arrived quite late however they were still happy to go out and set up the BBQ hut for us to use. The quality and standard of this property is amazing for the price you pay, definitely our favourite Airbnb and hosts so far! We already have plans to return and will definitely be recommending to our friends and family. Thank you again!!

  • The cottage is better than expected, Ann and Arhur greeted us with a bottle of Italian wine. The house is very clean and equipped with everything you need and more. We used the barbecue hut for two days, fantastic. It is located in a perfect spot to visit all the fantastic neighboring countries by the sea or take ferries to Dunoon or the island of Bute. Beautiful lighthouse. A few kilometers away you can try Italian ice cream from Narnini in Larg or see Vikingar and take a long walk along the seafront.

Our home is a place of warmth and beauty filled with music, books and art. A peaceful refuge for travellers. Charles is a composer, musician and artist; Nicola is a writer and editor. We have a golden retriever (Lucy). Dunfeurach is an Italianate mansion and garden built by a Glasgow coal merchant in 1850 on the west coast of Scotland, within reach of Glasgow, Edinburgh and Oban. We offer 3 rooms: total 5 beds, including a small sofa bed. (See separate listing.)
This listing really is only for room3. If you would like to book more rooms, please go to another listing of ours: https://airbnb.com/rooms/14276823?guests=1&s=E5Zbq0Jd From another listing, you will see that we are in fact offering three rooms. Each room is limited for two people only ( apart from room 2.) Please make sure you have booked the right number of rooms. If you are not sure, please check with me before booking. The owner is living in this building and managing and helping the guests daily. This is a room above the kitchen with its own staircase and private bathroom with bathtub and separate shower cubicle and an arched entrance to the toilet and washbasin. The stairs lead down to the breakfast room and kitchen. This room gives guests much more privacy. It has a wonderful closet for your clothes! It is a large room.
Outdoors We are very near two sailing clubs and often see yachts, dinghies and kayaks out on the water close by. Diving is apparently an excellent thing to do here — we can find out more for you if you like. There is a golf course on the hills just behind us (with stunning views). For walkers and nature-lovers, Puck’s Glen, the Benmore Botanic Gardens and the Argyll Forest Park are within easy reach, as is Loch Lomond, the Kyles of Bute and Tighnabruaich. We have at least one bicycle we can let you use (and an honesty box for donations to help us keep them in good condition). The roads around Innellan are good for cycling and there are off-road tracks nearby, we hear. We’ll check that out for you. We would have a lot more to report on cycling were it not for our having been distracted in the last year by acquiring a puppy. We have a cycle room which holds up to four bikes. The driving is easy (Scottish roads are well maintained) and often utterly beautiful. Shops, cinema, etc The small, deeply old-fashioned town of Dunoon is within 15 minutes drive. It has a scattering of independent shops including a specialist whisky place, a nice bookshop (with café), a cinema, leisure centre and supermarket. The people are lovely. The town has an old-fashioned charm to it.
  • We had a very enjoyable stay in Inellan and were sad to leave! Took a trip to Benmore gardens on Nicola and Charles' recommendation and had a great day. We were very well taken care of and had a fantastic breakfast. Would highly recommend! Also, we fell in love with Lucy the dog!

    Maxine2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We went looking for something nice and what we got was something fantastic. A beautiful building and room in a great location. But, the real gem here is Charles - such a lovely person who will do all he can for you and is very personable. We would happily return any time. Thank you.

    Jamie2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • Wow what a place! Al the little details really make the place so special. And Charles and Lucy (their lovely dog) make you feel at home instantly. Hope to come back soon and highly recommend a stay here.

    Koen2019-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Big room, perfect clean. Genuine welcoming host and charming dog. Simple, but very nice breakfast. We stayed only one night so we didn’t explore the area much. We arrived without car, some steps to get there, recommenced to research that before.

    Maria2019-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • A very cozy old mansion with a very nice host.

    José Manuel2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • Charles' place is a rare gem, it is described in the village hall as the jewel in Innellan's architecture, it is a lovely house with spacious well decorated rooms displaying woodcuts and Charles' own artworks. He is very entertaining and the whole experience was truly wonderful. We would happily stay again, Derek

    Derek2019-08-18T00:00:00Z
  • Charles is a great host and his home is lovely. Our room was very spacious and comfortable with a very large ensuite bathroom. A great selection of toiletries was available if you didn't bring your own. We were very well looked after with porridge made to order every morning, There was also fresh fruit, yoghurt and toast with a wide assortment of spreads if you wanted. Charles and his wife Nicola are both really interesting creative people - ask Charles to play you some of the music he has composed, or to read the magazine Nicola edits. And, of course, the location is beautiful. Highly recommended!

    Joan2019-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our 2 night stay at Charles's house. The house was lovely. Charles is very friendly and welcoming, as is his dog Lucy.

The East Wing is the former guest wing of Noddsdale House created in 1923 to form this beautiful sanctuary. Ideal for a couple, it can easily accommodate up to 4 without feeling cramped. The sitting room is the star of this holiday home with its pitched wooden ceiling and the spaciousness it creates. It is a room of two halves, with one looking out over the rock garden to the Firth of Clyde beyond and the other by the open fire. There are plenty of sofas and chairs to choose from, so you are spoilt for choice! The entrance is up a flight of steps which leads into the charming hallway. Off to the right is the bright and light kitchen/diningroom and to the left the passage to the bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. Noddsdale House is set in 200 acres of mature grounds with trees and colourful shrubs in the spring, gardens, young trees, hill, farmland and our very own hydro electric scheme. The views from the top of the hill behind the house over Largs and the Firth of Clyde are spectacular on a good day and if the north wind blows, the clarity is wonderful. Bring your walking boots or wellies though as it can be muddy!
The East Wing is full of character and unlike anything you will have ever stayed in before! It has a charm all of its own and is a delightful place to relax and recharge the batteries. Many of our guests just enjoy sitting watching the ferry go between Largs and Cumbrae, or the birds feeding in the garden whilst reading a book either by the window, or outside at the top of the rock garden on a bench if the weather is kind. Usually peaceful, save for the days when the grass is cut or the wood chopped, there is a tranquillity about Noddsdale that brings people back and back again. There is so much to explore locally and the joy of being here is that it is rural but only 2 miles from the centre of Largs.
Brisbane Glen is named after Sir Thomas Makdougall Brisbane who lived in Brisbane House (now no longer) in the Glen. He was a keen astronomer and built an Observatory here and in Australia where he was a Governor of New South Wales. There is a project to save the Observatory in the Glen from decaying. Island hopping is a great thing to do on holiday. Arran is the largest of the Islands in the Clyde and is often referred to as Scotland in Miniature. It has a Distillery at Loch Ranza, a castle at Brodick, several golf courses and Goat Fell which is almost a Munro. Ferries run several times a day from Ardrossan which is a 30 minute car journey south of Largs. The Isle of Bute boasts Mount Stuart House which is intriguing with all its history and amazing detail in design and is reached by ferry from Wemyss Bay and a bus from Rothesay. The Island of Cumbrae is the smallest and closest to Largs with a 10 minute crossing. Jump on the bus to Millport, hire bikes and ride around the 11 miles stopping for the obligatory ice cream on the round! The Cathedral of the Isles is the smallest cathedral in the country, if not Europe, and hosts classical recitals and concerts on Sunday afternoons from May to September. Kelburn Country Park is to the south of Largs and boasts walks, play areas, riding and a cafe amongst other things. The Marina at Largs Yacht Haven has a couple of eateries. The Bosun's Table is more informal than Scotts. but both are excellent. There are many great places to eat in Largs including Nardini's in the Art Deco building on the front, famous for ice cream and fish and chips! There is an excellent Tapas bar and lots of other great places, including coffee shops! There are several independent food shops too - fish, meat, fruit and veg - as well as the mainstream supermarkets for the essentials.

  • The Admirals view was a very nice surprise, it is a beautiful home away from home, a very clean, functional property suitable for couples and families alike, from the front the property you get fantastic views of the waterfront with its ever changing scenery, sitting in the front porch watching the world go by is a great way to relax and destress. At the rear is a nice garden area giving a nice outdoor space for children and pets. Inside the property, upstairs there are 2 good sized bedrooms (one with a very comfy kingsize bed), the bathroom was clean and functional, leading down stairs, the living area is a nice comfy space, the kitchen is a functional spacious area that leads to the conservatory at the rear of the house. The property is pet freindly and the garden is a secure, the coast line is great for walking dogs.

  • We had a lovely stay at admirals view. Check in with Ian was friendly and offered some ideas on what to do based on what we’d asked. Had to phone about a radiator leak, that and any calls or texts were dealt with almost straightaway. My little girl (well me) loved looking out the bedroom each morning and evening sporting the seals basking or swimming around. The houses behind us were all having roof repairs so builders there every day from 8-6 which meant having to keep the upstairs and one side of the conservatory blinds closed so we weren’t overlooked in the mornings getting ready , but it didn't impact on the evenings. Recommend a trip to Isle of Bute, and Loch Lomond shores for sea life centre, falconry centre, beach, boats as well as shopping. Our 6 days wasn’t long enough, Thankyou Claire and Ian xx

  • Jacqueline made me feel right at home. The house/room is very comfortable and in a quiet area. Jacqueline told me the best routes to take into town (a nice walk along the shore). She even offered to drive me into town multiple times, and picked me up from the station. Thoroughly recommended!

  • I was privileged to be one of Jacqueline’s first Airbnb clients. She was very welcoming and I wanted for nothing. A very pleasant stay. It is walking distance from town too!! I don’t have any hesitation in recommending Jaqueline’s accommodation.

Willow Cottage is an ideal getaway in the tranquility of the Ayrshire countryside. Within the grounds of Noddsdale Estate which has extensive gardens, including a tennis court, this is a great spot to unwind. This semi-detached cottage has two double/twin rooms (depending on your requirements), a cabin size bedroom with a single bed and a travel cot if required, two bathrooms, an open plan kitchen/dining room, a living room with an open fire and a sunroom. Set in a charming cottage garden with views over the fields and trees to Largs and the Firth of Clyde beyond, just off the Brisbane Glen, it is two miles from the centre of Largs and the sea. With steps at the front door, but a ramp at the back door this is suitable for those who are less able, with a downstairs bedroom and bathroom, and also small children, babies and dogs. It is a great holiday cottage for all the family.
Refurbished in 2010 this was originally an under gardener's cottage for Noddsdale Estate. There is a path up to the main garden of the big house where there are flower beds and some fruit trees along with the tennis court. The hill behind the house has magnificent views, so if you like to walk, bring suitable boots and your camera. We have a Hydro Electric Scheme, also upgraded in 2010. The water is dammed in a pretty spot up the hill and is something of a local beauty spot! Some of our guests who come to Noddsdale are here for some peace and quiet and the west coast air usually does its magic and allows good nights' sleep in our super comfy beds after a day of exploring the area or just relaxing on the estate. There are many sights to see: Castles, including Kelburn Castle just south of Largs with a country park and play area and much much more; Culzean Castle south of Ayr; Dumfries House, near Cummock, saved for the nation by The Prince of Wales (or The Duke of Rothesay, as he is known in Scotland), Mount Stuart on the Isle of Bute; the Cathedral of the Isles in Millport on the Isle of Cumbrae which is the smallest cathedral in the United Kingdom, if not Europe. If you like golf, there are 2 courses in Largs - one where Sam Torrance was brought up as his father was the pro. There are also lots of beautiful courses within an hours' drive. Sailing is very popular in the Firth of Clyde and there is a marina to the south of Largs and one at Inverkip. Largs Yacht Haven boasts two fine eateries and you can take a walk along the Esplanade to The Pencil which commemorates the Battle of Largs in 1263. Every year The Viking Festival is held at the end of August/beginning of September to celebrate the event. There are many places to eat in Largs including the world famous Nardini's Restaurant and Cafes. Ice Creams to die for! Ferries run from Largs to Cumbrae every half hour in the winter and every quarter in the summer. You can take the ferry, hop on the bus, hire bicycles in Millport and then ride round the island which is about 11 miles for a great day out - stopping at Fintry Bay, in the Summer months, for a well earned bite to eat or ice cream and relax on the beach - or even a swim. Wildlife a plenty to watch out for on your way round. Ferries to the Isle of Bute run regularly from Wemyss Bay and a bus takes you to Mount Stuart. Rothesay has the most amazing public conveniences on the pier. Ferries to the Isle of Arran run from Ardrossan, 30 minutes south of Largs, and take about an hour. Arran is like a mini Scotland with Goat Fell to climb (for those who are fit at least!) and a distillery at the north end of the island at Lochranza and golf courses, beaches and a road all the way around the island. There are various Arran business along the way selling unique island produce including cheeses and soaps.
Brisbane Glen is so named because Major General Sir Thomas Makdougall Brisbane was born in Largs in 1773 and lived in Brisbane House which is a stones throw from Willow Cottage. He was a famous astronomer and built an Observatory here in the Glen and in Australia where he was Governor of New South Wales for 4 years before returning home again. There is a wish to preserve the Observatory building, which has been allowed to become a ruin, for current and future generations to appreciate his work. There are a number of businesses in Largs with Brisbane in their names including the Brisbane House Hotel and Brisbane Taxis. Brisbane House is no longer standing, but Brisbane Mains Farm is and the entrance to it is opposite the cottage entrance.
  • Quality accommodation in a perfect location.

  • A small English-style house with a very good environment. The landlord introduced the house very carefully and the house was fully equipped. It gave people a very warm feeling and a feeling of home.

  • Lovely peaceful cottage in delightful small garden with great walks nearby. Beautifully equipped. Kitchen had all you might need and beds very comfortable

  • I can’t recommend Willow cottage too highly. The location is stunning and the cottage is clean, warm, modern and very comfortable. Moreover, where holiday cottages tend to be poorly equipped (blunt knives, limited kitchen equipment, bring your own dishwasher tablets), Jane has ensured that Willow Cottage has absolutely everything you need, from kitchen towel to kindling. If you’re a dog owner this is the place to be - beautiful walks from the front door, plus dog beds, bowls and furniture throws. If you’re not a dog owner don’t worry, unlike many pet-friendly houses Willow Cottage isn’t a bit doggy round the edges, it’s very clean and nicely furnished. 5min drive to the sea, 30min walk up the hill to a stunning view over Largs. Perfect for a holiday at any time of year (we were there for 7 days of rain in March). We will certainly be back.

    Francesca2019-03-23T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed for New Year at Willow Cottage and had a wonderful time. The cottage had everything we needed, was great for the two children (5 & 12 y/o) who were with us and was very clean. The local walks were very good for the children and the dog and the fire was a winner with us all. We would love to go back soon!

    Melanie2019-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is absolutely lovely. Sparkling clean and with all the amenities and appliances you need. The log fire is wonderful on a cold day and all the bedrooms are furnished to the highest standard. It’s just a mile to the waterfront at Largs, so very easy to access shops and all that you need. Kane was a super host and left very kind and thoughtful touches for us as we stayed over Christmas.

  • We stayed with Jane for a weekend and we had a very good time. The house was very cosy and nicely decorated, located in a quiet beautiful setting as advertised. Everything was clean and worked well and Jane was very helpful throughout. We were travelling from Durness and she offered to allow us to check in a night before as the weather forecast snow on our way there, which was much appreciated.

22/03/2020: Following on from the First Minister's new recommendations today, as of today The Snug & Coach House Cottage will be taking no new holiday bookings for the forseeable future. We are so sad to have to do this, but think it is definitiely the correct decision - thank you all for your understanding x
The Innellan Cottages are Coach House Cottage and The Snug, detached cottages tucked up a quiet lane in the small village of Innellan, Argyll. The cottages are next door to each other and both are ideal for a quiet, relaxed 'get away from it all' break. With the beach at the foot of the lane and miles of secluded forest walks on your doorstep, they're the perfect base to escape the crowds and enjoy nature. Coach House Cottage provides characterful yet modern accommodation. It's a detached cottage with a small secluded garden. Upstairs you’ll find a bright living room and a twin bedroom, both of which have lovely views over the lane to the hills beyond. On the ground floor is the dining kitchen, the bathroom and the large master bedroom. The cottage was originally a coach house & there are still many original features dotted around, such as the cast iron hay feeder for the horses and the large arched window which once allowed access for the coaches. Innellan is a small village which lies just a few miles south of the popular tourist town of Dunoon - itself just over an hour from Glasgow. There is a community owned shop, post office, restaurant/village pub all within walking distance. We are happy to provide a travel cot, stair gate and high chair. Up to two dogs are also very welcome, but please let us know when you enquire that you would like to bring your four-legged friend along with you, thanks! Free Wi-fi. Available for full weeks, short breaks and long stays.
Coach House Cottage is tucked up a quiet little lane in the small village of Innellan.
  • We had a very relaxing stay and would have happily stayed longer. Having stayed in a few Airbnb places the key things for us are: is it hassle-free? Comfy? Can you find and work everything you need without any problems? All boxes ticked. We were able to settle in quickly and felt at home. Katie left milk and eggs from her hens in the fridge, which was a nice touch. There is a small, peaceful garden which would be great to sit out in during the summer. The location, in Innellan, was good - very quiet, with the sea a 30 second stroll away. In the morning the view across the water as the sun rose over the mist covered hills was wonderful. If you need shops Dunoon is 4 miles away. If you wished to go ‘Doon the watter’ I’d highly recommend the Coach House to stay.

  • We had a lovely stay at Coach House Cottage! The house was beautifully decorated, but still cosy and charming. We really appreciated milk and eggs from the owner’s hens left in the fridge and also the coffee machine and pods! We were actually so comfortable, we didn’t feel the need to rush out and see the beautiful sights in the area! The owner was very helpful and responsive. We loved our stay and would love to go back next time we are in the area.

    Fiona2019-07-20T00:00:00Z
  • Nice cosy little cottage ideal for a basic stay. The view down the lane is straight to the sea. Parking at the cottage wasn't ideal as we had a pick up and trailer and the space is quite small there , but there was a layby on the main road that you could use . There are no views from the cottage. The front door could also do with a blind or curtain as you have to pass front door when you go from the bedroom to the bathroom. There is a small private garden that was ideal for our old collie.

  • A very nice cottage with lots of amenities covering everything you might need. Wifi was great. Lots of useful local info provided in a folder. Some nice walks near by, and sea front 100m down the lane. A good location to explore the area around Dunoon. Beds were very comfy and cosy, and the whole place was very clean. Would highly recommend. Katie is helpful and friendly host.

The accommodation is a 2 bedroom apartment within a spacious Victorian Coach House, built in 1834. The friendly owners live within the building but are completely separate. The property is on a lovely country road located around 1.5 miles from the seaside town of Largs. The road on which the property sits is often used by walkers and horse-riders and the views as you walk into Largs are stunning. Locally the Islands of Cumbrae and Bute are easily accessible by ferry. Parking space available.
Guests must be aware that there are stairs within the property and therefore it may be unsuitable for those with mobility problems. Guests should also note that due to the unique nature and age of the property some areas within the apartment have low ceiling heights.
The area is quiet and the road between the property and Largs is often used by walkers and horseriders. There is a golf course at the end of the road (approximately 1 mile). The views along the road are stunning. The island of Cumbrae can easily and very affordably be accessed by ferry from Largs. Its main town of Millport is a small, quirky seaside town where visitors often hire bikes and cycle around the island. The Isle of Bute with its main town of Rothesay can be accessed by ferry a few miles away in Wemyss Bay. Rothesay is well known for its cycling, fishing and wildlife.

Very quiet and beautiful view of the bay. But also 5 minutes driving from Largs. Frances and Stuart have been very kind and helpful. Peferct place for family and people who want a special holiday or break.

    Maja2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at the Coachhouse for 1 night and had a great time. The apartment is in the attic of a 200 year old coachhouse that Frances and Stuart are lovingly renovating. The apartment is very spacious and everything is brand new with very nice touches. Both bedrooms have a bathroom and the living area is huge. They have a high chair and some toys for kids which our son enjoyed a lot!

Rhona found us an amazing accommodation near her place in Inverkip and were provided with a safe, clean and welcoming home by a woman named Jean who runs the Bell Vue B&B. We appreciated Rhona helping with this and even paying the difference for us to stay at Bell Vue. Such outstanding hospitality and service. Thank you!! 🙌🏽🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿♥️

  • Fabulous B&B in Inverkip. It was in a quiet neighbourhood, within walking distance of fine dining. The room was quiet which was lovely for a good night’s sleep. The host had great attention to detail and made us feel very comfortable, almost like we were in our own home. Breakfast was scrumptious with many choices. We’d stay there again in a heartbeat and I’ve stayed in many Airbnb’s and would say this one gets top rating!

  • Rhona’s place is conveniently located. The rooms are well appointed and the b&b is spotlessly clean. We enjoyed a well cooked breakfast and the beds were comfy. Rhona was welcoming and helpful and gave good local information. We’d definitely stay again if we were in the area.

  • My stay at Rhona’s B&B was sensational! It’s a sweet B&B in a wee Scottish town. You certainly feel welcomed!

  • We arrived at Rhona’s place very late after our rental car broke down. She was very understanding and helpful. Her place is very clean and well decorated. I would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in this area

  • The Foresters run a clean and cosy guesthouse. They are great hosts. We felt very welcome. The room was comfortable. Good breakfast too.

The Bell Loft is the former maids' wing of Noddsdale House. It has been lovingly transformed into a charming holiday home for up to 5 people. We welcome children over 9 years old, but no pets. With it's own front door and a flight of stairs before you reach the accommodation, this is a beautiful place to unwind and recharge those batteries. Noddsdale House is situated in Brisbane Glen, just 2 miles from the centre of Largs, where you will find lots of great places to eat. There is a railway station so a train journey to Glasgow only takes an hour which saves taking the car to park! Museums, shops, theatres, concert halls await. Cumbrae is the closest island and a ferry runs from Largs pier. Cycling around the island is a popular pursuit as is a game of golf on the Millport golf course - with spectacular views over the Firth of Clyde. Wemyss Bay is the place to board the ferry for the Isle of Bute and Mount Stuart House - an extraordinarily interesting place with a fascinating history. The ferry for Arran leaves from Ardrossan and there you can find a Distillery, Brodick Castle, Goat Fell - a mighty climb! - and the most wonderful views. They say Arran is like Scotland in miniature! Kelburn Castle and Country Park is just to the south of Largs and has many delights for young and old with play areas and walks. The Marina at Largs Yacht Haven has a couple of great places to eat - Bosuns's Table for an informal meal or Scotts for a slighly more special one.
Noddsdale is the most lovely sanctuary away from the hub-bub of everyday life and yet not far from the sights. Set in 200 acres of land, the mature grounds go up the hill behind the house and include some woodland and our hydro dam. Views from the top are wonderful on a sunny day in particular and you can see for miles in the right conditions. So bring your walking boots or wellies! The gardens surrounding the house are well maintained, although not always weed free, as we try to do most of this in house! The all weather tennis court is just below the Bell Loft and is shared with other guests from the East Wing, Willow Cottage and the family if they are at home. We provide some racquets and balls - but do bring your own if you have them.
Brisbane Glen is special for various reasons - one of them being that Sir Thomas MakDougall Brisbane, lived in Brisbane House which is no longer standing. He was an astronomer and had an Observatory in the glen on the lands of Brisbane, just opposite Noddsdale. He spent some time in Australia and built and Observatory there too. He was a Governer of New South Wales at one time and Brisbane, Australia was named after him.
  • Delightful spot in the Scotland glen
