I would like to think this is a home away from home. It's a very peaceful spot where you can feel one with nature. It is set in the middle of a farming community with spectacular views of rolling hills and the sounds of birds and occasional sheep. The warm mid morning sun lulls into a sense of calm and takes you far away from everyday hustle and bustle.
We are set on 6.9 acres divided into the house plot with a paddock behind which contains a dam. To the right of the cottage there is also another paddock which leads down to a creek at the bottom. We also have two sheep and two Alpacas named Daisy, Little Tommo, (big sheep, small sheep respectively) and Martha(white Alpaca) , Betsy(black & white Alpaca). You are welcome to go for a walk around the property, however please ensure you close any gates behind you as they need to stay confined to the paddock. Please enter the paddocks via the gates next to the Victorian house.
Our place is fairly secluded and it is rare to see anyone, even in the adjoining properties, however, we are only 10 mins drive from the next town heading away from Ballarat, called Skipton. There is a local IGA to pick up everyday essentials. There is also Linton which is a small town 10 mins going back t Ballarat, it has a pub for meals and is a town full of history, just nice to have a walk through and have a refreshment. The cottage adjoins farming land to the west and bush to the north. We are located on the 'Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail' so for people who love bush walking or bike riding this is a wonderful place to explore the Australian Country Side along the rail trail. Much flora and wildlife can be observed along the length of this pretty track. We are 30 mins drive from the bustling town of Ballarat where there are many historical sights to visit. Further past Skipton is the Grampians which is an hour away.
  • Great communication from Tricia, easy to find everything, the animals were my favourite part though!

    Evelyn2020-03-02T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed at Tricia’s cottage for 2 months and love love loved it! So tranquil and a very stylish space. The sweet animals were my favourite part. A true country living experience. Trish is a wonderful host and her family are all very lovely souls as well.

    Kuuipo2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Trish's place is a charming cottage set in lovely, tranquil surroundings in the country. The cottage is incredibly well-provisioned which was useful as we cooked up a storm both evenings. We loved feeding the resident horse, Amber, with carrots and hanging out with the cat who comes to visit (mainly at meal times!). The cottage is also well located near a supermarket in Skipton (10 mins drive) and within 45 minutes of Ballarat.

    Aaron2020-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • This place is a little gold mind, the views will take your breath away, amazing bird life, the house was also comforting.. so many things to do around the area.. thank you to the amazing hospitality of Trish and the family..

    Tania2019-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Such a relaxing getaway from the city. Such a calming atmosphere with beautiful mornings to wake up to. The animals add so much to the experience. We will definitely be back, for those willing to travel, definitely check out the Grampians, especially McKenzie falls. Other places to travel to are Soverign hill and the Ballarat wild life park. Trish was amazing.

  • This little cottage was perfect for a weekend getaway! Highly recommend and would go back in a heart beat

    Kaili2019-12-01T00:00:00Z
  • Hoyles Creek Cottage Retreat is a wonderful place to stay and is truly a home away from home. I had the pleasure of staying for six weeks and found the cottage to have the amenities of home and was very comfortable. Set overlooking the rolling hills, it is a relaxing place to stay. The cottage is tastefully decorated, and has a full kitchen so you can be self-sufficient. The town of Skipton is a short ten minute drive and has a well-stocked supermarket. If you are looking for somewhere you can relax and unwind, I highly recommend staying at Hoyle Creek Cottage.

    Lisa2019-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Trish’s lovely little country cottage is set on a beautiful piece of acreage in the rolling hills West of Ballarat. The cottage is a beautifully finished comfortable space with a fully equipped kitchen. A very relaxing, comfortable and enjoyable place.

Brand new, purpose built accommodation at the foothills of Mount Cole in the heart of the Victorian Pyrenees. Set well away and private from the main house, with open living/kitchen, bedroom and large bathroom. Picturesque views of the valley with a mountain backdrop in the most idyllic and quiet location where you can relax and unwind before touring the Pyrenees or exploring the stunning mountain region. Leave uplifted with a feeling of calmness and rejuvenation. We know you will love it!
This light, bright, sunny modern home has all you need to hide away and enjoy the peaceful surrounds, fresh mountain air and stunning views. Expect to feel overawed with the sights that surround you and get carried away in a magical sense of freedom and peace. Enter in to the open plan kitchen/living, put your feet up and sit back in one of the comfortable recliners while you take in the view from all angles or watch your favourite program on the wall-mounted smart tv. Grab a book and catch up on some reading while you listen to the birds or watch the native animals and resident pet cows outside your yard. The kitchen has a built in electric oven, gas cook top, and sink, with glass splash-back providing another view of the birds and mountain backdrop. There is a fridge/freezer, kettle and toaster, coffee plunger and water purifier. All crockery and cutlery, pots, pans, cooking utensils and glassware are provided to cook for yourself. Local wine and chocolates on arrival. Breakfast ingredients provided for up to 3 day stays and there is tea, coffee and hot chocolate. Please tell us when booking if you have any food allergies. Your host Margie, is a fully qualified nutritionist and can offer optional wellness packages with nutrition consults and meal planning while you're here so you can arrive home with a whole new strategy for staying well! When you're here, admire the divine artworks adorning the wall space, offered for sale by local Victorian artists. Amazing!! Situated 15 mins from the township of Beaufort at the base of Mount Cole, host to bushwalking, mountain biking and mountain lookouts, tracks and waterfalls. Beaufort offers an abundance of fabulous eateries and cafes, a supermarket and newsagent and tourist information centre and library. Did all in her power to make our Valentines weekend getaway special by including all sorts of decorations and romantic touches! She was super friendly and humble. Amazing environment to stay in, with beautiful views all around the property. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who is considering going here! Just a perfect experience!

    Melisa2020-02-16T00:00:00Z

    Kate2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • An amazing location and stay for those who wish to escape. I suggest booking for more than one night to really get an appreciation of what this place has to offer, but equally it's great for a stopover that offers a fantastic setting and feeling of luxury - the personal touches and offerings really make a difference and went beyond my expectations. Thank you Margie for the extra distance you go to make this a comfortable and enjoyable stay.

    David2020-01-07T00:00:00Z
  • Margie's place was absolutely beautiful inside and out. Amazing views, very clean and tidy with nice personal touches. My partner and I enjoyed our stay and being 'off the grid' for a couple of days. We came home very refreshed and relaxed. The communication from Robert is outstanding, the house was clean, comfortable and boasted some great little extras like TimTams and Fresh milk, Netflix & sunscreen. Robert was also very kind as to mow a track into the front paddock and allow us to use the massive trampoline which were both a real hit with my 4 year old. We will most definitely stay again!

  • The Cottage was a perfect little getaway for my partner and I. Belinda is lovely and super accommodating. The Cottage itself was very cute, tidy and warm with lots of little nice touches. The setting was gorgeous in a beautiful little garden surrounded by fresh herbs and veggies, which Belinda said we were welcome to help ourselves to. Only 10 mins from town, but felt like we were tucked away in the countryside. Would definitely recommend for those wanting some peace and quiet with great proximity still to Ballarat or surrounding areas. Will be popping back in on our next visit to Ballarat. Thanks Belinda!

    Nathan2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • I arrived after a long day of driving to find a well stocked pantry and fridge, bowel of fruit, a vase of freshly picked herbs and beautiful flowers from the garden and my favourite part, a little jar of jelly snakes to treat myself to.

    Mads2020-03-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had a fabulous stay at Hedges. Belinda is a warm and welcoming host. Very hospitable. The place is very clean, comfortable and cosy. Her garden is amazing, we helped ourselves to some fresh herbs. We enjoyed sitting on the verandah in the morning sun. So peaceful, felt like we were out far in the country but still so close to the Ballarat centre. The kitchen has everything you need to cook your own meals. The bed was super comfy too. Our mini dachshund Frankie had the best time with Belinda’s dogs. We would love to return. Highly recommend. Much better than expected and the pictures don’t do this gorgeous cottage justice! Thank you Belinda!

  • Great position just outside Ballarat so you feel you're well in the country. Lovely guest house with everything you need. Gorgeous garden and private area to sit out on the decking. It was so clean and the kitchen was stocked generously with the basics. The garden setting was relaxing and beautiful. • Katherines place suited our needs perfectly. We were in Beaufort for a wedding, and it was central to town, had plenty of space for all of us (5 adults). The beds were comfortable, the kitchen is really well stocked with enough cookware, crockery etc. As a fellow eco conscious person, I appreciated the separate rubbish. I fully admit i was a bit annoying with locking in the amount of people that were coming, but Katherine was really accommodating of this. Our friends stayed in katherines other property and it was really handy to just slip through the back fence to next door! If we have the need to come to Beaufort again, Will definately consider katherines place.

Enjoy this relaxed and comfortable 2-bedroom house on a peaceful country property. There are plenty of trees and wildlife, plus lanes for exploring or bike riding, while tourist routes are nearby – it’s a great place for a stopover
The fully self-contained house has 2 bedrooms (one queen bed and 1 king single in one room, so it is possible to have 3 people there, plus 2 king singles in the other bedroom), sofa and deep armchairs to laze in, a kitchen/dining area with new appliances, an outside area under a verandah with table where you can use the BBQ or eat gazing across through the trees to the open paddocks. (It’s also excellent for looking at the stars, with dark skies unspoilt by city lights.) Linen and towels are provided, and there is also an external laundry with washing machine and dryer. There is a tv, and a split system gives heat in winter or coolness in summer. There is plenty of space to park. Access is easiest by car, although a bus goes to Ballarat on Tuesdays & Thursdays, leaving in the morning and returning in the afternoon, and this can drop you at the railway station or in the centre of town.
Ballarat (Sovereign Hill, the central goldfield towns of Clunes and Creswick etc) is 35 minutes away, Geelong 50 minutes away before going on to the Surf Coast and the Great Ocean Road; it is also a good stopover before going on to the Grampians or the Western District towns of Warrnambool or Port Fairy. It is 1.5 km from the local town of Rokewood (café/takeaway, garage.)
  • Anne’s place was wonderful. The space is very comfortable and clean, with everything you need. Anne was very helpful and provided an easy check in process. We loved our stay!

  • Anne's cottage is a gem in country Vic. Peaceful paddocks surround the place and very quiet for a comfortable night sleep. You can enjoy a cuppa in the porch watching the sunset over the estate. The cottage is well equipped and stocked with utensils and condiments for cooking. Comfortable beds and living spaces. Anne was very helpful in collecting groceries from the nearest town during the day while I was at work as shops close early. Thanks Anne for the hospitality. Looking forward to returning next week.

    Shawn2020-02-07T00:00:00Z
  • Once again, we loved our stay at Anne’s. This was our second visit because we loved it so much! We were so comfortable and cosy, and had everything we could wish for. Anne was utterly divine with our 2 kids, and they adored the experience of feeding and playing with Molly, and everything that Anne taught them about horses. We can’t speak highly enough of this beautiful place, and we can not wait to come back again!

Our mud brick home, is surrounded by eucalyptus trees and is bordering on the Enfield State Forest. The 3 bedroom home is an ideal quiet and peaceful escape from urban life, featuring a wood heater, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom and laundry with a washing machine. Kangaroos often visit our backyard to feed on the grass. Lots of native birds can be spotted. We had a Tawny Frogmouth nest near the house and even a koala visit, recently.
We have a little vegetable garden. Please feel free to help yourself to what is growing in the garden. The home has a fully fenced front yard and provides a lovely area for kids to play and run around, with use of a trampoline. There is a dam on the property, so children will need to be watched at all times when outside the fenced area. Wood will be made available, as well as access to the wood shed, however this is to be used only for your stay at our property.
The start of Bodens Water Race Walk is only a few minutes away from the house. The area is perfect for bike riding and horse riding. The Ross Creek General store is less then a 5 minute drive away and they have take away fish and chips and pizza, milk, etc. The brand new Delacombe Town Centre is approx. a 10 minute drive away. This is where you can get your groceries, visit the cinema or explore other shops.
  • A very comfortable home, equipped with everything you’ll need for your stay. Our children played for hours in the garden and the toys inside provided “quiet” entertainment - every parents dream. This property is so peaceful and set in a beautiful yet central location. The mattress in the main bedroom is so comfortable, sadly our mattress at home will never feel the same. A home away from home, you’ll never want to leave.

  • It is such a lovely house, sparkling clean, very comfy bed, nice decoration with modern touch. We have everything we need plus extras - toys , books, DVDs , cubby house . The veggie patch and chickens are fantastic, the kids enjoyed them a lot! Surroundings are nice too, close to nature, tranquil and peaceful. Very glad we found this place will strongly recommend!

  • Janneke was extremely flexible for our families multiple booking adjustments during our time of grief and loss. She very understanding and mindful of our wellbeing during our stay. The kids loved the toys and playing hide and seek in the bush land backyard. The facilities were clean and appropriate to our young families needs, including the offering of a port-o-cot. We really had a great time as a family. We would definitely recommend Janneke’s place to friends and family.

Set among an abundant and lively garden, The Barn is our fully detached, unique guest house. The building was originally a fully functional blue stone farm barn but since owning the property we have converted the space into an open plan house, complete with kitchen, bathroom, large living area and two mezzanine bedrooms. The outside remains in its original state while the inside has been decorated with a collection of artwork and objects from our travels overseas.
The Barn faces east with beautiful morning light pouring through its floor to ceiling windows. The two private outdoor seating areas are designed so you can enjoy as much of the day as possible in the sweet calm Weatherboard countryside. We have a chook pen and pond on site, which houses a wonderful ecosystem of frogs. The living space is naturally cool during summer due to its thick bluestone walls and becomes a cosy nest in winter with the fire going. The open plan nature of the house makes it ideal for a couple or a few close friends (the only completely private room in the house is the bathroom). We have housed many dinner parties and weekend get-togethers and the barn allows for everyone to feel a part of the fun. The area is very well suited for cyclists. The Avenue of Honour we live on runs approximately 25 kilometres back towards Ballarat, partially serviced with bike tracks and is a great ride. All around are quiet country roads and it is possible to explore extensively on a bike. Weatherboard Hill is directly behind us and we have access for climbing to the top from where there is a magnificent view. ‘The Barn’ is a very special place, we look forward to hosting you!
Weatherboard is a small community on the Avenue of Honour 25 minutes from Ballarat. The barn is on this Avenue of Honour, set amongst paddocks with a view of shallow Lake Learmonth.
  • It’s such a beautiful and creative little spot.

There is a grocery store about 15 mins away by car, which was convenient. Sarah was a friendly host and her communication made check-in very easy. We would stay here again and recommend to other people.

Our 3 bedroom house is set on an elevated 7 acres allowing amazing sunset views from the wrap around veranda. The house is recently renovated and has all the facilities that will allow you to come away and rest and rejuvenate in the peace and quiet. Ample parking for 6 cars, an outdoor fire pit plus a wood fire for your enjoyment.
The pyrenees is littered with fantastic wineries. For those that love bushwalking, Mt Cole is a 20 minute drive and has the 20km Beeripmo walk. We highly recommend this walk followed by some drinks on the veranda to watch the beautiful sunsets. The house has a fantastic SMEG oven with induction cook top if cooking is your thing. There are often local farmers markets in the surrounding towns such as Avoca to get your supplies.

The Recyclable House, Beaufort, is a stylish country getaway. Toasty warm in winter! It is an experimental, modern family home designed and built by the owners using closed loop, passive-solar, construction principles. It is a prototype house for the circular economy. A short walk to train and bus, it's a convenient place to relax and explore the surrounding countryside.
This house can be rented together with The White House Beaufort (if available this sleeps an extra 7 people). Check out the joint listing if you need to book for more people: https://www.airbnb.com.au/rooms/33895270?s=51

    Samantha2020-03-09T00:00:00Z
  • I booked Katherine’s place for my parents and they said: The recyclable house is a very well appointed property close to the centre of Beaufort - and such an interesting dwelling to stay in. We were intrigued by the diverse use of so much recycled material. Various hardwoods, compressed cement sheet, galvanised iron bath and shower. Interesting features such as magnetic closures on doors and windows ( no handles). Toys, wonderful books and games were all in abundance. The design of the building made it efficient and therefore very comfortable. Sails on the back deck, which overlooked the garden with espaliered fruit trees, herbs and perennials, gave protection from the afternoon sun. A lovely spot to sit for an evening drink. Perfect really for any time of the day. Beaufort is also a good town to stay in within easy reach of the Pyrenees and Great Western wineries. Avoca hotel, about half hour drive, has exceptional pub food. Katherine is a fabulous host and made certain that we had a great stay. We hope to go back again to enjoy the property and the area.

It was a cosy place for our extended family to stay together in and there were so many activities and toys to keep the kids entertained all day, which was greatly appreciated. It's such a beautiful, unique house and that bath tub is incredible. Thank you for a lovely place to stay Katherine.

    Simone2019-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • The house was fantastic for what we needed for the weekend. The house stayed really warm, despite the cold temperature outside. The bed was super comfy with a warm, fluffy doona. Katherine was a beautiful host and showed me around the house when I arrived and had the fire going so the house was warm for us. I liked having the keyless entry on the front door too. If I were to stay in Beaufort again, I'd definitely stay there.

  • Colin and Jennie were very warm and welcoming, and we absolutely loved staying in the spacious guest part of their lovely house. We made the most of their beautiful garden, picked strawberries and raspberries, and the kids especially loved playing tennis on the tennis court and practicing their golf on Colin and Jennie’s 130metre driving range! We also found the location great, for spending a few days near Ballarat and visiting Sovereign Hill (fantastic, must-do experience of serious gold-mining!) Although there was no kitchen, Colin and Jennie made it easy, taking our dishes away before we knew it. There were also so many extra bonuses, such as Jennie’s delicious freshly baked sourdough bread, home made marmalade and plum jam, and a big bowl of cherries (best we’ve ever tasted) waiting for us when we arrived. The beds were extremely comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. This is a fantastic place for a family with tween-aged kids (ours are 11 and 13), and we hope to visit again.

  • Colin and Jennie were extremely accommodating and friendly hosts from offering to drive us into Ballarat to preparing a beautiful fresh breakfast in the morning. The accommodation was very clean and spacious. Definitely recommend!

  • Beautiful space with wonderful and inviting hosts. Would be very happy to stay again.

  • My husband and I stayed in a lot of AirBnB and I’d rate this as one of the best. The place itself was spacious, clean and situated in a serene and picturesque setting. But what set this experience apart is the thoughtful touch Colin and Jenny added. We arrived late in a cold July evening. Not only we were greeted with an open fire already prepared, each room was comfortably heated. Colin brought out a box of LEGO and immediately my kids were sold. Next morning we were treated with homemade yogurt, berries coulis and Jenny’s freshly-baked homemade sourdough bread. That bread is so delicious that it rivals those from an artisan bakery. I’m salivating as I’m writing this. I wish we would have spent more time there. One night is too short. We will definitely come back!

    Lynn2019-07-21T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful weekend staying at Colin and Jennie’s place. From the moment we arrived they made us feel right at home. Our accommodation was clean, comfortable and spacious. The surrounding gardens were tranquil and immaculately maintained. The extra touches, like the freshly baked sourdough, wood fire upon returning home in the evening and toys/ books for the kids, really made our stay extra special. We would surely stay here again on our next trip to this region.

    Arun2019-07-14T00:00:00Z
  • I have not been to such a tranquil and serene place in a very long time. The outdoor gardens both in front and back is honestly comforting, carefully designed and catered to the needs of the hosts and the guests. There's a nice little porch in front looking out over their fruit garden and patio out in the back over seeing the uncomplicated greeneries. Waking up in the morning with my mates after a night out was absolutely divine. Even more so when Jennie(host) prepared a nicely baked sourdough in the morning for us. The setting was simple but it was hitting all the right spots. Also to add, Colin is such a humble host. Personally we think his place is underrated for the price paid given the hospitality, accomodation and comfort they provide. You can tell it's a house with personality that reflects the owner's aesthetics. This is definitely a place I'd like to come back everytime I am visitng Ballarat or just need a quiet weekend out. Thanks for hosting us Colin and Jennie!

This warm historic cottage with some practical modern touches built in circa 1900 in a peaceful location, walking distance to town and the picturesque rail trial nearby. The romantic and dreamy bedrooms have beautiful 4 poster beds and a couple of sweet single beds all with soft antique linen and luxurious mattresses. Enjoy the fire place during winter as you relax on the chesterfield or sit looking out from the bay window at the elm or sitting on the veranda.
The spacious garden is filled a beautiful shady elm in summer, Australia gums, cypress trees and palms so you could be anywhere in the world. A lot of natural fauna to attract the birds and you will see an occasional kangaroo grazing in the back yard or in the paddocks nearby.
Linton has a history to explore with a walk or drive with a self guided tour of Linton and its history. The Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail nearby to ride or walk though picturesque Australian Bush. We have a wonderful Cafe 'Wares Plant n Things', country hotel with country meals and for something quick an easy takeaway.
  • Wonderful hosts, beautiful house.

  • A holiday place just made for families... for us a reunion where food and eating were both means and ends for a happy time, and the rail-trail biking an essential ingredient...

  • This place is very clean, cute and cosy. It was the perfect place to make our home away from home for the weekend. Communication was excellent, check in was a breeze and the little touches around the home accommodating for our children were heartwarming. The outhouse was an unexpected but pleasent novelty. Highly, highly recommend!

  • A beautiful and peaceful spot for a weekend away. We appreciated all the extra touches (a freshly laid fire, breakfast supplies) and had a very relaxing stay! The home and garden are beautiful and Linton is lovely to walk around. Linton is also a great base from which to explore the region.

  • Liza’s place is a totally rustic experience. The cosy fire and the great deck that looks out across the paddocks of her sheep are our favourite parts. We only had a short stay for one night, but the cottage had everything we needed, including some beautiful freshly laid eggs from Liza’s chooks that we cooked for breakfast. Liza was a lovely host who met us in the morning so that our toddler could meet her sheep and chooks for feeding time. A lovely experience, thanks Liza!

Situated in the Pyrenees shire, Baronga is a quiet country getaway nestled between the Pyrenees wine region and historic Ballarat goldfields. Enjoy the birds that flock to Wendy's garden as well as fresh fruits and vegetables left behind by the resident blue tongue lizard. Whether you are new to Australia or have lived here your whole life and have never experienced the rural lifestyle, take the opportunity to come and stay on a working farm and enjoy the space and serenity of Baronga Farm House
This 100+ year old farmhouse (and schoolhouse in another life) is great for couples and families wanting to spend time together. Baronga is quite a way from the nearest store so to make the most of your stay, we recommend you bring your food, wine and other supplies with you and kick back in Wendy's garden, inside by the fire or around the outside fire pit.
Baronga is close to Waubra town where you can catch a weekend game of footy and netball or visit the first winery of your stay at Quoin Hill http://www.quoinhill.com.au/ Or nearby Ballarat http://www.visitballarat.com.au/ Or explore the ruggedly beautiful surrounds of the Pyranees wine region http://pyrenees.org.au/
  • A lovely old farmhouse in a beautiful, calm location. Friendly sheep were loved by the kids, nearly as much as the fun and imaginative fairy garden! Renovated bathroom great, and lovely fresh flowers and herbs everywhere. Would warmly recommend.

  • Debbie's place is a spectacular little hide away. The garden was a treat. The nearby hills and wind farm were amazing to see. The children enjoyed feeding the sheep and running around the garden. The central fireplace did an excellent job at keeping us warm.

  • A lovely farm house in the middle of nowhere... precisely what we were after. Fantastic outdoor areas for our 4 year old. We had a truly relaxing getaway and hope to be back one day!

  • Great clean house out in the countryside. You really feel like you are getting away from it all. The house is as described but with a new bathroom (shower) which is very lux and was a nice surprise for us! Good for a stay for Ballarat, clunes or creswick area as all about a 25 min drive. Sheep and garden are terrific. Thanks

Nestled on 4 acres this pretty cottage is a short drive to the Skipton Rail Trail, Lake Burrumbeet, Ballarat, and Mt.Cole National Park. The cottage has beautiful views and is cosy and comfortable inside. Relax by the fire or on the verandah. Enjoy the kookaburras and wrens who visit often.
The Cottage has been a place of Retreat for many years and is in a very peaceful setting, surrounded by gardens and bush. This area has been great for our family as it is a short commute to Ballarat with its beautiful Lake, gardens and tourist attractions. The cottage is a good base for touring the delights of the Goldfield region and Pyrenees Wineries and perfect also for quiet getaways. We offer simple country hospitality. We have a stable and paddock available for horses if needed.
Carngham is a small rural hamlet composed of Hobby farmers, horse lovers and sheep/cattle /crop farming. It is close enough to Ballarat ( a main regional town) and yet far enough away to be quiet and beautiful with its bush, rolling hills and peaceful country environment. The air is fresh and the water is pure. Wildlife abounds in Carngham with many bird species including kookaburras, parrots & wrens, plus there are kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and bush animals living naturally in the bush. Carngham Road is the main road off which are many smaller and often unsealed roads and country lanes. The little town of Snake Valley is nearby which has its own General Store /Post Office and Hotel where a country pub meal can be enjoyed for lunch or dinner. As Carngham is away from city lights, on a clear night it is the perfect place to view the stars of the Southern Hemisphere.
  • We had a lovely stay. We wanted a place to get away from the city and slow down and this was perfect. The house was spotlessly clean and Maree had left so many lovely little touches for us, the breakfast was great including the lovely fresh eggs from her chooks. Our kids have already asked when we can go back to stay again.

  • Lovely cottage set on beautiful property in a peaceful location. The cottage was clean, with plenty of heaters including coonara to cosy up for the cold nights. There were two goats, chickens and an alpaca which delighted our 3yo. It was safe for her to wander and enjoy them and Cassie even provided food for chooks etc. Very prompt with replies. Even left us a lovely bottle of wine. Would love to come back again another time. :)

  • This was our first trip away as a family of 4. The house was stunningly clean, well appointed, and contained everything we needed. Cassie even arranged a travel cot and high chair for our baby girl. The house is based in a great location and the area is a good combination of rural and suburban: you feel like you’re in the middle of nowhere but there’s actually a shopping centre only 10 mins drive away. You’ll love my place because of The location is unique - a country rustic wool shed, we are 45 minutes to either Ballarat or Ararat and about 1 hour to the Grampians. Surrounded by beautiful gums we have lots of lovely birds. We are on 8 acres of land in the Pryenees Shire heart of the wine region. Our hobby farm, we have 12 sheep, 3 small dogs kept in the house whilst we have visitors. People love the real country charm experience and all the little details around the property.
A rustic country shed that has been retro fitted for an authentic country experience. It was a working shearing shed until 2 years ago. Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, fridge, cooktop, charcoal BBQ. Vintage Plates & Cutlery, Bed linen and towels. Great view from LOO, over the beautiful Mt Cole. The price is established for a total of 2 guests, however if there is more than just a couple please email us to advise date and number for people and we will provide you with a price. Its lovely and private
If you do not wish to cook your own breakfast a great breakfast place in Beaufort is Sparrows - in the old Beaufort Garage building...great home cooked bread. The Golden Age pub is the only place open in the evenings for meals after 5pm
  • Thanks Liza — we loved our stay at Raglan! We really liked the rustic feel of the place, the old TVs and the pool table. We look forward to staying with you again. Luke and Karli

  • A comfortable stay, and nice to be somewhere a bit different, in a peaceful spot waking up to the sounds of the birds. Liza was a very helpful host, and the accommodation was fitted out with everything we needed. The electric blankets came in handy on the first night, which was cooler than we expected, and it was lovely to have the pot belly fire to take the edge off too. The location was a perfect base for our planned bushwalks in nearby Langi Ghiran and My Buangor state parks.

    Rosey2019-04-21T00:00:00Z
  • Just enjoyed the most relaxing long weekend at Liza’s place. The barn is rustic but fitted out beautifully with all the comforts of home with lots of country charm and wonderful touches (the fire wood and fresh eggs were life savers). The stars at night are out of this world, and we loved drinking our morning coffee with the sheep. The perfect weekend getaway for anyone wanting to escape the city - either hang out in the barn or head into Grampions National Park or any of the other great close by destinations. Liza was the perfect host. Very communicative via msg, and there if you need her, but also gave us lots of space to just chill out and reconnect. Can’t recommend it enough!

  • Liza has such an awesome and beautiful place! Liza left us to ourselves and made the space very welcoming. Liza warns you about how cold it can get, but make sure to bring extra layers as I didn’t fully believe her until I was there!

    Hannah2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay with Liza was amazing! The fire was going and the room cozy for arrival. The nearest town Beaufort is only 5mins away and has an IGA, pub, bakery, cafes etc. We made the most of the surrounding countryside, and took 2 trips to the Grampians in 2 days! Halls Gap is only 45mins away. The accommodation is exactly what it says - its rustic, but has lovely charm and is cozy and warm with a good fire going. The farm is home to sheep, chickens, ducks and kangaroos. A great stay for a romantic weekend away, but the shed could easy sleep 5 people without being cramped. Has all the amenities- shower, bath, stove, microwave, fridge, TV etc. All in all, a great stay, we will be back and would definitely recommend!

  • This place is amazing. I have already booked again for the next weekend and I just stayed last weekend. This is the first time in my extensive AirBnB history (which is extensive) of booking immediately again because I loved a place so much. Its beautiful, comfortable, little touches that I was pleasantly surprised by, and the host is really accommodating. The surroundings are beautiful. I would live here if I could. Super clean, super pretty, my friends all want the details now after I posted pictures and raved. Its really lovely. Cannot recommend enough.

All that we needed was provided and the extra little touches e.g. flowers and fresh herbs, added to our enjoyment. Kookaburras and other wildlife were abundant and the cottage is close to walking tracks in and around Mt Cole National Park. We will be going back.

  • A charming two storey cabin in the woods, well away from the rat race but with all mod cons. No wifi, but good phone reception. It's an invitation to unplug! Surrounded by open eucalypt forest, you should sit patiently on the verandah and wait for the birds and other wildlife to appear. They will eventually. Wallabies, kangaroo, echidna, stumpy-tailed lizard and a list of 30 bush birds. Get to know the birds as you watch them interact, especially at the bird bath when it's hot. Honeyeaters, thornbills, tree creepers, wrens, choughs, woodswallows, kookaburra, to name a few. Or wander down by the small dams, where you may be lucky enough to see the kingfisher make off with its dinner. We stayed during the recent four day heat wave, and it was still excellent. We're looking forward to revisting this charming spot in another season. Thanks Greg for providing such a haven for nature and nature lovers. Lyn & John.

  • Stayed with Greg for two nights and we had a lovely time, felt relaxed after our stay. Greg was extremely accommodating and we especially enjoyed wondering around the property that he has put a lot of work into. Spotted a couple of wallabies around at dusk and dawn, and the night sky was lovely from this getaway in the woods. Will be sure to stay here again if we want to spend time in this area.

  • Had a wonderful time. Thoughtful and interesting design, absolutely perfect for a large group. Our favourite touches were the large cooking space and long table to eat and socialise around. Highly recommend.

  • Katherine was an exceptional host! The house was beautifully arranged for large groups with homely touches. We loved the small details in the design of the house and the amenities were fantastic. During the hot summer the house was exceptionally cool with fans in each room. Couldn't recommend this location enough. It also has a fireplace perfect for winter. Katherine made our stay that much better. Thank you again :)

  • This is such a special place. My partner and I absolutely loved the School House as our base over the long weekend. The house itself is so cozy, with two heaters to ensure the cold definitely doesn’t get in! You can see that Sarah has a flare for interior design, as each space within the home is so beautifully furnished. The gardens surrounding the house were absolutely magical to wonder through, allowing us to easily forget the craziness and stress of the city. To top it all off, Sarah provided us with a most delicious home cooked meal with ingredients from the property’s garden. She even catered to my partner’s vegan dietary requirements with no hassle. If you are vegan and plan to head to this property, ask about the vegan chocolate cake- pure heaven!!! The location itself is very central; nestled in between wineries, antique and vintage stores, delis and cafes. We had a ball in neighbouring Beaufort as well as a bit further up in historic Ararat. We absolutely loved staying here! Thank you so much, Sarah!!!
