Rachel is an excellent host. Very helpful and friendly and obliging. I had as much quiet and conversation as I desired. A quiet house, incredibly clean and comfortable room with parking space right outside. I was able to store food in the fridge and refreeze my ice packs. Perfect for a single lady traveller. Somerton is a jewel of a lovely quaint English market town with a few quirky, nice shops, a tea shop and pubs town too. You can walk into town in just a couple of minutes.

After a very kind welcome Rachel asked us about our plans and she provided great maps and tips. It was also great to feel that Rachel loves to have guests! She really lives 'mi casa es su casa' ! It's a real pleasure to meet Rachel and to stay with her. We stayed for two nights, and it was to short..... Somerton is only 15 minutes drive from Glastonbury and easy to reach and find!

Central, clean, comfortable and peaceful

Rachel's home is immaculately clean and tidy and perfectly situated in Somerton, close enough to walk into the centre for food (just a couple of minutes) but also in a quiet little street - I had the best sleep I've had for ages in the comfy bed after a busy day driving and visiting Stonehenge! Rachel is such a welcoming host and gave lots of tips about the local area. Definitely recommended!

I had a lovely stay at Rachel's. She is a delightful host, full of bubble and charm, not to mention her 'locals' knowledge of the area. Rachel's place itself, it is extremely comfortable and well appointed - like a home away from home and spotlessly clean. It is only a short distance from the centre of Somerton, making it convenient for the local shops and pubs as well as the buses should you need them. My visit to Somerton was all too short but, courtesy of Rachel's advice, I was able to make the most of my mini break, with a couple of lovely meals out (Kingsdon Inn had particularly good food) and a long walk along a stretch of Macmillan Way. I've promised myself I shall visit again as there is plenty more to see. Overall, it was a lovely trip, in a lovely home with an extremely welcoming host, so thank you Rachel!

Paul and Lina are fabulous hosts, very helpful, friendly, welcoming-everything you would want from your host. The room was very cosy, comfortable and homely, with tea, coffee and bottled water available in room. The private bathroom was clean and in good working order. We used the private dining/living area for breakfast which was well laid out with a very good choice of fruit, cereals, spreads, tea, coffee, juice, yogurt. We didn't realise that the buses don't run on a Sunday, so as it happened Paul was able to take my mom and daughter to Street, as I was using the car elsewhere. How great is that! Somerton is a quaint and beautiful town, its a pity we were there for just 1 night. The postcode supplied once we booked took us exactly to the street and the photo of the front of the house was very useful in helping us to identify the exact door. I highly recommend-excellent value for money.

I stayed for 1 night with my son (14) and daughter (11). When we arrived at Paul & Lina's we were very warmly welcomed and shown our room. We had our own bedroom (which was on the top floor after 2 sets of stairs), our own bathroom and lounge area (which is in the basement), this was a fantastic additional space for my kids and I. Once settled, we took a stroll around town browsing in the shops and antique centre. Lina asked if the kids would like pancakes for breakfast and whether they'd like to help make them tonight. My daughter was delighted to help, she especially liked the idea of putting chocolate chips in the mixture!! We decided on fish and chips for our tea and were more than happy to walk the short walk there with Lina and the dogs - George & Graisie. In the morning our lounge had been set up for us which was wonderful, we were greeted with a wide range of breakfast goodies. Nothing was too much, Paul and Lina were fantastic, warm hosts who clearly love where they live and what they do. Thank you both for making us feel such a part of your home.

Paul and Lina's place is a delight! It is full of history and very quaint throughout the house. The room is up a few flights of stairs and looking out the window onto the rooftops is like being in a secret, magical world. The beds are very comfortable and the room has everything you need. The location is great; there are three pubs and several shops in walking distance so there's no need to use your car once you arrive! Paul and Lina were so helpful. Communication was easy and they couldn't do enough to help us even offering us advice on the local area. Breakfast was delicious and just what we needed to start the day. A selection of toast, cereals, fruit, yoghurts and drinks to choose from all set up in the beautiful converted basement / den area. Thank you for a great stay. Would definitely recommend!

Andrew and Pip are simply THE BEST hosts I've ever experienced using Air BnB. They are extremely accommodating and make you feel like one of the family right from the start. This was my second time staying at Etsome House and certainly won't be my last. My husband and I and two of our friends arrived rather late on Tuesday night for our pre-Glastonbury one night stay. Andrew and Pip welcomed us with open arms and shared a bottle of wine with us. We enjoyed lovely conversation with them that evening and the next morning over breakfast. They invited us back for some post-Glasto recovery time if we decided we needed it. Sadly, we all had to get back to children and dogs after the festival, but we plan to visit Etsome House again before the summer is through! It really is a stunning bit of countryside with lots to see and do within easy reach (Somerton, Glastonbury, etc). This place is a gem! ❤️❤️❤️

I was warmly welcomed by Pip and Andrew who did everything possible to make my stay in Theo's room very comfortable. They are both friendly and very easy to talk to and nothing was too much trouble for them. I unreservedly commend their home as a welcoming place to stay.

Cecily was the perfect host - she made us feel super welcome. She was flexible with my sliding arrival time and clearly takes pride in her lovely house (which she has renovated beautifully), and she had already thought of everything we could need (but I'm certain if she hadn't she'd be happy to help) - from utensils in the kitchen and essential condiments to being happy to advise about the local area and supermarkets etc. It was clean, comfortable and a perfect base for a 3-day cycling event because there was plenty of space to stretch! Would definitely recommend this and would stay here again too.

We have such a wonderful time in Somerton, the garden room really is so lovely - the photos don't do it justice. Our little dog loved the two resident dogs and we enjoyed watching them play. The garden room really has everything you could ask for, we cant wait to come back.

The Garden Room exceeds all expectations when looking for a break in the Somerset countryside. The Garden Room itself is such a wonderful place to stay at - large but very cosy with a mix of beautiful antique furniture. You won't want to leave! It's surrounded by peaceful countryside but only a short drive to pretty Somerton. Andy and Vivienne are the most perfect hosts, who made us feel incredibly welcome and were there if we needed anything during our stay. There is a great mix of things to do in the area - including national trust attractions, antique hunting, some great pubs and lovely walks. We can't recommend this place highly enough and we will certainly be coming back!

The garden room was fantastic and way above our expectations, we couldn't have been made more welcome and everything had been thought of in the cabin. We had the best night sleep on the comfiest bed and the views and surrounding countryside were lovely. Great location and central to lots of things to do, we can't wait to stay again.

We had a lovely weekend getaway at Andy and Vivienne's. They were very welcoming to us and our greyhound/saluki pup! We enjoyed sitting outside in the evening listening to the sounds of the country and our dog enjoyed walking around their beautiful gardens. The room was beautifully decorated with a super comfortable bed! It's a great place to get away from the city and ideal for exploring Somerset. We hope to come back soon!

We had the most relaxing time in a beautiful home. Andrew and Vivienne were superb hosts and we were made to feel instantly at home. We'll be back to explore the local area because we didn't make it out much due to being so cosy!

We loved the garden room. It is a special place, beautifully decorated and very unique. The bed was really comfortable and separated from the main space by curtains, offering privacy and a cosy feel. The kitchenette was well equipped and there is a supermarket a short drive away for breakfast supplies (tea and biscuits provided). We loved the comfy armchairs, books to peruse and little outdoor seating areas. There is an enclosed gravel yard around the building which was a perfect outdoor space for our 21 month old son to explore. There are also beautiful gardens next to the house, which includes a small paddock, fruit trees and rose bushes. Andy and Vivienne gave us a warm welcome and were very helpful and friendly hosts. The garden room is really intended for a couple or single person, but Andy kindly agreed to allow us to bring our child's nanny so that we could attend our friends' wedding nearby, on condition we paid an extra fee and brought an inflatable mattress and bedding. In fact the sofa was so comfortable that Manu our nanny slept there and our son Innes on the blow up as we were not able to bring a travel cot. Check out was at 10am; we struggled to make this following the wedding party and getting packed up and ready with toddler in tow. Andy and Vivienne were anxious to get the place ready for new guests arriving - we apologise again for the delay leaving, hope they will forgive us and have us back to stay again! We would highly recommend this delightful place for a unique stay in beautiful Somerset.

We were met on arrival by Andrew and Vivienne who gave us all the information that we needed for our stay. The accommodation was very well equipped with everything that we would need and much more. The setting is perfect for a countryside retreat. We took our little dog with us and found plenty of beautiful walks. The local pub was lovely - but I would recommend booking if you want to eat in there as it is popular. Will definitely arrange another stay soon.

Tucked away down a lane, the stables is a quiet retreat and feels really rural, even though it is only 5 mins walk into the town of Somerton with all amenities. Great accommodation for Children - our 2 enjoyed exploring the orchard and enjoyed using the hot tub. It's a good base for exploring the area. Cheddar Gorge, Lyme Regis and lots of National Trust properties within an easy drive.

This is on the outskirts of a lovely village, but you would honestly think you were in the middle of the countryside. It was incredibly peaceful and secluded with lots of opportunities for outside living. The orchard was lovely, and while we didn't use the fire-pit or BBQ, everything was there if we wanted to. The accommodation is bigger than it appears in the pictures, with lovely vines forming a canopy on the large patio outside. We were made very welcome - fresh flowers in all of the rooms and a homemade cake, and also a basket of wood was brought to us in case we wanted to light the fire. Location was excellent too - we visited the Dorset coast for fossil hunting, it was very close to Street to take the kids swimming (and shop in Clarks Village) and only 6 miles from Glastonbury abbey. The village has a great independent supermarket and is a 5 minute walk away.

Gorgeous little peaceful haven to chill in. Everything you need is there with all the charm and quaintness in the world. Children's bedroom and main bedroom were so cozy, we didn't want to leave. Ideal to get away from noise and busy daily life. Great base to explore Somerset.

Alles is voorzien. Er waren nog wat beginnersfoutjes. Bijvoorbeeld geen handleiding voor de verwarming en ook geen toeristische informatie aanwezig in het huisje. De setting is ook behoorlijk avontuurlijk voor kinderen. Een ruim terrein om te spelen, boomhut, kampvuurplaats (zeker aan te raden!), hottub, eekhoorntjes die dagelijks om je heen trippelen. Ook Somerton is stadje met gebouwen met een geschiedenis tot in de 14e eeuw. Winkels genoeg, van supermarkt tot healthfoodstore.

Paul is a hands-on host who makes a big effort to ensure his guests are comfortable. He gave me a lift to a pub 10 mins away and offered a lift back. I didn't have breakfast but all was organized for that and there's plenty of space to relax. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom exactly what you need. Somerton is a pleasant lively town in the middle of Somerset. Private parking, good WiFi, quiet, easy host.

Delightful room in a house with history. The town and everything you could want is within walking distance. If you wish to go further afield there is lots to see and do in nearby villages. Park up and pick from some old style pubs to modern restaurants to enjoy a pint or a meal. Paul is a great host who has lots of local knowledge if you wish to explore the area. Nothing is too much trouble. The house is comfortable and welcoming. Enjoy your stay!

The property is located on the edge of the small town of Sommerton. To the Maktplatz it is still only about 6 minutes. It is not large but well furnished. Through a separate entrance you reach the small lounge, which is followed by the bedroom and bathroom with shower and hand wash basin as well as separate toilets. To the self-supply are a new, small electric oven with a baking oven and on the top two cooking plates, a toaster, water cooker and refrigerator. Kitchen utensils are available. We enjoyed our breakfast in the typical English-designed garden. Especially the friendly, uncomplicated, restrained kind of Cecily pleased us.

A great little room with private shower room and toilet. Very relaxing and just what we needed. Cecily welcomed us in and showed us to the room but after that we did didn't see Cecily again as we enjoyed eating out and had our own private entrance. We had a great stay, thank you!

We were made very welcome while visiting the area for a family wedding. Andrew and Pip are very friendly and treated us like family in their cosy home. They recommended a pub with really good food for supper, provided a welcome cup of tea and delicious breakfasts on a veranda covered in vines and geraniums, helped us with wedding preparations by providing an iron and even making sure we had a family photo before we set off for the day. Thanks for looking after us so well.

Andrew and Pip made us feel very welcome! Andrew greeted us on arrival and helped carry our luggage upstairs. He gave us a brief tour and told us to make ourselves at home. ("Make yourself at home" are the key words here as Etsome House is very much a place that feels like home as you are treated like one of the family from the moment you arrive). My friend and I were only in town for one night to attend the Glastonbury Abbey Extravaganza. Pip helped us arrange the taxi in to town for the concert with their neighbor who runs a local taxi service. As Pip was attending the same event later that night, she was also kind enough to give us lift home herself. The next morning we awoke to sunshine and the beautiful Somerset countryside along with fresh coffee/tea and toast on their lovely farm house veranda. (The pictures of Etsome House here on the website really don't do it justice - you must see it in all of its splendor in person!). We had to leave fairly early to head back towards London, but Pip gave us some wonderful tips for some "off the beaten path" exploring we should do when next we're in the area. We will definitely be back to stay at Etsome House again soon. (P.S. We didn't realize that there would be other guests staying there too as we didn't realize that there were other rooms available to stay in. This was not a problem as the other guests staying there were lovely. But it might be nice for future guests if Air BnB could somehow make it more clear on the website that other rooms are available as Etsome House is essentially a true B n B).

Great cottage providing a nice location to explore the local area. Plenty of parking with a well provisioned kitchen, a wonderfully powerful shower in the bathroom, comfy social areas and plenty of space for four of us to co-habit without getting in each others way

We are a family of 4 (2 kids; age 8 and 5) and we had a great time. We were out most days at local attractions and we enjoyed riding our bikes around the area. We loved coming back to our 'holiday home' to use the hot tub and the table tennis. Gill even opened the outdoor swimming pool (its normally closed until May) for us because the weather was nice :)

We booked the barn for 3 nights, just to get away for my husbands 50th birthday. The barn was nice and clean, the garden was enclosed. We had to walk into another garden to get to the hot tub, certainly not private as described. Gill welcomed us and told us a few things about the area, which was fine. Being honest, there wasn’t much chemistry between us and Gill made no effort to smile. There is a woodturner, which is the main source of heating, during the cold months you’ll need to pay £5 for a small bag of logs, which we thought was a bit tight and not in the description. The description stated wifi (subsequently changed post our complaint). Yes there is wifi, maybe in other barns and only if you stand at the far end of the barn and point your phone out of the window pointing towards the larger barn. Come on, real world!Our phones and laptops couldn't find any signal;-(. Gill kept saying it’s not a business trip, we know, we were there for a 50th birthday celebration. When we spoke to Gill about this she was dismissive, basically she couldn’t care less. Gill made us feel stupid for suggesting there should be wifi, if it was stated in the description, it should be available. In the barn you could read there is a problem with think walls and troubles with wifi. Gill was belligerent and kept stating we were in the countryside, we knew that. She was clearly agitated and didn’t care about showing it. Our little puppy jumped up onto the chair and she ‘whacked’ it down shouting “get off the furniture”. She forgot herself. Last straw for us, we left. Gill said she would give us a full refund, she also said she didn’t want people like us in her barn, sorry for asking for wifi! We didn’t get a full refund. Gill refused to pay amount which Airbnb suggested. What a nightmare!

This was a perfect place for my girlfriend and I to relax at the start of the holiday. Very cosy barn, with excellent facilities plus a hottub and pool! Good trips within driving distance as well.

Gill was very welcoming; the cottage was exactly as described. We loved the hot tub and games in the barn. We had a lovely time, very cosy in the evening with the log burner. Definitely recommend it and will hopefully return in the summer months so we can use the pool and sauna!

Zazie's place is a perfect retreat, quiet peaceful with lovely walks. Zazie and Greg are the perfect hosts, they have a calm and relaxing nature. The house is quite basic but has everything you need. My mum and me came to visit Glastonbury and we are so happy to have stayed at Zazie's place in Compton Dundon approx 10 minutes drive away. It's the perfect peaceful spot to relax in if you want to visit Glastonbury. Zazie was such a welcoming and lovely host, can't say enough good things about her. The house was gorgeous too, so many lovely and thoughtful touches and a comfortable bed. We highly recommended staying here.

If your looking for quiet and place to appreciate the wonderful historical backdrop of the area its a great place to stay. If your looking for a super sleek hotel, well it wont be to your liking but it has great charm. The walk up the hill with 360 views of the Tor and area, the Yew tree, the proximity to things to do are great. The bed was the most comfortable bed I'd slept in in all my month long travels!! I slept so amazingly well! I was so grateful. The room was clean, and as pictured.

we enjoyed the location but the house hadn't been cleaned in a very long time. the garbage bin was filled to the brim with smelly old food. the fridge was dirty with rotting food. the sheets didn't appear to have been changed & there were no towels for our use. in fairness we did only book the day before, and greg was away, but he should make arrangements for someone to clean or to let people know the condition of the place. it is a lovely area for walking and the house is spacious with a lovely garden.

Greg has been very reactive considering the short notice we gave him. Very good communication. Due to our late arrival we just met briefly but Greg was very welcoming.

Perfect Pink rural retreat, simple and minimalistic indoors, with wonderful garden space and grounds. A place to relax, unwind and walk. Many thanks Greg.
