Just booked in Southworth

This sweet cottage is the guesthouse next to our home. Just a mile from downtown Vashon on a bluff overlooking Puget Sound, it feels completely remote. Come jump across the water, and in just about an hour, be completely away from it all!
Vashon Island is a beautiful, enchanting place, and our guest cottage is set at one of the most gorgeous spots on the island. The view literally takes your breath away; it looks out at Puget Sound, the Cascade mountains, and sunrises that astound. Nestled above the water on a high bluff, the cottage is located near the bottom of a wooded, dead-end road. It is kitty corner from our house, so the view out the front windows is unimpeded by the house, yet close enough to stop by if you have any needs, questions, or just want to say hello. Public access to the rocky beach below is just a short walk down the road. Bald eagles regularly soar by, seals call, and occasionally a pod of orcas will bound through the passage. You can make yourself cozy indoors and out. The cottage is beautifully built with wood everywhere, cathedral ceilings, large windows, skylights, and a peaceful feel. Make a cup of tea and sit by the fire as you watch the boats drift by. Outdoors there are benches, (shared with our house), and greenery all around. The cottage radiates an inviting warmth which permeates your being; the perfect place for a writers retreat or relaxing, romantic getaway. You could never leave this oasis and be very happy, but if you are inspired to explore, Vashon is well worth venturing out. Take walks in one of the many parks and wooded areas, or for miles along the beach; bike around the island roads, or take a mountain bike ride on the extensive state lands trails; go visit art galleries, antique shops and restaurants; try horseback riding, or rent a kayak on Quartermaster Harbor. One may find it hard to believe such an island paradise is so close to two major cities (Seattle and Tacoma), but time seems to have stopped on Vashon, and it's a magical place to be. Come and visit, and let the spell work on you!
Our home and the cottage are on a dead-end road that leads right to the beach and Puget Sound. The road is wooded from top to bottom, and it is lovely to walk up and down in either direction. Walking up will lead you to town, which is only a mile away. Walking down leads to a path down to the beach, where you can walk for miles during low tide..
  • Sure enjoyed the Cottage. The place is just as described. The extra bonus is the quietness of the location. We walked down to the water and enjoyed the views. Host is lovely.

  • The unit was private and spacious. Our host was available when we needed her, but not intrusive. The driveway and parking were a little challenging, but not insurmountable!

  • We had an excellent relaxing stay. Great view and so close to town. We'd definitely come back!

  • Lovely little studio/cottage. We enjoyed our stay very much. Beautiful view!

  • Suzanne's cottage for the mini-getaway my boyfriend and I had been looking for. The cottage was perfectly homey and cozy, and had a great view of the water. The kitchen was fully stocked and perfect for preparing a quick, delicious breakfast--Suzanne even provided us delicious coffee and tea! Suzanne is the perfect host--friendly and helpful but not intrusive. I would definitely recommend her very charming, sunny cottage to anyone who wants to have their own piece of Vashon Island for a weekend.

  • My wife and I stayed at Suzzane's house for a week and we had an absolute wonderful time ! The house is very charming and well appointed. Everything that you need is there and it's very well maintained. The location couldn't be better . The view is amazing. The island is fantastic with lot's to do or just relax and enjoy the view. We cooked dinner at the cottage half the nights and went out the other evening's. The restaurant we really loved was La Boucherie which is 5 minutes away and probably some of the best food we have ever had. Suzzane and her roommate Michelle were a pleasure to meet and we will definitely be coming back (Website hidden by Airbnb) Dannelle and Alan

Our eco-friendly tiny house and bath cabin is an oasis amid towering fir trees on beautiful Vashon Island. Experience small house living first hand. We are 2 minutes from town and close to hiking trails. Our connected cabins are good for couples, singles, and small families. The cabin sleeps 4 with queen bed downstairs and queen bed in the loft. This property is earth-friendly and has toilet, shower and sink in a separate cabin connected by an outdoor walkway.
The sleeping cabin has one queen bed on the main floor in a built-in alcove with another queen bed in the sleeping loft. It has incredible views of giant fir trees and has a kitchenette with fridge, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker. The bathroom is in the separate cabin connected by a 10 foot walkway. The toilet is a high-end composting toilet system that flushes with water and feels similar to a regular toilet but is best for our remote location. We have put a lot of effort into creating a beautiful detailed space that has very little impact on our unique island environment. Be aware that there are stairs to enter the cabin and a ladder to the loft if you are considering mobility issues.
We are 7 minutes from the Northend ferry, 2 minutes from town and the property is bordered by a Vashon- Maury land trust property that has many linked hiking trails just feet away. It is a great romantic getaway and is also perfect for bikers looking to bike the island for the weekend. We are also close to Dragon's Head Cider headquarters. They have an amazing property with tasting hours on the weekend.
  • This is a truly magical place. It's the Airbnb experience you dream about. We arrived to the cabin in the evening, and the warm glow from the cabin was inviting. Kristen left us a welcoming note in her old school love letter handwriting, and some small chocolates to enjoy. We slept peacefully, and we woke up to a beautiful view of the forest from our windows. Kristen greeted us in the morning with some home baked goods, and we really appreciated her kindness and hospitality. The cabin and property has very good energy, and we would love to make another trip to Vashon Island and stay here again in the future. This place is dreamy! Thank you Kristen!

    Anna2016-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • Could not be happier with our stay here. Kristin was incredibly helpful and the house was very special. Our young kids loved it, too. A great place to get cozy!

    Laura2017-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • Kristen's tiny home is the perfect get away

    S. Tristan2017-05-11T00:00:00Z
  • This hideaway is absolutely perfect for your next visit to Vashon Islans. It's easy to get to from the ferry and is just minutes from town, yet the moment you turn onto the property, you immediately feel transported into a lush forest. The awesome little cabin is comfortably furnished and makes for a cozy, quiet get-away. The beds were very comfortable and the homemade breakfast treats and coffee in the morning were a real delight. The balance of feeling well-taken care of and left alone was perfect- we'd love to come back for a quiet, peaceful stay on the island another time soon!

    Larisa 2017-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • My relatives had a great stay at Kristen's place, highly recommended!

    Yann2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • Nestled in a private forest in the Pacific Northwest on a quiet island in the south sound sits a Tiny House with HUGE charm! (and that includes the hosts!) The house is comfy, cozy and just what you need for a relaxing getaway. Close to town, walking trails and the beach (you are on an island). It has everything Kristen says it has, so no need to worry about that. Beds are comfortable and cabin is private. Don't let the 'outhouse' stop you, think of it as glamping... it is the fanciest, high-end outhouse ever and a great shower!

    Cyndi2017-08-23T00:00:00Z
  • We very much enjoyed our stay at this lovely little hideaway in the forest. Small but perfectly formed, we found it to be very warm and comfortable while we watching the rain coming down outside of the window. Our girls had a great time exploring the loft, while we enjoyed the queen bed in its own little alcove; this felt like an ideal grown ups’ treehouse! Kristen was lovely and came down to make sure that we’d arrived okay, and delighted us by bringing delicious baked goods for breakfast the next morning. We would very much recommend this—and already have friends asking about it after posting photos online—and may well come back again ourselves in the summer to explore Vashon when it’s a little warmer outside!

    Kriss2016-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • Kristen's place was absolutely perfect. We didn't get to spend as much time as we would've liked, but it was a joy to stay. Her baked goods in the morning were delicious and she was only a text or email away!

  • Brian made us feel welcome by offering his beautiful place with us, and offering his mobile number should we need anything else (which we did not with a view like that). There was also a ton of information about the island we were staying on in the house, and plenty of dishes, pots and pans, etc. available for use within the house which was very charming (although we did not spend much time in there). One area of caution: if you are unable to hike a few steps, 3-4 flights, this may not be the place for you.

    Mandy2015-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Description of the house/property was accurate, and the house was very close to the ferry terminal (but down the hill and tucked enough away that you couldn't see cars lined up and people waiting for the ferry weren't around the house.) We really enjoyed our stay and how close we were to the water. We could play on the small beach and/or sit in the house and watch the water, ferries and waves roll in. There were also a few harbor seals that we enjoyed watching. You could hear the water and sounds of the ferry traffic. It was nice, not too loud, and our kids loved it. The house had a few games/books/movies, which was a nice touch. Everything was simple and clean and the house has a good amount of space to easily put luggage/clothes. The beds were comfortable too and linens/pillows nice with extras in the closet. Nice and relaxing. Brian was super easy to communicate with and organized with the timing of info, etc..

    Kim2016-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • This place is amazing! We just spent a week enjoying the lovely sea sounds, watching ferries, and exploring Vashon. We had six adults and two babies and the place was spacious enough for all of us. Luckily for us it was blackberry season and we found them everywhere during our walks. Saturday morning there was a great farmers market downtown. We were shocked how many ferries come and go so no need to worry about getting back to Seattle. Overall I would highly recommend Brian's cottage retreat!

    Em2014-08-09T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first airbnb experience and it could not have been better! My boyfriend and i were visiting Vashon, where he grew up, and we decided to stay on the island for a night as a fluke. We contacted Brian at about 1pm on the day we hoped to spend a night and he got back to us so quickly, got the place cleaned and we were checked in by three pm an this waterside retreat! The place was clean and well-stocked with movies, video games, and lots of blankets and towels. The stairs down to the house also made it feel very secluded while still being about as close to the ferry as humanly possible. Thank you Brian!!!

    Caileen2014-01-18T00:00:00Z
  • This was exactly what I hoped based on the listing and other reviews: lovely setting, attractive inside and out, clean, comfortable, quiet, convenient for the ferry and a short ride to Vashon town centre with it's Saturday farmer's market. I enjoyed watching the birds and ferries while sipping my morning coffee. Brian was responsive and has things set up well for short term visitors. The bus service to downtown Seattle worked a treat. It was less easy to get a taxi to come to the Fauntleroy ferry terminal to pick us up at the weekend when the water taxi to downtown Seattle is not running - I recommend you plan on using the bus (every 15 minutes and takes 30 minutes) if not taking a car. Highly recommended and will definitely try to book again when in Seattle.

  • The beach house was perfect. An easy 3 minute walk from the ferry. Perfect get-away. Extremely well thought out amenities; kitchen, bath, entertainment and even games, very cool.

Quiet, forested community near the north end ferry to both Seattle and the Kitsap Peninsula. We are approximately 25 minutes from the south end ferry to Tacoma and points south.
  • This was our first experience staying at an air bnb and I have no words to express how much we loved it. The treehouse alone is absolutely amazing. But once you take a walk around and see everything else it's even better. I felt like we were in a movie. Helen and Robert are so nice and welcoming. We're already making plans to come back with friends and family!

    Calli2017-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • It was a really cool place to visit. The property has amazing features. The treehouse is a work of art and was so comfortable. We only wished we could have stayed longer, and we plan on coming back.

    Amanda2017-11-17T00:00:00Z
  • Words cannot describe how special this place and overall experience was for my boyfriend and I. Robert and Helen were wonderful hosts, they put so much care into making our experience more enjoyable. Right off the bat if you have to shower twice a day, smoke cigarettes, and watch tv 24 hrs a this probably isn't the place for you. The treehouse is super cozy and surrounded by nature and positive energy. The property and Indonesian buildings are breathtaking and everything in all directions is green. There are hiking trails all around the property so bring extra shoes! No Tv, no wifi in the treehouse but there is in the bath house, no running water, but there was fresh well water in jugs on the outside patio and it wasn't an issue. Be sure that when you do get to the island that you have a car or a ride share because the island is very hilly, and the walk to the grocery store is pretty strenuous. There are a million other things I could say about this place, it's so overwhelming! I am looking forward to coming back here, we will definitely be returning!!

    Makaela2017-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • This is am absolutely gorgeous place. Everywhere you look is an amazing tranquil setting. Our hosts were helpful and inviting. We spent thanksgiving on the island and enjoyed a dinner in town. Instructions were thorough and we will book again!

    Christina2017-11-26T00:00:00Z
  • At first I was a bit weary of getting to Vashon Island, since I had never taken a ferry by myself but the host helped me through it with very detailed instructions. I always get lost and the caretakers for the property were available for me to call them and literally talk me through the directions. This allowed me not to stress over the small stuff which is exactly what I need on vacation:) When I arrived Hellen walked with me to the treehouse and explained all the little details that provided to be very helpful. The room itself was so perfectly cozy and even in the middle of October with the central heater on I slept with the windows open and listened to the rain, tree frogs, and owls as I drifted off to sleep. When I awoke I texted Helen and she showed me around the two ancient buildings on the property and told me the fascinating history behind them. I then wandered around the property and a marked trail that was just beautiful. I had such an amazing solo one night trip I can't wait to come back soon to do even more exploring!

    Nicole2017-10-20T00:00:00Z
  • Helen and Robert are very excellent hosts. Make sure to ask about the additional services they offer!! The property is absolutely jaw dropping. Ponds, easy access to hiking trails, tea house, Indonesian building, Chinese warehouse, wildlife and so much more. It's really something to see! We will definitely becoming back often.

    Mike2017-10-07T00:00:00Z
  • To start off, the property is absolutely stunning, arriving through a great big gate, to a beautiful indonesian building on the left. Walking to the treehouse we were a bit nervous, not really expecting the greatest but what we got was even better than great, in fact it almost takes your breath away seeing the artwork put into all of the wood, definitely coming back to stay again!

    Bradley2017-09-30T00:00:00Z
  • The property is huge and if you have the time I would take advantage of exploring it. Couldn’t have ask for a better location to be surrounded by such beauty.

Spacious, equipped, and ready for your peaceful getaway, this contemporary, light-filled stylish studio boasts a chef's breakfast bar, private wraparound porch, clawfoot tub & separate walk-in shower. Located on small family run personal farm, we offer organic eggs & produce (and farm fresh goodies such as pickles, jams and meat). Minutes to Vashon town, stone's throw to miles of wooded trails, convenient to beaches, ferries. Seasoned air bnb hosts, islanders, Seattleites and world travelers.
Family-friendly! Queen-size bed, and a pullout couch for the kids. The kitchen is equipped with the basics, including lots of counter space, and has both a breakfast bar and a dining table. Three sets of French doors open onto a sitting deck and lots of greenery. There's an outdoor fireplace to use, a seasonal hammock, plus yoga mats and a collection of some of our favorite books.
The west side of Vashon Island is peaceful and coveted for its afternoon light. Owls can be heard and deer seen in the evening; sheep graze in the pasture down below. Vashon is a bucolic island, just a 20-minute ferry ride from Seattle, boasting bakeries, twice-a-week farmers' markets, garden and farm tours, wineries, cideries, a distillery, hiking and mountain biking trails, great beaches, horse riding, kayaking and more.

  • We were warmly welcomed by Nic and Kristen with fresh eggs from their chickens in the beautiful cottage in the woods. Their two sweet cats were friendly outside which we loved since we missed our own. We really enjoyed our stay there and look forward to staying again in future visits to Vashon Island.

    Linda2015-12-27T00:00:00Z
  • The picture looks much nicer than the real thing. First off, all the furniture, and shelving is not as nice, and the picture shows a TV, which there is none. We do like late night TV, not that it's a deal breaker, but still it is a bit misleading to show a picture that is NOT the way it looks now. Overall, the property needs some definite TLC. Inside and outside. Not to say it was dirty, but definitely not sparkling clean, and many things needed attention and/or repairs or updated. (window shades, for sure!) But there were some nice things about it. Such as the light...skylights, etc. Great for the gloomy days that existed while we were there. And if you like quiet isolation in the midst of trees, it's perfect.

    Grant2015-10-11T00:00:00Z
  • Super cozy space with all the fixins to unwind. My bf and I relaxed after a day of hiking with some reading (they have great selections), puzzle making, and card playing. The bed was super comfortable and we enjoyed the silence of being tucked away in the woods! We made breakfast in the morning and were grateful for all the kitchen supplies. Really loved all the windows, the evergreens, and the cleanliness of the space. Thanks!

With sweeping coastline and Puget Sound views, this incredible waterfront cottage is the perfect island getaway. Vashon Island is just a 20 minute ferry ride from Seattle and feels like you are a world away.
This cabin offers ultimate privacy and serenity. There is one house to the north but no immediate neighbors to the south. It is close to both ferry terminals and 10 minutes from the town of Vashon. The cabin is 1,050 square feet, has one full bedroom and half bedroom/sunroom that has a daybed that can sleep one. There is also an option to use a queen sized inflatable mattress. Pets will be considered on a case by case basis. It should also be noted that there are about 70 stairs from the parking area down to the cabin.
  • We very much enjoyed our stay at the Lookout Cabin--the view was as beautiful as the photos suggest, the king size bed was comfortable, the house was well appointed and the beach access was amazing--it felt very private, like having our own private beach. A great spot for a girls weekend or a romantic weekend.

    Amanda2015-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • The island and Grace and Kyle's home was exactly what we were looking for when looking for a relaxing getaway with a view. The house is incredibly private and right on the beach. The view from the kitchen, living room and bedroom looks like you are in the middle of the water. It was incredibly clean and had everything we needed. We had plans to go out and explore the island but were so cozy and content we spent most of our time on the island. Grace and Kyle were incredibly communicative. I would recommend this house to anyone!

  • This was a wonderful get away even at Christmas! The view was spectacular and the setting is very private. The house was very clean and perfect. Highly recommend this wonderful cabin!

  • The lookout cabin is a great getaway place if you need sometime off from all busy noisy life. The view is a awesome and mornings here are picture perfect. The only thing to notice here is that it requires you to take a ferry to Vashon Island from Seattle that adds about 30mins to your travel time if you are planning to hang out or visit some places in Seattle. Stephanie is an awesome host. She has been extremely helpful and prompt with her responses

  • We enjoyed our wedding anniversary couple of nights at Lookout Cabin. The view cannot be beat!! Watching ships, ferries, wildlife and the cascades, gorgeous!! We actually stayed at the cabin most of the time, ate all our meals in and found it well equipped and comfortable for that. We didn't have great weather, rain and chilly, but the cabin was cozy. Vashon Island has a lot to offer in scenic drives and beautiful parks, which we did one day.

Also, Kimberly shared goodies from her bakery that were Soooo Goooood. Those lemon cookies were the best I have had, in my life... Literally. THE. BEST. Besides the treats, we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again! Excellent hosts, highly recommend them!

  • My husband was going away for work and last minute found Mike and Kimberly's place the communication was quick and clear the place was very clean Kimberly did not leave out any details the fridge was stocked and homemade goodies were left i would recommend staying here to anyone interested you wont be disappointed

  • We had a wonderful stay in Twin Creeks Cottage. The guest room was very clean and very nice. Upon arrival, we found Kimberly had stocked the mini refrigerator with breakfast goodies and a bottle of wine! She also gave us cookies and apple cider mix from her bakery and they were yummy! The neighborhood was quiet and you could see the spectacular view of the bay. The B&B is about 5 minutes from the beach/main road by car and 20 minutes by foot so it is very convenient. The only thing was there were 3 of us (hubby, teenager son and me) and we found out it might get a bit crowded with three people. But we were told there was additional room upstairs for rent so that option was available. Overall, we had a very nice time staying at this B&B.

  • Nice clean space. If you aren't fond of steps you won't like the loft bedroom but it worked out great for us!

    Carolyn2017-10-18T00:00:00Z
  • Loved Mike and Kimberly's place! Very quiet and peaceful. The boys loved their own loft area and it was so nice sitting outside on a beautiful night and playing games. About 15 minute walk down to the Manchester waterfront and boat dock.

This is a tiny unit, a part of a 1940's 3-plex. Only a short ferry ride to downtown Seattle. Great biking, miles and miles of forest trails, and so many beaches. The hideaway is right in town, a block away from most of the island's restaurants and shops.
It is tiny and really nicely furnished with a great bed. The ceiling is low at 6'3", and sometimes is not perfecct for tall guests....
It is only a block from downtown Vashon.
  • Though it was a short overnight stay, the Uptown Hideaway was exactly what I was looking for. Comfortable bed, shower, and close walk to shops and restaurants. Looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the island.

  • This is very well located and though small has everything you might need.

  • We loved the little en suite and location! Don't miss the "secret alley" with doors to the stars! It's on your way to downtown ;).

  • We've stayed here twice now. Great place in a great location on Vashon. Check in was easy and Amy was so accommodating!!

  • Everything was as described, including the low ceiling. Works for anyone under 6' but taller than that should think twice. Nice accommodations and no problem accessing the place. Didn't get a chance to meet the hosts, but it was a short stay.

  • The hideaway was super cozy and peaceful. Very clean and my host was very helpful with directions and very flexible with arrival and departure times. I would love to go back!

One of the three listings on our 10 acre property in the woods just a 5 minute walk up from the Puget Sound, this little cottage is the perfect weekend getaway or writer’s retreat.
The "Little House," as we have always called it, is the perfect quaint romantic getaway or rustic writer's retreat. It's cozy and completely self-contained with one bedroom, a living room that includes the original brick fireplace, and a spacious newly refurbished kitchen with washer and drier. The bathroom features a small (and short!) clawfoot tub. It feels the most 'urban' of our properties because it is closest to the gravel road, closer to the water, and is within sight of a few neighbors, including our great, great grandfather's craftsman style (c. 1897) home. It still feels private since it is tucked into the woods. Through the trees you can also see the water and, if you look carefully, the shores of Lincoln Park in West Seattle. This 1905 cabin used to belong to our Aunty Suzy and cousins Vicky and Brad, our family antique collectors, and we have lovingly decorated it with a number of their curio's. We are just 1.5 miles from the Southworth ferry dock; you can walk here in 30 minutes or drive it in 5. Altogether there are three separate homes on the property that can together accommodate up to 15 - 17 during summer - plus a small studio for events & yoga tucked into a bamboo grove, which can accommodate up to 20 people (book separately). We also have an organic garden, fresh eggs daily from our chickens, and a few informal trails to explore. We also live on the property so you may see people wandering around from time to time but all units are completely private, separate and tucked away in the woods. This is a peaceful spot and the ultimate in "slow-life" where you truly step back in time. A cozy place for a couple or perfect for anyone seeking solitude and a slower pace, surrounded by nature. While quite comfortable, we still hand-wash our dishes, bbq using charcoal and chop wood for the wood stoves and fireplaces. Only 40 minutes from Seattle by ferry (25 minutes, if you happen to catch the direct ferry), this is a wonderful place to unhook from your fast-paced life and curl up with a book and a cup of tea in front of a roaring fire. It is a short walk downhill to the new Harper Pier which includes a water-level dock with swimming ladder; you can jump off into the brisk Puget Sound! Squid fishermen and local anglers also hang out on the pier or fly fish from the rocky beach. Next to it is a funky coffee shop that is open when it suits the friendly owners. We do consider pets on a case by case basis. A $35 fee may apply with a short list of house rules for pet owners.
There are plenty of walking and biking trails and parks nearby. Quiet country roads wind through a natural, unassuming and semi-rural woodsy neighborhood with chicken coops and horse pastures. Drivers still wave at one another and when they pass pedestrians. The historic Harper Community Park has a delightful trail that drops down to the waterfront and a small picnic area and baseball diamond. Within walking distance: a small convenience store located at the Southworth Ferry dock (30 minutes walk) and a small and eclectic cafe 5 minutes down the hill at the new Harper Dock.
  • Lovely home in a beautiful quiet location. Perfect for a relaxing couples vacation!

    Susan2017-07-16T00:00:00Z
  • The little red cabin was just what we needed to unwind and celebrate my wife's 30th birthday. It was cozy, quiet, and had everything we needed. The best part was the full-size kitchen, stocked full of any and all cooking equipment one may need to prepare a full meal. There were also some nice treats on the counter and the fridge, which was a nice bonus. Everything was clean and comfortable, especially the bed. Fran was very quick to help with any needs we had (even at 10pm, when we locked ourselves out), like extra firewood. She also respected our privacy, and was not intrusive at all during our stay. She really seems to know how to make someone feel at home. The property itself is absolutely beautiful and gave a strong feeling of solitude, even though it wasn't far from town at all. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Quiet, dark, accessible, cozy. Near the water, a part of the woods, antique touches, a cabin, a hearth.

  • This place is great! Highly recommended for anyone that wants a quiet getaway. Communication from Fran was quick and everything was as described. Perfect little cabin in a beautiful area.

  • This lovely little cottage is a great place from which to explore the area. Quaint and cozy and nicely appointed. The welcome gift of local cheese and coffee was appreciated. Fran is lovely as well. We felt like it was our own place nestled in the trees but a quick drive to pick up anything we required. A nice place for those looking to get away from the city.

    Alana2016-06-17T00:00:00Z
  • Fran's little cabin is wonderful and cozy, and the Harper Hill grounds are beautiful. She was extremely responsive with communications before and during our stay, and was thoughtful and generous with a snack basket and fresh eggs from the chickens. We loved exploring Kitsap and highly recommend Fran and the Little Red House!

    Kimberly2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • It's a quiet, peaceful hideaway where you can go to relax and unwind and kick your feet up in your own private cabin. It's a great little place to decompress and unplug for a while.

Private, renovated, 3,500 sq/ft, light-filled home on a sprawling tree-filled 3/4 acre lot very near the Southworth Ferry Terminal. Our home is a welcoming venue with no neighbors in sight. Enjoy watching deer grazing under the trees and sitting on the deck in the warm summer sun during spring and summer and a cozy retreat during the fall and winter
The space is very good for both personal privacy as well as for conversation and just hanging out and enjoy a break from busy city life.
Scenic Southworth, Manchester, and Port Orchard coastal drives and major shopping outlets, including restaurants, and movie theaters, are all 5-15 minutes away by car.
  • VERY WELCOMING, LIGHT, AIRY, SPACIOUS AND A VERY SPECIAL SETTING!! It was lovely looking out onto the yard from almost every room in the house. It was so nice to be in a private spot where there were no neighbors in sight yet we were super close to the Ferry. We enjoyed watching deer grazing under the trees and sitting on the deck in the warm summer sun. The space was very good for getting both personal privacy as well as for conversation and just hanging out together. Mark was a super awesome and responsive host. We highly recommend staying at his wonderful and comfortable home.

  • Awesome location with quick access to transportation to Seattle and anywhere on the Olympic peninsula. The home was super clean and Mark and Coasette were VERY responsive during and after the booking process. The home has more than enough room to comfortably fit a large family and all the amenities to make it an enjoyable experience. The family room has fun activities for the kids if they are coming along! The deck looks amazing for the summer months - we'll be back to try it!

  • Looking for a quiet place to stay just a short ferry ride away from Seattle and Vashon? This is the place. Great home, comfortable and family friendly. Well cared for and away from the oppression of city life. We stayed here for a few days over the weekend late summer and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend this place for anyone with a family. The yard is large and well cared for with a short walk to the ferry terminal.

    Travis2017-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very spacious house, not only a lot of bedrooms but all the rooms are quite large. My 2 year old was very sad to leave "the yellow house" at the end of the weekend. Mark and Coasette were very quick to respond the the wifi being down and it was quickly resolved. We had to change our original weekend plans due to wild fires and this was a great find for us.

Escape the city to this gorgeous and relaxing weekend getaway. Stroll the gardens-all organically grown!, grill and have dinner in beautiful natural surroundings and then finish the evening with a walk down to the beach. This house has it all!
This place is uniquely positioned on a popular bike route through the peninsula from the great city Seattle just across the water. It is also nicely positioned within walking distance (1/2 mile) to the ferry that goes directly to West Seattle, which is a 40min. trip. There are also several beach access points nearby. The house itself is a great destination for a family or a couple or a bunch of friends to gather, relax and enjoy a fun and beautiful garden space as well as a joining play field with volleyball net and crochet.
This neighborhood is great because of the neighbors! Some of the nicest and friendliest people you will ever meet! The area is also very quiet as it is not apart of any direct route into the down town area of Port Orchard.
  • This was a lovely, warm home with hosts that certainly made us feel welcome. We had a great time and would recommend this house to others.

Liz and Mimi even had logs brought into the house so it was easy and so very relaxing to start the fire and take in the view. The linens were also fabulous. All and all, it was one of my best AirBnB experiences. Thank you so much for making it so wonderful.

Paradise and relaxation is just a short ferry ride away. This is one of the best properties we currently rent. Views like this don't get any better. Big West facing windows looking out over the blue water allow you to not only watch the ferries go by every half an hour, but also provide you with a sweeping view of the Olympic Mountains and the gorgeous sunsets that come with it. Once you land in Vashon there are several dining options around. Lots of highly rated restaurants, bars, coffee shops and gift shops are all within a 5-10 minute drive on the island. You won't find yourself without the proper vacation tools here. Explore the island by taking a hike or going horseback riding. There are many parks that fill the island, enjoy the views from almost all of them! If you'd rather do more at the waterfront, take a shot at saltwater fishing. This place has a lovely sunken in living room with a large fireplace, perfect for keeping warm while staring out onto the water. With an open layout, the updated kitchen is stunning. The stainless steel appliances and marbled countertops will make you want to cook! There's also an island with stools for friends to sit at while you cook them up a storm. Once you go upstairs the views get even better. The master bedroom has an excellent vantage of the water and mountains in the distance. The guest room on the other end of the house also holds similar views. The two bedrooms are divided by a lounge room with a WiFii enabled smart television for the days that lounging about sounds better. We have all the amenities you would expect from a place like this. The coziness. the comfort, and in the prime location of Vashon Island Size: 216 m2. Amenities: TV, Kitchen, oven, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, internet connection, Fireplace, Towels, Telephone, Dryer, Beach, No Smoking Rooms/Facilities, No Pets Allowed, Parking, Waterfront, Family/kids friendly, Cookware Kitchen Utensils, Bed Linen Towels, Washing Machine, Dishwasher; Bathroom: toilet, bath with shower; Bathroom: bath with shower, toilet; Bedroom: 2 x single bed; Bedroom: king size bed; Bathroom
  • We absolutely loved our trip. The veiws were to die for. Waking up to the ocean out the bedroom windows, sitting out on the deck listening to the ocean, watching the kids comb the beach for sea shells, driving into town for a bite to eat at some great restaurants and shopping, riding the fairy to and from, it was just a beautiful vacation. It was low tide when we went so we played on the beach as much as possible. Helpful notes for future guests...A car is much needed to get to and from town and ferry. Penny was so great to work with and quick to respond. The house is very clean and had everything we needed to cook. We would stay here again for sure!!! Our family of 7 loved every minute. Thank you for sharing this home with us. We loved Vashon!

  • This is a lovely home, well maintained with a royal view of the Sound, and the picturesque ferry crossing. Lots of windows frame the view. It is quiet and peaceful here. What a great break from the pressures and stress of the city. Plenty of beaches for walking and exploring to fill up the day. There's 1 king bed In the master bedroom and 2 twin beds in the other bedroom, plus several large couches. There are also 3 bathrooms - very nice. In front of the house the beach is pretty rocky and is shared by a Great Blue heron, killdeer, sandpipers and a pair of ospreys. No whale sightings this trip. We brought 2 beach recliner chairs and set them up on ledge just above the beach to lay out in the sun. Best part of our trip! We'll definitely be coming back

    carol2017-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • The location cant get any better! Only 5 mins from the ferry. It was breathtaking to wake up to the water and the sunsets are something else all together! Gorgeous views! The house is cosy, but as many reviewers have mentioned before, its not someone house but a vacation property managed by a company. It has most of the very basic amenities. Our only issue were the beds. 1 King bed and 2 single beds were caved in and uncomfortable. There was a spare air mattress which also was not comfortable. Other than that our stay was great and the location amazing!

    ekta2017-09-30T00:00:00Z

We didn't travel with any so had to find an open store the evening we arrived and the island grocery store was closed. Island gas station was open and was able to purchase what we needed. Overall we were very pleased and wished we had another day to be able to stay.

Our accommodation is not appropriate for young children under 10. Please review the provided check in instructions and our directions to the house before your stay! Our residence is located less than 2 miles from the North end ferry dock up a steep hill. The designated guest private area is the entire upper level of the home. Enter from the front door and head upstairs. The loft like space has primary queen bed, and queen futon. Vashon is a quiet farm community. Curl up with a good book! Enjoy!
We are deep in the process of restoring and modernizing this 1940's farm house. The entire upper floor has been completed for guests use. Functioning as as an open multi use entertaining and work space. This upper level has a studio like bedroom setup and is curtained for privacy. For additional guests we have different sleeping arrangements for setup upon request. A queen futon-sofabed. A single mattress (on floor). As well as the sectional sofa. The property is situated on 3 acres. We have a fruit orchard for picking several varieties of apples and watching deer graze. We have two small lovable dogs living in this home. To view photos of our home during them @crabnoworchard
Our home features amazing panoramic views. Peacefulness. Nearby beach walks and trails. Wildlife. Farm animals. There a only a handful of restaurants on Vashon and most stop serving after 8 PM. Many restaurant businesses are completely closed early in the week. There is one gas station open late that has a large variety of basic needs covered. The farmers market is open every Saturday starting in April. May Kitchen & Bar is famous for incredible Thai cuisine and a reservation is recommended.
  • Loved it! Super friendly and helpful hosts. The space is great. It's a really good size loft space which encompasses the entire top floor of the home. I would come back.

  • This place was perfect for our needs. We were on Vashon for a week-long workshop, and the location couldn't have been better. While my partner took the workshop, I was able to hop on the nearby ferry to Seattle for the afternoon. The apartment is very nice, the view from our room was incredible; the wifi is fast, no shortage of hot water... and the dogs are adorable! Amy and Matt were very friendly and extremely helpful. We hope to stay there again next time we're on Vashon.

  • Great secluded retreat with the sound of ducks, roosters, cows and birds, instead of sirens, car horns, or train horns! View was nice, even with the smoke from BC Fires obscuring the distant Olympic mountains. It was still a nice view with the water in front of you, a small island, Ferry and boats. Sunset was pretty red, so no complaints. Excellent accommodations. Whole upstairs feels like a penthouse. 2 fans available to keep air flowing on warm days. Small fridge upstairs. Also did a few web conferences, and the internet connection was relatively good. There was one time when it dropped for a few seconds, but I have that occasionally at my house as well. Hosts are outgoing and friendly. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

  • Amy and Matthew's Vashon Island abode worked as a wonderful retreat for our girls' time-off from Seattle's hectic life. The location is absolutely great with gorgeous views and just 10-minute ride away from downtown. The rooms were neat and clean, fridge stacked with drinks, and they also had a good selection of board games and books to enjoy. We were also free to use the kitchen as and when needed. Overall, a great place for a couple of days' stay. Highly recommend!

  • The woodland setting was beautiful, and our hosts were respectful. My favorite part was the view from the window seat. This is a great location if you bring your own kayaks. It is several miles from town, however, and there are no cooking facilities on site. Also, we found it a little awkward that our presence meant that our hosts could not use their deck (which was above ours). We appreciated their consideration for our privacy, but also felt that we needed to leave to give them their own private time outdoors.

  • If you are looking for a wonderful, peaceful, lovely, nurturing place to spend some time.... go to Osha & Madrone's "woodland suite" on Vashon Island. My friend Elizabeth & I just spent the weekend there (more or less -- and we sure wish it could have been more!). The place is just as cozy & relaxing as it looks in the photos... & the hosts are two caring, awesome women (who just happen to be terrific masseuses -- ! The fact that we could easily set up massages during our stay was a wonderful plus!). The place is very thoughtfully set up & run: coffee & tea & oatmeal makings provided, plus small fridge w/milk; plus we were greeted with lots of fruit & filtered water. Madrone came down & set up the second, futon bed -- it was quite comfortable. Very easy communicating with our hosts.... & staying in this place (with its whimsical pepper lights & "stove" lit up with electric candles, & picture window w/its own cushioned & pillowy seat) felt very much a part of the quirky & magical atmosphere of Vashon... so much friendliness & kindness. I would return to Osha & Madrone's place in a heartbeat! & hope I get a chance to come back one day.... So: look them up, & enjoy. They are special people & the space they offer is really special, too!

  • Osha and Madrone's home was welcoming and comfortable. I used it as a retreat after working in Seattle and took the water taxi to and from each day. It was wonderful to come home at the end of the day and enjoy the quietude and greenery. The bed is comfortable and the space is generous. Osha and Madrone made me feel very comfortable while there. I look forward to staying there again.

  • Our Vashon island getaway was perfect, and in large part due to the woodland suite and our delightful hosts, Osha & Madrone. We were greeted, provided with a wealth of information we needed about the island, and then left to our privacy. Much better than the photos and well located, the peaceful energy of the suite brought a sigh of relaxation from the moment we arrived. Lots of closet space and drawers allowed all four of us to unpack with room to spare. Comfortable beds (we slept past our usual wake-up time every day), fresh & filling simple breakfasts daily (we were lucky enough to be guests during berry season!), clean and well-stocked bath (lots of water pressure in the shower - a treat). Games and books on the shelves were enjoyed, and the artwork appreciated. The hosts were the icing on the cake - accommodating, kind, Fun!, and inviting - we hope to return as regular guests. A tip: Book a massage during your stay - five stars.

Find peace, comfort and inspiration in our 3 bedroom beach cottage on the shores of Puget Sound. You can launch your kayak or paddle board out front, go fishing, beachcombing or just relax on the deck while enjoying views of Blake and Bainbridge Islands, Mt. Baker, the Olympic and Cascade mountains and the spectacular Puget Sound. A great location for exploring the Kitsap and Olympic Peninsulas and the Seattle area, we are located only 5 minutes away from the Southworth ferry to Seattle.
Our home would be an ideal retreat for writers, artists, photographers, bird watchers or fly fishermen, or great for family gatherings, a getaway with friends, or for anyone longing to connect with nature while enjoying a view that is different every moment of every day.
Our street is a one lane dead end road by the shore that gets way more foot traffic than vehicle traffic. It's a 2 minute walk to Harper Fishing Pier, a 5 minute drive to the ferry to Seattle/Vashon, a 10 minute drive to Rt. 16, and a 20 minute drive to Gig Harbor or Bremerton. It's an easy fun commute to Seattle to catch a great sporting, music or theater event, or within an hour or two, you can be exploring the Olympic National Park, Bainbridge Island, the Pacific Ocean beaches, the Hoh Rainforest, or Port Townsend.
  • We loved our getaway. Rebecca and Bill were superb hosts from recommendations for dining out, untricacies of the ferry to Seattle, things to do etc. but it didn't stop there. We had fresh cookies, watermelon and beautiful flowers to welcome us. We loved the views and couldn't have asked for a more beautiful view and special place.

  • The location of this house is spectacular, with broad views over the water of Puget Sound. It's very quiet and secluded. The house has a large kitchen and living area, and a comfortable deck to sit and enjoy the view. A welcome touch were the treats left for us to have upon arrival, and for breakfast. Since the owners live next door, they were very helpful with suggestions about this to do and where to obtain groceries, etc. We wished we could stay longer!

    Beth2017-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • We were unable to get into our first home we rented through Airbnb and Rebecca came to our rescue!! She was so welcoming and helped us on such short notice. We loved her home and spent much of our time out on the deck enjoying the view of the water. The neighborhood was quiet and very peaceful. We enjoyed hunting for sand dollars and seashells every morning. The house was perfect for our group of blended ages from 3-93. We can't wait to go back again! Thank you so much to Rebecca and her family!

  • Rebecca and Bill's place was God sent! Our family had reservations elsewhere to celebrate the 4th of July weekend and my mother's 80th birthday and at the 11th hour found out that it was mistakenly doublebooked and we had no place to be for this special family time. Voila, Rebecca and Bill just listed there place and we were able to reserve it just a day before we were to all arrive which was such a blessing. They are hosts extrodinaire and went above and beyond to say the least to make our stay FABULOUS (they live next door). The location is gorgeous and the house was just perfect for our family. We had deer in the backyard, porpoises and harbor seals following us with our kayak and baby birds being fed by mom on the front porch. The pictures accurately depict the home and it was immaculate! I can't say enough about what a truly special time we had here...book it and you won't be disappointed!!! We would definitely return. Thank you Rebecca and Bill you made our time together simply the best!

  • This house was perfect. We entertained friends almost every night and everyone thought the place was great. From the view to the oriental accents on the wall to the great dinnerware this place was fun. Would definitely rent this place again.

  • Neat spot! Very beautiful and clean with an incredible view! Beautiful island as well!

    Christina2017-05-22T00:00:00Z
  • Outstanding view - a comfortable family setting - the deer every morning & evening - a truly relaxing time! Everything provided (excluding food). Comfy beds - even the trundle bed was comfy!

  • My family enjoyed staying at your place but we're a little disappointed in the available beds. I didn't personally visit the house so can't really offer much of an opinion.

    Kathryn2016-12-26T00:00:00Z
  • The house was a funky blast from the past . I loved it! The view was everything .

    Suzanne2016-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • The house was clean and we had easy access through a combination lock box with a key inside. We had a great time. The view was wonderful. We were greeted by deer in the back yard which we loved. The neighbors ran their dogs in the backyard, very fun to watch. Had a very pleasant conversation with that neighbor. The backyard could use some maintenance (mowing etc.) We were only there for four nights but would like to have stayed longer. It was very cold when we arrived so we turned the heat way up (no thermostat) and fell into bed. I woke up feeling like I was in an oven. Turned the heat way down but not nearly far enough. Minus pajamas and covers, I was still very hot. Finally found comfortable settings between low and off. Suggest the heat be left on for arrival at a very low setting. The guests can adjust as needed.

Cozy beach front cottage on the Puget Sound. Perfect for a quiet getaway, wake up to the sounds of the waves and enjoy views of the passing ferries, Vashon Island and Mount Rainier in the distance.
There are three bedrooms, two with queen beds and one with a full bed. Kitchen is equipped with everything you need to make meals to enjoy on the deck with water views. There is also a full size BBQ that can be used with outdoor patio seating. Near the waterfront there is also a fire pit to enjoy s’mores and more! Port Orchard is only about an hour drive from Seattle and can be accessed by car or nearby ferries.
  • It was a darling beach cottage. It would be a great place to stay in the summer!

    Tricia2017-11-19T00:00:00Z
  • Very clean, comfortable cottage right on the water with three nice bedrooms. Very family friendly with a good kitchen, barbecue on the deck, fire pit and living room area for relaxation. What sets this property apart is the view from the deck over the water. The tide comes in and out and shore birds abound. The location is secluded and extremely quiet. Probably not the place if you're looking for a party house. Check in and communication with hosts was simple and reliable. We hope to visit again.

  • Brandi's place is a classy, quiet, clean, gem of a place with a GORGEOUS view!!! Brandi was easy to work with and very responsive. • This was our first time using Airbnb and the experience with Brandi and Vinny has definitely made us want to leverage Airbnb more. They were so organized and responsive. We felt completely welcomed. If anyone is looking for a weekend away with a beach pretty much to themselves, this is the place. We will definitely be back!

  • A nice cabin on the beach. It was very clean and the firepit next to the water was perfect to sit around at night.

  • After getting cancelled at other airbnb's twice I almost lost hope on finding a perfect getaway spot for me and the family. I contacted Brandi & Vinny and they were more than welcoming and ensured the beach cottage was available! It was more than I imagined it to be! Waking up to sounds of the water, enjoying the views, spending time on the water in the kayaks and spotting out seals in the water. Brandi & Vinny left us s'mores supplies and my kids loved it! We really enjoyed our time here and was really sad to leave, but it was the perfect way to end our summer. Thank you Brandi & Vinny! This a certainly a spot we will be coming back too.

One of the three listings on our 10 acre property just a 5 minute walk up from the Puget Sound and 1.5 miles from the ferry to Seattle, the "A-Frame" is a rustic cabin that sleeps six.
The "A-Frame" is a rustic cabin nestled in the woods on a quiet gravel lane on 10 acres just a few minutes walk from the South Colby waterfront on Harper's Hill. It features a wood-burning stove, expansive deck, a master loft (adults only) and a classic Northwest sleeping porch with two double beds and french doors with screens that open out onto a deck. We are just 1.5 miles from the Southworth ferry dock; you can walk here in 40 minutes or drive it in 5. Altogether there are three separate homes on the property that can accommodate up to 15 - 17 during summer - plus a small studio for events & yoga tucked into a bamboo grove, which can accommodate up to 20 people (book separately). We also have an organic garden, fresh eggs from our chickens, and a few informal trails to explore. We also live on the property so you may see people wandering around from time to time but all units are completely separate and tucked away. This is a peaceful spot and the ultimate in "slow-life" where you truly step back in time. An excellent place for a cozy gathering with family or perfect for anyone seeking solitude and a slower pace surrounded by nature. While quite comfortable, we still hand-wash our dishes, bbq using charcoal and chop wood for the wood stoves and fireplaces. Only 40 minutes from Seattle by ferry, this is a wonderful place to unhook from your fast-paced life and curl up with a book and a cup of tea in front of a roaring fire. Plenty of puzzles and board games. We are wired for WiFi. It is a short walk downhill to the new Harper Pier which includes a water-level dock that you can jump off into the brisk Puget Sound! Local anglers also hang out on the pier and next to it is a funky coffee shop that is open when it suits the friendly owners. We do consider pets on a case by case basis. A $35 fee may apply with a short list of house rules for pet owners.
There are plenty of trails and parks nearby. Quiet roads in a natural, unassuming and semi-rural neighborhood with chickens and horses. Drivers still wave at one another and pedestrians.
  • We loved staying at Fran's cabin -- it was exactly the peaceful and wooded retreat we were looking for. The cabin was thoughtfully prepared for visitors, and we loved the fresh flowers from the garden and her invitation (which we made liberal use of!) to enjoy fresh veggies and fruit from the garden. This was a great rental for an informal and relaxed stay with old friends, their one year old, and our old dog. We explored the walks and coastline nearby, and took a day trip via ferry to Vashon Island. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a similar experience.

  • Having grown up in the Southworth area, I was seeking a sanctuary…a place to rest my weary muddled brain and attempt to get my MoJo back. This cabin is just beyond charming and a bit breathtaking in providing all the Zen that my family and I needed to enjoy, far away from the busy rat race of San Francisco. We had family and friends over for dinners and S’mores and everyone repeatedly commented on how wonderful the cabin is. My boys and nephews ran in the woods on probably every trail they could find and when they came back with stinging nettle welts, I just threw them in the shower…poof. All better. My boys got to be boys and unplugged from electronics, my husband became lighthearted and laughed more in those two days then I have seen in months. There is a bit of magic in this cabin and Fran is an amazing hostess. Unobtrusive, yet available if needed. I made a gorgeous salad one night with fresh lettuce from the organic garden and tossed it with strawberries I had bought, along with a bit of cracked salt, olive oil and balsamic. There was not one ounce of lettuce left over as everyone inhaled it. We got to visit with the baby bunny as we were in the garden as well. We walked down to the waterfront and witnessed a Bald Eagle feasting on a fish on the tidal flats and then out of the blue my sister drove by. Never a dull moment and entirely what my family needed. I will not hesitate to stay here again the next time we are up…only next time, it will be for many more days! Thank you Fran for such a lovely experience.

    Cara2015-07-02T00:00:00Z
  • When I arrived There was a note written for me, as well as a few guide books about local trails and hikes that Fran recommended. There were snacks and drinks just in case I hadn't brought anything with me. The listing was exactly what I was hoping for, a perfect location to practice photography, relax with the weather, sketch and read. The neighborhood was a sleepy and relaxed place with very little traffic or excess noise. I highly recommend this space for someone looking to take a break from busy life for a few days and decompress.

    Travis2015-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • She made everything so cozy, fresh flowers, eggs and homemade jam in the fridge. Loved the peace and quiet. It was close to where we were visiting and it is nestled in the woods just like the picture. Everyone should have this experience!

    Molly2016-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • It was perfect. The setting is beautiful, the cabin was very comfortable and inviting. I cannot think of a single thing that needs improvement!

    Joe2014-10-09T00:00:00Z
  • Fran was an incredible host and Harper's Hill is a magical place that harkens to another era of Port Orchard. The whole property is extremely well tended, and the love she has for the place shows in all the little projects being done here and there to enhance the houses and the land around them. I truly didn't know what I was getting into with this place. I knew the houses were charming, because of the pictures, but it really is the houses and the property together, plus a gracious host, that make this place as special as it is. I plan to bring my yoga retreat here again in future years, probably even next year! Thanks, Fran!

    Jacob2015-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Arriving at Harper’s Hill is like a delightful travel back in time. The slightly bumpy gravel road which leads off the road, a very short ten minute drive from the ferry dock, signals your exit from city worries and busy lifestyles, and arrival at a beautiful simpler time where your spirit can refresh! The property is gorgeous with many types of trees and shrubs. The A frame we stayed is sweet and simple. Reminders of a summer cottage in Sweden, with painted frames on the paned windows and warm wood colors of every type on the interior walls. Even though a very comfy bed is located in the more private loft area we were immediately drawn to the wonderful sleeping porch at night were the woodland sounds both lulled us to sleep and woke us in the morning and the cool coast breeze cooled us after some warm sunny days. For the first two days I set up my “office” on the deck (extra extension cord kindly provided by the host). The wifi was enough for excellent connection even outside. The cabin had some nice basic supplies including a nice choice of teas. So tea cup in hand I plowed through the work that needed to get done. The kitchen is simple but complete (no dishwasher or microwave) but we actually took turns washing the dishes because the Meyers Cleaning Day Geranium dish soaps aroma therapy was a treat! There is also a great bbq on the patio! Walking to the compost bin in the morning was nice because we could check out the veggie gardens changes and sit quietly on Adirondack chairs watching the fawns nibble from the berry bushes nearby. Evenings the stars are amazing! The night we made a camp fire in the provided fire pit and invited our hosts for wine and cheese was another highlight of our stay. Final thoughts, bring your comfy clothes, great food, good wine, and wonder in the simple joys, and Harper’s Hill will be everything you are hoping for and more.

  • Wow! What a dreamy cabin. Everything was wonderful. The atmosphere is very private & the grounds are truly stunning. Our kids enjoyed visiting the garden & the chickens. We enjoyed coffee on the patio. The wood burning stove kept the place very cozy. Oh and the sheets were so soft! Fran was fantastic throughout our stay. Highly recommend!

  • Our time in these sweet little cottages was wonderful! They are so conveniently located to the ferry, it made our travel much easier. The space is small, but perfect for what we were looking for. The kitchenette had all the things we needed for our few days on Vashon Island. Yama was in communication with me throughout to make sure we didn't have any questions and were enjoying our stay. I would highly recommend these cottages to future Vashon Island travelers.

  • The hosts were very quick and easy to communicate with regarding the cabins. Rules were clear and easy to follow. Ruby and Yama welcomed us with smiles and kindness. The two different cabins were very organized and clean. They have thought of absolutely everything a guest may possibly need.

  • If you want the experience of an island getaway this is the place. Small, quiet, beautiful, and 5 miles from Vashon town center, the cottage is great for peace and quiet with a view of Puget sound and ferry boats shuffling in and out all day. A car is a must to get something to eat unless you eat out of a cooler and microwave. great bed.

Just a few minutes from the Ferry Dock, our home sits on top of the northend hill, looking out at the amazing full view of the Puget Sound. Full of history, and get-togethers, our home provides a quiet getaway, unique island life, and perfect location to come and go from Seattle, The Peninsula or Tacoma. The best of both worlds, we find this place magical and we hope you do too.
Enjoy the entire two story, three bedroom, two bath home with wood floors throughout, amazing kitchen and views. The owner has a carpentry background and has made beautiful in-lays throughout the homes window-sills, stairs and huge bay windows. Outside, the house sits on almost an acre, with a beautiful fire-pit, orchard and views of the Puget Sound. Very quiet and peaceful and the deer are an everyday visitor in our quiet piece of island life.
We are nestled on top of what the locals refer to as 'ferry dock hill' with views of the sound and ferries coming and going. With just a short 2 minute drive or 8 minute walk from our local winery, Palouse. We are also surrounded by great beaches, hiking trails and a local water front Mexican restaurant 'La Playa' just at the bottom of our hill. We are a short 10 minute drive to up-town Vashon which is full of amazing restaurants, live music, bars, shopping and a farmers market each Saturday year round.
  • Great spot! Very roomy, and a fantastic kitchen for group cooking.

    Ben2017-10-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed as a group of 6 adults for the new year's weekend and had a great time. Plenty of space for lounging upstairs, large dining table for the whole group, and the kitchen was well equipped for group meals at home. It was easy to find from the ferry and a short drive into town. Leslee and John were very responsive and easy to work with. Some items to note, but not an issue for us is that two of the bedrooms are downstairs and there is only one shower. It was a perfect weekend trip from the city and we saw lots of deer as promised!

    Mei Li2018-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • A superb view on the north end of the island, two minutes by car from the ferry terminal.

    Joe2017-11-04T00:00:00Z
  • This house is so perfect for a family gathering. It has an open floor plan that enables many to gather for easy enjoyable food prep and for dining, without feeling at all crowded. The many windows give a view of the distant water and mountains, also to see the many deer that graze in the yard. We were there for a Christmas family gathering, and such nice decorations made it feel festive. The community of Vashon Island was friendly and really fun! We listened to wonderful live folk music at the Vashon Island Coffee Roasterie. We hiked the Island Central Forest (in the snow!) and another day to Point Robinson Lighthouse on Maury Island. We enjoyed cider-tasting at Dragonhead, and attended crafts fairs. The Thriftway, a large beautiful grocery store there, has just about anything you need. There's also a farmers market on Saturdays. Best of all, we loved being together in such a welcoming, well-appointed home-away-from-home!

This newly remodeled cabin and office is located on the west side of Vashon Island, the 2nd to last in a row of houses that sprung up around a Mosquito fleet ferry landing in the 1920's. Access is a walk-in down a path from your car, arriving at a rare 100' of west-facing waterfront that is the epitome of solitude.

  • Ditte is one of the best hosts we've ever met. She did everything she could and more to make our stay perfect. The Airstream is very cozy, clean and much bigger than in the pictures and it's got everything you may need for a comfortable stay. Nice breakfast every morning and great conversations in the evening. Thanks Ditte and Andre.

  • Ditte's place was a unique experience with wonderful accommodations and a sweet host who even brought over her own toaster for us in the morning. She also provided us with great instructions, wonderful breakfast items in a nice residential setting, and answered all our questions. We enjoyed our stay in her very cute airstream trailer on Vashon's north end. Highly recommend this original hideaway.

  • I've always wanted to experience an Airstream accommodation and Ditte's presentation was exactly what I thought it could be like and more! You can tell a lot of work has gone into creating this comfortable, updated space. I adored it. Highly recommended.

  • Ditte is an absolutely amazing host. She is extremely accommodating and does what she can to make your stay comfortable going far above and beyond what you would expect. The Airstream was a perfect home away from home for our week stay and provided all the amenities you could want along with peace, rest and relaxation while on the island. I cannot recommend Ditte's Airstream enough!

    Erica2017-09-16T00:00:00Z

Wake up to views of Seattle, Mt. Rainier and the Puget sound in scenic Manchester, WA. In addition to your room, private bathroom and kitchenette, we also have two kayaks. Only 10 minute drive from West Seattle-bound ferries.
Kayaks, wifi, TV and washer/dryer all available to guests to use. Two story, traditional cottage, renovated with love and overlooking the beach. There are lots of windows to provide natural light. The bedroom is about 50 feet from the beach, allowing the gentle crash of waves to lull you to sleep. Aside from views of Seattle, Mt. Rainier and the islands of the Puget Sound, there are lots of wildlife (bald eagles, sea lions, seals, and more) that call this area home.
Manchester is a oceanside community almost directly west from downtown Seattle across the Puget Sound, in the thickly wooded Kitsap Peninsula. The area has some great biking, particularly the beautiful ride through the forest and waterfront to nearby downtown Port Orchard. There is local restaurant and bar just down the road, a pleasant 15 minute walk or 1 minute drive. Otherwise, the city of Port Orchard has loads of restaurants, grocery stores and more within a 15 minute drive.
  • Sandy was so nice, and the accommodations exceeded expectations. Lovely home, peaceful, with an amazing view. Hope to have an opportunity to stay again in the future.

  • I always enjoy staying at Sandy's & Jim's lovely home! It's my "go to" home away from home when I'm working in Port Angeles. I plan to make reservations there the next time I'm there. AND YES, the view is as spectacular as it appears on the pictures

  • Beautiful place, amazing setting, gracious host. Kayaking on the Sound was fun. View of Seattle skyline was pretty. Mt. Rainier was obscured by clouds, but we caught a peak of it sunrise while we were leaving. Going home relaxed and refreshed!

    Robin2017-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first time using Airbnb, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! Sandy & Jim are amazing hosts. We originally went up for an event, but the event was cancelled the night of, so we spent the weekend taking in the beautiful view of Mt. Rainier and Seattle--all from our bedroom & living room windows. Sandy & Jim made us feel so welcome, and it was like we were at an actual bed and breakfast. I hope to go back, even for a night and to spend time there. Don't even get me started on that sunrise!

    Colin2015-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful setting for a beautiful apartment. Sandy and Jim were very accommodating, and the welcome gifts were a nice touch. Check in and check out were flexible let and easy. Would definitely stay here again.

One of the three listings on our 10 acre property just a 5 minute walk up from the Puget Sound and 1.5 miles from the ferry to Seattle, this two-story cottage was once a barn. Enjoy trails, organic garden, fresh eggs, and the woods.
"Barnacres" is a quaint 100 year old barn lovingly made into a two-story cottage and nestled in the woods on a quiet lane -- just a five minute walk uphill from the Puget Sound. It has 3 bedrooms with 2 baths (no tubs, just showers) and sleeps 7 (or 9, if you include the summer bunkhouse out back.) There are two other rentable homes on the property that sleep a total of 8, plus a small studio for events & yoga tucked into a bamboo grove, which can accommodate up to 20 people (book separately). Badminton and croquet (summers only) available upon request. We are also wired for WiFi and have a vintage wood-cased TV with basic cable.
Within walking distance: a small convenience store located at the Southworth Ferry dock (40 minutes walk) and a small and eclectic cafe 5 minutes down the hill at the new Harper Dock, but they have very irregular hours.
  • Where to even start... We stayed at Fran's cottage for our wedding week, in July 2015. It was absolutely perfect! (We actually had the privilege of meeting Fran, and seeing the cottage prior to booking as we happened to be in town visiting my mom when we booked - not saying this will always be an option - and we ended up moving our wedding day in order to book this cottage!!) The cottage does match the description and photos very well. Fran and Michael definitely know what they're doing. We've stayed in a couple other Airbnb accommodations before, and the care and attention Fran and Michael bring to this cottage is obvious. Even though it's not their main home, it feels just enough lived in to be comfortable (books on the shelves, by the bed), but not to the point you feel you're invading someone's space. Beds were made very nicely, the space/linens/towels were clean, and everything you could possibly need was available - even down to salt and pepper, honey, tea, pots/pans etc.. Basic kitchen food/condiment necessities if you're wanting to cook. The cottage was also stocked with a hair dryer, iron/ironing board, shampoo/conditioner/body soap. Every detail was there. It was very warm and welcoming upon our arrival - and nicely personalized! The whole place is just adorable - really takes you back to a different time! The stories of the property, the Harper family, and the old photos on the walls are incredible. Both Simon and I got ready at the cottage, in different rooms, and had photos done around the property as well. The place has such a charm to it, and added so much to our photos! And - for our last night there, we slept in the bunkhouse! What an experience. It's such a different view from inside - I definitely recommend it! Overall, I highly recommend this property! It's so quiet, so peaceful, and is truly a great little get away. Thank you to Fran and Michael for sharing your little gem! It will always hold a special place in our hearts! Simon + Abra

  • We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at "the barn". The grounds were so beautiful and inviting. We especially liked learning about the family history and the stories. It was very welcoming. The chickens were fun, even had a visit from a deer one quiet evening. Overall a first rate five star experience. Thank you for sharing your family treasure.

  • Absolutely loved this charming house and appreciated all the amenities it provided - from lovely jams to children's' books! We look forward to returning.

  • This place is really cool for a nice relaxed stay away for the whole family. We enjoyed the location and the hosts were great about checking in with us on if we need anything. We would definitely stay again.

    Melanie2017-04-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had SUCH a magical time at this cottage/guesthouse/converted barn. From exploring all the nooks and crannies of a house of this age, or roaming and exploring the beautiful, seemingly endless outside forest, hills and trails, carpeted in all shades of green and earthy Browns or JUST making fresh squeezed orange juice from a wall-mounted true vintage O.J. Juicer -- two adults and three kids (5, 8 and 8). (We all loved the OJ maker, I was lucky to find one on ETSY....) Even while experiencing a "first in three year's" power outage, we enjoyed the time with the kids, read from the plathora of books provided, reminesed with old stories, lit the house with candles..... It truly is a magical place. Fran and Michael made us feel so welcome. They gave is a tour of their beautiful, history-filled acreage, provided some delicious 'snacks' which proved life-saving as we did not really want to leave once we arrived. And the layout of their place is perfect. I am not sure a person could design a place that is so functional AND fun. If the kids had fun WITHOUT video games or a multitude of channels to pick from, then everyone can find enjoyment at this place. I felt like I was on vacation at a charming English countryside cottage. And It is difficult to find such a combination of charm, beauty, peace and freshness in one place. You can find those elements here -- at Fran and Michael's place. I think a family reunion or gathering would be awesome on this property. TONS of places for children to have wide open-space fun. Sincerely, Laura, Mike, Joe, Sunny and Ellie I want to go back in the spring or summer when their wonderful garden is in bloom.

    Laura2014-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is so much more than the pictures can show! From the moment you walk through the door you are overcome with the warmth and ease this gorgeous home provides. My husband and I spent 4 days and 5 nights here for our honeymoon and could not have hoped for anything more! Relaxing nights by the fireplace while enjoying the wonderful selection of books, some of which dated back to the mid-1800's, were exactly what we needed. Experiencing this enchanting place with its long family history was so heart warming. Not to mention the personal touches around the house, including the very sweet Welcome gift left for us by Fran and Michael, and the beautiful fresh cut flowers in every room from the gardens outside! My husband and I will certainly be coming to stay again!

  • This property was just what we were looking for to have a post-holiday weekend retreat with our grown daughters who are up in the Tacoma area. The historic cottage is comfortable and lovingly preserved with family heirlooms and our host, Fran, was very gracious and welcoming. The bedding is beautiful and comfortable and the wood burning stove and fireplace are cozy and nostalgic. While the wi-fi works great and is available, this property is really meant for those looking for a chance to "unplug" and enjoy simpler activities. We enjoyed playing games, reading and making home cooked meals in the rustic, but well-equipped kitchen. There is no microwave, but otherwise it has everything one needs. The property has wooded trails along a ravine and there are many grassy meadows that would make great places for outdoor activities in the warmer months of spring and summer. The proximity to the sound and nearby Port Orchard is also a bonus. We highly recommend this host and property for those seeking a get-away from the everyday hectic pace of life.

    Jennifer2015-01-28T00:00:00Z
  • The barn at Harper hill was a wonderful location and Fran was a wonderful host. Fran made us feel welcome through communication and left us a wonderful gift basket upon arrival. The barn in Harper hill and the property surrounding it is like something from a Thomas Kinkade painting. The location provided mugs my family of 5 a perfect base camp for exploring bit Seattle and the Olympic Peninsula. If you're looking for something in downtown of a large city or surrounded by others, this is not the place for you. But if you're looking for a true retreat, this is it.

  • Great clean lovely spot to explore wonderful vashon island.

    Green 2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • Though prompt and responsive to all of my inquiries about the Cozy Cottage, there were multiple instances where Nathan and Melissa were unreliable and untrustworthy with their verbal and written agreements about my stay at the Cozy Cottage. The hosts initially offered very considerate and thoughtful arrangements for me and my dog; however rescinded these offers at later dates, after I had taken them on their word. Looking forward, I would suggest not to offer up special arrangements if you are not absolutely certain that you will follow through with what you had offered.

  • The little house is in a wonderful location for catching public transportion since it is near the main north-south highway on Vashon Island. The beds and pillows are very confortable and the house is kept very clean and tidy. The kitchen is good but a table with comfortable chairs would be a useful addition if you plan to eat regularly at the house.

  • I stayed here with my mom and sister for my mom's 70th birthday and we had a wonderful time. The big kitchen, dining area, and living room were lovely to hang out in while having a glass of wine or playing games, and the large suite upstairs was the perfect spot for my mom to spread out in and feel like she was on a luxurious getaway. The grounds are sprawling and so peaceful, and we really enjoyed being able to walk across the street to the sweet little farm stand for fresh veggies and eggs. Downtown is perfectly close and Nathan and Melissa provided extremely detailed recommendations on the best places to eat and explore. Don't miss May for the best Thai in the Seattle area, Snapdragon/Home Sweet Home for breakfast/evening drinks and atmosphere, the Roasterie for coffee, and Fern Cove/Shinglemill Creek Trail for a perfect ~3-mile hike from the beach through the woods and back again.
