My husband and I recently stayed at la Casa Verde. We were able to find it through our Airbnb app the morning of, and Alex had everything ready for us to check in the same evening. It was a little difficult to find, we ended up driving by a few times while backtracking to start over from the beginning. We should have trusted the directions (they were spot on!) but it was dark and we ended up second guessing ourselves. Upon our arrival, we were welcomed and given a tour of the property. The grounds are absolutely gorgeous, complete with a large pool, hot tub and gazebo surrounded by beautiful gardens. It would be the perfect place for a friend's get-together or family trip, and we wish we had more time to enjoy everything! In the morning, we awoke and enjoyed our coffees with our feet in the pool before having to head off to the airport. It was a short stay, but worth it. Overall, Casa Verde is a great location and a hidden gem. Thanks for having us!

The family who owns and manages this property are truly amazing people. I made the reservation over the Christmas holiday for my parents who are traveling to Costa Rica for the first time and they absolutely fell in love with the environment and company. This family is genuine, kind, and (URL HIDDEN) parents originally booked as guest but left as family. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking to explore, socialize, and understand Costa Rican culture. Excellent hosts and truly wonderful people.

We had a great stay here - our hosts very gracious and accommodating. The location is beautiful and perfect proximity to the airport while still feeling like a retreat. Unfortunately we could't get the hot tub or sauna to heat up enough to use, but we enjoyed the delicious breakfast poolside. Would definitely stay again!

Very convenient to Route 27, so easy to get to both San Jose and the beach.

Can I give it 10 stars? Yulion was an excellent host. The house is brand new and pretty comfortable. I definitely recommend this house.

It is a very beautiful place, a little tricky to get to it if you have no car, but once in place relaxation is immediate. The house has good facilities, a well equipped for those who enjoy cooking, kitchen has all amenities and within the complex has a waterfall that relaxes the atmosphere with the sound of water. A very good choice to stay.

Yulion's place was lovely! The house was so very comfortable and had everything you would need including a fully stocked kitchen and extra throw blankets. The property was gorgeous - A huge waterfall just steps away! I wish we had a little extra time to explore more. We stayed here to be closer to the airport for our 7 a.m. flight and the 15 minute drive to the airport was a breeze. There aren't stores or food nearby so plan to stop before heading to Yulion's place. I noticed he has two units side by side so booking both could accommodate larger parties. I would definitely stay here again.

Yulion has beautiful apartments not too far from the airport. Everything was clean and spacious. Just remember to get the lock box code from him before your arrival.

Yulion was a great host. The apartment looks just as beautiful in person. There is a great kitchen that has everything you need to cook up a nice meal. The pool was beautiful and well maintained. The waterfall is close by and is a nice walk. I would highly recommend !!

Loved it. This was our first and last stop as we had a late arrival and early departure. Exactly as shown in pictures, and very clean. That pool was lovely after a day of travel! Air conditioning in the bedroom is a plus. The full kitchen has everything you need for cooking. The waterfall behind drowned out any sound of traffic, although sadly had litter around it. It really felt very peaceful here, despite being so close to the airport and city amenities. We would definitely return here. We didn't get the chance to meet Yulion, but his father was very friendly. Poli who manages the Finca was very helpful and brought us fresh oranges and coconut to sample. Poli thanks for your kind help on our last day. We're so glad we stopped here. Two adults two kids (9,11)

Beautifully landscaped gardens, lovely pool, very nice apartment. The kitchen has a great gas stove and very nice appliances. Yulion answered our calls promptly and sent clear check-in instructions. He was very gracious- there were some issues with the pool and he gave us a refund even though we didn't request this. I would recommend this place.

Excellent property! Very scenic, safe and quiet. Walking distance to an awesome waterfall, peaceful area and location. Highly recommend!

After a little rocky start at the apartment (broken internet router and a horrible smell) we had a great stay at Casa de Bell. We loved the fact that it very light and that we had a whole view of the valley. In fact, if you walk around the balcony, it provides almost a 360 degree view. At this time of the year (late December and January) it is a bit windy so if you don't like wind, I would pick the lower apartment. Both apartments are identical so it is a matter of taste whether you like more view, more wind (when it is blowing), more light, few stairs, next to the pool, etc. The bed is extremely comfortable and the woman who cleans makes the place sparkle (she comes in once a week but with the wind and for only about $10 we had her clean another day a week). There is also a TV which we watched infrequently (unless you like news there isn't much to watch) but the internet connection was excellent so we were able to download movies, etc. I was also working while I was there so good internet was critical for me. It is a great location but be prepared - walking into town can be a challenge unless you are physically fit. Or are prepared to get fit. You are obviously at the top of a ridge so it is a long way down (hence the great view) and a long way up. But taxi's are very inexpensive $3-$5 to and from town. Overall a great experience. A few short comings that may get corrected (there was no workable grill for instance) but we will definitely be back.

What a great discovery! The house is very comfortable and set on a fantastic location. Due to this, the views are stunning by day and by night. The house has got all what you need and it felt very safe. The town is very close by too. Just as close to San Jose as to travel to beaches and national parks. To top it all, both the owner and manager are really nice and accesible to questions and requests. Will definitely be back!

This is an ideal location for a couple (or one person) who want to relax and enjoy the great views, comfortable accommodations, and some peace and quiet. Keith was very prompt in making the initial arrangements, and then Pete and Stef (the property managers) looked after us very well throughout our entire 6 week stay. The house is very clean, very safe and very comfortable. We loved the views across the Central Valley both at night and during the day. All appliances worked great, the pool was clean and refreshing and we had good solid internet throughout. For any birders, we saw 61 species just on or from the property. The only consideration for anyone staying there is you need a car to get into town, or you can call a taxi (2,ooo colones each way) into town for groceries. The comfort, view and overall atmosphere was wonderful and we hated to leave after 6 weeks.

This is an awesome place to finish your CR trip or to spend a few days traveling the Central Valley. It's very new and built with class, there are great views on the valley, the kitchen is very equipped compared to other places in CR and the car is parked just outside and on the same level so loading/unloading it is very easy. It's not too spacey for a 4 member family like us but its still OK. Pete the property manager is very helpful with tips on local stores etc. I wouldn't recommend it as 1st place in CR if you're coming trans Atlantic since its little too far from the airport (30 mins plus) and check in process can also be time consuming since you have to set an appointment with Pete, however if you arrive from the US then its fine.

My wife and I really enjoyed staying at the Casa de Bell! Upon arrival, we were greeted by Keith and his wife Maria as well as his property manager Pete and Stef. They welcomed us to the apartment and took the time to show us around the property. The apartment is very spacious, clean and open. The view is absolutely breathtaking and is very enjoyable in the mornings on the balcony with a hot fresh cup of coffee. There was also a complimentary cleaning service that cleaned the apartment once a week. We spent a month at this apartment with no issues or complaints. Instead, we spent the time relaxing and enjoying the benefits of living in Atenas, Costa Rica.

We stayed for a month at Casa Bell, and it suited us perfectly. As others have said, the pictures and description are completely accurate. The property manage, Pete, looked after us, checking in regularly and keeping on top of things. We had a car and we're glad we did, because the Casa is on top of a steep ridge that we wouldn't want to walk too often. Georgeous view to San Jose by both day and night. Comfy Layzboy chairs in the living area. Weekly maid/laundry service included. Great value at the price.

Our time at Casa de Bell was pure joy. We stayed on the second floor apartment that overlooked the nightlights of San Jose, and the rancho and pool. The weather was excellent with warm breezes most days and cool breezes in the evenings. We stayed for the month of April, which had some very windy days/nights, some afternoon rain at times, and excellent daytime and sleeping temperatures. Sunrises and sunsets over the mountains were beautiful. The place itself has a kitchen with everything you need, a comfortable bed, excellent internet service (we had to continue our writing work while in Costa Rica), plus the pool for a daily break from our work. The only complaint about the furnishings is the couch is not as comfy as we’d like, but we put a couple of pillows on it and all was well. The water in the pool was maintained at an excellent balance so that the only thing required of us was to skim the leaves and flowers that would blow in every day from the breezes that kept us so comfortable. We enjoyed swims in the morning, afternoon, and evenings; it was delightful. We also enjoyed working on our computers (when necessary) and then relaxing and reading by the pool on the lounges in the shade of the rancho. We delighted in our wildlife “neighbors” that included iguanas, geckos, nesting birds in the rancho and palm trees (we saw some of the babies hatch and grow), and a variety of hawks and other birds that dance across the sky. The privacy, quiet, proximity to town for when we wanted or needed anything made for a perfect place to relax and unwind while maintaining our US work schedule as we began to explore Costa Rica. One of the best bonuses for Casa de Bell is Pete, the manager of the property. Any issue we came across was quickly and effectively handled. He is a wealth of information about the country, the community of Atenas, and the process of relocating here (something we came here to discern). He’s very friendly, very helpful, and a nice guy to be around. All the workers Pete uses (gardeners, handymen, and maid) and networking contacts he recommends are as nice as Pete and excellent sources for Spanish practice (though most speak English too). Paola and her lovely family are great hosts! We lived in our own small house inside of her beautiful garden. Paola is an excellent cook! You have to try her breakfast and dinner with fresh fruits from the garden.. Everything was perfect. Easy communication, great food, wonderful garden with pool, clean and lovely house. We would book it again everytime.

Paola's place was a wonderful way to spend a week in Alajuela and Costa Rica. It's a beautiful property with a diversity of plants and birds, and the small house is very cozy with everything someone would need. Paola was very responsive (her English is good btw) and very accommodating, I definitely appreciated the breakfast in the morning. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to spend some time in the area, thanks for the stay!

This gem is just stones throw from the airport yet so peaceful and exceptionally great value. We've paid twice as much for much worse places. The apartment was spotless and had everything we could want. Paola's communication was excellent and she was very accommodating - even preparing us a special vegan breakfast for a mere $5 US pp. Wish we had stayed here for our first night in Costa Rica rather than San Jose!

This is a small, rustic and beautiful place to stay, while Paola is a wonderful host and her kids are great. I have nothing but good things to say about my stay here.

It's like a very nice little cottage style, very cozy, not very wide, but it is very comforting to be in it. Very clean and very appropriate details to feel comfortable. The neighborhood is very nice indeed as the property itself. Hot water services and wifi. To reach this place was really easy with the help of GPS. Paola, our hostess, very kindly hosted a dinner of which were very happy and satisfied with what I make. It is worth mentioning that stayed here for the proximity to the airport and if it is a very good choice.

Evelins place is very clean and comfortable. It is a spacious bedroom with an attached bathroom and outdoor kitchen that is next to her home so it is very private and has everything you need. It is extremely good value for money and looks better in real life than in the photos. I would highly recommend staying here. Thanks again Evelin :)

The stay at Evelyns place was wonderful. It surprised me to find a much nicer place than I expected. It looked much better in reality than on photos. Evelyn is extremely nice and invited me for breakfast every morning, offered to drive me around and bought food in the supermarket for me. It was a very pleasant experience.

We loved the family apartment which was large, well equipped and very clean. The grounds are beautiful and the sunrises from the sun as we could see from our private terrace were memorable. In a week in Eden, we have easy access to many attractions of Costa Rica: Poas volcano, zoo Ave, Tarcoles crocodile, the farmer market Atenas, etc. Jan and Avtar are excellent hosts, both considerate and respectful of our privacy. The Garden of Eden is a lovely B&B in a peaceful, beautiful setting run by two very kind and helpful owners. We stayed in their spacious 2 bedroom apartment with a well-stocked kitchen (although we didn't use it much because we only stayed one night). My kids loved the pool. As others have noted, Jan's breakfast was phenomenal - freshly squeezed mango and orange juice, fresh fruit artfully presented, homemade quiche, homemade soft pretzel with cheese and ham on top, and homemade coconut sticky buns. We were so full, Jan was nice enough to wrap up all our leftovers to take with us on the plane home. Avtar was a wealth of information and took us on a wonderful tour of their gardens, pointing out species of plants and fruits and telling interesting stories along the way. I'd highly recommend the Garden of Eden. The only thing I'd recommend to the hosts is to make sure guests know in advance about their two large German Shephards (maybe they are already mentioned in the description, but I don't recall reading about them). They are nice dogs, but very energetic and large. My kids loved them but some guests may not.

It was a wonderful stay. Our hosts were very nice and caring. The house where we sleep were very comfortable.

We arrived as guests and left as friends. The apartment was a great space for us and we were quite comfortable. The walk to town was a bit longer than we had anticipated, but was certainly doable. Jan and Avtar helped us navigate the buses and taxis and were accommodating to our requests.

We stayed for one week at Eden Gardens and found the accommodations satisfactory. We stayed in the 2 bed apartment which is just down some steps from the pool. Note that the roof of the apartment is actually the floor for a covered deck which serves as a common area off the pool and as Avtar's 'office' during the day. The downside of this arrangement is that it limits your privacy and you can hear every sound from the deck when it is in use. We enjoyed the company of the friendly German Shepherds, Max and Lilly. Each evening, we'd invite Max in and he would lounge on the deck with us until bedtime. We were out and about every day, so did not use the pool. I did not notice any chairs and umbrellas as pictured on the Air B&B site. I would also concur with one previous guest review that the apartment seemed a bit worn and in need of minor repairs. The 2nd ceiling fan in the web site pictures has been removed... it would actually have been nice to have had it for additional air flow. That said, both Avtar and Jan were quick to offer help if we needed it.

The pictures don't do the place justice. The apartment was large and comfortable, with a big veranda that's ideal for morning coffee. The grounds are lushly planted, full of flowers and fruit and hummingbirds. Jan and Avtar -- the hosts -- are progressively minded and very welcoming. The center of Atenas is maybe five minutes by car, and access to highways going in all directions is pretty easy. It's a lovely place with lovely people, and we had a great 12 days there.

Lovely country house, many animals including beautiful horses. All the staff super friendly and attentive.

This is a very beautiful and quiet place to stay, offered by really nice hosts... When Sylvia asked me how they can improve, I could not come up with anything, so that probably tells it all.

Our experience with our host Sylvia, her daughter, and her family of fur babies was excellent. We greatly enjoyed the peace and quiet of her studio. The pool was great and the view from the deck was amassing especially at night. A most enjoyable stay.

Sylvia made me feel very welcome. The description and the photos were very accurate. Sylvia was very helpful with letting me know places to go see and transportation ideas.

Ileana was the up most friendly and helpful hostess. Her mother and her were so nice. The place was as described on the airbnb page and more. She went out of her way to help on exploring Costa Rica. I loved this little apartment and completely enjoyed my stay. Juan Carlos was attentive, accessible, and a pleasure to deal with. His mother lives in the main house in front of the apartment, and she was wonderful, as were his brothers. Everyone did everything necessary to make my stay successful. If I needed something, every request was responded to the best way possible. The shower head failed to heat, and that very evening a worker arrived to replace with a brand new one that works perfectly. I loved the wildlife that was all over a giant tree in front of the balcony. The birds and butterflies were great to watch. Parking was fine for my little car, but a large vehicle would not fit. I think the place is a great value for the price, and the tv worked fine, too. Best of all, maybe, was to stay in a place where the hosts really cared.

I stayed here with my wife and two young girls in April 2017. The location was good, a 10 minute walk into Atenas, along pavement most of the way. The apartment is set within a three storey block of apartments, all very friendly and quiet, occupied by both expats and Ticos, never busy. The apartments are set within bigger grounds that the children liked exploring. The pool and pool area are excellent, girls loved the slide and my wife and I were able to swim lengths (pool has a 25m lane!) There are two friendly employees on site, Rudy and Andrea, who were always on hand for questions or problems. We organised car hire through them, and also found out about amenities in Atenas. They will also come and do housekeeping on request. Apartment was very clean, spacious for a small family, nice view from balcony. We also used TV, Internet, aircon, Washing machine, hob, microwave, coffee machine - no problems. Simply excellent value.

The apartments are ok. a bit out dated but for Costa Rica still really nice. the place if for sale and the owner is not there, has really nice care takers, you must speak Spanish other wise nothing can be arranged as they only speak Spanish. The resort is in a minimum maintenance state, the pool is nice, the waterslide was turned on once during our 12 days there. not many guests around in March which is nice. We had to leave early as we had people downstairs who smoked on the balcony, I am asthmatic we could not stay longer. Also if everybody runs the A/C its is really loud. The view is really nice. the main road is going past the property and the cars and trucks starting at 5.30 am until 11 pm endless traffic and very noisy at times. There is no cleaning service available, and you need to maybe buy some stuff for the kitchen if you start cooking. we bought some good knives and a scissor. The washing machine is perfect. Bring your own pool towels and some shower towels, hand towels and face cloth, cleaning cloth.

We spent a very good week quiet and calm. Everything went well. The description is consistent with reality. It's clean with air conditioning. Just be aware that hot water only works the afternoon with the sun's heat. I definately recommend this airbnb which is part of the best we've had in Costa Rica!
