A dream in Vilcabamba! Woww the most pleasant place with everything we wished. Spacious rooms, nice patio, well furnished kitchen, tranquility even during carnaval. We would have been there for much longer if we could. Real home away from home. Thank you for your hospitality, we will come back.

Pros: located close to the square Nice place. Cons: no where to hang out if other guests are occupying table, hammock in picture does not exist. The grass was tall so couldn't sit in lounge chair. Dogs barking. Bring ear plugs.

Anja is just a treasure. Sincere and respectful, warm and welcoming, and she is providing excellent yoga in the mornings for free! I learn so much. And her big stone house has such a lovely character. My room is great, and the stone walls keeps it warm all the time. Bathroom is clean and big and beautiful - yes, all here has such a nice style - and the kitchen area is as cute as all the rest and has all you need. Here is also a nice little garden. So I stay at least another week :-)

Although Anja was away, I was welcomed by Veronica and the other guests. I enjoyed my stay and would return. It is both in the center of Vilcabamba and quiet and peaceful.

A great place to stay! Quiet, beautiful house, remodeled with taste. Every convenience and a beautiful yard. We enjoyed the doggies. Very private for a shared bath, including tub.

We had a really nice week at La Casa de Blair. The view from the veranda was fantastic and the only sound was the wind or bird-song (except on Friday night when the locals party). The king-size bed was very comfortable and we slept very well every night. The shutters on the windows meant it was possible to have a properly dark room and not be woken with the sunrise, unlike just about every other place we have stayed in Ecuador. The kitchen was well equipped and Blair let us use his condiments, herbs and spices. He cooked for us one night and ate with us a couple of times. It took a couple of minutes for the hot water to come through but after it did the shower was great. Laundry was $5 per load, washed, dried and ironed. It took about 20 minutes to walk to the town centre (I walk fast) or 5 minutes in a taxi ($2 each way).

This was an excellent place to stay. Blair was a great host. His house was comfortable with a great view of the valley. Birds, butterflies and flowers were abundant. Town was close by. The air was pure and the weather perfect.

Roberto is a wonderful host and his home and the views are breathtaking.

It is a good hike into town, but the taxi fares are $2.50 each way. An excellent spot to lay back and relax. Roberto is a great host and speaks English fluently which was helpful to us.

Staying at Dorothy's place is amazing, a huge garden and plenty of sleeping spots to choose from - tents, hanging tents beds in the main house and secluded cabin. Theres Fireplaces, lots of fressh herbs in her garden, beautiful scenery and walks a very cute kitten and a handsome and friendly dog. A cab in to town costs around 1 dollar and the town is a must see with great people, arts and crafts and of course lots of tasty food. Its a must stay for adventurers or for just kicking back and relaxing with nature on the doorstep. Have a fun stay! Lion.

Dorothy is everything you want in a host. Her property is clean and beautiful and feels just secluded enough if you want to be alone and yet the cab drive into town is a breeze... only a few moments away. She has the most AMAZING views and an orchard brimming with bananas and fresh fruit. She has really created something special here. I would HIGHLY recommend staying with her, in any of the spaces she has available. It was a perfect stay!

I loved the place and Dorothy was an amazing host. Only issue for me was that if other guests were speaking or playing music or anything, I couldn't get away from the noise. Off course that depends on who stay there and how you feel about socialising at the time of your stay.

I could not have been happier staying with Dorothy. The accomodation was great, breakfasts hardy and Dorothy herself was a warm and helpful host. Her property is a five minute drive to town and set on a lovely piece of land with incredible views. I would return over and over!

We enjoyed having our private little home, being on a "hyttetur" (Norwegian expression for going to a cabin and chill). 2 big bedrooms, functional bathroom and kitchen, we cooked great meals from the fresh local produce of fruit and greens and enjoyed Chilean wine in the terrace in the soothing sounds of a busy river. The area is remote from signal on your phone but the wifi is most of the time very good. Sarah and Charlie were always helpful with calling taxis were needed. The surroundings are lush green and biodiversity on steroids:) a short walk straight up, you get spectacular views and walk through so many types of plants and insects, it is really spectacular. The cabin worked really well for 2 friends travelling. We stayed when the carnival was on in February and needed a quiet get away from the craziness in town. We only stayed a week, including one night in The Eagles Nest, a smaller cabin, higher up, very cute and great for 1 person. Sarah and Charlie are very relaxed and friendly, and Vilcabamba has great food. It was a good place to relax.

We spent more than a month at Sarah's place and we really enjoyed our time here. The location is gorgeous, in the middle of the mountains with plenty of hiking trails, and right next to a stream. A dirt road passes by the house towards Vilcabamba. It takes 45 minutes walking to reach the town, or a 3 dollar cab drive (50 cents if you hitch a ride in the back of the pick-up). The house itself is spacious enough for the two of us, and could easily accommodate two more people. It has a large garden with an orange tree and a balcony upstairs facing it. The kitchen has the basic equipment to cook a meal. Shower has piping hot water and high pressure, and internet works really well ((SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) calls kind-of-well). Laundry can be done at Sarah's place, which is only a few minutes walking. Sarah and Charlie are lovely people and know a lot about the surroundings. Furthermore, Sarah is very quick at responding and accommodating. They also own some cabins (which you can find on airbnb) but this house is separated from the cabins. Nice bonuses: 1) the fruit-and-veggie truck passes by on Saturdays, and it's cheaper than the Sunday market downtown. 2) Occasionally, a guy passes by with his car selling humitas and tamales (very tasty!). 3) You can watch an amazing light show from fireflies just by stepping out of the house at night. 4) Humming birds fly through the garden at all hours of the day. Altogether we highly recommend this place and would have loved to stay longer.

The cottage is in a fabulous setting, out of town, but easy to get taxis to it or Sarah will call them for you. The 45 minute walk into town is very picturesque. Both Sarah and Charlie were very helpful. Look out for Charlies' amazing pottery.

We only stayed for two nights but had a very enjoyable stay. Dorothy was very welcoming and offered us food for breakfast. Unfortunately we did not get time to use the Jacuzzi. The room was very clean, comfortable and the neighbourhood was peaceful. Would thoroughly recommend.

Dorothy and her family were very friendly and their hospitality is top notch. I wasn't there for very long; however, they were very kind and helpful and I enjoyed meeting them. I would stay with them again next time I am in Bozeman.

I was a bit of a late arrival but Dorothy was up and helped me zero in on her place. Dorothy was a very kind and considerate host and her son was more than happy to help out as well. The room was clean and full of books and interesting information. Good coffee too!

Dorothy made me feel welcome in her home right away. She immediately invited me to Kevin's birthday party and introduced me to her son Keith. My room was quiet and comfortable and private. I always felt relaxed as I came and went during my three day stay. I really liked the close proximity of Dorothy's home to downtown Missoula. I loved walking there in the morning for breakfast.

Dorothy has an amazing property just a short cab ride away from the center of Vilcabamba. Dorothy herself is a really nice host: she left us fruits to eat, was always available for helping us out by calling cabs and so on. She also has a really nice dog Tiko, who guards the house. The Dove House has a lot of potential and is pretty well equipped) but it could use some tidying (little less stuff in kitchen and fridge) and cleaning (floors and kitchen appliances).

Dorothy is extremely nice. Very clean and SUPER comfortable bed in a private room. I highly recommend her. Slept so well!

The room was filled with interesting books! Dorothy was super attentive and made me coffee and offered bagels for breakfast. Arriving late was no problem, she has a system that made it effortless. There were little paper notes with internet password, toiletries, etc. Overall a very pleasant experience. Dorothy and her husband made for great conversation. I had a wonderful experience and would recommend this home and great hosts to anyone!

This is a fabulous spot just a 15 minute walk from the central plaza in Vilcabamba. The views are gorgeous, the grounds are beautiful. The bed is top quality and the sheets are soft, something that is not common in Vilca or Ecuador. The room is nicely appointed with hot water even at the faucet, again uncommon. The hosts are warm, nice people that do all that is needed to enjoy a comfortable stay. Highly recommended!

We felt so welcome at Jakes place. The description was perfekt to get to the place. Our room was quiet, cleaned and we have everything we need in the kitchen. From the bed we have an amazing view of the Mandango. From here to the center you can take a taxi or you go for a walk about 15 minutes. Jake and his wife are so kind, friendly and respectful hosts. We will always come back to this beautiful place. Thanks a lot!
