Set amid rolling countryside, with expansive views of the South Downs, Belle Tout lighthouse and the sea beyond, Crowlink Corner is a beguiling country cottage with a tantalising and theatrical history. The accommodation comes with serious Royal and artistic connections, being previously owned by the Gage family (nearby Firle Place is the family home), artist and designer Frank Newbould and also renown dancers from the Royal Ballet – Margot Fonteyn and Rudolph Nureyev were frequent visitors – so you'll be in good company at this stylish rural hideaway. They have given the cottage that extra character with hand painted wallpeper, chandeliers, not a detail is out of place. The beautiful garden with fairy like trails all over the garden, split into sections such as the serene pond, the viewing platform to catch those beautiful views. Eastbourne is only four miles away, just the other side of Beachy Head, with its theatres, shopping arcade and miles of promenade, plus easy direct links to London and Gatwick Airport. Naturally all linen and towels are provided. I do not supply milk, tea or coffee as it has come to my attention that diets requirements etc vary greatly.

All within a 5 min walk down the hill East Dean has to offer a Deli, local Pub called the Tiger, a Thai restaurant called Thai Terre, a butchers, local cafe, post office, doctors, a barber and vet. This is all within a small walk away, a 2 minute car journey or you could hop onto the Brighton and Hove Bus Service which takes 2 minutes also. Or even take the bus another 10 minutes into Eastbourne, or 40 mins the other way if you want to visit Brighton

The cottage is amazing. The location is brilliant and house and garden are all made with lots of love. A perfect place for a weekend away from the city.

We totaly enjoyed our stay at the cottage. You could spend hours in this garden just looking around and feel like in an fairytale - beautiful! In 20 minutes you can wall to Birling Gap, Belle Tout Lighthouse is in sight all the time when you look out of the windows. What a special place!

My husband and I arranged a 4 day stay with my sister, brother-in-law and our 15 month old niece. The criteria for the break was less than a 2 hour drive from London, spacious interior with cooking facilies and plenty of outside space to enjoy the countryside, BBQ, eat outside and for our niece to run around. Its fair to say that Crowlink Cottage ticked all the boxes and more! Access to the house is across a field with incredible views all around. The layout of the house was perfect for two couples. the kitchen / diner led down to one great sized double bedroom with ensuite shower and separate bathroom with bath. Then the lounge was in the centre of the house with doors leading to the most incredible garden (more details to follow) and then the second bedroom and bathroom at the other end so lovely and private for both couples. The kitchen was fully equipped with oven, hob, fridge freezer, washer, dryer, ironing board/iron and plenty of crockery/pots and pans and had a large dining table with views over the fields (perfect to watch the sun setting). The garden however took the beautiful house to a whole other level. Split across several areas it had a 6 seater garden table and chairs, a charcoal BBQ, 4 sun loungers, a viewing platform with two seats which was just perfect to enjoy a glass of wine on, admire the views and watch the sun set. Totally incredible! The village of East Dean was a 10 minute walk away through the fields and has a beautiful pub, Deli and Thai restaurant (which does a great takeaway delivery service which we took advantage of one night. Buses run to Eastbourne/ Brighton from the bottom of the hill so its also a good place to explore from. Mary-Jane was fantastic throughout the build-up and during our stay and was really quick to respond to our questions. We had all had the most wonderful time and returned to London feeling relaxed and refreshed. Will definitely be back x

A true one-off holiday home which you access across a field and then arrive at this spacious and cosy cottage, surrounded by a beautiful 2 acre garden with views out across the rolling South Downs and to the English Channel beyond. Breathtaking. The cottage is very well equipped, most particularly the kitchen, and it has a really welcome eccentricity in an increasingly bland rental market! We simply loved it and will be back again soon, I'm sure. Although we didn't meet Mary-Jane, she was responsive and warm in her messages and calls.

Our stay at Crowlink was perfect. We were given a very warm welcome and made to feel totally at home. The house and garden are secluded and tranquil with the sounds of birds filling the air. The nights are still and peaceful. The bedrooms in the house both overlook the gardens and to wake up to the views was truly beautiful. The living areas in the house are well appointed and cosy, and we loved the kitchen diner, where we could cook and chat at the same time.... We all felt so comfortable there. I think this accommodation suits people who would like a secluded 'house party' atmosphere where they can enjoy convivial gentle times together. Also, it would be perfect for a romantic hideaway or as a place to go when quiet times are needed.... It was truly a spiritual place to stay and we are all feeling the better for the magic it brought.

The cottage is set in the most wonderful location with views of the Belle Tout lighthouse, sea and the surrounding countryside. It is private and secluded but also has the benefit of being within walking distance of the village of East Dean, which has a lovely Thai restaurant and good pub. The cottage itself is also very light and airy with a beautiful and private garden, a very unique setting.

Situated on the Green of the historic East Sussex village of East Dean this cottage has a wealth of charm and great historical interest. Dating back to the 1600's the cottage was used by smugglers and underground tunnels were reputed to reach the Tiger Inn and the beach at Birling Gap. Alas the tunnels no longer exist but the Tiger Inn is only a few steps away and the seashore at Birling Gap a short walk. The pet friendly property is ideally located for walkers and country-lovers exploring The South Downs National Park, Seven Sisters Country Park, Beachy Head and the wonderful surrounding Sussex countryside. The property has 4 bedrooms and sleeps up to six guests. There are two reception rooms and a garden room. The pretty secluded garden to the rear of the property is terraced with steps between terraces. The cottage has Wifi throughout and all bedlinen and towels are provided.

Drawing Room This traditional room has beamed ceilings and is comfortably furnished. "A get away from it all room", it is ideal for reading, listening to music or sitting quietly. The room looks directly out onto The Green at the front. Living / Dining Room Across the hallway from the drawing room is the large living room with great views across the village Green. Sofa and chairs and a television are at one end of the room, and a dining table and six chairs are at the other end. Kitchen From the living room there are three steps leading up to a large bright kitchen. It has a table and chairs for informal dining and a good selection of crockery and cutlery, pots and pans, microwave, hob and oven, dishwasher & washing machine, fridge/freezer. and has plenty of storage cupboards including a large pantry. A door from the kitchen leads to a small patio and the garden can be accessed via steps from this area. From the hallway stairs rise to the first floor. Master Bedroom The master bedroom has a kingsize bed, a bedside table, hanging space and a chest of drawers. There is a vanity unit with wash handbasin. The bedroom has views both over the garden at the rear of the property and the village Green at the front. Twin Bedroom The second bedroom has twin beds, a bedside table and lamp and a walk in wardrobe. It is bright and well decorated. It has views to the front over the Green. Single Bedroom A good sized single bedroom with bed, bedside table, lamp, wardrobe and chest of drawers. The shower has an integral seat which is beneficial for less able guests. Garden Room Rising up a few stairs from the first floor landing is a delightful garden room with views over the garden. The room is furnished with comfortable cane furniture and there are double doors leading onto the garden which can be accessed via a few steps. Family Bathroom The bathroom has a bath with over shower, toilet and wash handbasin. Gardens To the rear of the property is a delightful private terraced garden which is gated so your dog cannot escape to the road. The main level of the garden is accessed from the garden room (down four steps) or from the kitchen (up eight steps). Other small areas of the gardens have steps between each terrace. There is a table and chairs for outdoor dining and other occasional seating around the garden. Parking There are a few spaces of unrestricted parking available on the road outside the property. Alternatively, there is a free car park next to the pub two minutes walk away. We ask you to avoid resident allocated spaces.

The tunnels sadly no longer exist, however the award winning inn serving great food, wines and local beers is just a short stroll across the green, and the beach at Birling Gap with its iconic white cliffs is only half a mile away. This pet friendly property is ideally located for exploring The Seven Sisters Country Park and Beachy Head, which are both situated in the South Downs National Park.Birling Gap is ideal for fossil hunting, rock pooling and grassland bug hunting, and you can collect a tracker pack from the visitor centre. See the Belle Tout Lighthouse, originally built by ’mad’ Jack Fuller, and moved inland in 1999 to escape the receding coastline. There is a great circular walk from the local inn to the Birling Gap which offers stunning views of the South Downs and one of Britain’s finest, unspoilt coastlines. Eastbourne is situated on the sunshine coast, where you can take a stroll along the promenade and along the pier. Visit Towner Art Gallery, or see a show at the local theatre. Brighton is also easily accessible, with an array of amenities including the Pavilion, Aquarium and an array of antique shops. The farmers’ market in East Dean takes place every Wednesday, where you can purchase a variety of local produce. . Shop 10 yards, pub 50 yards, restaurant 25 yards.

A fantastic destination for our Easter break with our 4 year old and 13 month daughters. We had so much fun. Sam went beyond the call of duty - not only immaculately preparing their lovely cottage but also leaving a travel cot and many other details that made our stay even better. We had such a lovely time at this lovely cottage! Both Sam and Jen were very friendly, helpful and responsive both before we arrived and while we were staying in the home. They even left some food essentials for us at the house which was a nice surprise. The village is so cute and very close to Birling Gap. Underhill House nestles under the South Downs at the edge of the beautiful village of East Dean; the beach at Birling Gap, in the middle of the famous coastline between Cuckmere Haven and Beachy Head, is only a mile away, and the main walking route from the village to thousands of acres of fantastic hiking and cycling country passes right by your back door! (Maps and detailed guides to recommended walks are provided.) A children's playground and public tennis court are a few minutes' walk away. The popular resort of Eastbourne is 4 miles away over the hill, the historic county town of Lewes 15 miles, and the cosmopolitan resort of Brighton about 18 miles, to the west. Within easy walking distance in the village are the renowned Tiger Inn (all meals available), a delicatessen, a Thai restaurant, a café, and basic local shops (including an excellent butcher), as well as the Wednesday village market – and just down the valley is the popular wedding venue of Birling Manor. The nearest supermarket (Waitrose) is on the bus route into Eastbourne, so a car is by no means essential. For opera buffs, Glyndebourne is only 25 minutes’ drive away.

We had the most fantastic weekend away with friends in this beautiful house. The local area is fabulous and views from the house are awesome. It was super relaxing from the moment we arrived - Ruth and Tom were so helpful and really accommodating - we loved the cake and sparklers which they left for us :) All the bedrooms are ensuite and newly decorated to a really high standard and there are great areas across the house to both socialise and hideaway. We thoroughly enjoyed the beach just down the road and the (heated!) pool and garden games. We were so sad to leave, we really loved this beautiful home :) Note: We used local caterers for a Saturday night dinner which I would thoroughly recommend.

The hosts welcomed us and introduced us to their lovely home. We enjoyed the meal that they had kindly prepared for our first evening. It's a beautiful house, set in amazing countryside. We walked out into a howling gale and blew the cobwebs away over the Seven Sisters, before lighting a fire in the study and relaxing into our books. The whole house was calm, clean and comfortable. A great kitchen to gather and cook in. We plan to return for a special family occasion next year. Very highly recommended.

What a lovely home! Exactly as the photos show, and much more spectacular - Photos cannot do this home justice! We had a great weekend, the views are amazing, I couldn't have asked for more. The house was spotless when we arrived and Ruth was so welcoming! Great communication throughout, Ruth genuinely goes above and beyond a hosts expectations. The whole experience was great. I would highly recommend this house - you will not be disappointed. The beach is a short 15 minute walk away through the beautiful countryside, we were even lucky with amazing weather. The comfortably furnished house is fully equipped and offers one double bedroom and two singles. One of the singles converts to a twin as needed. Additional beds can be provided in the form of a double sofa-bed (designed for two but cosy for sharing!) and two children's roll-up beds if required. The large kitchen / dining room is spacious and an enjoyable place to cook, eat and chat. The table extends to seat 8-10 for meals with family and friends, and afterwards you can let the dishwasher do all the work while you relax, watch TV or a DVD or play on the Wii. Free wifi internet access and an open fire (coal and logs provided in season) are also available. Other accommodation includes: downstairs cloakroom, office / den (or additional bedroom), wetroom and separate family bathroom with shower over bath. Off road parking is available and the garden offers room to play on a large lawn area and two patios for enjoying the lovely views of the South Downs in the perfect traditional English village of East Dean. We provide a range of garden furniture for you to relax or eat in the garden, if the weather allows. As well as the pub and restaurant, the village offers a delicatessen, tea-shop, post office / grocery, award-winning butcher and a farmers' market every Wednesday morning. Three buses an hour to Eastbourne and Brighton go from bus stops a few minutes walk away. Eastbourne has good rail links to London (90 minute journey). Please note that we are unable to accept one night bookings for more than 4 people. Our home is in a beautiful location, close to the sea and nestled in the South Downs National Park. Four miles away (an easy bus ride from the end of the road) is the seaside town of Eastbourne with its theatres, restaurants, shops and a delightful Victorian seafront. Just over one mile from the house you will find Birling Gap beach, where you can play in the rock pools, race the waves up the shingle and walk the miles of sand at low tide, admiring the views of the famous Seven Sisters chalk cliffs. For a slightly longer walk, explore the South Downs Way which will take you to the iconic Beachy Head and Belle Tout lighthouse and reward you with spectacular cliff-edge views of local towns and the English Channel. Or, stay closer to home with a two-minute walk to one of the prettiest village greens in Sussex and choose a tasty meal at the 15th century village pub, The Tiger Inn, or the classy Thai Terre restaurant. Alternatively, take a stroll through the nearby woodlands of Friston Forest, or drive (or catch the bus / train) along the coast to Brighton for trendy shopping.

We had a lovely stay at this fantastically located house in East Dean. We were staying with two small children which can be unrelaxing in someone else's home, but we felt very comfortable there and Jane and family were extremely welcoming. The house has plenty of space and a lovely garden and really was exactly what we wanted from our trip.

Jane and her family are very kind and trustworthy. It was our first experience with Airbnb so we were a bit uncertain but it was absolutely fantastic! The village of East Dean is beautifull and suberbly located for trips to the cliffs of Beachy Head, Seven Sisters, Brighton or Eastbourne. The house was very spacious and clean, definately large enough for our group of six. Making arrangements with Jane was smooth and easy - we will certainly recommend them!

Superb location opposite the church in East Dean. Very close to the village green with classic country pub. Those who love to walk will find the location ideal - Birling Gap, Belle Tout lighthouse and Beachy Head all on your doorstep. The house is beautiful and very comfortable. Any review wouldn't be complete without mentioning the cats. They were great and seemed to take us strangers in their stride. They were also very skillful at opening the cat-flap from inside after I'd locked it! Jane kept us informed from beginning to end. I would definitely stay again if the opportunity arose.

The house is amazing, the location in East Dean is great, right next to some great walking trails. A 3 minute drive down the road and you're by the coast with some incredible views. We were there for two nights and had a lovely stay. The house is cosy, big and the cats are great. Communication with Jane was very good and we had no problems at all. Can't recommend the location, house and host enough!

Newly decorated, we have added some amateur photographs and hope to show it in its proper glory with better ones soon! This spacious home is perfect for getting out in the countryside or if looking for a short break away from the hustle and bustle of every day life. For the active, there is an abundance of mountain bike trails in the forest, with bike hire facilities a mere 7 minute walk away; plenty of great walking trails on the South Downs way surrounding the forest with beautiful sea views, with the seaside just a ten minute cycle through the Seven Sisters country park. Cycling, canoeing and bird watching are very popular activities here, but should you wish to stay close to home the forest lays on the doorstep and it's popular path is a stones throw from the property. Several country pubs and tea-rooms are in surrounding villages including Alfriston, Litlingon and East Dean. Should you want to balance out the country-living for the weekend, both Eastbourne and Brighton, full of restaurants, pubs and bars, are easily reached via public transport, full details of which we have prepared for you in our guestbook on the property to include bus, trains and taxis. INSIDE Downstairs: Entrance hall with space for muddy boots and jackets; Spacious kitchen with sociable breakfast bar and seating (including oven, electric hobs, microwave etc); Glass doors lead into a large open plan living room /dining area with a large wood burner adjacent to the dining table; A triple aspect living room with large fire place, oak floors, large wall mounted flat screen TV, with both DVD player and disks. Sliding glass doors lead onto a paved area next to garden; Also for use is a utility room with washing machine, space to dry clothes plus a downstairs toilet and basin. Upstairs: There is a split level Master Bedroom with en-suite (shower, bath and wc) - please note the mezzanine is a low ceiling as photographed, and is accessed by a secured step ladder which children MUST use with supervision and adults with care - it is extremely secure and safe. There are then three further double bedrooms sharing a family bathroom (shower, bath, wc); Please note, use of the bed within the mezzanine is as pictured, an additional level within the master bedroom, accessed by white built in wooden steps which are secured. Whether being accessed by children or adults, we ask that you do so carefully. OUTSIDE A large fenced lawned garden with apple trees set directly within the surroundings of the forest; Safe off street parking for easily three cars, up to six but this will block entrance and thereby need moving at your own leisure; Lockable garage available on request.

Me and my family have just returned from a weekend at Sisiis home in the countryside. It is part of beautiful small village and is attached to a barn. A beautiful home in which the photos just dont do it justice. The rooms are much bigger than what they seem in the photos and the photos also don't show just how amazing the surroundings are. Sisii and her mother in law were so lovely to us and we couldn't have been made to feel more at home The kids loved the little "den" under the straits and kept them quiet the whole weekend :) A beautiful place to relax and unwind with perfect surroundings. We absolutely loved this home. A large group of our friends met here for a reunion weekend, and the house was beyond perfect. There was plenty of space for all of us - from the living room to the dining room to the bedrooms and outdoor space. The house was immaculate, and the small touches (e.g. fresh flowers in every room) made such a difference. The kitchen was very well-equipped as well. The small village itself was so picturesque. It's very easy to get to nearby villages as well, including Brighton. Overall, we left with so many great memories - planning our next visit to Westdean.

Even before booking Middle Barn Siisi was responsive, full of helpful advice and easily contactable. It was really reassuring to have someone provide plenty of tips and even the pub Siisi suggested was a total hit with all 10 of us. The barn is bigger than it looks in the pictures as is this garden. We enjoyed our stay so much we didn't even go out to Brighton on Saturday night as planned. The bedrooms are lovely and the sitting room was large enough to accommodate all of us. Quaint, flint cottage set in the South Downs National Park. Beautiful garden, planted with wildlife in mind. The surrounding countryside is stunning, Friston forest, the Long man of Wilmington, Beachy head, Cuckmere Haven and Birling gap are all within walking distance.

Ivy Cottage is immediately welcoming. It is cosy and comfortable and old so full of quirky character. It is my home. The kitchen is a good size with a farmhouse table and seating for four people. At present the Aga is not on, there is a small counter cooker and a hot plate. The living room has a wood burning stove and old brick floor. There is no television. The downstairs bathroom has a good size bath. The water pressure makes for a rather powerful shower. Upstairs there are two good sized double bedrooms, spacious and comfortable. Quality bed linen. Outside, the garden is planted with wildlife in mind. There are established flower borders, vegetable patch and pond. The dragonflies dance and the swallows teach their babies to drink. The bats come out at dusk and catch the insects hovering above the water...

Jevington is in an incredible location. It is surrounded by the most stunning countryside. The views from the top are breath-taking. The South Downs way runs in front of the cottage. Within easy walking distance there is; Friston forest, ancient barrows, The long man of Wilmington, Beachy Head, Burling gap, Cuckmere Haven. The quaint down land villages of Alfriston, Milton Street and Litlington are just a hour away by foot. There are some fantastic pubs and lovely tea rooms. Jevington is a typical old flint-tastic down land village. It has a pub, The eight bells and tea rooms.... There is drop-in yoga at the village hall on Monday evening, 6.30-8.

Cottage is in a quiet village with a good pub. The wet weather made things a little miserable but we were able to get the heating on and warm things up a little. The garden is beautiful and the offer of fresh veg was much appreciated. We wished we had taken some games to play in the evening. We were also surprised to see all the owner's possessions and food around. It was like we had moved into someone else's home to look after for a couple of nights. We also thought that the Aga needed to be sorted out as cooking arrangements were very difficult. All communication with the owner was excellent. Great wifi.

Our main issues were the Aga didnt work so we had to use a tiny camping style 2 ring burner for cooking, and although the garden was lovely there wasn't any comfortable seats to sit on, just benches. There was a problem with a tap on our last day, so we left early, apparently it was easily fixed, but we thought old house and Bank Holiday we were going to have no water as its a very old cottage.

Jo's house is a truly speacil place. It is amazingly located in the middle of the South Downs, minutes away from the Seven Sisters park and with many walking trails just outside the door step. The house itself has tons of character and is also very comfortable. And one word for the garden- wow. Beautiful! This is a country artists home set in the heart of the South Downs. The house is homely and colourful. The available room is of a good size with a double bed and views of the countryside. Jevington is a small village with an excellent local pub just a few minutes walk away.

Our house is unique in that much of it is painted. I was inspired by the Bloomsbury Group and Charleston Farmhouse when I moved here almost 30 years ago! It has a cottagy feel, cosy and homely.

Jevington is a very small, unspoilt village in the South Downs National Park. A working farm which was once the Jevington Stud Farm is at the centre of the village and although there is only one racing yard here now, horses are still very important here. You will almost certainly see or hear them trotting down the road at somepoint during your stay! The Eight Bells pub in the village serves good dinners and lunches and hosts local ales. Beautiful Birling Gap beach, beneath the white cliffs of the Seven Sisters is only a short drive away as is Eastbourne which has a range of pubs and restaurants, the famous pier and more beaches. Newhaven ferry port to Dieppe in northern France is approximately a 30 minute drive away. This is a perfect location for walking and mountain biking as there are many public paths including the Southdowns Way which runs through the village. Although it is generally very quiet here, there is a village hall next door and there may occasionally be noise outside as people come and go. There are a few streetlamps in Jevington but in parts the village is dark and it might be worth bringing a torch if you are arriving in winter or in the dark. There is no parking immediately outside the house and the road can be busy at certain times but it is possible to drop off bags etc before going to park.

We had a fantastic time staying with Jennifer. Such a special and beautiful space. She is a great, warm and welcoming host and it has been lovely to chat to her and see her beautiful artwork. The room was perfect and breakfast was delicious! The location is stunning, perfect for walks in the forest, along the coast or just relaxing in her beautiful garden. We hope to be back!

Our stay with Jennifer was absolutely wonderful, the house is enchanting and feels like staying in a gallery as much as a cosy home! Everything is just as described from the homely feel of the house to the beautiful little village and amazing walks. We were lucky enough to get to spend some time with Jennifer which was a real treat and she was so helpful in recommending nice places to go and made us feel very at home right from the start. The room was spacious and we had everything we needed all the time from fresh towels to a lovely breakfast with delicious home made bread and jams. We will definitely be returning to Jevington at some point in the future and couldn't think of a nicer place to stay!

We are easy to get to by rail, car or bus. We have great walking, are close to the beach and offer family-friendly activities. Our cottage is nestled within the beautiful South Downs National Park. Ideally situated for walkers and cyclists. A few meters along the country road is a green lane which gives access to the South Downs. We have Chickens and Ducks and also house cats. This is a small single room booking with en suit shower and WC.

Polegate train station which is a few minuets drive away gives easy access to London, Lewes, Brighton and Hastings. There are many public paths including the South Downs Way offering access to the beautiful South Downs Park and the seven sisters.

Stayed one night as I was attending a wedding in nearby Jevington. Mandy was very helpful, allowing me to check in earlier than usual so I could drop off my things before the wedding. Room was small but had everything I needed for one night and was great to have a private ensuite bathroom. Willingdon is an ideal location for walkers, cyclists, business travellers or to visit the seaside in the nearby town of Eastbourne. Beachy Head with its famous lighthouse, walk the stunning Seven Sisters chalk cliffs. Visit the surrounding beautiful villages and tourist attractions or hop on the coaster bus to Brighton.

This listing is for our double room with a very comfortable 4' 6" double bed. (Please note we cannot accept more than two guests in this room, this is our home and not a hotel). Situated on the first floor next to our twin bed guest room, (twin room on separate listing). It also has large fitted wardrobes with plenty of hanging space and room for your luggage. A chest of drawers, bedside cabinets, full length mirror, plus a hairdryer, wireless internet access and Tea and Coffee making facilities. There is a shared guest bathroom with a hand basin, WC and shower over the bath (to conserve water only the shower is available). Should the other guest room be unoccupied or booked by you, then you will have exclusive use of the bathroom. The bathroom on your floor is for guests only and is cleaned daily. There is also an additional ground floor cloakroom for guest use. We offer a generous continental-style breakfast, which is available between 8.30 - 9am included in the price. (this can be flexible by prior arrangement). Guests may arrive between 5pm and 8pm (this can also be flexible by prior arrangement) but must depart by 10am.

We are ideally situated 3.4 miles (5.4 km) from the beautiful Victorian seaside town of Eastbourne. Enjoy stunning coast and countryside walks in the new South Downs National Park which is only 0.5 mile (0.8 km) away and is easily accessible from Laburnums on foot. There are three pubs in Willingdon village. The nearest of these is the British Queen which is just around the corner at the Triangle. Other facilities at the Triangle include a small supermarket, a post office, a cafe and a chemist. The wider area is bursting with so many things to do, discover 1066 castles, museums and art galleries, soak up the atmosphere at the bustling Sovereign Harbour or relax and enoy the views at Beachy Head or Eastbourne’s award winning parks and gardens. For all of your entertainment needs there are two theatres in Eastbourne and there is a multiplex cinema at Sovereign Harbour around 4 miles (6.4km) away. Eastbourne also plays host to many events annually but most popular are the Aegon International Tennis tournament in June, Airbourne, a free air show every August, and the Eastbourne Beer festival in October. Other attractions include: Knockhatch Adventure Park (4.3 miles/6.43km) Ellel Glyndley Manor (6.5miles/10.46km) Drusillas Zoo Park in Alfriston (5 miles/ 8km) The Bloomsbury group/Charleston Farmhouse near Lewes. We had a perfect stay with these fantastic hosts at their lovely home. It was quiet, comfortable and very clean with every amenity you could need. An excellent breakfast selection was also provided. They are excellently located for walks along the coast or a trip into Eastbourne. They were very knowledgeable about walking routes and provided a perfect itinerary for exploring the seven sisters with the bus back. We would happily stay again and recommend to anyone looking to visit the south coast!

We had a lovely overnight stay here: a very warm and friendly welcome from Susan and her family, a comfortable and well-appointed room with a wonderful view out over the Sussex Downs, just a few minutes' walk away. There's a very good pub nearby for dinner in the evening (if the attractions of Eastbourne aren't too great); and breakfast in the morning was good and generous. Highly recommended: absolutely charming hosts who made us feel immediately at home; excellent value and a perfect place to stay in a quiet and delightful setting. A private double room that is situated in the center of the beautiful and historic village of Alfriston; that nestle's within the boundaries of the Southdown's National Park in East Sussex. It is close to all nearby tourist destinations, such as the famous Long Man of Wilmington and the Seven Sister's Country Park, the Birling Gap area and nearby Brighton. It is a very special and tranquil part of the UK to experience and visit.

The theme to my cottage is obviously a musical one, from my life long obsession with collecting vinyl and my career as a film editor and drummer. With over 500 l.p. records to access embracing all musical genres from Abba, to Frank Zappa and most Soul music, with pop classics in between from the 1980's there is something for everyone. There is wealth of more obscure artists in my collection also for guests to impress the most knowledgeable of music vinyl aficionados. I also have my drum kit on display for guests to enjoy playing or just to try out for fun !

My property is situated in the old historic Napoleonic Barracks of Waterloo Square and is ideally located being close to all local restaurants, pubs and local shops.

Mark was a great host - lots of fun to chat with and a great record collection! The town was adorable. Definitely take the chance to dine at one of the TWO pubs from the 1300's. Great proximity to the Seven Sisters and coastline. Also check out the nearby town of Litlington, which looks like nothing has changed in 900 years.

This was our first Airbnb experience and did not know what to expect. Mark was a welcoming and friendly host. He was very generous in allowing us to go through and listen to his extensive vinyl collection whilst he popped across the road to play a little drums at the pub - any music fans will have endless fun at Marks place. We visited his cottage following a trip to the Seven sisters and Beachy head. His cottage is in an idyllic location within a stones throw from two pubs and lovely scenic walks. Mark was a great guy who loves his music and film and made us feel very comfortable and the type of person you could just sit and listen to over a pint or three. A wonderful place for a short getaway and to relax - ideal for walkers or those who just enjoy the tea houses and pubs that this village within the South Downs National Park has to offer. Well behaved dogs welcome. The house has lots of character, two double bedrooms, modern bathroom and a well-equipped kitchen, plus a pretty cottage garden. Located close to the Village Square and local amenities. A minute from the South Downs Way & lots of beautiful walks. Free wifi. TV & DVD for rainy days

This bright and airy house is ideal for a relaxing break. The area has everything you need for a great walking or cycling holiday or just mooching about. You can just stroll around and enjoy all the lovely pubs and tea houses in the village. Alfriston has one of the best independent bookshops in the country - Much Ado Books. Badgers Tea House is just across the road - a wonderful place to relax (a 10% discount is offered to my guests). Well behaved dogs are welcome (not on the furniture or upstairs please) and they're welcomed in most places around the village. In the winter there is a log fire (initial logs supplied). My house has many times been described as light and "cosy", and is filled with art and interesting things - this is where I live in between bookings so is very much a HOME and not a holiday let.

This beautiful medieval village nestles in the heart of the South Downs National Park, benefits from rolling hills, Friston Forest and the stunning Cuckmere Haven very close by, as well as the world famous Seven Sisters. Plenty of good pubs and tea rooms, lots of places to visit, and for dipping your toes into the bright lights, we have the city of Brighton only half an hour away. Happily we have some very good shops in the village, from an independent bookshop voted "Best Independent Bookshop", to art galleries and curiosity shops, as well as a wonderful village store. There are lots of pubs in the village, each with a different vibe, plenty of locally brewed beers, log fires and pub food. You can combine walking with pub visits, further details are provided in the info book at the house. There are great tea rooms for the more cake orientated (Badgers is my favourite) and plenty of places to eat - country pubs to walk to, or great pubs in the village (the Smugglers is my favourite) and a restaurant at the end of the village for that special treat or occasion.

We (party of 4) stayed at Jilly ' s place for one evening during our 2 day walk on the South Downs Way. Jilly was very helpful and genuinely enthusiastic before and during our stay!The house is very cosy with an authentic feel and has all modern conveniences. We were very happy to find a lovely breakfast and even a picknick for the next day! Jilly was also ready to give recommendations/advice on the area. Overall we have greatly appreciated our stay here and would be happy to be back one day!

It was an absolute pleasure staying in Jilly's home. The house itself was easy to find (thanks to Jilly's brilliant directions), cosy yet spacious and was beautifully decorated. The book shelves were packed with very interesting books and I am disappointed I couldn't stay for longer and enjoy some of them! The village was stunning, friendly and felt safe. We walked home from a wedding and from the camp site and on neither night did we feel anything but safe. Jilly's communication before and during our stay was exemplary and she left very nice personal welcoming touches. I couldn't recommend Jilly and her beautiful home more highly and look forward to hopefully staying there again

We stayed in Jillys house for 5 days and it was like a home from home. Jilly prepared everything beautifully, with some groceries waiting for us at the village store and a lovely homemade cake. The location is a mere few steps from the village square and was ideal for our family with an older person and a toddler in a pushchair. Jilly even helped to organise a travel cot for us. The weather was great too so we had breakfast every morning in her beautiful garden sat in the sunshine. We would highly recommend Jillys house for anyone wanting to stay in the British countryside with a wealth of activities on the doorstep.

We arrived in the beautiful village of Alfriston as the sun went down. Jilly was waiting for us with Freddy, her little dog and greeted us warmly. Jilly's cottage was perfect, cosy and relaxing. Jilly had laid out a fire for us, left us a bottle of Proseco and a banana loaf....what more could you ask. We had a tasty meal at the Wingrove House hotel -recommended. There are nice walks right from the house up onto the downs or along the river. (Bring waterproof walking boots.) Lovely views out to sea and of the Longman of Wilmington. We would love to come again to hear the hooting owl, the dawn chorus and the morning cockerel. Also we had a lovely meal we bought and cooked from the local post office store.

The Dene is perfect to escape with family or friends to beautiful Alfriston in the South Downs National Park, 2 miles from East Sussex coast. Private walled garden, lovely conservatory, wood burner with logs supplied, 6'6" beds, comfort and peace!

The Times described The Dene as a "comfortable Grade II listed house that sleeps 12" and the Daily Telegraph as "the ultimate festive house party". There are 7 bedrooms (5 doubles and 2 attic rooms, one with a double and one with two single beds), 3 bathrooms, a lovely open plan kitchen and dining room, perfect for families and friends cooking and eating together. There's a beautiful walled garden and conservatory to relax in good weather.

Alfriston is a historic village, set in the lovely South Downs, granted a Royal Charter as a market town in 1406. It has interesting, independent shops (Much Ado Books, Steamer Trading cookshop), a lovely church ("the Cathedral of the South Downs"), The Clergy House (the first house bought by the National Trust, for £10!), two hotels, two pubs, a restaurant and several tea shops, so you are never short of eating opportunities! The Village Stores are open every day with excellent deli and basic provisions. Nearby are Drusilla's Zoo, Glyndebourne Opera House, Charleston Farmhouse, and of course the glorious walks in the South Downs and the fantastic chalk cliffs of the Sussex coast. Walk from the house to see the murals in Berwick Church (45 mins), the "smallest church" in Lullington (20 mins), the Long Man of Wilmington (45 mins), or just to one the many pubs in walking distance.

Michael was an absolutely fantastic host. He did not give us the pressure of unpacking with him there, but he gave us an hour or so before he came and knocked, and welcomed us. He gave us a good explanation of the area, and pointed us towards some great little places in the village to visit. The home itself was phenomenal - luxurious is the word to describe it. With classic decor, exposed wooden beams, traditional furnishings and an incredibly well equipped kitchen, we wanted for nothing. The bedrooms are an excellent size, with the emperor beds being the real selling point in this regard. The garden is beautifully well kept, and the conservatory/sun lounge was fantastic. This was where we hung out most, even though it was a cloudy day. Parking is ample, and there is another road on which you can park for free if needed. 15 mins drive from Seven Sisters coastline, there is no reason not to visit this and take in the stunning white cliffs. Excellent property and would definitely stay again.

We had a great weekend celebrating a special birthday. We were made very welcome and the house was beautiful and perfect for our requirements. The welcoming cake and chocolates were a nice personal touch. We also used Julia Dunk (mentioned on the Dene's website) for catering a wonderful lunch and a unique and very special birthday cake and decorations - check out her (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) page. The only thing missing was that the wine fridge didn't have shelves for champagne bottles! But then we don't even have a wine fridge at home.

Our host was organised and efficient with details of the house. We were welcomed with a lovely cake and fresh flowers. The house and garden was of a very high standard. The area is beautiful with interesting riverside and down land walks. e loved the chalk long man and chalk horse and enjoyed walk along the seven sisters. Alfriston is a charming village with a well equipped village shop and lots of cafes. There is an excellent farm shop a few miles away so we had no problem cooking tasty meals. he house was well equipped for all ages.

We (myself and nine friends) absolutely loved our stay at The Dene. From the moment we arrived to fresh flowers, the welcoming glow of lamps, Lindt chocolate bunnies in every room (it was Easter!) and, best of all, a freshly made chocolate flapjack on the kitchen side (this was not just any flapjack - it was made at Badgers cafe in the village (which Michael also owns) - and exceeded all expectations) we knew we were in for a comfortable stay. Michael had left all the information we required in the house but we knew we could contact him if we needed. The house is impeccably decorated and just beautiful - and those beds are HUGE. We'll hopefully be back soon!

The Dene was the perfect place for a group of us 50 somethings to get together and have an amazing weekend. The house is beautiful. The decoration is very tasteful and in perfect condition all in the best possible way. When we arrived there were cards to make us welcome and a delicious cake from the cafe. The bedrooms were so comfortable and the kitchen well stocked with utensils. The house is perfectly set up for a group getting together. We walked to East Dean through the stunning countryside. Would definitely recommend!

Spent two nights in Megs home and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Location is quite close to two local corner shops to pick up small items and not too far from Brighton if you fancy the journey but Eastbourne is just a pretty. We were a group of 6 and there was plenty of space for all of us. There is a second bathroom/shower through the kitchen. All rooms with double beds are quite spacious and light. Sheets and towels were given and left clean when we arrived. As a group we have all said we'd like to stay again entry was easy and Meg got back to us as soon as possible although there was not actually meeting. We enjoyed our space and would highly recommend for groups as there's ample room.

My place is in the South Downs National Park. The South Downs way runs in front of the cottage. The walking from here is stunning. Breath-taking views, rolling countryside covered with wildflowers, ancient barrows, friston forest and the Long Man of Wilmington. It is a 5 minute drive to some fabulous beaches; Cuckmere Haven, Birling Gap and Beachy Head. The cottage is cosy and characterful with a good size garden. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and furry friends.

The cottage is 300 years old and full of character. Downstairs is a good size kitchen and living room with wood burning stove. The bathroom is also downstairs. Bathroom facilities are shared. The water pressure here is incredible as it runs from a reservoir at the top of the hill. So you will experience a power shower with a difference. There is also a comfortable bath. The bedroom has a double bed and is full of character, spacious and comfortable. The accommodation is friendly and welcoming. It is clean and cosy. It is also rustic. The sheets and mattresses are good quality but I don't own an iron and I won't be ironing sheets. The house is old and I have a dog. If you are looking for immaculate whiteness this won't be the place for you.... There is no television. There is a lovely garden, packed full of wildlife friendly plants. A pond, over which the dragonflies dance and the swallows swoop....

Jevington is a beautiful Downland village. It is full of character. Old flint cottages, beautiful ancient church and a damn fine pub... There is a tea room opposite the cottage. The walking and countryside surrounding it is stunning. Its wildlife tastic!

Highly recommended. Perfect location for walkers right next to South Downs Way. Lovely old cottage. Jo was lovely and welcoming, as was Peg her border collie. Would love to come back.

A very special and charming semi-attached cottage in a rural setting in the old village of Jevington. The cottage is in walking distance to the local pub (with reputation of good food). You enter from the back of the house. We only met Jo when leaving, but got a very nice impression. The cottage is rather small with tiny rooms, very authentic for cottages, I guess. Jo is a skilled gardener, and the garden offers nice views and a terrace. You have to bring your food as no shops in Jevington.

Jo was the perfect host. The whole experience was easy and hassle free. Jo is a lovely person: warm, kind and welcoming. Her cottage was also lovely: clean and tidy with lots of character. The village is small and quiet and has a great little pub with good food and a decent selection of ales. I would definitely recommend this place.

Your room is a good size double with ensuite consisting of shower, sink and toilet. Your room has a view across the garden.

Filching is a small hamlet between Wannock and Jevington. The small Village of Jevington is a few minuets drive along the country road it has a lovely old pub called the Eight Bells where they serve a selection of ales they offer a good lunchtime and evening menu, last orders for food at 8.30pm. Continue along the road and you can access the Hamlet of Crowlink with stunning views of the Seven Sisters the village of East Dean is a short walk away from Crowlink it has a lovely pub on the village green. Birling gap is a short drive or a lovely walk or cycle away where you can take in breath taking views including Birling Gap with its sea views and beautiful sunsets. Eastbourne is a short drive away it has a range of shops, pubs and restaurants, the famous pier and more beaches. Newhaven ferry port to Dieppe in northern France is approximately a 30 minute drive away.

Sweet touches in the room with silk curtains and ribbons, tea/coffee etc and they made the bed in the morning whilst I was out. Very friendly and accommodating. Just full post code in advance and directions, I.e mileage from main road would be especially helpful in the dark.

Mandy and John are fine hosts--sociable and welcoming. The house is immaculate even though they have well behaved cats and a mischievous kitten. They let me pick lettuce from the garden and over all was a nice stay. Just need to be tolerant of the rooster...

Mandy and John have set the bar high with our first AirB&B experience. We had a lovely welcome to the house and the animals and Mandy was kind enough to get some dairy free milk in for me knowing that I had food intolerances. The room itself is self contained and private with a separate bathroom. The location was great for the Arlington Stadium and we enjoyed the short walk across the green lanes to the local pub. The Eight Belles is worth a visit for an evening meal or a Sunday roast but remember to take the torch offered by Mandy & John. Thank you both.

The room is comfortable with a private bathroom and quite isolated from the rest of the house which allows good privacy. Mandy and her husbands are very friendly, they even gave us a lift back to the station and lend us a local map which was very useful to have nice walks in the area. The house is only a few miles from the train station and one mile from a little village with a pub, so you can walk every where but the road from the station to the house is not so safe to walk. We did not have access to the kitchen but we had nice breakfasts in the morning included (with homemade jams and homemade honey!). Overall, it is a very nice place to stay to enjoy walking in the countryside.

This listing is for our twin room with two very comfortable 3' single beds. (Please note we cannot accept more than two guests in this room, this is our home and not a hotel). Situated on the first floor next to our Double bed guest room, (double room is on a separate listing). It also has large fitted wardrobes with plenty of hanging space and room for your luggage. A chest of drawers, bedside cabinets, full length mirror, plus a hairdryer, wireless internet access and Tea and Coffee making facilities. There is a shared guest bathroom with a hand basin, WC and shower over the bath (to conserve water only the shower is available). Should the other guest room be unoccupied or booked by you, then you will have exclusive use of the bathroom. The bathroom on your floor is for guests only and is cleaned daily. There is also an additional ground floor cloakroom for guest use. We offer a generous continental-style breakfast, which is available between 8.30am - 9am included in the price. (we can be flexible by prior arrangement) Guests may arrive between 5pm and 8pm (this can be flexible by prior arrangement) but must depart by 10am..

We are ideally situated 3.4 miles (5.4 km) from the beautiful Victorian seaside town of Eastbourne. Enjoy stunning coast and countryside walks in the new South Downs National Park which is only 0.5 mile (0.8 km) away and is easily accessible from Laburnums on foot. There are three pubs in Willingdon village. The nearest of these is the British Queen which is just around the corner at the Triangle. Other facilities at the Triangle include a small supermarket, a post office, a cafe and a chemist. The wider area is bursting with so many things to do, discover 1066 castles, museums and art galleries, soak up the atmosphere at the bustling Sovereign Harbour or relax and enoy the views at Beachy Head or Eastbourne’s award winning parks and gardens. For all of your entertainment needs there are two theatres in Eastbourne and there is a multiplex cinema at Sovereign Harbour around 4 miles (6.4km) away. Susan and Trevor were fantastic hosts, they were both extremely welcoming and friendly during the whole of our stay. The description of the room available is accurate; the beds are comfortable, there is a large wardrobe with plenty of space, tea and coffee facilities, a TV with a variety of DVDs, a ironing board and iron was made available and the house is located on a quiet residential street. I would recommend this listing as a convenient place to stay and is only a 15 minute drive into Eastbourne.
