  • This space was the perfect relaxing getaway that we needed. Nice and quiet and surrounded by forest. The logging roads were great for snowshoeing as well

  • Cabin is as advertised. Clean and well appointed. Communication was easy. Would recommend a stop at the Haliburton Brewing Co in Abbey Gardens. Nice folk and great brew. Rhubarb restaurant was also a nice find.

  • Cozy, chic cabin in the woods. Very clean with so many thoughtful touches. It made it very hard to leave when our weekend was over.

  • We had a great time at Whitney & Kyle's. So relaxing and in the most serene setting. Who needs waterfront when you can have tranquility. The cabin is small but super cozy. We appreciate that the sheets and towels are provided as some other hosts ask that you bring your own. There's plenty of content on the Apple TV which we put to good use. If you do plan on cooking like we did quite a bit, do bring spices, cooking oil, coffee and sugar. Due to the size of the kitchen, there's only so much that can be stocked. It is a steep hill to get up to the cabin. It snowed quite a bit during our stay so, although, the driveway was sanded twice during our stay, we still struggled to get up the hill once and we were in an SUV with winter tires. I don't think it would be an issue in the summer or warmer weather though. Just plan your ride accordingly. The location couldn't be better. It's close to town, convenience store, lcbo and Sir Sam's Ski Resort literally 10-15 mins away. Even driving around the surrounding area, it was so beautiful with the snow. We loved it there and would definitely go back!

  • We had a relaxing time and Whitney and Kyle’s lovely cottage. A great sense of privacy and still close enough to several amenities; making it feel like a home away from home.

  • We had a wonderful stay at Cranberry Cabin. We arrived right at the conclusion of a very large snowfall, so it was an absolute winter wonderland! The access driveway had been plowed, the heat had been turned on and some local craft beer had been placed in the fridge for us. We felt welcomed and were immediately impressed. The cabin is situated on a private wooded hilltop with no neighbours in sight. The cabin is quaint and charming. It is well stocked and super clean. The hosts were responsive and timely in their communication with us. We would definitely stay here again in the future and recommend to others.

    Todd2020-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely adored Whitney & Kyle’s little cabin in the woods! Perfectly remote and rustic, with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Extremely clean, beautifully decorated, stocked kitchen for cooking, and not one but two large TVs with Netflix and Apple TV. As other guests have mentioned, the driveway to the cabin is fairly steep and long, making it a bit challenging in winter conditions so make sure your vehicle can handle that. We really enjoyed our stay at the cranberry cabin and would recommend to anyone! Also be sure to check out Haliburton Highlands Brewing, Boshkung Brewing, and Rhubarb restaurant if you get the chance. Thank you Whitney & Kyle for everything!

  • We had SUCH a wonderful time staying at Sarah's house! The space is delightfully cozy with lots of thoughtful touches - chocolate when you arrive, tea, slippers, and super comfy towels. Everything exceeded our expectations! The location is great - blissfully removed from the main road but 7 min from the center of town. Great value and definitely recommend!

    Jeremy2020-03-15T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah’s home was sparkling clean and extremely well appointed with absolutely everything you need for a stay of one night or one month! Welcome to our newly renovated cottage on the beautiful Gull river. Quiet area yet still only 15 min from Haliburton. The water is safe for all age swimmers. There is little to no current in front of our cottage. You can jump right off our dock into the water or you can walk in. We do not have anyone across the water, it is a beautiful view of trees. Our year round cottage offers a Furnace, Central Air and Hot tub to enjoy. Ski hills and snowmobile trails are very close.
Our cottage is a cozy 3 bedroom space where you can relax and enjoy privacy. We will accomadate a max of 4 adults and 4 children, will look at different numbers on a one to one basis You can sit on the deck or the dock and relax or use one of the water toys we have on the property. Hot tub for your use outside to enjoy. As well as a firepit by water for your use. From June to Sept our property is sprayed for mosquitos. This greatly diminishes the amount of mosquitos and allows you to enjoy the outdoors more.
Property is close to a public boat launch on to Gull River which has access to Maple, Green and Pine Lake. Pine Lake has a public beach and boat launch area you can access. West Guilford is a 5 min drive and has a cute cottage store, beer - Liquor store, ice cream shop, laundry mat and pizza place as well as a general store. Snowmobiling is right out the door just down the road. Lots of great trails to explore. Sir Sams Ski Hill is 20 min away. It is a great Ski Hill and chalet where you can get a bite to eat. You can also Ice fish on the local lakes.
  • Quaint, very clean, awesome view of the river from the hot tub! We even saw three river otters and two trumpeter swans on our last evening! The space was cozy and comfortable :)

    Jessica2020-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Exactly we needed!! I booked Nikki’s cottage for a girls getaway and we had an amazing stay!! The cottage is cozy and welcoming with a fabulous Canadian decor theme and tributes to her family and The Tragically Hip...loved it! Nikki was quick to respond to messages. The little things make a difference... there are plenty of games, books, and movies, the dishwasher is super quiet, beds are comfortable, spices and condiments to use, great water pressure in the shower, and a beautiful view to the river... what more could we have asked for. Thank you Nikki, we hope to stay here again!!

    Sheryn2020-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay! Lee provided great suggestions for things to do nearby. We also enjoyed the hot tub very much! This cottage has everything you need. We would love to come back!

    Blair2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at Nikki’s cottage! Nikki was very quick to respond to any questions we had. We were 4 adults and found the cottage to be more than enough room for all of us. The cottage is well equipped and we enjoyed the tv and game options in the evenings (and the hot tub!). The OFSC snowmobile trail is only a couple minute ride from the cottage which was very convenient. We would definitely stay again.

    Jordanna & Pat2020-02-21T00:00:00Z
  • Nikki was welcoming and made check-in and out easy. The place was a great winter escape and the view of the water from the hot tub was perfect!

    Matthew2020-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • We absolutely loved our stay at Nikki's family cottage. The place was sparkling clean and so cozy. She left us a bottle of wine and a card which was such a nice touch. There were many board games and DVDs to choose from as well. While there are neighboring cottages, the place felt very private and was surrounded by trees. The river in the back of the cottage had no neighbors adjacent so it felt very private. The hottub was amazing and so nice to sit in during the winter. My only complaint was the construction that was happening next door - it was quite noisy for most of the day and started fairly early in the am, so if you are a late sleeper bring earplugs. However, this was a minor inconvenience in comparison to the lovely cottage and the construction finished in the afternoon. We would love to come back in the fall and use the firepit!

    Sarah2020-02-12T00:00:00Z
  • Nikki's cottage was perfect for our family vacation. Everything was as expected and more. We would visit again and recommend to others.

Please note - the cottage is located off of a private road which is plowed regularly during the winter months, however it is very hilly. The new gourmet kitchen comes fully equipped with all of the small & large appliances & utensils needed to create a delicious meal to share with family and friends. Basic spices, olive oil, tea & coffee are provided with compliments. There are two full bathrooms – one on the main floor and another one the second floor which acts as an en-suite with full washer and dryer. The three season screened in ‘Haliburton Room’ acts as the perfect rustic escape from those super warm summer days, or as an evening retreat to crack out the board games! Our expansive deck can be enjoyed all day long with beautiful lounging & dining furniture, gas BBQ, and a hot tub with views that are second to none! Just off the deck to the rear of the property, there is a fire pit to enjoy on those cooler evenings. Redstone lake is part of a 3 lake chain for miles of exploring and crystal clear water for swimming, diving, relaxing - you name it! Down by our beautifully natural and rugged shore line, we upgraded two decked platforms and added chairs for you to relax and soak up some Vitamin D. There is a 4 person Pedal Boat, two Kayaks and two Paddle Boards for you to use with compliments - 6 adult life jackets in varying sizes are provided, as well as two youth life jackets. There are approximately 120 steps through the beautiful forest to access the water front. Nestled deep in the woods, The Birchwood Haliburton is a pristine gem in the heart of Ontario's vacation paradise.
  • My husband and I plus the dog had the greatest three night stay at The Birchwood. Talk about the most stylish cozy cottage on the most private scenic setting. We walked for hours on the frozen lake with views of rolling tree lined hills everywhere. It's truly a winter wonderland. After our long days outdoors we had a wood burning fire and a hot tub to come home to. This cottage is a perfect getaway any season of the year. I highly recommended connecting with nature and being spoiled with top notch hospitality. An A++ for both. Thanks for a perfect getaway at your beautiful retreat The Birchwood Ryan and Blair, we look forward to returning.

Ryan was an amazing host, and really went above and beyond to accommodate us, and make us feel welcome and comfortable. We came up for Valentine's with winter in full force and temperatures hitting Minus 33. This I would imagine be challenging to a Host to stay on top of his game to make sure everything is functioning in this climate and I can say everything was above and beyond our expectations and functioning perfectly. These guys are Pros with Hearts big gold with special touches you will have to see to believe. So glad to have been embraced by The Birchwood and all of the Lovley that comes with it. Book it and you will see. 🇨🇦 Team Birchwood 🇨🇦 Karen & Troy & Donovan 🐾

  • Ryan and Blair were the most wonderful hosts! Communication leading up to our stay was fantastic - they provided quick responses to all of my questions and also provided a welcome manual, which was very helpful. Upon arrival, we found a welcome note along with complimentary wine - a great personal touch that made us feel very welcome! We were also provided with complimentary coffee, tea and cold brew, which our group really appreciated. Ryan and Blair also had the fireplace going for us prior to our arrival, so the cottage was warm when we arrived. The cottage is beautiful, very clean and spacious (there were 6 of us and we were very comfortable). Many items that we would typically bring with us were provided - basic ingredients for cooking, cookware, beach towels, board games, etc. We enjoyed snow shoeing, ice fishing, tobogganing and frequented the hot tub. We all really enjoyed ourselves and would love to return next year. I highly recommend Ryan and Blair's place for a fun and relaxing getaway!

  • Caroline was great to communicate with.... we enjoyed our winter long weekend near Haliburton Forest, great location for snowmobiling and ice fishing. Local ofsc trails are right across the lake. Ample parking for trucks and trailers. Place was very clean and well stocked....beds were comfy. Caroline also had the opportunity to check us in early and was very accommodating.

  • Fantastic location and beautiful sparkling clean venue. Great view on the lake and hosts a truly wonderful quiet getaway.

    Emilia2020-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • I can’t say enough about how great Caroline’s place is. The pictures are good but don’t do it justice... My friend and I spent 3 nights there for a girls weekend away and both of us wished we could have stayed longer. The view was amazing, the place was sparkling clean with too many special touches to list, and Caroline was an awesome host. She very graciously allowed us to check out a late - at no extra cost - because of an ice storm. I would recommend this place to anyone!

    Sylvia2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time at Caroline’s place: it is big, clean, with everything you possibly need (even canoes!). You feel like home as soon as you come in. Located just by Green Lake, the place is super calm and peaceful, a perfect retreat from the city. We came during winter, and the sceneries are absolutely beautiful! There was a lot of snow, but the roads are practicable, and we could even walk on the lake. We enjoyed every moment of our stay, going to hike in the snow, seeing wolves and even doing dogsledding (a marvellous experience at the nearby Haliburton Forest), while our evenings were about dinners and board games made perfect by the warmth of the place. To finish off, Caroline is very responsive and helpful and kindly replied to any message we sent. Thank you so much Caroline! We hope to come back in another season to see how it changes.

  • The home was bigger than anticipated and was very clean. Lots of flat land for kids to play and beautiful views of the Lake. We had a great time and fell in love with the area.

    Anthony2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great stay at the lake house! Communication with Caroline was easy and she was really helpful. The kitchen wasn't as clean as expected, but when we told Caroline she was very understanding and apologized. The kitchen was well equipped and the rest of the house was clean and comfy. We can recommend 100% and would alway stay at the lake house again!

  • Lee’s cottage is in fact better in reality than in the pictures. The view is amazing from both upper level deck and lower level. It is quiet yet lively merged in the nature. The indoor decor is thoughtful, sophisticated and stylish at the same time. I can imagine how much fun it could be for summer activities. Definitely coming back!

  • I stayed at Sean's cottage for the Haliburton Forest Trail Race which was conveniently located 17 minutes from the start line (The Haliburton Forest and Wildlife Reserve). The check-in instructions were very clear and we had no issues at all during our stay. The cottage was clean, cute and rustic, and in a beautiful location. Sean is very responsive and is communication is excellent. He was also very accommodating with our check-out time which I really appreciated. Would definitely recommend this place!

  • The place was great and close to the water. There was a dock to lay on and the water was nice for swimming. You may want to bring some lawn chairs if you would like to sit down by the water. Two were available at the site. The living area indoors was clean and spacious. The cottage was hot at night due to the weather, it’s been a hot summer. Something to think about of you are visiting in 30+ weather, you may want extra fans. All in all it was a lovely place!

We had an amazing time and it is an amazing place.....great personal touches, cleanliness and just a terrific place. I truly cannot thank them enough and we enjoyed an exceptional stay. Wow!!

  • This cottage couldn’t have been a better fit for our trip. It was right beside a local snowmobile trail, and also only a 10 minute sled to Haliburton forest, which for us was perfect. Geoff and Charlene’s place was a great cottage to relax in after a day of sledding; cozy and quaint. The space has a nice cottage feel but also modern in ways, with a gorgeous shower and not to mention the lovely heated bathroom floors. It’s right on the lake so as pretty as it was in the winter, I can only imagine it’s view in the summer. You won’t regret booking this cute little cottage, we had a great time and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a little getaway or just simply a place to stay.

The cottage is extremely well equipped, in amazing condition, and just really really cozy. The views to the frozen lake were just stunning!! Geoff and Charlene are very nice, helpful and even left us a bottle of wine to enjoy as part of our stay. We highly recommend for a lovely escape break!

  • Geoff and Charlene's abode was the most fantastic place we stayed during our road trip. From the prepared firewood to them making space for us to walk on the ice, I would go so far as to say that these two are definitely in my top 5 of hospitable AirBNB hosts! They're also really nice! Thank you both so much for providing such a beautiful cottage on Kennisis Lake for my friends and I to enjoy!

  • This place is wonderful. I would like to say everything was perfect but it was our first time getting to stay in a cottage far from the city. However, everything we carried with us that we thought we would need was already there. The place is full of equipment for anything you will ever need. I never thought like "if they had this it would be good". The place is basically perfectly thought of whatever you may need. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They were there every time I needed them. And they were very quick to solve issues. All in all if I had so much fun in winter in this place, I can't imagine going in summer. Definitely gonna be back here at another time.

  • It was perfect for what we wanted! A cute cozy cottage vibe! The snowmobile trailer was right there for my husband and I and we loved just staying at the Airbnb relaxing in the hot tub and staying cozy inside! Margaret was super nice and welcoming. Highly recommend 😊

    Kayla2020-02-11T00:00:00Z
  • Margaret's house was an amazing find for a short getaway in the middle of nature. Her place is sparkling clean, very stylish, cabin-cozy and comfortable. The hot-tub is a really nice addition - sitting in it with jets off and simply listening to the trees was a serene experience that is hard to replicate. Check-in was very easy - Margaret welcomed us and showed us everything we needed to know. The welcoming gift and card were very nice touches! Margaret is an amazing host... she was very responsive, kind, helped us plan local activities and did an outstanding job making sure our stay was as comfortable as possible. She deserves superhost status no questions asked. I would not hesitate to stay here again and highly recommend to a couple or small family looking for a quick retreat into the woods. Five stars across the board.

  • Had a great stay!! Thanks for the great hospitality. Apartment was comfortable and well appointed. A great place for a restful weekend.

    Jason2018-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • What made this space so special was the extra personal touches. From the wine to local tips to little shampoos/conditioners/toothpaste, to robes and sandals, Margaret thought of everything! Margaret was quick to respond and she was in touch with us throughout our drive to provide us with directions. She welcomed us when we got there to give us a tour of the apartment but otherwise let us enjoy our privacy. This was a lovely getaway from the city and we hope to come back soon!

    Inderpreet2020-01-12T00:00:00Z
  • Highly recommend this location. Sharon and her husband were very welcoming. The room and the adjacent bathroom were spotless and ready for our arrival. What made our stay special were the small extras provided: home-baked bread and muffins, continental breakfast and a car brushing following a snowy night. Unexpected, but so very appreciated. I would absolutely stay at this AirBnB on any future trips to Haliburton.

  • Sharon is a wonderful and friendly host! She's always thinking about her guest's comfort and enjoyment. I was only able to stay one night and leave fairly early but I plan on going back. The room is done in red accents, my favourite colour and a good size. She had wonderful homemade treats which were so yummy! I had my morning tea and breakfast on her front deck overlooking lovely trees and the bubbling sound of her pond. I loved it!

  • Wow!It just like staying at a luxury resort. We had a wonderful time at this beautiful cottage. It was absolutely perfect holiday we feel after one week long stay. The cottage is far enough away from the main road, but just located the side of the lake with great views. The bed are so comfortable and we had great sleeping every nights. Cooking in the kitchen with top range appliances is a pleasure. The spacious outdoor cedar deck has a comfort sofa for sunshine afternoon tea and lovely table for dinner with nice sunset lake view. Specially the quality of toiletries at bathroom are even higher than in high star hotel. We enjoy the staying at this wonderful place and very appropriate to the Host-Snez!

  • Our week long stay was more than “Just Right” - it was absolutely perfect (weather included). The cottage is so fresh and clean and comfortable. The decor is new and modern but still has that cozy cottagey feel. We were impressed with the extras provided. The kitchen is fully equipped, the spa-like bathroom is complete with toiletries and robes, and even blanket wraps are provided when sitting outside on these now crisp fall mornings and cooler evenings. The upper deck and dock are large and new with perfect seating arrangements for just enjoying the gorgeous lake views and changing colours of the trees. Every detail to make ones stay enjoyable and comfortable has truly been thought of. Thank you for the wonderful opportunity to enjoy your little slice of paradise at “Just Right”.

  • Awesome stay! A very well appointed cottage, on a beautiful lake!

    Ulrica2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • If you want luxury book “Just Right”, this property far by exceeded our expectations, from walking in and being met with a beautiful clean smell and being exceptionally well cleaned (and I’m fussy!) We had the most relaxing stay, we loved the comfy beds and fluffy towels. The kitchen had everything you may need. Then the outside space was fantastic and well maintained. As a family with young children (3 and 6 years old) we really appreciated the use of a washing machine and dryer. Any questions we had before and during our stay were answered quickly. Thank you for everything.

    Rachel2019-08-25T00:00:00Z
  • My family and I just returned from our second visit to Just Right. We had a wonderful time again at this beautiful cottage. Every detail is thought out to make the visit enjoyable for the guests. Since we visited last year, they put in new kitchen appliances, a laundry room, and a new deck. Cooking in the kitchen is a pleasure with everything you could possibly need. We took advantage of the kayak, paddle board, and canoes each day. The beds are so comfortable and we had great sleeps after being on the dock all day. It was a pleasure to visit and hope to return in the future. Beautiful cottage on beautiful lake.

    Nancy2019-08-17T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is amazing. Do not hesitate for one minute to book it. The cottage was spotless when we arrived. Snez has left beautiful toiletries (like a hotel), clean robes and slippers. The dock has sun all day, there are toys for the lake, and the outdoor furniture is gorgeous. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the upper deck on the very luxe outdoor couches. It’s about 30 min to Haliburton if you feel like getting out for an hour or two. I can’t review this cottage highly enough. It’s modern but still cottagey. Book it!!! Oh and we were one couple, our 6 month baby and our nanny. Lots of room and privacy with the bunkie.

    Adena2019-08-10T00:00:00Z
  • Heaven - "Just Right" really does describe this property. Far enough away from the minor road, far enough away from the lake side, secluded yet with an intriguing view through the pines to the lake, ample accommodation for a family of 4, multiple dining options - inside, on the balcony or down by the lakeside on the deck. Really thoughtful equipping - a kitchen with top range oven/hob & combi-microwave, fridge and (a personal bug-bear) wonderfully sharp knives for food prep. A good sized bathroom decked out like a spa - wash away the lake water in the shower or luxuriate in the bath. For leisurely days reading by the lake to more active days exploring the multiple lakes in the provided kayak, canoes and paddle board this place caters for all. With all this on offer it is difficult to think about venturing far but Snez highlighted the local attractions to us - we enjoyed the Husky cuddling session, we were transfixed by the Wolf enclosure and we had planned to do more at the Haliburton Forest reserve - just couldn't drag ourselves away from Just Right anymore. Cannot exaggerate how wonderfully relaxed we found ourselves at the end of our stay - no mean feat considering we've a 15 yr old boy and an 18 yr old girl with us. We all agreed that this was the best airbnb we have stayed in to date. Thank you so much Snez & Voja, we so hope to be back!

    Claire2019-07-28T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay with our family. The location is breathtaking. The lake water around the dock was weed free and great for swimming. We enjoyed the paddle board, kayaks and canoes daily. The cottage is sparkling clean, with high quality furnishings and touches. You can tell the hosts put a lot of care into making sure their guests are very comfortable during their stay. We highly recommend!

  • Kent's place is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway from Toronto. The place is clean, easy to find, has direct lake access and gorgeous views.

    Xiaotian2020-03-08T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great weekend! The place was great, as advertised; and Kent was great and responded quickly. No complaints. Great layout and view with the amenities you need.

    Jay2020-02-23T00:00:00Z
  • This is a very nice place to stay, even in the deep winter ! The place is quiet, well equipped, stylish, and the owner is so kind ! We will be back soon...

    David2020-02-18T00:00:00Z
  • Don't hesitate to book this cottage. We stayed in the winter and as a fairly experienced Airbnb'er this was by far the most well equipped cottage we've ever stayed at! The place was immaculate and organized. It's super easy to find, easy access to the lake, even by snowmobile. Kent is super fast in responding, although if I had read the book I wouldn't have had to ask any questions! 100% recommend.

    Jeff2020-02-03T00:00:00Z
  • Great cottage with all the amenities. Very clean. Great communication from Kent. Would highly recommended this place to anyone.

    Travis2020-01-19T00:00:00Z
  • We loved this cottage so much that we asked to stay an extra night! Kent was both accommodating and helpful in extending our booking. The space is absolutely perfect, warm, cozy and quaint. We had everything we needed including towels, sheets, cards and games to play. We were also close to all the fun winter sports/activities that Haliburton has to offer. Thanks again Kent!

    Jennifer2020-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Location was great and Kent was so helpful and responded promptly to any messages! We will look forward to staying there again!

  • Amazing quiet cottage with lots of autumn views. And Sara was so friendly and helpful.

    Justin2019-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful little spot up north. Sara was a great host and the cabin was perfect for what we needed. We went at the perfect time for the fall colours. Definitely recommend this spot.

    Stephanie2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • Sara is the sweetest! Loved this stay.

    Hayley2019-09-27T00:00:00Z
  • The GIngerbread Cottage is an adorable little cottage nestled in the woods and was the perfect place for us to stay. Just the right size for two people, and has nice little touches inside that made the space feel special. Thank you Sara!

    Dannah2019-09-22T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful location, and awesome little cabin. It was exactly what I was looking for. Wish I had more time there to relax and absorb it all.

    Rick2019-09-07T00:00:00Z
  • Words cannot possibly describe how amazing this little oasis really is. Sara truly is the most thoughtful host. She goes above and beyond to ensure you enjoy your stay. Her property is beautifully maintained, private and spacious. It includes an outdoor kitchen, shower and community game room for your use. The Gingerbread cabin is absolutely stunning. It’s updated decor perfectly complements the rustic features of the cabin. The bed is comfy, the shower is hot and the kitchen is stocked with all the essentials. We were fortunate enough to experience a thunderstorm on the screened in porch of our cabin. I would highly recommend this location for any traveller.

    Eric2019-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Sara’s Gingerbread cottage: The room is very pretty, generous and super clean! Neat bed linens as well as the bathroom. Nice place to relax and to disconnect from all the hassle of big cities. Our good memories include an excellent candle light dinner on the patio, pit fire and movies! The host (Sara) was also very nice, open minded and helpful. She answers immediately and she offers to help in many areas. We had a great time during these 4 nights and we felt like home while staying at this place. Lovely experience Explicit recommendation!

A bright, open concept, newly rebuilt cottage set on a small private lake. High ceilings, stunning screened in veranda, large kitchen, and panoramic views make for a memorable getaway. Master bedroom has exquisite views, as well as an en suite bathroom with a soaker tub. Cottage patio overlooks a beach with access to the quiet, Redstone River-fed lake. Enjoy campfires, hiking and watersports in the summer, and a cozy, warm retreat by the fire after a day of skiing or snowshoeing in the winter.
THINGS TO BRING WITH YOU: There is a fire pit outside, but you will have to bring your own wood. We provide toilet paper, soap, dish detergent, and cleaning products, as well as bedding, pillows, towels, and dish towels. Although we provide towels for use in the cottage, we do not provide beach towels...so bring your own! You will find oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, sugar and coffee filters. You bring the rest! Do not drink the water....there is a bottled water dispenser and we provide 2 large bottles of drinking water.
This private lake has only two properties and no motorboats. The only sounds come from the birds and the moving water. Unlike many cottage properties where you have to drive on long, winding country roads to get there, access to our cottage is very easy. Located off the main Kennisis Lake Road, you drive only about 400 meters down a municipal road which is ploughed all winter. And once you are there you will feel like you are living in the wilds, with only nature in sight. We are on 5 acres of private property overlooking a private lake and a river, with one cottage off in the distance across the lake. Ten minute drive to the Haliburton Forest (wolf centre, dog sledding, trails), 18 minutes to Sir Sam's Ski Hill, and lots more to see and do in the Haliburton area.
  • My husband, my in-laws, our 2 dogs and I had a great stay at Joanne's. If you're looking for privacy, beautiful view, comfortable stay then look no further! The kitchen is the biggest kitchen we've ever had in any cottage that we rented before. My mother-in-law loved cooking in the kitchen! We all love how private the location feels. The only other cottage we can see is Joanne's across the lake! It was quite serene. Joanne took time to stop by with her husband to greet us which goes to show how attentive she is to all her guests. We absolutely loved our time and hope to come back again next year!

    Raxme2019-10-04T00:00:00Z
  • Stunning home on a private lake! Quiet and serene. We splurged for our anniversary weekend and it did not disappoint! We had a lovely stay. The hosts were not able to meet us in person, but their communication was excellent and we felt very welcome. We brought our mountain bikes, and this was a great location close to the Haliburton Forest and Sir Sam’s.

    Heather2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is a gem in a scenic area and Joanne truly is a super host! We were up for a weekend wedding in Minden this September and enjoyed a relaxing cottage stay. The layout, decor and cleanliness of this cottage is top notch. It was a family friendly spot ideal for those who like to cook and share meals together. We’d love to come back on a warmer weekend to enjoy a swim from the sandy beach area and a meal on the screened porch. Everything was perfect! All of us agreed that if we could make an annual “girls” trek to this spot we would!

    Margot2019-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • My family and myself where very pleased with the beautiful landscape and architecture. Coupled with outstanding hospitality and amenities. The property had excellent privacy and was perfectly located everything was within a 15 minute drive but was far away from any kind of traffic. Truly heaven on earth.

    Kristi2019-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • This cottage is a supremely stunning space with a lovely aesthetic. Extremely clean and very cozy. The hosts are wonderful, easy to get a hold of and provided lots of information about the area. Super relaxing atmosphere and feels like you're in your own little paradise having the private lake in the backyard. Rooms were comfortable and the kitchen was a joy to cook in! Would love to return again!

    Kaileigh2019-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Went up to Joanne’s cottage for a weekend getaway with my significant other. As soon as we opened the door, we were astonished by the size and cleanliness. The pictures on the site don’t do this cottage justice. It’s very spacious, new, and inviting. We are into cooking, so the kitchen and BBQ access were amazing. The master bedroom was beautiful with an en-suite washroom and bathtub. We particularly enjoyed the screened-in sunroom, as we were up north during mosquito and black fly season. Lastly, if you’re into privacy, this is the place for you. You can see Joanne’s cottage across the lake, but other than that, it feels like you’re miles away from anybody. I would highly recommend this beautiful cottage to anybody looking for a getaway to a private, quiet spot. Thanks again for everything, Joanne!

    Laura2019-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • Joanne was great to communicate with. Everything was ready for our arrival, we received a quick tour of the cottage and property. The cottage was very clean and comfortable for 2 couples and a baby. Had everything we needed for our stay, property is very relaxing and sounds of nature were fantastic. Much larger then expected and fantastic view! Would definitely book again.

  • Amazing location, and great for a family trip or a trip with friends! Bruce had kayaks, a canoe and a tin boat which made the stay very enjoyable!

    Sebastien2019-10-27T00:00:00Z
  • Had a wonderful time at Bruce's cottage. Beautiful, quiet and stocked with everything you need for a relaxing weekend away! Area is beautiful, and there are great hikes just a few minutes drive away. Bruce was quick to answer any questions we had. Would recommend for a weekend getaway!

    Jess2019-10-14T00:00:00Z
  • Nice cottage, cosy and quiet. The favourite in the autumn season is the indoor fireplace, very easy to setup and enjoy the family time

    Ken2019-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage is very cozy and set up perfectly for a weekend away. The added bonus of the tin boat, canoe and kayaks make activities endless. The kitchen is well stocked with kitchenware. The indoor and outdoor fireplaces are a great addition with plenty of wood to use. The cottage is located further down from what google maps indicated, but the number is well marked. We really enjoyed our stay.

    Lara2019-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Bruce’s cabin was so much fun! He has everything you need to have a good time! As well as a great view!

    Sarah2019-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Bruce’s place is great, very authentic cottage experience. The cottage has a huge fireplace and has a very rustic and homely feel, this was the highlight for my family and I. Also having boats to use is a really nice bonus, being able to get out on the lake was a lot of fun. If you want a laid back, back to basic cottage experience, this is your place.

    James2019-09-08T00:00:00Z

  • Very clean and comfortable, with all the amenities and some thoughtful extras in the cottage.

    Mark2020-03-17T00:00:00Z
  • Cute little cottage (emphasis on "little"; my fiancé hit his head on the ceiling a few times ;-) it was perfect for a romantic getaway. It is situated in wilderness, so an AWD is required. Also, because it is so remote, the Internet is not the fastest. The host set up the cottage nicely prior to our arrival, which was a sweet touch.

    Genevieve2020-03-11T00:00:00Z
  • This was such an awesome and unique stay! Everything from check in to amenities were easy and beautiful. Would definitely recommend this place to others. Very unique experience!

  • This place is amazing the prefect romantic getaway. The cottage has everything you need to make that special occasion. Location is close too town. Even in the winter it’s magical. Get your reservations in we will definitely be back can’t wait. Bettyann.

    Bettyann2020-02-26T00:00:00Z
  • We had gone up during our anniversary and this was such a nice secluded cabin! It was close to town if we needed anything but really felt like a magical place to be in the winter. Our host was amazing, we would definitely stay here again.

    Elianna2020-02-05T00:00:00Z
  • A great getaway if you're looking for something private and cozy. Very clean and warm and the area surrounding the cottage is gorgeous. If you're staying in the winter though, be sure you have 4-wheel drive and snow tires! The cottage is very far off the main road and our car got stuck while on our way into town halfway through our stay. The hosts were extremely quick to respond and to offer help – they set us up with a tow truck and made sure the road was plowed for us to get out. But even during the few hours we felt stranded, the cottage was warm and comforting and we felt very much taken care of by the hosts.

    Matt2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • What a charming little spot in the woods. There's two cottages side by side but tons of privacy, especially in the winter months. The attention to detail is what makes this space so special. Everything is well thought through and there's a coziness that comes with that. Kitchen is well stocked, tub upstairs is adorable and obviously the hot tub was a key feature during the cold winter evenings. There's a reason this place is in high demand. If there's a date available snag it before someone else does ;)

    Jena2020-01-02T00:00:00Z

The cottage is so amazing, we all had a great time and are looking forward to potentially returning next year! So many great memories were made on this amazing property, I would highly recommend renting!

  • Could you imagine to spend 3 days with your kids in a house in front of a lake in Canada? Could you imagine to be alone in the middle of the lake surrounded by a perfect landscape? Could you imagine how happy would be your kids with kayaks and paddlesurf for them during the whole day? At Cheryl's house our dreams became real.

    Oriol2019-08-02T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place in a beautiful area with lots of activities on spot. Even though the lake dock is across the road, it is quite spacious. The lake has good shallow area which is perfect for kids! Huge backyard with fire pit. Lovely place overall.

  • The cottage was amazing, extra amenities were fantastic and great for the kids. Paddle boards, kayaks, fire pit, BBQ and all the other kitchen supplies you would need were available. Bettina2020-01-26T00:00:00Z
  • This place is incredible! The bathroom and kitchen were spacious and modern; the living room and bedroom were so comfortable and charmingly rustic. Everything was sparkling clean, and the kitchen and bathroom were well-stocked. We felt at home right away, sitting in front of the fireplace and reading. Sarah and Steve were immediately welcoming - they even baked cookies for us before we arrived! They gave us a number of suggestions for where to hike in the area, checked-in throughout our trip to make sure we had everything we needed, and Steve even helped dig our car out of the snow. We would definitely come back!

    Gabrielle2020-01-19T00:00:00Z

Overall, just an amazing value. Definitely look forward to my next visit. Thanks so much to you both.

  • I just loved my time at Sarah’s and Steve‘s place! The house is so beautiful and super clean. The whole interior is wonderful and made me feel comfortable and like home right away. Furthermore the house is well equipped and especially the kitchen has everything you might need to cook dinner. Sarah and Steve both are lovely people who made me feel at home immediately. Depending on what you want you can have interesting conversation with them or just have your privacy. They also shared some recommendations about things to do in the area with me. Everything was just perfect and there is nothing I could say that I did not like. If I had more time I would have stayed a few days longer. All the best to you two!

  • This is a beautiful space. It's on a dirt road but only a couple hundred meters from the highway so don't be dissuaded. Every part of the house is just fantastic.

  • Pamela was a wonderful host! She was extremely pleasant, responded quickly to all of our messages, came and greeted us at the car, had the apartment heated up for us and recommended things to do in town. The apartment was spotless and perfect. Had everything we needed - extra blankets included! We would highly recommend going in the winter when there is a full moon! The site was stunning! Thanks Pamela and Hugh! We will be back!

  • Amazing cottage with beautiful views across a lake. 7 of us spent a very special Christmas at the property, with special help from Roland with regards to decorations at the cottage and amazing hospitality. We would really recommend the cottage to any future guests. Thanks again for making our stay so special!

    Kathryn2019-12-29T00:00:00Z
  • This place is worth every penny in every way. Super clean, spacious and well provisioned. We had the perfect family weekend here, celebrating Christmas and already talked about coming back in the summer . Our host Roland and his wife added thoughtful touches including a decorated tree for the occasion and were super fast and thorough in communicating all essential information. We played pool, games, sat by the soaring fire and walked for hours across the beautiful Lake.... memories we will cherish forever.

    Birgit2019-12-22T00:00:00Z
  • Very nice place, nice fireplace. I'm very happy of my stay at Roland's cottage.

  • Great cottage to stay in with family. Really enjoyed the location and the space. Perfect for what we needed.

    Luke2019-09-29T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed at Rolands place for a weekend get away with friends and our babies! My first reaction to the cottage which I was extremely happy with was that it was very clean! With two babies crawling around we really appreciated that! I’ve stayed at many Airbnb’s and the worst thing is to walk into a dirty place! This cottage was very clean and that made me very happy! Close to town for anything you needed! Being on the water was nice and the cottage was comfortable. Kitchen was good to as we cooked two meals a day there!! Couches were comfy and enjoy the Netflix for when the babies went to sleep! Fire pit was nice to! Roland also allowed us an earlier check in and we appreciated that also! He was good with communicating as well! Thank you for a wonderful stay!

    Maria2019-09-23T00:00:00Z
  • Had a great week at the cottage. It was spacious. The view was beautiful! Super close to town and Roland was available for help very quickly if needed! Would definitely recommend to family or friends!

    Jessica2019-09-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had such a great time at Roland's cottage! The water was excellent for swimming, minimal weeds and a very quiet part of the lake. With 4 young children (ages 3-8) I was worried about boat traffic but there wasn't any at all. The lily pad swim mat was awesome for the kids as well. We had one rainy day, which was spent reading in the screened room. The cool breeze and the sound of the rain falling could not have been more perfect.

  • **Don’t look for any other place! Book now!!** Geoff and Charlene’s place is heaven! Both cabins were clean and had all the space and amenities we needed. We had our very own private beach and got to use a kayak, paddle boat, and stand up paddles! Kids loved playing in the sand and making sand castles. It was so peaceful and calming to just sit by the dock (there are two by the way, one on either side of the cottage since it sits on a point) in the morning with a cup of coffee, or late in the afternoon before the sun went down. Didn’t get to meet Charlene as she was away at the time, but Geoff was a super friendly, accommodating host! He even offered to take us on a boat ride and we got to see the beauty that is Lake Kennisis. He also left a bottle of wine at the table for us. We would definitely book this place again.

    Adrian2019-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • This place is truly spectacular. The location was quiet, private and had 180-degree views of lake (it's on a sandy point). Two docks, one on each side to soak in the morning and afternoon sun, so many quaint places to sit and eat outside on the wrap around deck, on the beach, in the forest, a beautiful path to the bonfire pit beside the lake, great snorkeling off the point, lots of watercrafts, perfect sand beach and gradual entry for the kids to play safely, lots of mature trees, I mean everything exceeded our expectations. The cottage is clean and cozy with a modern/rustic bathroom with rainshower. My wife loved the rainshower so much now she wants one for our bathroom, ha. Kids loved the bunkie, fast WiFi so my son could play Fortnite in the evenings. Geoff and Charlene even left us some wine and a smores kit for our kids. Had a bonfire on the beach every night. Don't look for another place. This is the one to book.

    Mark2019-07-13T00:00:00Z
  • We had an amazing time staying here. Location is quite and veiws were beautiful. Had everything we need for a relaxing break. Had lots of fun on the kayaks and enjoyed sitting by the fire pit at night. Geoff and Charlene thought of everything to make our stay perfect and comfortable

  • A lovely, perfectly clean cottage with a great bunkie! Everything you need for a great experience. Geoff & Charlene were perfect hosts and provided so many personal touches that made it even better. The beds/ bedding was terrific and oh so cozy :) The new bathroom is beautiful and even has a heated floor! The point location is superb with a huge beach area. Canoeing is terrific in both directions. Highly recommend and look forward to coming back! 5 Stars all around!

    Wendy2018-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • I absolutely loved the stay. The place was cozy and clean and I would love to come back again and would recommend to anyone. A highlight was definitely using the pedalo on the lake. Thanks again for a lovely stay.

    Kay-Marie2018-10-24T00:00:00Z
  • The cabin is spacious and has everything you need! The cabin and the lake are even more beautiful than the pictures show and it's in a very pretty and secluded area. The cabin was very clean and everything was brand new. There's plenty of space in the kitchin and living room to lounge and it has a gorgeous view of the lake. The hosts were very nice and accomodating.

    Anna2018-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • We were staying at this cottage for a visit to Algonquin Park during Indian Summer. I have to say that the area around Kennisis Lake is in my eyes actually more beautiful than the park itself! The cottage was perfectly equipped, incredible location directly at the lake and beautiful scenery all around! Geoff and Charlene are always reachable via phone and very friendly. We had an amazing time there and I am hoping to come back one day!
