Food Scene

Kitch is perfect for a special treat or a first or last meal in Belfast. The food is delicious, but probably not recommended if you are on a budget. They use fresh and local ingredients. The owner greeted us the first day we came here and told us all the food on the kids menu is cooked from scratch. If you go Mon-Wed it is BYOB (bring your own wine). Great for lunch, dinner, or sometimes we just stop in for a cocktail and dessert. http://wearekitch.com/

We love the Teapot for a quintessential Northern Irish Breakfast. I recommend: Suki tea (local to Belfast) Ulster Fry or Belfast Bap They even deliver, so if you can't make it across the road, phone it in! You can also order online: http://www.theteapot-belfast.co.uk/ The Teapot is great value for money and perfect when on a budget.

This is a fab place near the Opera House, only 5 mins walk from our place. It's well known for its pre theatre menu, but we've been for weekend lunch and loved it! You can get a starter & main for about £20. The squid & dips starter is a must try! Address: 68/72 Great Victoria Street

Drinks & Nightlife

Love this place for the live music, 7 nights a week. It means no matter when you stay at our place on Salisbury St, there will always be a bar with live music at the end of the street. Not to be missed.

One of Belfast's oldest and most iconic bars, 10 mins walk from the apartment. It's really beautiful so I like to go during the day when it's quieter and you can see the whole place. Nice for a couple to get a cosy snug (small booth)! Go for a Guinness and they might even put a shamrock on top :-)

Parks & Nature

We like going to Botanic Gardens because it is close to the Ulster Museum (which is free to visit and perfect for a rainy day). There is also a kids playground (newly opened in the summer of 2018) at the far side of Botanic Gardens (walk towards Stranmillis embankment).

Check out if there are any shows on at the Lyric when in town, for a cozy night out. It's a small theatre that tends to put on local productions. Don't go hungry though the cafe is better for a glass of wine before the show than a meal. https://lyrictheatre.co.uk/whats-on/

Indoor science museum, near to the Titanic museum. We go to entertain the kids for hours and hours on a rainy day. All ages will love it, even the adults.

Shopping

I love walking along Botanic and popping into all the second hand book stores and checking out the books in the charity shops. I visited No Alibis for the first time recently and picked up some great kids books, even though it is a bookshop specializing in crime fiction: http://noalibis.com/

Award winning market, great to wander around and check out the old building. It has everything from antiques to speciality food and crafts and loads of food stalls to pick up a quick bite. Open Fri - Sun. I love it on a Sunday when you can chill out to local music and soak up the atmosphere.
