We love Neapolitan pizza and when we want to eat, we prefer to go to this pizzeria because they cook pizza "like in Naples". It's easy to get there. Take the tram n.8 near the house and get off at Arenula stop, walk five minutes to arrive in Largo di Torre Argentina. You arrived and ... buon appetito!

You can't miss the Pantheon. The light that, from the large hole in the center of the dome, comes down to illuminate with soft light all the beauty of the interior of this ancient temple is, for me, what makes it one of the most 'beautiful monuments of the city. And then it is in the historical center, easy to find!

Arts & Culture

Modern artists have discovered how to recycle an old slaughterhouse and make it the center of a district in which you will feel like inhabitants of Rome. Nearby is a nice market for fruit and vegetables, and you can have lunch in the market kiosks among the inhabitants of the neighborhood. This is a famous district for street art.

In the historical center, there is this ancient palace that was owned by a noble and powerful family and today has become a permanent exhibition of masterpieces of classical art. Inside, an enchanting theory of rooms accompanies the visitor to the discovery of dramatic marble figures and precious paintings that are shown to the visitor illuminated by a wise choreography. It is more fascinating than a museum and is not part of mass tourism.

It is a church that is located very close to the Colosseum and hides a treasure: going down the steps of a staircase you can visit three levels of the history of this church. A small masterpiece of acheology made by the monks who for many centuries have been dealing with the operation and good condition of this beautiful and fascinating Christian church. Unknown to the large touristic numbers.

If you prefer modern and contemporary art, I recommend this museum built in the 2000s and dedicated to contemporaries. The MAXXI, National Museum of XXI Century Arts in Rome, designed by the architect Zaha Hadid and managed by the MAXXI Foundation of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage. A little far from my home but worth it. There are buses that take you right there.

Just take a bus to the center and after a short trip into the heart of the city suddenly you'll be in the middle of a bucolic landscape. You can relax walking through centuries-old trees, large meadows and a small waterway, discovering the traces of ancient Rome and the places where the emperors chose to erect the funeral mausoleums and Christians of the first century found refuge for their loved ones dead (Catacombs). A different and authentic experience of the most ancient Rome.

City advice

Book before you go

Musei Vaticani, Colosseo, Galleria Borghese
