Drinks & Nightlife

Beer is core to Cincinnati's heritage, and Cincinnati is now rated one of the top 5 cities for microbreweries (by Smart Assets). Woodburn is our favorite neighborhood bar, boasting both unique brews, or liquor if that's your preference. Try a craft beer flight (one of our favorites is the Pineapple Saison). Woodburn does not serve food, but usually has a food truck on the back patio.

Comfort Station is a very unique cocktail bar that's walking distance from our place. A few tips: it's a bit hard to find as it's a converted public restroom (enter through the blue Women's sign), they have an outdoor space for when the weather is nice, and you can bring in food (we like pizza from Fireside down the street).

Urban Stead is one of our favorite food & drink spots. The owners have a serious passion for cheese made with locally sourced, high quality ingredients. We love the charcuterie board, the cheese curds, and accompany our snacks with well priced beers and cocktails.

This is one of the best brunch spots in the city, and a true Cincinnati staple. Sample goetta (a local Cincinnati specialty kind of like sausage), or the delicious McWaffle sandwich. Their Moules Frites are our favorite if we go for lunch or dinner.

This is our favorite local pizza! Try one of our favorites, the Porky Fig or Green Lantern. You can't go wrong with a classic pepperoni either, and they allow you to split types of pizza 50/50. During the fall, the best salad is the Harvest Salad, which has amazing boursin cheese. They have a few locations, but this is one convenient if you find yourself in the University of Cincinnati/UC Hospital area.

Skyline is the home of "Cincinnati chili." We like the 5 way: spaghetti, chili (thin, kind of like a sauce), beans, onions and heaps of cheddar cheese. The coneys are delicious too. Great as a quick or late night option!

Abigail Street is my wife's favorite restaurant, and great for date night or a small group. A few tips: the Ricotta & Honey is out of this world as an appetizer or dessert, they fill up quickly but do take reservations if you call ahead, and the plates are small, so you'll definitely want an assortment of items.

Our closest grocery store is about a 7 minute drive away, and is also directly next to a Walgreens. This is a smaller format Kroger, designed for students and young professionals in the Clifton/Corryville area, but it has all the essentials. As a heads up, you do need to drive through the west side of Walnut Hills which is still an up and coming neighborhood.
