At 6684 feet, this is the highest mountain east of the Rockies. Mt. Mitchell is home to hiking trails across the peaks of the Black Mountains, wild blueberry picking around Labor Day, annual Assault on Mt. Mitchell bike ride from Greenville, SC. There is a large restaurant and also a snack bar at the top. We live in the valley of the Black Mountains and the South Toe River. There is quite a lot of Cherokee history in this place and on our farm.
