“This is a GEM! Patricia has literally decades of experience hosting international volunteers of nonprofits and now she is sharing her hospitality via Air BNB. Honestly I couldn’t recommend her more: so many thoughtful touches: ginger tea at bedtime and coffee in the afternoons, plus her son shared his toys with our kids and led them in art projects. Also she offers meals and is a great cook! I can’t eat eggs or gluten and she whipped up delicious alternatives and was incredibly kind and helpful with details re the Somoto canyon and more. The rooms are simple but clean and private, and the bed was cozy (not overly hard like many in Nicaragua). I think for this price her place gives so much value, you really feel connected to a Nica family and she attends to you like a friend! Plus her house is in a great location, quiet but central to walk to Somotos shops, market, park or restaurant. I’ve stayed in many AirBnB locations and this was truly one of the most personable. Also even though she has two separate room listings (Colibri and Family Hostel) you can rent both if you are traveling with a family. We had our two girls in the room next door (2 twins) and we shared a bathroom. Our son who is 11 stayed in a separate room with its own bath across the small courtyard. It is great for a family or small group of friends. The table and hammock/lounge area added a lot of charm. Plus she offers filtered water to refill your bottles. All in all a Wonderful visit!”

“I do not know where to start describing Patricia, her family and that beautiful house that I have been calling for MY home for years! I have traveled all over the world and if I had to choose a favorite country, this would be Nicaragua and a city would be Somoto. And the main reason is for its people and especially Patricia and her family whom I consider my own family. I have lived with them during my Human Rights practices in Somoto and I have returned to visit them in different years, staying with them for weeks. It is the best place to stay in Somoto and the best restaurant too. What a delight Patricia's dishes, is an excellent cook, with her you will eat fresh and healthy food, very nutritious and original as well as the typical food, even more tasty than in any other place. It is a perfect option for vegetarians and vegans since Patricia loves to take care of herself and innovate in the kitchen and I repeat her dishes are delicious. She goes out of her way for her guests and makes you feel at home at all times, her son is intelligent and gracious, as well as very affectionate, it is impossible not to love him from the first minute. Like her nephews who are always around the house, whom I also want with all my soul, and her sister Francys hilarious and her mother so sweet. It will be a unique experience to stay with them that you will never forget! It also gives you the opportunity to take a trip to his farm that is a real green paradise in the mountains where you can share with people from the community and with the little animals you have, as well as making curd or tortillas, a unique experience. This text is very short to describe how great this family is. If you plan to visit the Somoto Canyon a couple of days I bet you would like to spend more time in that little town and with this family that stole my heart. I love you very much and miss you very much!”
