10, Nautical Mile - as the name suggests, this is a Mountain Cottage of a Mariner. This has been made out of love for the mountains and a wish to slow down the pace of life. Ideal for family and 'me' time, this is a home away from a home; tucked away in the lush green forest 15km away from the cantonment Town of Ranikhet at Uttarakhand.
“In a bit of a quandry, whether to pick the host or the space for an exceptional experience. Been to a lot of Airbnb's/Hotels but this wins hands down on being the perfect getaway with amazing location, views, hospitality by Ganesh/Rajesh with a awesome food experience served with a lot of love. The icing on the whole experience was AJ, guiding us and always making sure that our every need was taken care of. Simply put - it was a holiday that ticked all boxes. Not to be missed and for sure - Im going back SOON !!”
Naval officers abode in the Himalayas aptly named . After spending years in the beauty of coastal land and lapping in the sea and with it its infinite beauty ,a naval couple decided to build something in the Himalayas - their first love. It had to be serene, peaceful , with a garden, high but not too much, cool but not cold, homely and warm, in wilderness but connected, green but not a jungle. They searched and searched & finally found a place and built their dream cottage.
“We stayed at Mr. Raghavendra's cottage for 8days and had an absolutely amazing time ! The cottage is amazing and pictures don't do real justice. We had to stay put at the cottage only due to home quarantine rules, but the cottage and views are so nice, that we did not mind at all ! The place is like a birds paradise and had undiluted view of mountains and valleys. Ganesh was an amazing help and his food made the stay so much more enjoyable. And, Mr.Raghavendra was super super helpful throughout. He had already connected with the Village heads before confirming the booking, which gave us a lot of confidence to stay with peace in these times. Would definitely go back to spend more time without”
Vidyun's hill home in Dhamas, overlooks the snow clad Himalayan peaks of Trishul and Nanda Devi, with pine forest walks, bird watching and occasional sightings of leopard, pine martins, jackals in the forest behind the house. The house has 2 (two) "ensuite" bedrooms with private bathrooms. We do not give out the two bedrooms separately. Each bedroom is equipped to accommodate up to 3 guests. Even if a single guest books the entire cottage is kept free so u have EXCLUSIVE use.
“We are experienced travelers (my girlfriend is Russian and I’m Argentinian) that have travelled around the world intensely for the last 8 years. When the first cases of coronavirus hit India we were starting our travels in India, visiting Taj Mahal, Kajuraho and Varanassi. When my intuition suggested that a lockdown would soon be imposed, we decided to seek refugee in the remote mountains of Northern India. We were looking for a quiet place to retreat, totally off the beaten track, where (unlike Rishikesh, Dharamsala, etc.) you could still enjoy the silence of the Himalayas without running into a bunch of tourists. We stayed during the first four months of the lockdown in a beautiful house close to Nathuakan. We felt that we were in Heaven. When the owner told us that he was planning on visiting the house and we would have to move out, we got a bit worried. The options that we found on internet didn’t look as good and comfortable. But when we found Vidyuns in Dhamas region, we decided to give it a try and we found ourselves in a higher Heaven than the previous one. The location is breathtaking, surrounded with pine forests with endless trails connecting small mountain villages. The views of the Himalayan white caps from the spacious veranda is enchanting! Two beautiful bedrooms nicely decorated with en-suite bathrooms and massive glass panels allow you to enjoy a million dollar view without even needing to get out of bed. A decently equipped kitchen and a nice dining room complete this neat and charming house. The caretaker Anand Singh lives in a house nearby inside the property, and he is always available to help out with whatever you need. He didn’t speak English and we couldn’t speak Hindi, but we still communicated very well with sign language and google translate. Sanjeev, the host, is always available to arrange whatever is needed, from a cab ride to Almora, or recommend the best restaurant in town, or getting us a proof of address for our Visa extensions. Overall a fantastic experience in one of the most beautiful and peaceful places that we have seen in the world!”
