Inspired by the barefoot lifestyle of the Paramin community, La Vapeur Estate’s wood cabin embraces minimalist design aesthetic, while featuring panoramic sea views and mountain filled vistas. It is rustic yet luxurious and eco friendly.
“Giselle’s eco-cabin was an amazing experience! Perfect for a refreshing weekend getaway. We would definitely recommend here to everyone especially more locals because it’s such a beautiful, private spot nestled on the hills with great views of the sea and the surrounding Paramin area, giving you a deeper appreciation for the island’s beauty. Gizelle was a great host, very responsive to all the questions and requests we had. The cabin was spotless upon arrival and equipped with basic necessities for a two-night stay. Mr Nick was incredibly helpful and friendly and Ms. Julia was a lifesaver that weekend. Things to note: -The route we took to the cabin wasn't incredibly steep, if you're accustomed driving around T&T and have a reliable vehicle you should be able to make it up there with no worries -It definitely gets chilly at night, we cracked open the doors but it lead to an influx of rain flies and mosquitoes that were quite bothersome in the night and early morning despite the mosquito net and insect repellent. (We'd recommend walking with a small mobile fan or having one placed in the bedroom as one of the amenities) -On that note, the pest control was impressive considering the location (trees and forest all around) -The cabin was higher up on the hills relative to the rest of the village so the cloud cover was very thick in that spot making it difficult to see any sunset or sunrise from the balcony doors, but this is expected during the rainy season. So we would recommend to anyone staying here during this time to take a short walk on the road to get a better view of the Paramin and Maracas Hills. -Most importantly, don't forget to pack ALL your essential cooking supplies and food if you plan on cooking. Even though the cabin is stocked with most of the necessary supplies, it may not be enough to cook with during your stay”
Two level house nestled in the rain forest, 1,600' overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Ten miles from downtown Port of Spain. Three miles from Maracas Beach. Ideal for birdwatching, tranquil, serene. Surrounded by flowers and foliage. Very scenic.
“Mahogany ridge is a staycationer's dream. The vista is simply breath-taking and none of the dozens of photos we took can do it justice. Paul took great care of us and his home is equipped with everything a person could want for a quiet vacation on the North coast. Mahogany ridge is not simply one of the best bed and breakfasts in the country, it is an experience which you deserve to have. Would (and plan to) visit again when I need some R&R.”
Very scenic, peaceful and romantic. It is called the best view in Trinidad and many wedding pictures have been taken here. Five miles west of Maracas Beach with easy access to Port of Spain. Surrounded by exotic flowers and foliage.
“Absolutely stunning place to stay. No photos do Mahogany Ridge justice. The view is breathtaking, and you'll miss the peace and natural beauty of the place once you leave (as well as Paul's wonderful dogs!). The amenities are the basics you'll need and you have to expect a certain amount of bugs and things because you are surrounded by nature, but Paul is a great host, very generous and accommodating. Lastly, the private beach is a fair hike down and you honestly feel lucky to have all that bay to yourself, but be warned that the hike back up is definitely not for the faint-hearted! If you want a relaxing getaway while in Trinidad, definitely give Mahogany Ridge a go. It's a rare find indeed.”
