Akima Shimokitazawa、Private Zen Garden Floor — Sh.

Tucked into one of Shimokitazawa’s quieter residential pockets, this first-floor home offers something rare in Tokyo: 57.5 sqm of interior space, plus a 33 sqm private garden. The layout feels closer to a small private residence than a compact short-stay rental. The bedroom is separate from the living room, giving the home a calmer, more settled rhythm and a suite-like sense of space. The bedroom has two single beds, while the generous living and dining area offers room to read, work, eat, or simply slow down. A defining feature of the home is the private garden. Rare in Tokyo, it is arranged in a Japanese dry landscape style inspired by karesansui, with stone, sand, and greenery creating a quiet composition. Guests are welcome to gently redraw the ripple patterns in the sand and enjoy the slower pace it brings to the stay. The home also includes a full kitchen, a separate toilet, and a Japanese-style bath. While Shimokitazawa is known for its cafés, music venues, vintage shops, and creative energy, the house sits in a notably peaceful residential setting just beyond the busiest streets. The space is ideal for one or two guests. A third guest can be accommodated when needed, though the home is designed and priced primarily for one or two. For stays of three, the third guest sleeps on the couch in the living room. This home tends to suit guests who value atmosphere, design, and a respectful way of traveling. Clear pre-arrival guidance and attentive local support help everything feel easy and well considered.
