Family-friendly holiday rentals in Smallingerland

The stay at Wietske was above expectations: an extremely cozy house with plenty of space. The garden was a relief: lots of greenery, trees and shade: everything we needed. A hot tub is not our thing, but for those who like it: it is there. All in all: highly recommended.

Beautiful home with amazing views and location. Recommend walking through the village.. friendly people and wonderful atmosphere.

In 2016, I already spent a weekend with friends in the Coach House. I liked that, so just booked again. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Sjoerd and Jeltsje. Fresh eggs, flowers and a welcome card on the table. The Carriage House is an oasis of peace just a few minutes from Dokkum. Behind the cottage you can enjoy the beautiful view from the wind in the spring sun. Also nice that we were free to take a look in the stables. In the evening we had a nice glass of wine in the hot tub. The downside was the extra cost; the hot tub was more expensive than listed on Airbnb and it was also not indicated that we had to pay extra for the towels (€15 for 5). Too bad, because we would have brought them ourselves. Nevertheless, it is and remains a great place to relax and enjoy.

The house is sensational. Very impressive high rooms, huge and very tastefully furnished. There is everything you need. You can park right in front of the house. Just right for our family trip (10 person). We wanted a quiet house near the North Sea. Sandra and Nic are great host. We can all recommend the house.

We spent 4 nights at this place, and absolutely loved it! The location is in the country along a canal. We enjoyed the peace and quiet. What a gem! I highly recommended this place to others!

Had a very nice stay. Clean house and all necessities were present, great! Furthermore, beautiful garden with nice trampoline and we enjoyed the hot tub, which is also wonderful with rain. All I wanted to know in advance is that the garden is directly adjacent to the family's garden. This made it feel a little less private. Fortunately, he was very friendly, so that was fine. Furthermore, Hari was friendly and responsive, so that was nice too. Many thanks to Hari and the rest of the family!

We greatly enjoyed our stay. It really is a great location for a family vacation. All bedrooms are very spacious and have a private bathroom. Jan Gerben and Rinske are very warm and we felt at home immediately. We will definitely come back!

Beautiful big house, perfectly suitable for families with kids! We had a fantastic time. Its surrounded by beautiful nature, so hike around is highly recommended.

We had three wonderful days with three generations of family. Also for seven people and dog the house was more than generous. But the most beautiful thing was the garden, you just have to go to relax there. Thank you!

The place was excellent. It was even better than described and can't be captured in photos. It was all bigger than it appears in the photos. The entire houseboat was clean and well equipped. Garbage disposal takes some getting used to - but this is also complaining to a high standard and feasible. The hostess was always available, accommodating and very nice. Would recommend this place anytime.

Everything was as expected and without any problems

Mirjam's houseboat is as cozy as it gets. Lovely water view from all the rooms. Neat and clean space. It is spacious and well lit, so doesn't feel cramped up. Well equipped kitchen (including cutlery/plates for kids). The things that are not provided are clearly mentioned on the listing (towels, toiletries etc).

Very nice B&B in a quiet area, especially in summer, the whore should be beautiful.

Upon our arrival, we were warmly greeted with coffee and small tarts - a loving detail that set the tone for our entire stay. The hosts, an incredibly friendly and authentic couple, immediately made us feel welcome with their warm manner. The cottage is nestled in a fairytale setting, surrounded by forests and dunes that invite you to take long walks and hikes. Cyclists will also get their money's worth here – if you like to explore nature on two wheels, bring your bike! The cottage itself is equipped with everything you need. It is clean, cozy and offers enough space for two people. The dreamy bed is particularly noteworthy – very authentic! Those who stay here should be aware of what a special place this is. It is not a place for materialistic luxury, but for people who appreciate the real, the natural and the lovingly designed.

Very nice holiday cottage on quiet campsite. From the platform in the back of the garden you have a nice view of an open plain, we saw a few deer passing by in the early morning. The cottage has a beautiful garden, is also full of comforts and the contact with the owner is fine. Highly recommended.

Fantastic place for a getaway! The house is a bit hidden but once you have found it, bombastic! Nice layout and amenities. We felt very comfortable. With the lake and outdoor swimming pool within walking distance we had a very nice summer vacation. The place is very cute and the people very hospitable. The house is highly recommended.

We loved our stay at Thomas's place. The caravan is spacious and equipped with every comfort. The terrace was also very complete in terms of furniture with both sun and shade. However, we were bothered by mosquitoes so we definitely recommend bringing a mosquito spray.

Really a nice and cozy stay with a lovely view on garden and nature. You can walk onto the heath in no time. Everything that is needed is also present in the garden everything perfect. The outdoor kitchen can also be used with rain due to the spacious canopy. Friendly hostess who also responds quickly to the app.

Marco's chalet is a small, but wonderful place. It's situated directly behind a private marina, in the first row of a settlement of similar chalets. The neighborhood is very quiet, allowing for relaxing on the terrace any time of the day. Nearby a secure bathing area for little kids, with a small sandy beach. We did some excursions to Sneek (a middle-sized town, ~25 minutes) and small villages at the shore of the ijsselmeer (eg. Stavoren, Hindeloopen, each ~25 minutes), which were each totally worth it. Super picturesque! and some nice restaurants, too. We can highly recommend renting Marco's place if you'd like to have a restful couple of days!
