Animaya is the newest zoo in Merida! check out the Giraffe's, Lion's and go to the top of the Animaya tower for a spectacular view of the city. Do you dare to float about in the lagoon? or take the "Safari" ride up close to the animals?

This Zoo is out much further. You will need transit to get there, but once you are there and if you enjoy walking, it's not strenuous at all and it's a nice place to visit.

Both zoos are FREE. All animals are herbivores with large habitats at Animaya (near Caucel). Boat rides with a guide. The downtown zoo (caged animals) has big cats, a monkey house and an aviary.
