70 acres of sunflowers at the Forks of the River managed by TWRA (Tennessee Wildlife Resources Management), outside hunting season, which stretches from September to May, the area is used by hikers, bikers, bird watchers, wildflower enthusiasts, and those in search of new trails to blaze in South Knoxville’s urban wilderness. Experience this awesome display of color which occurs every odd numbered year during the month of July. TWRA often plants a smaller field of flowers on even years so you can enjoy the sunflowers then, too!
