Another historic riverside pub, one not to miss. Nice little terrace with heaters and river views.
Pub on the river. Does a great carvery for Sunday lunch and has the best beer selection and nicest atmosphere of the pubs in the area. Has a great beer garden out the back as well
Good quality pub in Wapping. Easy to walk to from the flat. They serve food and the pub quiz is good fun. It's Christmas decorations are particuarly impressive! Not the best for river views - try the Prospect of Whitby instead.
Ship-like riverside pub where James II's notorious Hanging Judge was captured in the 17th century.
Long and narrow it may be, but the Grade II-listed Town of Ramsgate is bright, friendly and open. The food includes own-made cream of tomato soup, and beef, beetroot and mozzarella salad, while the bar continues to earn plaudits for the quality of its guest and constant real ales. “‘Famous for fish’ & an Essex legend since 1958, Smith’s Brasserie is now peddling its piscine wares just a stone’s throw from Tower Bridge (spectacular views guaranteed). Like its elder sibling in Ongar, this outlet focuses on sustainable seafood, with a familiar, user-friendly menu that hauls in everything from sardines & scallops to salmon & skate. Lobsters & crabs also figure prominently, alongside plates of deep-fried calamari with garlic mayo, monkfish meunière, & halibut steak with brown butter & capers. Meat eaters & veggies have their say with the likes of roast rump of lamb or warm goats’ cheese on beetroot salad, while puds could feature Brit standbys such as Eton mess or Bakewell tart. Plenty of fish-friendly wines are on hand to seal the deal.”
