Take some floats and drop in at the bridge and float down the river a few miles. This is a local and travelers favorite summertime activity. (Don’t forget to take a car to your floating destination)

Great place, if the Ocoee seems a little above your adventure level. The Hiwassee River has class II/III whitewater that can be run with a guide or self guided, you can even run it in a tube.
