Erected in 1898, the Great Fish Point Lighthouse provides breathtaking views amidst the windy weather. Interesting historical and technical information is provided by the knowledgeable staff of the lighthouse. A fascinating fact about the lighthouse it that an electric light flashes from the lighthouse every 10 seconds for the shipping safety. It is one of South Africa’s smallest lighthouses – but it casts a beacon light that can shine for up to 32 nautical miles out to sea. It is also one of four South African lighthouses to offer visitor accommodation.
