Edward Leedskalnin, a self-taught engineer and sculptor, built Coral Castle by carving over 1,100 tons of coral rock; perfectly cut lines and corners without the use of modern tools, such as, lasers and cranes. Proven to work alone Ed secretly constructed his castle at night without help. Today, Coral Castle is called a modern megalith and is compared to the ancient megaliths of the Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge. Continuous tours with a professional guide offer a glimpse at the “love story”, history, and science, with over 30 structures inside the castle. Experience how some of Ed’s creations work even after 95 years. Viewed on the History Channel, Travel Channel, Discovery Channel, Univision, Telemundo, CNN, BBC, Ancient Aliens to name a few specials. Singer Billy Idol wrote his famous song, “Sweet Sixteen”, all about Ed’s love. The furniture pieces include a heart-shaped table, a table in the shape of Florida, twenty-five rocking chairs, chairs resembling crescent moons, a bathtub, beds and a throne. A typical visit takes about 1 to 2 hours. To this day, no one knows how Edward Leedskalnin created the Coral Castle. Built under the cover of night and in secret, at a time when there were no modern construction conveniences, Ed would only say that he knew "the secret of the pyramids."
