Tips from locals
The Blarney Stone is a block of Carboniferous limestone built into the battlements of Blarney Castle, Blarney, about 8 kilometres from Cork, Ireland. According to legend, kissing the stone endows the kisser with the gift of the gab. The stone was set into a tower of the castle in 1446.
Visit early as possible after opening time in the morning as later on it can get a little hectic with coach tours arriving. If you do not wish to "Kiss The Blarney Stone" (a custom that's world famous) take a stroll in the amazing gardens and woodland walks, you won't be disappointed.
A place that doesnt really need an introduction. lovely castle and gardens and woolen mills nearby for buying those gifts. Bring your cheque book!
