This Wat holds the mummified monk's body on display. Search "Wat Khunaram" and read up on the history. Well worth a visit on the way to/from Lamai area. Drive north up to main ring road at Na Muang - go right and you will see the Wat on the rt side before you get to Hua Thanon and Lamai. (opposite the Wat you will see a small road with signs that takes you up the mountain to Peak Eye View, Magic Garden etc)

When you're in the south of the island stop by to see this temple and the famous mummified monk! Drop by to Chai's Cuisine & Farm for a meal or fruit shake afterwards, he's just down the road

This temple is well-visited thanks mainly to its mummified monk. The monk supposedly predicted his own death and passed on instructions for his mummification. He apparently did this in order to demonstrate that Buddhism is the path to preventing suffering in life. The monk has sunglasses placed on his head, so he looks rather comical. Another interesting feature is a collection of banknotes from around the world, which is on show in one of the display cabinets. Szabo, Pavel.
