The Matterhorn is the iconic mountain of Switzerland, straddling the main watershed and border between Switzerland and Italy. It is a large, near-symmetric pyramidal peak in the extended Monte Rosa area of the Pennine Alps, whose summit is 4,478 metres high, making it one of the highest summits in the Alps and Europe.

The Matterhorn, probably the most famous mountain in Europe, rises majestically at 4478 meters above sea level, in the midst of a breathtaking Alpine panorama. The symbol of Switzerland is located on the border of the canton of Valais, between Zermatt and the Italian resort of Breuil-Cervinia, and is a paradise for all nature lovers with a romantic view of the surrounding area. The symmetrical pyramid shape, the rocky tooth piercing the sky and its luminous reflection in the small lake of Stelli, everything contributes to make the landscape of this mountainous region a unique natural spectacle.

The Matterhorn, Switzerland's iconic pointed peak is one of the highest mountains in the Alps. On the border with Italy, this legendary peak rises to 4,478 meters, and its four steep faces lie in the direction of the compass points. The first summiting in 1865 ended tragically when four climbers fell to their death during the descent. Today, thousands of experienced climbers come here each summer. At the foot of this mighty peak, lies the charming village of Zermatt, a top international resort with horse-drawn carriage rides, quaint chalets, and world-class restaurants and hotels. To preserve the air quality and peaceful ambiance, motorized vehicles are banned in the village. In the winter, skiers can schuss down more than 300 kilometers of slopes. In the summer, swimming and tennis are popular pursuits as well as hiking, biking, and climbing in the surrounding mountains. Summer glacier skiing is also available.
