This is actually the closest ski filed from Christchurch. It's not that commercialized compared with Mt Hutt. But it's always less crowded and feels more chill. There is one chairlift at the bottom, then 3 T-Bars to the top of the mountain. If you haven't tried T-Bar in your ski experience, this will be quite special. The transport is not great. Generally, you will need a car to drive to there.

Just over an hours drive and you are at the Porters Ski Area.

Another little gem of a ski field only 1 hour to the base building. Pack a picnic and head up to the hills for a great day skiing.
