Why locals recommend it
One of the biggest markets in Seoul and located in the center of the city, Gwangjang was the first market to attract a lot of international visitors. It’s known for delicious street food such as buchimgae, a vegetable pancake, and mini kimbap (similar to a vegetable maki roll), which is so addictive that people call it “narcotic” kimbap. Though it’s tempting, don’t haggle with vendors over price, as the market’s fixed-price system makes it hard for individual vendors to offer items for less. Instead, ask for a bit extra with a smile!
Tips from locals
It's the first market of South Korea, and is still popular among locals and tourists. Great street food and very vibrant atmosphere. Take time exploring the cloth market on the 1st and 2nd floor - it is simply amazing!
I recommend to eat Korean-style raw beef, Korean-style pancake and so on at Gwangjang Market. Delicious!
