Food Scene

Just up the street from my apartment, Blás is my favourite local eatery. Funky, hip, mismatched and cool. Great for breakfast, good coffee, delicious sandwiches and salads. A small, but select, food menu. This cafe is situated in The Chocolate Factory which is a creative community building offering studios spaces to creatives - from fashion designers to architects. Worth checking out for its proximity and chilled atmosphere. Just 2 mins walk from my place.

Once a small, intimate coffee shop, Brother Hubbard has expanded due to its popularity. Now this cafe/restaurant takes up a large open space on a corner of Capel Street and now has a small grocers for take away deli items. Relaxed and tasty food with a nod to the Middle East (try the Eggs Menemen). Plenty of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free options. A foodie favourite.

Great coffee! A large selection of ground coffees to buy also. This funky coffee shop is part of a small chain - but doesn’t seem like it. Situated on the ground floor of Arnotts Deoartment Store. I wouldn’t go out of my way to get here but great for a good coffee on the go.

Super local sushi spot serving plenty of Japanese favourites for decent prices. Daily changing bento box and offers B.Y.O.B. wine. The atmosphere and interior is also a lot nicer than many of its competitors. Gyoza for days! This is less than 5 mins from my apartment and there is also a second Musashi on Capel Street.

The older brother of Musashi Parnell Street. A firm favourite of mine, I’ve been known to dine in Musashi (or take-out) at least once a week. The menu and prices are the same but this restaurant tends to be a busier than its Parnell Street sibling.

Fancier fare can be found in Mr.Fox. Contemporary International and Irish cooking, the atmosphere is not at all pretentious like a lot of restaurants of its standard. Great for a treat or a celebration, staff are lovely and food is inventive and delicious. Mr.Fox is so close to the apartment but I would happily travel from afar to dine here, definitely worth trying and likely easier to get a booking than its famous Michelin Star neighbour, Chapter One.

Fine dining in Parnell Square. For weekend reservations, I would advise booking in advance. Michelin-starred restaurant with a lovely dining room in the basement of a Georgian building on Parnell Square. They also do a fantastic Pre-Theatre option which is more affordable. A great special occasion restaurant or the place to treat yourself.

A no frills local Vietnamese restaurant. The food is delicious so please don’t be put off by the fairly basic surrounds. Pho and Banh Xeo are very tasty and excellent value. You can also B.Y.O.B. Wine. Budget friendly.

Great Pizza! It’s just 3 mins from my apartment but I would cross the city for their flat bread and pizzas. Nice selection of cocktails too. Roomy atmosphere in a pub style environment. Unlike lots of cramped pizza places, it’s pretty chilled. They also do vegan pizza. It’s very often full at peak times so I recommend booking in advance. So tasty and so convenient to my apartment.

Tasty Thai food about 4 mins from my apartment. This restaurant has been around for years and for good reason. Fresh and flavoursome food and an excellent Pad Thai. Prices are good too. A nice cocktail menu and atmosphere.

Drinks & Nightlife

Local Craft Beer Specialist with tasty pub food too. A huge selection of craft beers from across the globe and more importantly, across the country of Ireland. Ask staff for recommendations and try some Irish micro-brews that would rival Ireland’s favourite black stuff, Guinness. Board games, good tunes, relaxed vibe...worth the short walk.

Regular traditional music sessions in this small traditional pub on Capel Street. (NOT Ranelagh, as Airbnb is insisting)
