Skjoldastraumen is an idyllic and quiet place with the possibility of several activities and excursions. The place is probably best known for its saltwater locks that opened in 1908. The saltwater locks are the only ones in Norway that are still in use. The sandy beach at Notaflåt is centrally located and provides bathing opportunities on a nice summer day. Her er sengene bygd inn på romma, det er ikkje Wifi og oppvask må tas for hånd. Men, plasseringen kan gi ro i sjelen med nydelig sjøutsikt ut Ålfjorden, stor eigendom med masse naturtomt, tilgang til strand, fiske og kort vei til Ølen, Etne, Odda/Trolltunga, Haugesund og Karmøy.
