Family-friendly holiday rentals in Wimmera

We had a very comfortable and warm weekend at this property! The cockatoos that greeted us in the morning were a lovely surprise.

lovely home located in a beautiful location and close to halls gap township. house was very well presented and very clean on arrival with high quality furnishings and fixtures. However we were also presented with several "house rules...and potential fines" during the booking process / on arrival that did make us feel a little more self conscious during our stay. The outside bbq is on the smaller side as well as the oven, so if you are planning on cooking for a large number (ie upto 10 guests) please bare this in mind. we also had an issue with the bedding configuration on arrival, which was unable to be rectified during our stay, but after requesting the extra bedding fee to be refunded, this was accommodated immediately. it is a beautiful home with stunning views, local wildlife visits and close to everything you need for a memorable holiday.

We really enjoyed our stay! Just one note on the supply of toilet paper, we didnt have another roll available. And could possibly do with a mat on the floor upon entrance due to the wet and dewy weather, didnt want to mess up the floors with damp shoes.

Well located in the middle of town (which was quiet so this was fine). We struggled to find a suitable accommodation in Penola or Coonawarra, so this is probably one of the best available. We had no hot water initially but this was resolved very quickly by Karly. We just took the Merlot side, with the mezzanine bedroom, which was HUGE and far bigger than our needs, but clean and spacious. The aircon/heating was a bit tricky to work out.

Lovely cosy house with beautiful surroundings. Even with other accomodation around it was quite private. Lots of friendly cockatoos around as well :)

Absolutely gorgeous cottage in a beautiful town with kind hosts. Everything was spot on for our winter escape. It was so lovely to arrive to the fire on and everything so spotlessly clean. We had plenty of fire wood to keep us toasty all weekend! It was extremely comfortable in every way. Has everything you could need. We can’t wait to come back again some time.

What a lovely place to stay! Located in the beautiful Halls Gap, close to the township and local amenities. Magnificent outdoor area which we were itching to sit on and enjoy the tranquility but Mother Nature had other ideas. None the less we had an enjoyable stay. Accomodation was neat and tidy and provided for all our needs.

Great semi isolated location with small interesting town with all requirements within 4 kms. The place is beautifully peaceful and restful. Ideal for us.

Brendan & PETA’s house was very clean spacious and beautifully decorated. Luxury bath towels and linens were provided. We were travelling with our dog and the fully fenced backyard was very convenient. We felt right at home and all the amenities were great. Only a short drive to major supermarkets and shops so the house is well located. I would highly recommend staying at this property.

We had a wonderful time at this quaint, peaceful, well appointed cottage. We loved how the rooms were styled and the relaxed, comfortable feel of the cottage, best of all the fire was ready to be lit. We look forward to coming back again. Thanks Madeline.

This was our third stay at Bet Bet Creek Homestead, we love it. Warm and cozy, well stocked kitchen, comfy bed, great yard for dog to explore and plenty of privacy, peace and quiet.

We stayed at Helen's place as we were attending a musical event at the Horsham Town Hall. Although the property was on the edge of town it was literally only a few minutes drive to the venue and the CBD. The house is comfortably furnished and has everything required for a medium stay. We found Helen very easy to deal with. If you are arriving at night it would be a good idea to take a torch as it really is a rural property.

Barbara and Brad’s farm was a beautiful place to stay for the Ballarat marathon weekend. It’s a bit like a motel- we had the 4 person suite which was 2 double beds sharing a bathroom and kitchenette. There was another family of 10 that had booked the rooms next door. The main kitchen, fire pit and garden is shared so if there’s another large group you will definitely see them. The rooms were super clean and thoughtfully renovated, Barbara has clearly put in lots of thought with double glazed windows, split heating/cooling, filtered water in the taps, noise insulation (we couldn’t hear the other groups at all) etc. the garden is also beautifully landscaped and overlooks the sheep docks and mountains. Very serene and peaceful. The kitchen is also super well stocked with bbq we used to make burgers, fridge, stove, microwave, plates, mugs utensils etc for cooking dinner. There is also nespresso machine with pods as well as lots of tea and hot chocolate, milk. 25 mins from Ballarat.

We had a delightful stay at Karen’s house over the long weekend. The living areas of the house were large and ideal for a family. Three heat sources kept the house evenly warm and cosy. The amenities provided were ample and generous. We look forward to coming again.

Picturesque and historic farmhouse that felt like the middle of nowhere but close enough to Castlemaine and Bendigo. Amazing stargazing with very little light pollution and a comfortable home with everything needed. Will come back.

Golton is a very impressive property and we thoroughly recommend. Its attention to all comforts and ease of access into and within is to be commended. We really can not fault this property. The location was perfect. The house is definitely 5 stars. Modern, extremely clean. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could possibly need. Beds and linen were luxurious. Bathrooms were large. Has a lovely verandah to sit and enjoy the view and sunshine. Thank you Roslyn & Daryl.

We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. It’s very cosy and clean. There’s everything you need in the kitchen. There were even games and colouring books for the kids. There are farms around you so it’s perfect if you want to escape the hustle of the city. Just a quick drive to all the sights in the area. Kylie is a very friendly and helpful host, always responded quickly. We would definitely come back.

Perfect location. Close to restaurants, cafes, and walking trails. Beds were comfortable and the property was clean and well-maintained. We were greeted with Tim’s friendly service and kangaroos upon arrival. Highly recommended for a short stay

Great place with stunning views! It’s a little drive out from Halls Gap but not far enough that you can’t go for dinner etc. It had everything we could have wanted and all communication was very clear. Would recommend to a friend
