Tsuruoka offers not only excellent access to the mountains and the sea, as is characteristic of the area, but also a variety of other amenities. 　There are only 10 houses in Taruguchi Village. It is at the foot of Mt. Iitoyama in Oguni-cho, Yamagata Prefecture. There is a river in the village, but the houses in the village are always short of water because they are on the slopes of the mountains above the river. Even if you dig a well, only brown water comes out. So, about 100 years ago, they cut down a huge cedar tree that grew in the village and sold it to a temple in Kyoto. With that money, the villagers tried to dig a tunnel into the mountain behind them. However, the men who came to the construction site ran away, pretending to work only on the first day. The villagers succeeded in digging their own tunnel and drawing a stream that flowed behind the mountain. For 100 years, this water has been used as a valuable water supply for the village. Tarumiguchi Village has mountain cherry blossoms in spring, and char fishing in the river that has increased with snowmelt water. And wild vegetables. Not only common things like bracken, zenmai, and udon, You can enjoy precious wild vegetables that are not available in the market. In summer, it is hot during the day, but cool in the morning and evening, making for a comfortable stay. However, you need to be careful of a small wasp called a mejiro. Be careful not to get stung. In autumn, the leaves turn a fiery red. And lots of different kinds of mushrooms. In winter, there is over 3 meters of snow. There is a wood stove.

Jihei, a single-family house in the center of Yamagata City, can accommodate up to 10 people. The first floor has a spacious living and dining room and a spacious kitchen where you can enjoy cooking. On the 2nd floor, there are 2 Japanese-style rooms with 6 tatami mats and 2 Western-style rooms with the scent of Japanese iris. You can use the whole house freely as if you were at home. Parking 🅿️ is available on the property for 2 cars. It can accommodate up to 10 people. As a base for sightseeing in Yamagata, we recommend it for long-term stays with friends and family. The downtown area and the bar area are also a 5-6 minute walk away. You can enjoy walking around the city's tourist attractions (Bunsho Museum, Kasumi Castle Park, Mogami Yoshimitsu Memorial Hall, Momiji Park). From the accommodation, you can go to Zao Onsen ♨ ️ in 25-30 minutes by car🚗, to Yama-dera Risshaku-ji Temple in 20-30 minutes, and to Ginzan Onsen ♨ ️ in 70 minutes. Sendai is 60 minutes away by train or bus. The venue for the Yamagata Hanakasa Festival, one of the four major festivals in Tohoku, is a 1-minute walk.
