The Old Post Office Apartment

Daria & PatrickRating, 5 stars5 days ago
Mary‘s accommodation was absolutely wonderful., warm, cozy, and thoughtfully decorated. I felt very welcome, especially with the generous food. Thank you so much. The place is extremely well equipped (even an air fryer!) The bed was incredibly comfortable. I slept so well. The bathroom was also a highlight, with a large shower, lovely warm water, and a heated towel rack, such a treat! I also appreciated the smart little details, like the bedside light switch. The town itself is extremely charming and very clean, and the whole area is just beautiful – peaceful, well-kept, and perfect for walking or hiking. Mary was a pleasure to write to – so kind and caring. Thank you Mary so so much 🩷

Cosy & quaint log cabin

RobertRating, 5 stars4 days ago
The Cabin was easy to find to the right behind the fence. John was responsive to all our questions and gave recommendations on where to eat. Just 15-20 minutes outside Athlone while still quiet and peaceful. Will definitely try to stay again during our next trip.

Live like a King in my Castle

SusanRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Peter has done a wonderful job refurbishing this very old castle. All the amenities are current and up-to-date. One thing that Guest need to know is that this is a 18th century castle and the spiral stone staircase is wonderful and unique, but you will not really be able to comfortably carry a suitcase up so just be aware we didn’t have a problem with that. Also be aware of that. The main living area is on one of the floors and the bedroom is on another which again is not a problem just unusual as it would be if you were staying in a castle. And keeping with this primitive castle, which again is very well done and refurbished the bathroom is primitive. You won’t find a shower, but he did have a chance to show us his ingenious hidden bathtub.

Restored 200 Year Old Church

KimberlyRating, 5 stars3 days ago
Chris & Orla were warm and welcoming. Their home was beautifully restored, and they had great taste in decor and art. We loved visiting with their friendly dogs: Bird & Pete. Breakfast was so delicious, and fueled us for our adventures. The place was easy to find and nice and quiet. The location was a short easy drive from Galway City. We truly enjoyed our stay, and hope to return some day!

Sea-Renity Cottage on The Cliff

KristineRating, 5 stars4 days ago
Jean’s home was a bit of heaven. My husband and I were celebrating our wedding anniversary and this was the perfect spot. So much to do an hour’s drive in each direction. Spectacularly beautiful views. After long summer days exploring the area we loved coming back to have a drink in the back overlooking the bay and watching the sunset. I can’t rave enough at how fabulous this place is!! Thank you Jean for a lovely stay.

Spare room in a quiet location

Harald Klaus DieterRating, 5 stars1 day ago
We felt very comfortable in Tom's house and in his family. The house is located in a wonderfully quiet environment, the room with a wonderful view over the countryside. If you like cats and sheep, you are in very good hands here.

Room 3 at The Bastion

MicheleRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Put simply, you can't ask for a better location in Athlone! It's a bit of work to get your car parked somewhere that doesn't make towing your bags to the BnB a bit of an issue -- but that's because you are, literally, in the heart of the town. Once parked, there is no need to touch your car again. From Anthony and Vinny's, you are a five-minute walk to Sean's Pub (and many others), Michelin-level restaurants, fabulous shops, historic buildings, a beautiful river view -- the list goes on. The accommodations are cozy, to say the least. My husband is a big guy and we had to do some navigating around each other -- but other than that, rooms are incredibly clean and comfortable. The shared lounge area was very handy for making tea and coffee and/or for storing some of our own snacks. Wonderful addition to the BnB experience. Stairs might present a bit of an issue for older folks getting luggage up/ down -- but Vinny met us at arrival and was there to help out.

Five stars throughout. Sinead provided requested information before our visit, made us feel very welcome on arrival and responded to any contact almost immediately. We enjoyed the stay very much, our host(s) were very friendly and accommodating and we plan to return in the not to distant future.
